I think the crust by itself was ever so slightly bland, after eating the cheese/guanciale/onion combination, so next time I would use the additional parmesan or chili oil to dip the crust in. Rude and unprofessional host !! Walked in and didn't realize you needed a reservation on wed at 530pm ! Was told it's about 45- 1 hour wait ! Lupo is one of my new favorites. The service was warm and welcoming. We had a house special and a margherita pizza and both were excellent, slightly charred, chewy with flavorful sauce and fresh toppings. I also had a caesar side salad and it was fantastic with great flavor and a little bit of a crunch. The vibe was dark and cozy. There appear to be a lot of first or second dates at the window tables. The space is good - my only critique is in some spots, the tables are small and very squished. I assume they do this to be accommodating but in our case, it was almost like communal dining and we could hear every single part of our neigbor's conversation. To that end - it's a bit of a loud spot. I'd recommend the owners add some sound baffling, especially in the back of the restaurant. The fourth time we went, there was a child screaming in a booth nearby and we could barely hear each other for the whole meal. But if you haven't been to Lupo - do yourself a favor and go! read more

Excellent pizza! And incredible ice cream. A bit pricey, but on par with the upscale pizza places in Seattle and split between two people the value is decent. Living in the neighborhood, I can see why this place is popular - especially if you're within walking distance. It's an excellent pizza option in Fremont, does not have an overwhelming menu, and the ambiance is great for date night or friends. In terms of how this compares to other buzzworthy pizza options in Seattle, it's comparable to other upscale Neapolitan-style pizza here. Maybe this is a feature, rather than a bug, but I've found that toppings can easily slide off the pizza and I could use a bit more flavor and interesting toppings, but they certainly do the classics well with high quality ingredients. Having been a couple of times now, I like the specials more often than the classics. The marinara and the margherita are both decent, but out of the classics my favorite is probably the hot coppa. Can't go wrong with the popular combo of hot honey, burrata, and a meat. In all cases, our crust has always been nice and pillowy, although the base to support the ingredients is a bit too flat and fragile to prevent ingredients from sliding off. Among the starters, I like the new chicory salad for a basic starter to get some veggies in. The bread is plain but gets the job done if that's what you're after, although I'd recommend skipping if the main goal is pizza here. The ice cream is another story. Some of my favorite ice cream in Seattle, and the classic salted chocolate chip seems to always be on the menu and is my go-to. It is perfectly sweet and salty at once, is malty and very creamy. It was so good that we really wanted to try it again. Unfortunately, when we came a second time the pasta and bone marrow wasn't on the menu due to their menu changing at times. But it didn't happen bc it was a surprise trip and my bf had a lot of class 6 months later I'm back in Seattle again during spring break and we were like we have to go for our 3 year anniversary but my schedule was too packed SO FINALLY. 2 months later aka 1 full year since our failed walk in...my bf graduates! We make a reservation! But we realize it's Father's Day...too late...so we cancel our Lupo reservation...and we cry a bit bc no Lupo... At this point we don't even know if it's good...we just want Lupo. We're adamant! So we make ANOTHER reservation for THE DAY BEFORE I LEAVE. We take a bus for 20 min and arrive right! on! time! I remember really wanting to get the pasta 1 year ago but there we were with a flickering candle between the two of us in a dark dark room and there was NO PASTA ON THE MENU. We'd waited so long that the menu had changed We got the Cacio e Pepe + guanciale and Margherita + a house shrub (this time it was mint + champagne vinegar + oj + sparkling water/soda?) + we got a spoonful of strawberry peach sorbet(?). Usually when we get two things at a place my bf graciously gives me more of the flavor I like but this time he would NOT let go of the Cacio e Pepe. I was so hungry I bit the pizza the wrong way and squirted hot tomato sauce down my throat. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and provided recommendations from the menu when we couldn't decide on a second pizza besides the margherita. We got the caesar salad, the margherita, and cacio e pepe pizza. The caesar salad was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The pizzas, on the other hand, were fantastic. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Fremont area. The pizza is always consistently good and their cocktails are great as well. Staff are friendly and helpful. You can usually get a seat at the bar if it's just two of you. Or else it's good to book a reservation ahead of time as the restaurant is pretty small. Cute restaurant w/ dim lighting and intimate seating. Definitely a perfect date night spot. We made reservations for Monday at 5:30PM. The restaurant started to pick up a little after we arrived. We ordered: Roasted Cabbage Salad - A great appetizer to have before pizza. Roasted cabbage was easy to digest with the vinaigrette and touches of mandarins. Hot Coppa - The marinara sauce had the tiniest bit of tanginess to it. Crust was super doughy and light. Due to the pizza being very thin, the pizza did become soggy quickly. Cacio E Pepe w/ guanciale - Savory and delicious. The addition of guanciale gave the pizza a nice touch of saltiness to it. Crust was doughy and due to there being less sauce, the pizza didn't get as soggy as the Hot Coppa. Both pizza crusts had a bit of charr to them. Service was prompt and friendly. Parking is a bit difficult to find so no harm in coming earlier. We ended up street parking within the residential area. I really went back and forth about actually writing this review. I recognize from being in healthcare that people have bad days, and it's difficult to judge a place solely on one experience. However, I wouldn't go back here even if the pizza was free, for multiple reasons, so I decided to share my experience in hopes that the horrible staff takes note. Maybe try caring? Who knows. I can't perform miracles. The manager / host had the absolute worst customer service. No ounce of anyone in this establishment was kind. They almost took pleasure in talking down to people. I watched him do this not only to my group but others that came through. We came in with a baby and did not have a reservation. We were asked to wait for up to 45 minutes. Fair enough, no problem at all. The baby started fussing, as they do, so about 30 minutes in (we assumed, we truly were not paying attention) we asked kindly if they had any idea how much longer it might be. The response: "37 MINUTES YOU'VE BEEN WAITING. I TOLD YOU UP TO 45." In the loudest and rudest tone. It was distressing. Please know I was kind and not at all annoyed, it was just a question. At this point my friend (the baby's mom) suggests that we order to-go given the baby won't stop fussing. I went back up and tried to be even nicer, though the manager was horrific ... and was treated the same way. He went on about how we can't do to-go and we need to just sit. Basically shaming us for existing. My friend pointed out we weren't trying to skip and would wait our regular turn, only she had to leave with the baby and we would stay and wait for the pizza. "NO. That CANNOT happen. What don't you understand here?!" Then he continued to shame us. I was visibly upset at this point and had to turn around to disengage. It was so uncalled for. And I was being nothing but nice to avoid conflict. It's a question. Not a demand. We were about to leave but the manager came to us and said "WELL, your table is ready so just wait a moment and we will seat you." At this point my fried and her baby are leaving, the manager is upset. "Why are you leaving?! The table is ready!" She tries to explain that at this point she can't keep him there due to the baby just not having a good evening. The other 3 of us stayed back to just eat. Sunk cost and waiting at another restaurant wasn't the smarter move. We ordered 3 pizzas, drinks, and a Caesar salad. The pizza was soggy and essentially overly cheesed (this is coming from someone who is cheese friendly, even) you just couldn't taste anything but cheese and wet bread. All 3 of them. The Caesar was good but the drinks were watered down and bad. Now. Everyone has off nights. Sure. And I was stupid enough to not read the reviews first - which also speak about the rude human. But this entire experience was uncalled for. Human kindness and decency goes a long way. I am someone who lives in NYC and loves a bitchy host, but never in my time there has one of them been nearly as rude or just downright mean. They are sassy in NY, not down right mean. Do better. Please. Also, this is not a place to bring children. It's not set up well for it and they seem to be really upset that children exist in their space. For the 'za- I got the one with burrata & hot honey (can't remember the name); but a true star of the show in terms of balance of flavors, modernity, and quality. The crust is chewy, thin, and made with care. For ambiance, expect some loud voices around as it's a small place with low lighting, with people rightfully excited to eat. We brought in an outside cake, and the GM even recommended Paper Cakes in Fremont -- I'm so glad he did, it was perfect. That kind of thoughtfulness and hospitality really stood out. Any pizza place that introduces their sourdough starter to customers and displays it on a shelf is a place where you probably want eat. They take the dough and the crust that seriously -- and it shows. I've been to Lupo half a dozen times in the past year, and with each meal, I kick myself for not having visited sooner. Most recently, we were there for a pre-show dinner (we had an event across the street at Fremont Abbey), and were shocked the place was full around 5:45 on a Thursday night. We shouldn't have been; the food is just that good. I wanted to ease out of Dry January and was pleasantly surprised by the wine list of all natural wines. I chose a glass of skin contact and my date had a rosé. Together, we shared the celery and farro salad, which also comes with burrata, hazelnut, and grapefruit. It's the perfect size to share, and a beautiful mix of flavors. The fresh mint on top was *chefs kiss*. For our main course, we split the margherita pizza. I often say that you can gauge the quality of a pizza place by tasting the simplest ingredients. The margarita here excels in that department. The dough is soft and chewy with just the perfect char. My only regret is that we didn't have time for a second pizza. Lupo in Italian means "wolf," and as I write this, my stomach is already growling to return. read more

Lupo is an intimate space that contains some of the best pizza in the city and possibly the best ice cream as well. When you arrive there is a nice aroma that greets you before you are seated. The tables are close together so the volume is high in the restaurant. There is a small board with a few daily specials and then there is a small menu and I'm sure everything on it is excellent as everything we tried was delicious. For a drink I got their weekly cocktail which had tequila, lime, orange, capaletti and calabrian chili (which is an ingredient I'd never had in a cocktail before) and it was really nice. It had a nice balance of spice and wasn't overpowering. Then we had some olives, a delicious salad and two types of pizza before finishing the meal with a small scoop of ice cream. We got the hot coppa pizza and the sausage pizza and both were excellent and completely different. The ice cream was the biggest surprise of the evening though as it may have been the best pistachio ice cream I've had. It had a lot of texture to it from the pistachios and I really enjoyed that.
