I genuinely don't understand how Lupo Pizzeria is sitting at 2.9 stars... did we all eat at the same place or did Yelp accidentally mix them up with a gas station hot dog roller? Betty H. says "$15 + tax + tip = $20 for 3 slices of pizza. are you kidding me??? no thanks. i'll buy myself an amy's pie and make it at home." Totally fair, Betty--but if we're comparing a frozen Amy's Kitchen pie to fresh, hot pizza made right in front of you... that's like bringing a selfie to a professional photoshoot and calling it the same thing Respect the home oven hustle, but some of us prefer our pizza without preheating instructions and existential regret. If you ever feel like upgrading from 'microwave chic' to 'why is this so good,' meet me at Lupo one day and I'll gladly buy you 3 slices for $20. Morgan F. says "$18 chicken parm. 4 chicken fingers with Mariana. Awful. Awful. Awful. Life long resident. This place is a disgrace." Morgan F, I'll admit... I'm not sure who Mariana is, but if she showed up with your chicken fingers instead of marinara sauce, Lupo may have a staffing situation to sort out But hey--whether it's marinara or Mariana, as long as something's there for dipping, you're halfway to happiness. Next time make sure it's the sauce... unless Mariana starts getting great reviews too. Moral of the story is that I eat lunch here basically every day (yes, I might have a problem, but at least it's a delicious one), and the food is consistently fire. The pizza? Ridiculous. The kind where you tell yourself "just one slice" and suddenly you're staring at an empty box questioning your life choices in the best way possible. And let's talk about the guy behind the counter--the tall, handsome one with the fresh cut. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but he's also genuinely one of the nicest, most helpful people you'll meet. At this point I'm not sure if I come for the food or the top-tier customer service... but honestly, why choose? If this place is a 2.9, then I must be living in an alternate universe where great food and great people don't count. Do yourself a favor and ignore the rating, trust your taste buds, and go see for yourself. Just don't take my usual spot. read more

Literally worst service ever! Now to be fair, the pizza was good, hostess pleasant, and atmosphere was decent. Our server should be fired as far as I'm concerned, he has 0 service skills and extremely rude as hell for no reason. We came in on what id consider a moderately busy day, tables turning over and no wait at all. Our hostess was sweet and had us seated. Here is where it gets bad, we wait for what felt like forever as the other waitress had to literally tell me sorry our server will be with us soon (soon meaning having already waited for 10 min plus). Once he finally arrived, this guy was the worst! He didn't look at us, asked us for "tap water" after never greeting us, then after I order sparkling he leaves. He comes back with our sparkling only to dump it into our cups and leaves it there, not even handing or seating it in front of, this jerk slammed our cups then walks off! He comes back and we order 2 pizzas! Then he leaves never to be found ever again! In which case, we have to harass random servers for everything, sprite, our check and box to go! The other waiters as far as I am concerned sucked because you clearly see us struggling and our sever never comes back and you don't step in or even check on us. The worst part is that he passed us multiple times to check on 2 white women next to us, was laughing and chatting with another large table of white people and constantly behind the bar playing around (literally no one at the bar). If management believes this is the type of service or servers who should be at your establishment then this place should close! I refuse to believe that this was a one off as I see other reviews on here of horrible treatment and I am sure that this guy is racist, and has no place in a restaurant in DC period. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever! read more
