    chilaquiles

A quiet neighborhood joint they are clearly a family operated joint. I had chilaquiles  and they were pretty good. I've had better.. much better. I only cone here again if I was close.

    Machaca plate and Menudo
    Stephanie V.

Hands down, probably one of the best places for Menudo on a cold day. Meat (tripe) for the menudo was tender and didn't have that smell of organ meat (iykyk). Family owned and very friendly. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. My boyfriend got the machaca plate and he enjoyed it. Serving for both orders was just enough.

Sometimes you just want cheap, good authentic Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. Everyone was chatting away in Spanish, but the waitress was easy to talk to in English. I've never been to this neighborhood, but nneeded to eat before driving an hour home. My taco was overoverflowing with really flavorful chopped chicken which was delicious. I couldn't finish my burrito after that! It was hefty and good too smothered in green salsa. They don't serve chips and salsa perhaps because they know the meal is so filling

This Agua Fresca is made from Kiwi's and Cherries - best juice I've ever tasted !!!
    Seb F.

I was Fixin' to cure my Menudo Cravin' So I hear this place makes a mean Menudito...! There's gonna be a cow with one less stomach tomorrow morning... First things first ... the Agua Fresca is almost empty... today is a Kiwi Cherry delight! Like OMG WOW said BECK AGAIN best Agua Fresca IVE EVER TASTED... Careful the kiwi seeds were getting caught in my throat...! But oh so worth it... The Chilaquiles were special... the refried beans exquisito!!! The Carnita taco - incredible Wait here comes the Menudo... Like the Cookie Monster I behave... This Menudo is not for the "faint of heart" and I don't mean like if you have a bad heart you shouldn't be filling up on pieces of Tripa and Cow Stomach bits...you should!!! Especially if you have a bad heart!!! What I mean is that its an acquired taste... not for everyone...this one's for the Spanish peeps...!!! I finished my bowl like a hungry hippo... You can get your Menudo with or without Maíz or Corn kernels... I chose to have WITH Then the Chili; Oregano; and Onions along with all the lemons get squeezed in... Menudo THE BAND could of been playing on the radio right about now and I would of been ok with that too...NOOT!!! Maybe Magnetos "Vuela Vuela" i COULD handle playing on the radio... Don't bother me I'm eating my Menudo! Me likey Tripa... me want more Tripa...there's like pieces of tripa I don't even remember trying as a kid... then it all comes back to me... My amnesia is cured ... Me like swimming in a sea of Tripa!!! Yum Yum... Lupita's ! You complete me... My shirt hates you now; it's speckled with little red spots now... So if you're thinking of coming to Lupita's better dress down... And bring a shirt that has like a tomato color ... Me need new shirt now!!! Anybody know a good dry cleaning place around here!? Ya hea !!?? https://youtu.be/ijzflFVYBGo

    Huevos rancheros
    Cecilia T.

A former local introduced me to this delightful neighborhood spot. He called it "authentic Mexican breakfast." The huevos rancheros were much more full of flavor than breakfast has any right to be. The salsa was tangy and the rice and beans are something I'm going to be thinking about for a long time. I could have eaten just a bowl of them and been very happy. The beans are creamy and the rice is fluffy. Topped with a little red salsa from the personal bowl they give you - that was breakfast heaven. We also had the egg and chorizo burrito, wet, which was just as good. There are no frills here, but that actually makes the vibe better. People who know, know. And you can bring your dog with you to the sidewalk seating area.

Came in this morning right at opening. Delicious menudo hit the spot fornsure with this cold weather . Staff friendly as usual, cafecito nice and warm, parking was easy peezy

    Maggot.
    Lizbeth L.

Unless you like to eat maggots, do yourself a favor and stay away. Sundays are usually packed since their menudo is "good", this is something we have grown accustomed to since coming here for years as locals. Takeout it was! Unfortunately we found a maggot at the bottom of the bowl.

    Hairs on my Menudo

This morning my family and I got menudo for breakfast to-go and as we were about to eat we found HAIRS in the menudo meat. This was disgusting and we right away returned it to Lupita's and got a refund but they refused to return us the surcharge for using credit card. Btw the cook came out and said the hairs were animal hairs

    Raleys has better Mexican food

This place is disgusting! This isn't real Mexican food, and they use very cheap low quality ingredients that make you feel like you ate 10 bags of candy on an empty stomach. If you want enchiladas, do yourself a favor and go to Raleys. I'm not even exaggerating, the enchiladas at Raleys are much better! I just left Lupitas and hardly even touched my food. Came to Raleys to get enchiladas cause of how bad the food is at Lupitas

Even my son LOVED HIS FOOD!

My husband introduced me to this place when we started dating 10 years ago! We've been faithful customers over the years. It had been almost 2 years since we last came around. They might have changed the look a bit, but the flavor stays the same. Which is what keeps us coming back. I always order the same plate, it's just so full of flavor & can never go wrong with papas con chorizo. Menudo is only on the weekends I believe & it's delicious. I'm very picky with where I eat specific plates from & the menudo here is one of the best to me. Its a small place that feels like home, weekend are sure to be busy but the wait shouldn't be to long unless you have a big party. Everyone is really friendly as if they've known you for years.

    Oregano, lemon, onion, red chili
    Ruby G.

A great neighborhood restaurant. Nice ambiance, there is a TV but sound is muted so easy to hold a conversation. Have been there a few times with my husband for breakfast, service is always good and friendly. Finally went there on a Saturday so was able to order the menudo with hominy. The menudo came with all the fixings I expect, oregano, lemon, onion, and red chili flakes. The menudo was tasty and not greasy. There is only street parking near the restaurant but have always managed to find a parking spot.

    Nicolas R.

Its 12 pm and this place is pretty full. Nice place to come with your family or friends. The employees are working pretty hard and the cashiers have a great attitude. Ordered a burrito beans, rice, and asada. Pretty Good Burrito. But not as big as I thought it would be. Im skinny so If you're a big boy , order 2 or some tacos on the side. Im definitely getting another burrito here forsure. The red "salsa" is hotter than a mother.. but that's my opinion. Im sure others will enjoy it.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco.
