I went in to Lupita's Bakery to order a cake for my husband's birthday. I've always been a big fan of their pan dulce and green juices and heard great things about their cakes so I knew I could trust them! I went in last minute and showed them a photo of the cake I wanted. I couldn't believe it looked even better than the photo I had shown them! Everyone was a big fan of the cake design and even a bigger fan of the taste! I'm so happy with their service. They're always so friendly, and I will definitely be ordering my future cakes with them! Probably the worst sweet bread I've tasted in a while. I got about 10 pieces of different sweet breads and all but one tasted so off. The conchas were extremely dry, I really wanted them to taste good since they were offered in a variety of beautiful colors. It seemed to me that none of the bread was fresh. I feel that a bakery should have fresh bread out every single day, if not then what's the point?! Came here after a yelp search for some dessert in the evening! We are so glad we stumbled upon it. Everything is freshly baked and looked delicious. While we wanted one of everything , we left with some churros, rice pudding, and sweet breads. Churros were the perfect amount of crunch but soft in the center, rice pudding was just the right level of sweetness, and the breads were so soft and flavorful Loved everything we tried and will be back again! read more

Went this morning to buy some bread I live in Salinas but once I got home the bread was not soft at all did not enjoy it.

Really enjoyed my torta! They pressed it on a panini grill! I ordered milanesa (breaded pork) and added oaxacan cheese. The chipotle mayo that they add is so good. Would highly recommend. The staff was super friendly and gave me exactly what I ordered. I also enjoyed the tamales and the freshly squeezed orange juice! The bread is also no doubt the best sweet Mexican bread I've had. Great communication and great flavor. I scoured the Monterey Bay in search of a strawberry chiffon cake and either other bakeries didn't make chiffons or strawberry wasn't an option. I was extremely grateful and surprised when I called Lupita's and spoke with Steve. He checked with the chef and promptly called me back to confirm they can make me one. I ordered it a few days in advance with a pickup at noon two days before Christmas. They ran one hour late but called me with plenty of time to give me a heads up, so none of my plans were affected. The Cake. Was. Incredible. I bought the cake for a friend of mine who is quite the strawberry chiffon connoisseur and he said it was the best he's ever had. Highly recommended. read more

I love getting their fresh juices- the Vampiro is my favorite! They serve hot foods such as burritos and tacos in the bakery as well! My experience today was a reminder of my previous experience, and not in a good way. I'd forgotten I'd stopped in once before, only to be told they 'didn't have' any of the simple food items I wanted to order - ordinary food, not specialty baked goods, which there were photos of on Yelp and people commenting on them. They acted very 'meh', as if they couldn't care less. I just left. Cue today, where I again ordered *from the menu they have up in the shop* - which, I've figured out, the employees don't pay any attention to and don't even know what it says. One of the ingredients that, according to that menu, is standard in ALL breakfast burritos is potatoes. But she didn't put them in because I didn't list every.single.thing on the menu that was listed as being included. It was again meh service, and now that I've eaten it, a very meh breakfast burrito with the bacon not looking all that cooked. All the 'shells' for tacos, taquitos, etc were sitting out on a huge tray. They could have been sitting there for hours already, and will be sitting there for hours more. A great recipe for food poisoning. Fortunately, there are 2-3 other bakeries within a few blocks where the food is much better. I got the impression, from both of my visits, that they aren't comfortable dealing with non-Spanish-speaking customers. They aren't friendly, like the other Mexican bakeries around. If they had been a bit more welcoming, or smiled once, this review would have been 3 stars. read more

This hit the spot :) and we also got a tlayuda with cecina and some molotes de chorizó y papa with frijoles negros and queso fresco on top. The red salsa is better than the green one, better taste. the food was amazing. tamales was a little spicy but still BOMB. one thing i had a problem with is the bakery was extremely small and didn't have a limit on people who can go in. due to COVID i would say they should have a limit 3 people due to how small it is. when i went in it was about 10 people inside and was crammed. other then that everything was good. and the workers were all nice! read more

worst bakery! i know it was kind of a rush cake order for my son. His birthday was july 7, and i ordered the cake on july 6.. i called and went to this store and asked if they can make it. I even showed the design, one of the lady took a picture of it and told me that they can do the "edible picture" which i was surprise because i didn't expec that. To my knowledge that they can do it, i paid extra bucks. Thennn when i was about to pick it up the next day, they told me that the machine was not able to print a picture soo my son's cake didnt have any design at all. They didn't call me earlier to informed me but instead waited for the last minute until i picked up the cake. When i sliced the cake, i ordered choco fudge but this is what's inside. Unfortunately they didn't have the cream cheese cake like things the last 2 times I've gone in simply because they always sell out they are so darn good but I never leave empty handed. I picked up a few fresh baked mini baguette like rolls and a plethora of Pan Dulce (they are a Panderia) all for only $4.50. I did a double take... what only $4.50??? I know, I know... I'm on a 10 day fast so unfortunately I couldn't try any of these lovely creation, only scratch and sniff. I bought them for my friends and I think they finally get me... they realize that while I'm trying to take care of my body, I'm trying to fatten them up. Cypress is one of those weird little secret places. There's no sign, just an awning. You wouldn't expect it from the name, but this is a panaderia. I usually have to speak Spanish when I come in. The Mexican items they have are quite good. To my knowledge, this is the only place in the area that makes empanadas. The setup is a bit weird, as they have tall carts in front of the display cases, but the carts are where the fresh stuff is, so you should hit them first. Funny fact about Cypress: a lot of places in town source from them. Carmel Valley Roasting Company, for instance (so probably also their East Village coffee shop). And it feels a bit like a commercial bakery. I would not necessarily come in looking to spend some time inside. There are people hanging around every time I come in, but they always give me weird looks, and they seem to know the staff. Like any panaderia that's worth a damn, this place is super cheap. A reasonable amount of baked goods for one person runs under $2. Well worth the effort, if you can find it. read more

Stopped in here yesterday for a quick bite to eat. These folks deliver the baked breakfast goods to 5 hotels I've worked at and continue to be a baking powerhouse on the peninsula. I grabbed a beef torta, couple tamales, and a piece of double chocolate cake. The torta was grilled panini style and served with all the vegetables one would want on a grilled sandwich and none you wouldn't. The tamales were authentic tasting and wonderful and the dessert deserves a 3rd paragraph. The dessert... The double chocolate cake was good but could have been just slightly more moist. There was a perfect amount of choco frosting on it that did not hinder the taste of the cake too much. I got a few donuts and a lemon-coconut tartish thing for the coworkers. Overall, a great place to stop in a have a meal. The only seating is a few tables outside the bakery and one or two inside. See you at the counter! read more

Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is a little messy but the product and the service far outweigh the looks. They made birthday cakes for us. They were reasonably price and they were delicious. It was a plain white cake and the filling inside wasn't your typical strawberry preserves. It was fresh slices strawberries in a light sauce. It was more then we expected and I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a birthday cake and other pastries. Every sweet goodie looked delicious. I haven't tried those yet but will soon.
