Staff is always friendly when we stop by and the food is always on point. They have a little eating area outside so you get to enjoy your food right away. Our favorites are their chilaquiles rojos and torta de milanesa con quesillo. read more

What a great little gem we discovered while visiting Monterey. We are always looking for a good bakery and Yelp reviews brought us here and Lupita's did not disappoint! We literally had to hold back and not keep piling on our tray of goodies! Everything we tried was scrumptious! The young lady behind the counter was very helpful and sweet. We came here sense I was looking for a good bakery to tryu in the area. It was even more wond3erful when I found out it was a Mexican bakery. Yes, they have American cookies, scones, & bagels, & donuts, but, it is mostly Mexican. I just wish they had signs written in both Spanish & English as I am not familiar with Mexican pastries. However, the service is friendly & they will answer any questions you have. Even a customer siad "Very good." upon seeing us entering. I had the pastry that was like a donut filled with custard; it was slightly crispy with smooth custard. Their churros; crispy on the outside & moist on the inside; generously topped with cinimin & sugar. My mother, aunt, & uncle thought their scones were okay. I would definitely come back next time I am in the area. So, for wonderful Mexican pastries with friendly service at low prices in a casual atmosphere, Lupita's cannot be beat. Lupita's strikes again! Once again, completely delicious food! The quality of their food is so good that you won't feel that yucky takeout feeling after eating there! You will feel like your Mexican mom made you a batch of rice and beans! The key is their oaxacan roots! I love how they make their quesadillas with like a thick masa. The tamales are bomb, masa is seasoned correctly and then the fillings are so good. we love the chicken mole ones but also like the rajas and the salsa verde. Today we branched out to try their tortas and new burrito bowls. outstanding! Ask for some Oaxacan cheese on your burrito bowl! Okay, now the bakery... There is always a debate on who has the best donuts on the Monterey Peninsula, I always hear about the donut places, but for me Lupita's is the best. their donut is substantial and then the chocolate on top is decadent! I really keep saying, who would go to any sole donut shop when you can get so much variety here? Donuts, donut holes, cakes, cookies, pan dulce! and my ultimate favorite... a loaf of morning glory bread!!! Like a carrot cake bread with oats! trust me! super delicious! I'm giving Lupita's Bakery 2 out of 5 stars. The thing is, the selection of bread is not as big or great as they make it seem on their Instagram account. They don't have many of the breads they post on there which is pretty disappointing and misleading. Also, the staff is not friendly. The bread though is good (nothing special though besides the fact that is not as oily as other ones at other bakeries) and if you go at night, it'll usually be fresh & warm. read more

I can't recommend Lupitas bakery enough. My husband and I LOVE going for their tortas, and of course their pan dulce too. The workers are always so sweet and friendly. They made a delicious tres leches cake for my mom's birthday, it was a big & customized order but they made it stress free for me. I love this place and have recommended them to others! read more

On our way to Monterey we stopped in and bought some sweet bread. It all looked good but unfortunately it wasn't good. The bread was stale, dry and you can taste the baking soda. Also for being a Latin bakery with their display of Mexican chocolate for sale, they don't make Mexican hot chocolate only watery hot chocolate from a machine. This bakery has the all the good bread but I have to say customer service sucks very rude and not friendly nor welcoming besides that a bakery should always have coffee ready .
