Haven't been to a Luu's in years! I was craving it so luckily there's one in Manteca. Arrived and it doesn't look right, but gave it the benefit of the doubt, because crappy looking places can make a mean plate! What I didn't know was that it was going to be mean to my tummy. About 2 hours after eating a chicken teriyaki bowl with kimchee and hot sauce with a side of miso soup, I felt incredibly nauseous. I initially just thought to myself that I was having morning sickness at 7pm...despite being one of the lucky few pregnant women that hasn't thrown up during my pregnancy...and ate something to feel better. Didn't fully work because I fought nausea all night (I hate to throw up). It came out the other end the next morning. So much for cravings. I won't return. read more

This place is awesome. I wanted someplace fast, cheap, and on the healthier side, but didn't want the same old fast food/drive thru kind of food. I found Luu's online and ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl and it was more than enough to keep me full. Chicken was cooked to perfection, the bowl also came with veggies. Super cheap and so yummy! Teriyaki sauce is amazing!! Oh! And.....not only was the staff super friendly, but they took all the necessary precautions to keep their customers safe during this crazy pandemic. You can call ahead or go in for take-out. For a first timer there, I am utterly impressed. I'll be back for sure to try the beef!! read more

My kids and i have been coming here for many years I used to walk there with my children. They were not even tell enough to look over the counter at the time. they would love to get the chicken bowl with the vegetables. I would order their spicy wings and shrimp. Now my grandchildren and I are doing the same . they barely can look over the counter. Lol Great memories awesome food and FRESH by the order!! Our go to teriyaki chicken/beef restaurant. My family has been coming here for as long as I can remember and it's always been just as good. Their chicken bowls and beef bowls are delicious and always perfectly cooked! the teriyaki sauce is some of the best. Recently tried their miso soup and it's great! Although the last time we dined in, I ordered it and it was barely warm. No biggie though. We've ordered their chicken wings in the past and they're great. I've been coming here since it opened, like almost 20 years ago! I used to LOVE this place. My husband and I hadn't been there in a few years and we decided to get take out. This place needs to shut down for a couple days and get scrubbed down. This place is so filty and disgusting I can't believe it's still open and hasn't been flagged by environmental health. We had to use napkins as not to touch anything! So much dirt and grime everywhere. Couldn't even use the restroom it is so filthy. They cook the food in plain sight which is good and food is still okay, chicken was dry and the pork, but their teriyaki sauce is still amazing. Would be nice if they clean the place. DIVE IN. Don't be scared off by the old building or the inside of this dingy restaurant. Your gonna want to get this order to go STAT. This ain't no fancy place. This is down and dirty grub run, for the rice and meat cravings sort of place. I put all my money on the chicken teriyaki bowl. Tasty chicken served with steamed rice and vegetables. Now the tip is to tell them no cabbage, extra vegetables. I hate cabbage. The other must haves are the sauces! And you really need to sauce it up, get saucey, extra saucey. The hot terykai sauce poured on top of the chicken, alternated with their sweet and sour sauce. Then the chili sauce on the white rice. Also grab an order of the crab wontons, delicious. If your doing the low carb, decline the rice for extra meat and extra veggies. Cheap obsession, great for some and not for others. Depending on your taste you may become addicted to this place. It's been years (probably since high school) since I've been here. My son and I were looking for lunch and I remembered that I used to eat here a lot. My son loves chicken bowls and was up for it. It didn't take long for us to get our food, even with the amount of other patrons waiting. The price point is also fairly reasonable. Since it's been years, I didn't realize that we needed to get additional teriyaki sauce to go with our chicken bowls. The chicken bowls were good, but since we took our food to go, we didn't have additional teriyaki sauce and our chicken was a bit dryer than we would have liked. read more

Only downfall I noticed when I walked into Luu's restaurant it's kinda torn down and had a funny smell inside like old furniture they need to upgrade or remodel the inside. The smell turned me off could use update on flooring and seating area. The concession stand where you get your own sauces were kinda dirty. I love this place. It's been around since I was in high school, so it was appropriate I came back for lunch before my 10-year high school reunion. The standard teriyaki hasn't changed, and it's pretty good. I changed it up, seeing an "expanded" menu and got sesame chicken. It was chicken in tempura batter. Hell yes! My gf ended up eating off my plate. There's also a self-serve condiment bar, including kim chee. The quality of the kim chee is only ok, but it's free! I love how it's like a dingy little dive. I remember that it seemed even more so on rainy, Central nights! Too bad they use styrofoam. My gf wanted to complain, but being hella Asian they probably wouldn't have cared. After working in SF and dealing with my mom, she knew better than to waste her breath. At least they let me have free refills! read more

I order a teriyaki bowl with no meat and all veggies. They always are very consistent with their cooking. The rice and veggies always taste fresh and are cooked really well... not to mention their terriyaki sauce is amazing, which probably explains why people always take more than a fair share of it lol (I do too, not gonna lie). A perfect hole-in-the-wall type of Teriyaki place. The exterior of the restaurant is a little outdated, and the interior could use some remodeling, but forget about all of that. The important part is that the food is excellent, the service is quick, and the prices are great. I grew up in the Seattle area, where there were little family-owned-and-run teriyaki places and pho places on just about every corner. Since I moved to the Manteca area, I have been searching for the same type of thing here. While there aren't any good pho places in Manteca, I am glad that I finally checked out Luu's Chicken Bowl and found it to be a good, affordable teriyaki place. Just a tip, though: if you are used to teriyaki sauce that is more than just corn syrup, you may need to add a healthy dose of soy sauce to the sauce they provide here. read more

This is a quick bite to eat of fulfilling food. I got a chicken bowl on my visit which had lots of rice, topped with teriyaki grilled chicken and cabbage. I saved half for my lunch the following day. It was tasty and I like they have a dispenser where you can get extra sauce at no extra charge. My vegan coworker got a vegetarian bowl. It's nice to find vegan/vegetarian options. read more

My office is in the building next door, so I've eaten my share of chicken bowl. I love the ginger bowl...it's a staple for me. Occasionally I'll get the sweet n sour pork if I want a whole lot of rice and an egg roll...its a lot of food. Get there at 11 am when they open or during the lunch hour for the fresh cooked chicken. I've gotten there late, occasionally and the chicken at 2 or 3 o'clock can be a bit dry...but still edible. Very quick and friendly service. If you take it to go, make sure to get your sauces and napkins for yourself. read more
