I'm giving this 5 stars for three different reasons: 1. They have very good COVID protocols, and the hair stylist gently removed my mask only when they had to, to cut around the ears. 2. Even with COVID, they take walkins, as long as it's not crowded. It wasn't when I went there today. 3. I'm a transgender male, but with longer hair, I look more femme - and get misgendered all the time because of it. When I went in with my shoulder length lair, I explained that I'm a man, and I would like a men's hair cut please. They had absolutely no issues with that at all - they showed me pics of men's hair cuts to choose from, gave me a great short clipper cut, and I was charged the men's hair cut price. I'm so grateful for this; it's hard to find hair stylists that will do your hair correctly if you're trans. My total was $20 - $15 for the hair, and $5 for the tip. DO NOT GO INTO THIS SALON** so i got off work after a really bad day, ready to relax while im getting my hair done.. my friend recommended i try Lyn Hair Salon, where he was heading after work. we got there around 5 and it was completely empty. there were two women working there. i told *Tina i needed my roots done & some other parts of my hair the same color. she set the bleach in around 540. around 645, about 6 more people walked in. they started getting restless, so she started ignoring us to tend to the other people that just needed hair cuts (nobody wants to refuse business.) i told her at 645 that i thought it had been a while already. she insisted the longer we left it in, the better it will look, & she moved me to the heater. at 720 I TOLD HER i wanted it out of my hair!! she rinsed it out & my hair started falling out in clumps!!! my bad day turned into one of the worst i have ever had. Super quick and cheap haircut. Got a straight cut, cut off about 5 inches, pretty happy with what I got. It was $25. They have a sliding scale for women's cuts $18-$25, so if you cut less, it's probably cheaper. Lyn was also really nice and even made me stand up once since hair can look different sitting down and standing. Would recommend! read more

I think I had one of Lyn's staff and she did ok. The haircut wasn't exactly what I asked for (the fade wasn't 100% and she didn't condition after shampoo [dual shampoo?]). Hand work was alright. I noticed hair not brushed off on my shoulders after I left. All said and done, I still left fairly satisfied. I'm a tomboy. Sometimes, I wish I wasn't. It'd be nice to be able to put together a nice outfit, use make-up, or do a stylish hairstyle when I need to, but I just don't think it's genetically within me to perform such feats. And when it comes to things that just affect me, I'm pretty impulsive. For example, I noticed that my waist-length hair was reminiscent of high school, except about half of it looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket. So I did what any impulsive tomboy would do: I went grocery shopping at Viet Wah and cut my hair next door. I never worry about getting a bad haircut, since hair grows back. And for $17, it would be a cheap solution to my horsetail. I liked that they accepted walk-ins, and that they were open after 6pm. The woman was friendly, and I told her how much I wanted cut off, requesting a few layers in my extremely thin hair. What I got at the end wasn't exactly what I was imagining: the longest point was 7 inches shorter, like I requested, but most of it was 10 - 11 inches shorter. That's fine, but the layering was a little extreme. Especially considering that my ponytail is so thin, I could set it with a single braces rubber band. I tipped heavily regardless, and immediately put my hair up in a bun. It's a few weeks later, and now I can honestly say I like it much better. But I think most people probably feel that way. Considering I cut my hair once every year, I don't have a lot of experience with that. I'd come back; maybe not for a special occasion, but a maintenance cut would be good...maybe in 12 months or so. read more

Naturally, I'd prefer a head entirely devoid of ducklike properties, but the haircutter did what she could with the aftermath of a unseasonably hot day in April. Quickly, cheaply, competently. I always get my haircut from Lyn and she does a great job and remembers exactly how I want it done every time. I shall preface this review by admitting the Vietnam bias. I am Vietnamese-American and this business is Vietnamese owned, so obviously that will change the experience of going to this salon. Located on the East side of the Viet Wah parking lot, Lyn's is in the heart of the action on the upper side of Jackson. My friend conveniently dropped me off right in front of Lyn's unknowingly showing it's ease of access. Parking is always a shit-show in that lot but there is always parking available in the Hong Kong condo complex just down the street. I walked in, and it is your typical hair salon. There was a lot of reading material laid out for you to gander and find a potential hairstyle. A TV was playing Anthony Bourdain in the background so that is always a plus. The lady who cut my hair was actually the sister of the lady. I gave her some very basic instructions on how I liked my hair cut and followed them exactly. The prices are reasonable and they got me in and out in a very timely manner. No frills, no gimmicks. What more could one ask for in a haircut? read more

Cheap Asian haircuts. That's all I need. A haircut for my nappy Asian hair that won't cost me a fortune since I trim it so much. They're fast and efficient, but make sure you tell them exactly what you want or else they'll mess it up and you won't be happy. But totally worth it if you get it right. $12 for men's haircut and $14 for women's haircut. $3 extra for a shampoo for men and $5 for women. Worth it in my books! read more

Not the fanciest in appearance but staffs were extremely friendly and services were reasonably priced. I had medium length (and LOTS of) hair; coloring + cut was 40 + 14 w/o tip. I didn't have to make an appointment and they work fairly efficiently to minimize customer wait time and tried their best to satisfy customer needs. The customer before me was extremely pleased with her new hair cut. I thought mine was pretty good (both color and cut) but not to the point where I wanted to hug and kiss my hair-dresser.
