I recently moved to Sierra Madre. Decided to check out Lux Nails and they did not disappoint. The salon is the cutest and is very clean. They set the ambiance and music just like a relaxing massage spa would. I took my mom with me and we both did a Deluxe Pedicure package. Mines was $75 because I did gel and my mom's was $60 for regular polish. Mom also got a basic gel manicure for $40. Both Lisa and Anna were there to assist us for our appointments. They provided us with water as we sat down into the massage chairs. They are super sweet, very friendly, and know exactly what they are doing. They took their time and made us feel very comfortable. I was excited as soon as I saw them throw fresh orange slices into my foot tub. They were extremely gentle when handling tools and got the job done so nicely. My cuticles have never been so clean and perfect. I absolutely love this place. Definitely recommend. read more

I had the basic pedicure, and some extra attention was give to my rough calluses, sugar scrub and lotion massage. Polish job was perfect. One thing you don't see done and is important to durability of nail polish is Tina let the color polish dry for a few minutes before putting on the top coat. The atmosphere was peaceful, flute music and an Asian cooking travelogue on the TV. Highly recommend Lux Nails and Tina. read more

This is my 3rd time at Lux nails and Kim and Lisa were the best nail techs I've had! A previous time a guy did my nails and made my cuticles bleed and I never thought I'd return but I'm glad I gave this place another chance with different technicians! Kim did my wedding nails and they turned out even better than I expected. She convinced me to get gel x for the first time and it was well worth it. The spa pedicure was also amazing and Lisa took her time and even pointed out the original color I chose was too sheer when she started painting and realized it wouldn't cover up my bruise I had under my toe from a previous injury. I really wanted to like this nail salon! The area is adorable, but the shop doesn't' fit the vibe. I mistakenly asked for Truong and I think I meant Trudy. As I walked in, I was only greeted by an older woman who was friendly but the manicurist looked me up and down & didn't greet me. The manicurist was a gentleman and I believe his name was Truong (I advise you to not get your nails done with him) wasn't using gloves, was using an Altoids container to hold his instruments, and was so annoyed the whole time. I smiled at him and tried to be friendly but he was unfortunately giving "mean girl" energy. I repeatedly said ouch during the appt and he kept repeating the same mistake. He seemed miserable while doing my nails which made me feel so uncomfortable and like a bother. Mind you - I scheduled this appt ahead of time it wasn't like I walked in and requested it last minute. The quality of the work done was mid. I can see streaks in my nails so it wasn't an even polish, and the shape was a bit too sharp. Also just an FYI - the manicurist Katie who clearly slayed nails doesn't work there anymore. I found this out upon my visit, so I imagine this loss could be impacting the quality of the shop. I won't be coming back. Upon leaving I felt awkwardly pressured to schedule another appt so I did. But obviously I cancelled it and won't be coming back unless they hire kinder staff with more professional skills. I will say Trudy - the manager was quite nice and friendly. Made 1pm appointment today for a mani/pedi and my daughter gel pedi. Arrived 5 minutes late as parking is difficult. Katie is super sweet. She put on the foils to dissolve the gels on my mani. Sat like this for about 45 minutes and finally someone started my pedicure. My daughters pedicure started after about an hour with her sitting in the chair with her feet soaking. I waited until about 1.5+ hours (90 minutes with these foils on my fingers while Katie did two ladies - also new - their dipped nails. They came in AFTER ME). I let Katie know - I can't wait any longer - I had a 1pm appointment and it's now 2:35pm. This is unacceptable! Oh - and her coworker does not know how to do nails! She had to help her to paint my toe nails to make them acceptable appearing! She didn't know how to do a callus and she didn't know how to help me with my slippers at the end! I am a very mellow person but this business does not value new clients nor their time nor an appointment!!! read more

She spent a considerable amount of time cleaning up my cuticles which were dry beyond belief due to constant use of alcohol based hand sanitizer at work. I just wanted pink COFFIN. instead I got this huge MESS. THE ENTIRE PROCESS TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF OF MY TIME FOR THIS DISASTER . 90 MINUTES!!!! she kept rounding my nails because she kept messing up. And when I told her. She gave me excuses on how it's supposed to look. And then there was an extra charge for "cutting it shorter" after she messed up on my nails. To make it worst. Hubby and I decided to get out nails done. Came around 530pm on Saturday. We were tired of going to Aria and their services. They always try to upsell even though we've been going there for months. We new there were a couple of other salons in town and wanted to support. We drove by and past this little quaint shop and decided to try. On the outside you couldn't really tell it was a nail salon, barely can tell by the name on the window "Lux Nails." When we entered, we were nicely greeted by Katie. She was the only one working. We found out they were only officially opened for 2 days. It was a brand new salon with new ownership. We were lucky and no one was there. No wait. We told her what we wanted and she started filling the tub right away. The water was nice and warm. She offered us bottle water. Katie was very personable and we had a very nice chat. Unfortunately she is the only worker for now as this is a brand new salon. She worked on me first and then my partner went after. If you want a pleasurable experience, highly recommend coming to this place. As she is the only worker for now, I highly recommend calling in to make an appointment; however she does take walk ins.
