Just got a new car and wanted to detail it. So my brother and I went to this location and went through the wash. On the way in I dropped some money and the staff was nice enough to let me know. I TRIED to tip them but they refused to take it. Anthony was the person I spoke to and he had a great attitude and so did his staff. Every time I come here I have a pleasant experience with the staff even though I sometimes come late. That's why I will wait to come here instead of doing my washes at home or doing them elsewhere. It's worth the experience to me, especially because of the staff at this location. Last week at the Point Lona location I paid for a car wash and got almost to the head of the line when their conveyor belt broke. Sat in line for 39 min while they tried to repair, and then got a gift receipt. No biggie-inconvenient, but machines break and they tried to make it right. I returned this week to use gift receipt and was informed that it was only good for two days after issue. I'm no lawyer, but I'm 99% sure this is totally illegal in CA- gift cards or refunds do not expire. I think the employee knew this too, and he let me through for a basic wash. If this policy is true, LUV Car wash needs to change that policy before a lawyer shows up and dues them for fraud. read more

And I was onto the second Car with the membership. I've had a few minor issues along the way, and despite them having vacuums that breakdown all the time. running out of towels that are not washed in spot free rinse and rollers and other things breaking down in the car wash itself, running out of wash and rinse fluids in wash process. And The handheld wash wand at the beginning of the wash is broken all the time. Despite all of this, I still came here out of habit and location until recently. On December 17, 2025 was my last time after the luv car wash tore my rear bumper cover off my car. Luv carwash told me that because my car is a 2019. it is not covered under their liability coverage for damage repairs. Because their coverage is only for cars that are five years or newer. Then they told me look at the liability sign and basically to kick rocks. Absolutely horrible service after going there for five years and not what I expected from that carwash. Now I have to pay a $500 to deductible for something that was not my fault to have my car repaired. Please take my advice and do not go to this wash. it is not worth them tearing up your car along with the horrible service. Even the manager on duty told me they we're at fault and would fix my car. As it turns out in life things happen for a reason and I found a much better car wash. Superstar Car Wash right up the street. so much more of a Professional organization. Fluffy absorbent towels washed in spot free rinse, both vacuums work and it is a very professional set up. And most importantly a wash that actually cleans your car. I was so happy going through the car wash with my rental car and will be setting up my new membership there. Needless to say I canceled my luv car wash account. I came to the LUV Car Wash on Balboa Avenue, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything here works exactly as it should -- the wash cycle is long enough that every step feels thorough, all the lights and indicators are working so you know what kind of wash you're getting, and even the drying phase is decent so your car comes out almost completely dry. The place is clean, organized, and I was in and out quickly without feeling rushed. I even had a small accident -- I cut my finger on my own car -- and before I could ask for help, one of the ladies working up front noticed and came over right away with a band-aid. I've been a Luv Car Wash member for about two years since the value is so good for the member price. I usually go to the location on my route home off the 5, but I stopped by the Kearny Mesa location this time and I'm genuinely impressed. The wash itself was excellent on the first pass (though I usually run it twice anyway), and the towels were noticeably more moist and effective than at other car washes. Huge shoutout to Quinex, who guided me in and went above and beyond by power-washing all of my Audi's rubber mats without hesitation. That level of service really stood out. Sort of hidden between many businesses, however it wasn't too difficult to find located on Balboa Ave. Choose "All The Luv" wash option with a price point of $22. At the time you could buy monthly plans for the same price, only applies to the first month of the membership. -Likes- The wash cycle was full of suds, slicking the car surface. Roomy, lots of bays for additional cleaning. Vacuums on each side, compressed air, glass cleaner solution and lots of cleaning towels (they were damp with some sort of detailing product, I think). -Dislikes- We had a white car which was mad dirty. While the wash took off a good amount of surface dirt it only solved a portion of the dirtiness leaving a few spots of tar, bug guts and drier stains behind, this is an issue for all kinds of drive through car washes. -Overall- It's a sufficient car washing option if you're in the area that offers a few more cleaning tools than others I've been too. read more

Says they close at 8 online, got there at 6:04pm and they put cones out and turned me away. The sun is still out, and it's two hours before closing. For the last three weeks half of the car washing feartures were broken and not working: all the left side rotating things, the water hose thats suppose to rinse back and forth has only been spraying in one direction, etc. this is making my car dirtier rather than clean. I asked the person working at front when it was going to be fixed and they said not yet. Its a bummer since we pay monthly and it still hasnt been fixed. read more

I have no love for Luv Car Wash. As others have mentioned, we were signed up for a membership without consent. Unfortunately we didn't discover this until about a year later. My fault for not realizing sooner but I certainly wouldn't expect such a thing to happen. The cost of membership is decent if you go often enough and your car will get clean. But using shady business practices is a good reason to stay away. There are plenty or other car wash places in the neighborhood. read more

I used to be a regular customer. In the past Luv used to be a good carwash for a reasonable price. The last few visits were less than satisfactory, but I live close by, so I decided to try it again today. The carwash machine was badly aligned: my entire car was soaped, but the first rinser only rinsed the left side of the car and left the right side all soapy. Since all the pressure fell on the left side, my back windshield viper was knocked out of place and the blade was destroyed. So, I ended up with a car that was left dirty on the right side, since the final rinser did not get all the soapy dirt off. When I complained to the manager and asked for a refund or compensation for the broken windshield viper, he arrogantly answered: you bought a basic car wash you cannot expect to be compensated for a brittle part that we break... Also, there were no clean towels today... the sign said ... sorry, our washing machine broke... Needless to say: this was the last time they saw me - bad carwash machine and arrogant management, plus broken windshield viper... read more

My husband and I both used this car wash regularly for about six months and loved it. The job is so thorough and the staff is always pleasant; the stations to clean car interior are top notch - free use of buffing towels! However, I canceled both of our memberships because I realized I was overpaying. I sent an email asking about the "household" discount and I never heard back so I canceled our memberships. Regardless of how much I liked the service, being overcharged with no adjustment offer or response to my email, is unacceptable. It's too bad, I miss Luv car wash. read more

Enter Maddy, a 20-year-old manager at LUV on Balboa, who not only helped me connect with AAA (44 minutes out) but even offered me a ride home to grab my spare key. Horrible experience!!!!!!! I have hesitated to write this review because I hate leaving bad reviews but it has to be done. A few weeks ago I drove up to LUV , went up to the kiosk and was assisted by a woman named Wendy. She went over some of the memberships that LUV offers but I told her that I wasn't interested. She kept pushing the memberships on me and I politely told her again that I wasn't interested. Not only was she pushy but she made me feel uncomfortable. She started to make comments about whether I could afford it or not. I immediately thought to myself if this woman was prejudiced. Once this awkward moment passed I paid for my service and drove through the tunnel for my car wash. As I entered the tunnel I noticed a gentleman by the name of Quincy. He appeared bored and annoyed to be there. Making me feel as if I and others around him annoyed him. If that's the case why work there? Why get a job? I'm not saying be overly cheery but keep that nasty attitude at home. Afterwards, I parked to begin drying and vacuuming my car. I needed assistance with getting more towels and I waved an employee down but was immediately ignored. Apparently it was more important to chat with your " buddies" than to help the customer. I was not impressed by this place ! I told my husband about my visit to LUV and it didn't phase him because most recently on one of his visits he noticed that things had changed. Employees were super laid back, non welcoming , and lacked professionalism. He asked Wendy ( the same woman that had assisted me) if there had been any changes in management and she said, 'yes' and went on to provide more information that was unnecessary to tell him. Since this incident my husband has terminated his membership and I having gone for the first time will NEVER be returning. How is it that this location went from having great customer service and management to a place that no one wants to return to. Very deceptive practices!!! It is a new business at same place with the same equipment that they have replaced. Nothing has changed except the silly name and the liberal use of the color purple. (And the prices) See the image for the screen you see upon arrival. The ONLY choice is to select a subscription option. You keep trying this or that but you see no other choice, especially because eventually you notice that a neat row of cars has accumulated behind you. So you press the subscription option, hoping that there is a way out. There is, but wait! Next you get a screen with a long text in bold letters which you agree to subscribe and then, finally, underneath, neatly hidden, there is the option to ask for a single wash. The single wash with no frills is $10. It is twice as much as the previous business charged for a single no-frills wash, but you get EXACTLY THE SAME as you got prior for $5, with the added aggravation at the payment panel.
