Went in to see a used Golf R and left after 5 minutes, was told through text that it be ready to drive when i get there, show up im told its on the lift being worked on and asked if i come back another time, must not want to sell cars here

Copy of complaint to BBB: Interaction was on February 8, 2013. No money was paid. Business advertises a certified pre owned (CPO) vehicle with VIN 4S4BTAPC8M3107464 for $30822. After spending a couple hours checking things out, when we sat to discuss price, they wanted to add $2690 in fees that they claimed were required by Subaru and the dealership for certification ($1295) and reconditioning ($1395). Their explanation of the fees didn't make any sense, as they noted some of the same things under the certification fee as they did under the reconditioning fee. I noted the vehicle was advertised as CPO at the price of $30822, not as a non-CPO vehicle at $30822 with the option to certify by paying extra. The salesperson said that price was meant to get people in the door. I believe this is considered false advertising even if there might be small print somewhere noting that there may be additional fees. These additions were equal to a nearly 9% up charge to the advertised price before accounting for the standard additional costs of document fees, sales tax, and registration fees. Also, the salesperson let slip that the car hadn't actually been certified yet, as it's still being used as a loaner vehicle and needs to be run through the certification process once the customer currently using it returns it. It was also a bit concerning to hear the car was advertised as passing the inspection when the inspection hadn't yet been done. After leaving Lynnes Subaru, I communicated with another Subaru dealership nearby to check if this was a standard fee charged by Subaru, and the salesperson at the other dealership explained there are no fees to certify a vehicle. However, it seems this is common practice at Lynnes Subaru, to advertise a low price and then add fake fees once a person goes into the dealership. I'm hoping someone can investigate them for false advertising and hopefully stop the practice and maybe even impose some penalties. Notes: After thinking about things, even if the dealership offered me the car at the advertised price, I would not buy from them. This practice really shows how they deal with customers. They're a place I wouldn't trust with an important purchase like this. You can see how the car is advertised in the attached screenshots. However, the out-the-door price they tried to charge was the following: $30822 for the vehicle, $799 for the doc fee, $2273.64 for taxes, $300 for registration, $8.15 for CVR (to print temporary plates), $1295 for policy certification (supposedly required by Subaru to certify), & $1395 for reconditioning (supposedly required by dealerships to certify). This equaled an out-the-door price of $36,892.79 for a vehicle advertised at $30822. Without negotiating on the advertised price, the out-the-door price, which should include only the sale price + doc fees + taxes + registration, should've been around $33,900, give or take a few bucks. That's a final price difference of around $3000. I strongly suggest you check Yelp reviews & BBB ratings for other dealerships in the area and drive a little further if needed to deal with a trustworthy place.

He then decided after we were dissatisfied to usher us out of the facility. Anyone who follows my reviews knows I am always super fair and forgiving. His actions not only were unforgivable, but one of the salesman got in my son's face and started to put his finger on my son's face as we were leaving. I have now made it my mission to ensure that no other others have the same experience that I have, especially given the number of dealerships that one can find a vehicle at. After the first vehicle purchase, I attempted to talk to the manager, and then the general manager, both of whom assured me if I brought the vehicle back, they would take care of me on a trade in. This was a reprehensible and appalling experience.

Even after moving away, we would often make the trip back just to have them inspect our car because we knew they would give us honest advice. A while back, a chain oil change shop told us we needed new brake pads. We came here for a second opinion, and they explained that the rust we were seeing was normal and would wear off with regular local driving. They were right. A year later, another shop again tried to sell us brake pads during an oil change. We immediately brought the car here, and after a thorough inspection, they told us the brakes still had about 2,000 miles left. That level of honesty is rare. Instead of recommending unnecessary repairs, they only suggest work that actually needs to be done. Their prices are fair, their workmanship is excellent, and most importantly, they genuinely care about their customers. If you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic, you can bring your car here with confidence. In an industry where it's hard to know who to trust, this shop has consistently proven that honesty still exists:)

Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

After purchasing my vehicle, I returned to discuss concerns I had about my financing and the paperwork because I believed certain fees and charges had not been clearly explained before I signed. Rather than working with me to understand my concerns or explore possible solutions, the conversation with the Sales Manager escalated. During our discussion, he abruptly stood up and told me, **"Get your ass out of my office."** I was then asked to leave before we could have a productive conversation. Fortunately, after waiting, I was able to speak with the Finance Manager, who treated me respectfully. He took the time to review the paperwork with me, explain the financing in detail, and show me what could have been removed. I genuinely appreciated his professionalism and willingness to answer my questions. In my opinion, the sales process can be confusing, especially during the final paperwork. My advice to anyone considering purchasing a vehicle here is to slow down, carefully review every document, ask about every fee and charge, and make sure you fully understand the terms before signing anything. I'm sharing only my personal experience so other potential customers can make an informed decision. Buying a vehicle is one of the biggest financial commitments most people will ever make, and I believe every customer deserves transparency, professionalism, clear explanations, and respect throughout the entire process. Unfortunately, despite the Finance Manager's efforts to help afterward, the overall experience left a lasting negative impression, and I cannot recommend this dealership based on my experience.

It took multiple calls (nearly 5 attempts) and about 30 minutes on hold just to get in touch with the General Sales Manager. This has been a consistent issue -- no one at the dealership answers the phone or returns calls, which makes resolving anything extremely difficult. When we were finally able to speak with Hussain, the information provided was inconsistent and misleading. We were told that a payoff check had already been sent to Mazda. However, after contacting Mazda Financial Services directly, we were informed that no payoff had been received and no payoff had even been requested until today. We were then given conflicting explanations (including that a check was sent to the "wrong location"), which does not align with what Mazda confirmed. Additionally, there was an attempt to shift responsibility onto the broker involved in the transaction. To be clear, the dealership is ultimately responsible for processing the payoff and completing the transaction correctly. That is the purpose of dealer fees, and this situation is entirely within the dealer's control. At this point, the issue appears to be a combination of poor communication, lack of follow-through, and inaccurate information being shared with customers. Meanwhile, the delay has resulted in a past due account and additional fees -- all of which should have been avoided if this had been handled properly from the start. Extremely disappointing experience overall. Proceed with caution.

This was one of the most frustrating and disappointing car-buying experiences I have ever had…read more I went to the dealership to look at a 2022 Honda CR-V EX-L with approximately 42,000 miles. Before making the trip, I found the exact same vehicle advertised at three different prices on different websites: $28,500, $26,400, and $24,900. I contacted the dealership beforehand and specifically asked about the pricing. I was told they would work with my numbers, so I made the trip expecting a straightforward and honest discussion. Instead, after I arrived, inspected the vehicle, and asked the salesperson for the out-the-door price, I was given a figure of approximately $30,500. $24,900 advertised. $30,500 OTD. That's approximately a $5,600 difference from the lowest advertised price. I understand that taxes, registration, and legitimate fees are part of buying a vehicle. But when the same vehicle is advertised at three different prices--and the lowest advertised price is $24,900--I expect the dealership to clearly explain the difference and provide an honest, itemized OTD price. What makes this even more frustrating is that I contacted them before coming in and was told they would work with my numbers. I made the trip in good faith and with the intention of buying the vehicle if we could agree on a reasonable price. Instead, I felt like my time had been completely wasted. If the actual numbers were going to be anywhere near $30,500 OTD, that should have been made clear before asking me to come to the dealership. This is exactly why people are skeptical of car dealerships. Advertise one price, get the customer in the door, and then present a dramatically higher number. Whether or not there is an explanation for every fee, the customer should not have to drive to the dealership to find out what the real price is. My advice: DO NOT make the trip based on the advertised price alone. Get the complete, itemized OTD price in writing BEFORE you go. Ask about every fee, add-on, and mandatory charge. I came prepared to buy a vehicle. I left extremely disappointed and with absolutely no confidence in the way this dealership handles pricing. If I could give them minus 10 stars, I would. I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience.
