I tried this place 4 times out already the 1st one was great I got a gel manicure from the skinniest man there & he did a marvelous job. The 3rd time I got a pedicure from I'm not sure her name is Sophia maybe but she was horrible after I told her no cutting she still cut my toe nails short, she also didn't bother to offer any sandals or even help me put mine on, I told her a deluxe & she gave me a basic pedi, so rude & lazy. Today I went in for a fill, please note this the place was practically empty waited about 10-15 to finally get helped, the man started taking my nails off w/o even telling me was giving me a new set & I didn't even want a new set. He then got on his phone called someone, left me on the table & went to go to the television for about 5 minutes. I got up & left payed the nail take off, never will I return here. So much waiting on Saturday afternoon an hour before closing with only 3 customers inside & around 7 employees. read more

Horrible customer service, the lady who did my gel manicure not only cut me twice on my cuticles on two different fingers AND LAUGHED ABOUT IT nervously, she applied the gel horribly. She even had to redo some of them because they were all clumpy! Never coming back here again! read more

I decided to stop at this salon to try it out. I had a great experience. My nail tech Sue, who I will go back to, was great! She took her time and really made sure I was comfortable at all times. She even told me what the ladies were talking about in there language which made me feel like they weren't talking about the customer or myself. They weren't pushy either with trying to upsell, which made me happy, nothing's more uncomfortable then saying no on multiple occasions as I have in other locations. 30$ was not a bad price for the service and the quality if work was exceptional! I've been here twice and it's been a good experience both times (i always get a mani-gel, pedi). The second time was better and quicker than the first time. The reason that I only gave it 4 stars was because I feel like their pricing is off. I must not be paying attention but each time my total has been the same amount although I've selected different treatments (first pedi was $45, second was $35). New favorite! My neighbor recommended this place and now I had two nice pedicures. Friendly and free plastic liners on the tub! Classic pedicure is $20 and it's as good as at my other favorite places. Pros: plastic liners friendly service nice, new leather massage chairs not too busy... can walk in most times without appointment. Both doors kept open, keeps acetone smell at bay To improve: Needs hot tea or bottled water with services for complete spa experience. Magazines are limited and some are outdated. My daughter and I went here for the first time today. They were busy. We were able to pick polish and hang around for a few minutes before we were able to be seated. They wanted to sit my daughter first in a chair that was next to two occupied seats. I requested to be seated next to her and they told me ok. I told her to wait until we could get chairs next to each other. They told me I was going to sit in the chair to the right, which was still occupied. I stood awkwardly as they finished up the lady's arm massage (I'm super sorry about that by the way). I have no complaints about our nails. We both got gel manicures and the polish looks amazing. Our toes look good too! My only complaint, besides standing awkwardly, is they didn't do a real pedicure on my daughter. She loves having the water run, her feet massaged, etc. but they just painted her toenails. We will return, but I'll be more specific when it comes to her nails next time! read more

Been a long time customer and on my most recent visit I had an awful experience. My toe was cut while they were cutting my cuticle and I ended up with a terrible infection requiring a 10 day course of antibiotics. I called Lux to notify them and had to call three separate times over the course of several days before someone would call me back. When they finally called me back they told me to come in and show them the infection and the bottle of antibiotics I was prescribed. When I got to the nail salon and showed them my swollen toe, I was told that "it wasn't that bad and that I was making a big deal out of nothing!" I was horrified. I will never again go to this nail salon. read more

I LOVE this salon! The women are so kind and gentle with your fingers and toes. I'm 19 wks pregnant and received the BEST massage money could buy. I have swelling in my right foot. After today I have not seen ANY swelling, and I am also able to stand at work for much longer without pain. I also received a gel manicure with a chrome finish, and my nails are absolutely beautiful! I've also received eye brow services from this location and was very happy with the results. I found them through Yelp because I was desperate for my eyebrows to be trimmed and had just moved to San Clemente a few days before. I fully recommend these hard workers and every penny spent today on the services I received were well worth it! read more

Literally the worst nail place I've ever been to. I walked in and asked for a standard manicure- I was told to pick my color and take a seat. I ended up sitting and waiting for over 30 minutes while 5 of the employees were sitting in their chairs talking and looking at their phones. A girl finally came over to me with a a tiny bowl of water and told me to put my hands in it- she said she had to get her tools and would be right back. I sat for ANOTHER 20 minutes waiting. Once the water was cold I considered getting up and leaving but I had already spent nearly and hour there and just wanted a manicure. When she came back out she was on her phone- that's what she was doing the entire time?! The manicure itself was fine- except that she bumped one of my wet nails and completely smudged it. She laughed and then attempted to paint over it but didn't fix it. She finished my nails and told me to just sit and wait a bit for them to dry. No fan, no light, nothing. At this point I've spent 2 hours here and just want to leave. I go to pay and the gentleman at the front looks up and proceeds to finish watching a YouTube video on his phone before letting me pay. SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!! The best part is my nail polish started peeling after one day. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS PLACE. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

It was just the basic mani-pedi but it felt like I had paid for a deluxe. I've been a client at many nail salons in San Clemente, but Lux Nail Spa is head and shoulders above all the others. It is beautiful and immaculate! Every pedicure has a new plastic liner and their tools are sterilized. The very best part of being a client is the people who work there. Everyone is professional and they genuinely care about doing a good job. Steve is my favorite manicurist--he does an excellent job, and has a lot of pride in his work. I can comfortably recommend him to anyone. In all the time I've been going to Lux, I've observed many regular clients who seem pleased with their manicures and pedicures. I've been a pretty regular customer at Lux, but because of my past two experiences, I do not plan to ever return. I made an appointment at 4:00 to get my nails and toes done and arrived just before then. I waited 45 minutes until they began to start on my toes, and it took them over an hour to even get to my nails. I ended up leaving without getting my nails painted because I had to be somewhere, so I made an appointment for the morning. I returned in the morning and the man who did my acrylics made them crooked and painted them worse than I could do myself. I am beyond disappointed. Will not be returning. read more

First time ever to see a Nails salon that looks very elegant and opened space. The place is so clean and the equipments are carefully sanitized. They even use disposable plastic liner for each customer. I really like this and it makes me feel very confident about them. Oh, I forget about their music selection also gave me a good mood. Great place but they let people bring their bratty kids, and the bratty kids 'play' while clueless moms get their nails done. It's incredible and unreal that people bring little kids here and it's allowed. I feel for the owner because what can they do..... The place itself is really nice and clean. However i came in to get a gel manicure today and it had to get redone 3x because the gel polish was too thick and kept wrinkling when placed in the uv. I was there an extra hour just for that. The majority of my nails look nice now but there's 2 that are still a little wrinkly. She has that level of skill and more. She goes for a ruthless abatement of cuticles and callouses. Her foot and leg massages include reflexology elements. I have been to Lux 4 or 5 times, every time has been great. The polish on my manicure and pedicure lasts for weeks, my toe nails need cut before the polish chips. They take their time and pay attention to details. I do miss the jets in the tub but the liner seems more sanitary. read more

I've been here twice now. The first time was on valentines day and I came with my 2 year old daughter and my MIL. We came here after making an appointment somewhere else and waiting nearly 30 minutes past our appointment time. The amazing technicians at Lux got us in within minutes. It was my daughters first manicure/pedicure at a salon and she was more hesitant that I expected. The amazing ladies here made her feel very comfortable and even kept her entertained with lotion (she LOVES putting on lotion) so my MIL and I could enjoy our experience that much more. I got a pedicure and gel manicure. My gel manicure would still probably be on if my nails didn't grow out so quickly. My pedicure was great too. Beyond all of their amazing service I fully expected to pay the full price of a kids mani pedi for my daughter and they only charged me for a polish change on her. So not only did they take time to spend with my daughter and make her experience great, they also charged me less that anticipated. All that to say I am back today for the second time and am equally impressed. read more

I've lived in San Clemente for 2 years now and i finally found my favorite nail salon! Manager Lynn is great! Everyone there is so good!

Despite many of the previous Yelper's opinions of this place, I gave it a try one Saturday morning before a wedding up in OC. I'm from San Diego, but was staying in the San Clemente area for the night and needed a replacement for my normal manicurist (which is always a risk once you have one you love). I tried requesting Steve, since all of the reviews seemed to mention his expertise service but he wasn't available last minute without an appointment. I went in as a walk-in at 9:30 on a Saturday and was seen immediately. The gal that did my gel mani actually even helped me match the color to my existing which usually never happens - they usually try to talk you out of whatever you want I feel like. I got a gel mani & basic pedi and was there for 1 hour exactly for both. Both of the gals that worked on me were extremely meticulous and sweet. They both listened to my requests about shaping my nails, length and even asked multiple times did everything look okay (this is super important to me). Another small but important feature was the quality of their lotion for the massage (which foot & hand where both long and so soothing!) I hate when the lotion smells cheap and so stinky that you would rather pass on it - this is part of the best thing about the pedi to me. A gel mani, removal & a basic pedi was only $50 (pretty average I've found for pricing). To boot, I was even able to get a last-minute lip wax before I for just $7 too! These people are great, definitely give them a try. read more

I used to frequent this nail salon with my mom and sister. in the beginning the service was great. However, in the last three months we have made appointments and when we go to the salon they don't have our appointments scheduled or the person we made an appointment with is off. The management has really gotten unprofessional. My biggest beef is that they communicate in Vietnamese and sometimes you get the feeling that they are making fun of customers. On one occasion my mom went for her second appointment with Steve for a fill and after four weeks he wanted to put a new set. My mom advised him that he had already put a new set four weeks ago, but he kept arguing with her that she was wrong. We will go back to Ocean View Nails. read more

Pissed! My mom and I scheduled manicures and pedicures for today and had our appointment. I even called an hour beforehand to confirm because I knew they would be busy. We show up and the guy at the front desk says we would have to wait about an hour because they just got a big bridal party in. He said he didn't have our number to call to let us know. Are you kidding me?? We made an appointment but they took the bigger sale customers and ditched our appointment. Very rude!!! Have some integrity.
