Stopped by for a quick meal before a birthday dinner and the food was phenomenal. I needed some help with the menu - their staff was very kind and helpful. I got 3 kinds of burritos, the standout was the pork marinated with red sauce. I've driven past it for decades, so lucky to have stopped by for lunch. Inside it's like walking into the past. Hopefully they keep it that way since there aren't a lot of restaurants with the retro vibe anymore. I think their burritos will be requested a lot now! read more

WOw! Jus WOW! It been a while since I had such delicious green chili verde. I m a bit disappointed at myself for not discovering this place sooner. Better late than never, right? Was getting my morning coffee and craving some savory foods. Happened to find this place on Yelp. Called in to order. Was advised that the wait would be about 20 minutes because they were busy. 4realz! They were supAaa busy. I saw the line out the door when trying to find a parking. I decided to just park and waited in the car for a bit more. When I got inside the restaurant it was a full house. Kinda look like they were having a conference or something Hahh everyone would turn around and look at you.. The owner said the food wasn't ready so I waited for like another 15 minutes. While waiting I noticed there were tons of Togo orders. Mostly for burritos...I know what I m getting next time lol Also, people were entering nonstop. I m confident that my food would be good lol Yup! It was friGGin delicious. Just the presentation of the enchilada was mouthwatering lol Like I said, the chili verde was so yummy. These maybe the best enchiladas I've ever had. Omg! This little restaurant is a tiny little corner spot that is worth a trip over to Cypress Park anytime. The service was friendly and as quick as they could go. My order got stuck behind a huge to go order so one of the servers came over and said that second Mexican Coke is free cause your order took so long to come out. Problem solved! Thats all it takes. I knew what was happening but the fact that they acknowledged it is a prime example of how you deliver excellent customer service. I cannot say enough about how amazing the enchiladas were. Even the refried beans had flavor! The heat on the enchiladas was perfect. Every bite a perfect bite and the heat built as I finished the dish. This huge plate and two Mexican Cokes came to a whopping total of $18. I want to move into this place! read more

They start serving soup on Thursdays through to the weekend. I really wanted the Thursday soup special but they already ran out. OG Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant opened in the early 60s. Been coming here since 2006 and it's always delicious. Hands down the best Chile Relleno in LA. The Chile Verde is rich in flavor and savory goodness, so tender and looking like it just fell off the bone. La Abeja is an institution that exemplifies the family spirit of LA. This review is solely for the chile relleno burrito because it's the only thing I have tried here and will likely ever try because it is their most bestest creation. A burrito with a chile relleno in it, what more can you want?? Their beans are really good (#2 beans in NELA behind Chicos), and their chile is cooked well and the cheese is melted and delicious. It's the perfect vehicle for eating chile rellenos on the go. Are there other things here I should probably try? Absolutely. Will I as long as the chile relleno burrito exists? The food is delicious. I enjoy the Friday Albondigas soup special, the milanesa and I especially enjoy the yummy beans. It's uncomfortable walking into the restaurant bc just about every time I go in, in the middle of the main dining area is aways a table of men sitting and talking with the owner and male server and the men stare when you walk in and I catch them looking when I'm eating.
