I have only one complaint about Lynn's--the rude and terrible waiter who always seems to be there serving us. His name is Matthew. I have been here on numerous occasions and I have loved each visit, for the most part! The food is always nice and fresh, the espresso beverages and sweet treats are good, and even most of the waitstaff has been excellent! We even got a chance to interact with the owner and she was a delight. But our waiter Matthew has made me feel so unwelcome there so many times, I don't even want to bother visiting anymore. On one occasion I was dining with my family, a party of eight. I am a short adult woman, but nonetheless, I am an adult. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and he suggested I order off the kid's menu in an incredulous way. I said no thank you, and that I was fine to eat an adult portion. Ten minutes later, he comes to the table and pulls one of my older female family members aside and says, "You know she just ordered a $20 plate of pasta, right?" We all looked at him dumbfounded. I felt humiliated, and I informed him that I would be paying for my meal myself. He didn't even apologize, he just left. I felt so humiliated and degraded by how he treated me during my visit then. Still, I have come back. The rest of the times he's served me, he's looked at me and the other guests I've brought like we are vermin. Choppy with his words, and never around to serve us--even when it's 1:00 on a rainy Thursday and the restaurant is empty. Dreadful service from him, which is so disappointing considering I've loved every other aspect about this place. The few times we've been waited on by other servers have been very pleasant, but I will not be going back anymore just to be treated in the ways I have. read more

Ellen's is located in Old Town Spring. We stopped in here after a day at wet n wild water park and were looking for some ice cream! The lady behind the counter was very nice. She scooped us up some cold delicious goodness for a hot afternoon and it hit the spot! I opted for a classic chocolate malt and was not disappointed. She even offered a small fudge sample to my husband. Good little spot to pop into. read more

This place is adorable! The staff at the front counter are so sweet. My mom and I went in on our annual trip to Old Town Spring and walked in to get coffee to go. We loved chatting with the staff and so we sat down and hung out for about half an hour. Not only did we have good coffee and the most amazing slice of quiche, but we started off our day on the right foot talking with some really kind people. You keep working towards your goals ladies and gentlemen, you're going to get there. ;) Also, we stopped by on the way out of town and picked up a massive slice of homemade pie to take to my dad for dessert. Delicious!!!! First time dining at Ellen's Café and I assure you it will NOT be my/our last. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight. My wife had beef tenderloin sliders - fantastic! I had the Frikadeller with spatzle and braised red cabbage. The red cabbage was so good it could be dessert. Dessert was a tough choice... so many homemade pies, cakes, fudge, ice cream and more to choose from... we finally decided on their bread pudding! This place is a must! Y'all. You've got to try this place. I've been here twice now and feel it necessary to leave my review. The first time I just popped in for desert, peach cobbler, and it was very yummy. Not a "knock your socks off" but I left perfectly satisfied. My friend got the tuna melt with mushroom soup and she was a very happy camper. Today I came back with a friend and I got a BLT on a croissant (not even on the menu but they gladly made it for me!). It was honestly the best BLT I've ever had, and that's kind of hard to say since they usually all taste very similar. My friend got a cheeseburger and she was beyond pleased with her choice as well. DELICIOUS FOOD! Very fresh! However, the decor is lacking. Paneling coming off the wall, tables have cheap plastic tablecloths and a general neglected look. Don't sit by the kitchen, it's very noisy and loud. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was sweet and very accommodating. When one at our table thought her meal was over cooked, she immediately replaced it with a smile. She did leave to help scoop ice cream and never came back to bring us our check or pack up our left over dessert. We had to find to go boxes ourselves and then wait for them to finish up with the ice cream to get and pay our check. Overall, worth a trip for the food. read more

If you haven't tried Ellen's yet you definitely should! I've been twice since Christmas because the breakfast is that good! Their Rye bread is real rye bread, the pancakes are super fluffy and dense so I'm not eating air pockets, and the eggs are plentiful and delicious. Service was very efficient and my waitress kept the coffee coming. The chef said hello on his way into the kitchen and everyone was in neat and clean clothing. The restaurant itself was very clean, no swirly mop strokes on the floor or dust and dirt laying around. Windows were clean, tableware was clean and as I watched the waitresses they used good health code practices (Seriously, this matters). Tables were bussed and cleared quickly. Overall this is a great place to eat and linger over a morning conversation. The food is very well prepared and tastes great, I definitely get my money's worth. read more

Horrible customer service. Walked into an almost empty restaurant and waited to be seated. And waited and waited. Finally someone told me to take whatever seat I wanted. I found one and sat down. The waitress brought me water but no menu. And I waited and waited and waited. After ten minutes, I gave up and left. And so did the two parties who were waiting at the door. What a wonderful little cafe. Went to Old Town Springs to find a couple of gifts to take back home, (Tucson, AZ). We were looking for a place to grab lunch and found this cafe. The place is not fancy but very clean. All of the staff was very friendly and willing to help. My husband and I shared a reuben sandwich and both got the tomato basil soup. The sandwich had a huge amount of meat, the sauerkraut was perfect and just the right amount of dressing. The soup was delicious and perfect for dipping the sandwich in. Our son and daughter in law shared a burger. They ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly and very juicy. Our son ordered the gumbo. It was spicy but not too spicy and our daughter in law also order the tomato basil soup which she also loved. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. We will be back the next time we are in town. read more

My first visit and i was impressed. Friendly service from the minute we walked through the door. The food portions were more than generous and the quiche (Spinach, artichoke, chicken), oh my goodness, it was good!! For dessert we ordered the more than generous 4 layer chocolate cake. It was rich, moist and a chocolate lovers dream. I wouldnt try to go at it alone however, portions are large enough for two, but could even feed 4 with a small slice, by giving a layer per person. Let me say, I eat out quite a bit. I travel a lot. The food was OUTSTANDING. EVERYTHING. There were ten in our party. We had everything from steaks, beef stroganoff, spaghetti and meatballs, etouffe, and chicken sandwich. Everyone loved the food. The deserts are equally as great! We had a little of everything. In town from Dallas, with the family for a lacrosse tournament. We looked at the menu and it looked good. The reviews were also good. So, we said let's go . Upon arrival, this does not look like a real fancy steakhouse. Looks like more like a tea room than a steakhouse. Still comfortable and nice inside. Owners even came and socialized with us. Both are former culinary students. They know what they're doing. Needless to say, next time we're in town, we will be back at Ellen's!!! read more

Chef Matthew has done a wonderful job with Ellen's! We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner. The chicken, spinach and artichoke quiche is AMAZING and loaded with chicken and veggies! I had never tried Frikadeller before, and it was so wonderful! I dug in and forgot to take a picture. My husband liked his steak salad. My father-in-law had the chili cheese dogs that had homemade chili, and loved them! I love that Chef Matthew came out to check on us, and we got to ask him the stories behind the Frikadeller dish and his unique pickled grape tomatoes. During a visit to Old Town Spring we planned to try a restaurant that we'd heard was good but it was closed the day we were there. Good for us! We decided to try Ellen's and what a good choice it was. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in and we're seated quickly. The kids' menu is not printed but the servers tell the choices when asked. We had a kid's mac and cheese, a California turkey sandwich and their signature chicken, spinach and artichoke quiche. The mac and cheese was not the out of a box kind! It was creamy and the grandson loved it. The sandwich had turkey, cheese, guacamole and lettuce/tomato and came with a large serving of beautiful fresh fruit. Pronounced to be delicious! My quiche was delicious and I chose a salad as my side. It was fresh and served with a yummy fill dressing. We ended our lunch with a visit to the candy and ice cream counter. We had just enough room to try a few pieces of fudge. YUM! If you are in Old Town Spring, this is a great choice. read more

Went for a day trip to old Town Spring and found this quaint cottage style restaurant. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for our daughter, my wife had the Chicken-Spinach-Artichoke Quiche with tomato basil soup. I had the HeartBrand Akaushi Beef Hamburger with the chicken dumpling soup. The grilled cheese sandwich was good, can't really go wrong with that. The Quiche was tasty and fresh and the Beef Burger was delicious and well done to perfection. The soups are tasty and are a meal in itself so we couldn't finish off our lunch and had to take the left overs to go. The deserts are supposed to be good, too bad we just didn't have any place left in our stomachs!. We paid 31.36$ for a satisfying lunch!. read more

I have had lunch at Lynn's Table three times this year. The first two times were very nice and I enjoyed the food. I have only ordered the blue cheese burger and it was much to my liking; today was not so good. I requested the burger to be cooked very rare; I received a well done overcooked burger. I did not send it back because I was with friends and did not want to disrupt their lunch. When the server came by and asked as to our lunch I told him my burger was way over cooked. He said he noticed that when he picked it up and told the chef. He said the chef replied he was mistaken and the burger was cooked properly. It was cooked properly.....just properly too much. They should not have served this and cooked a second one for me. It was a lazy move by the kitchen not to have prepared areplacement. This is not Burger King...where you can have it your way. For $18.00 I expect to be served a burger cooked to my specifications. Also....they do not serve French fries. I believe a proper burger should be accompanied by French fries. I think I will take a break from Lynn's Table for awhile. read more

I'm eating a club sandwich on the patio right now. It's the best club sandwich I've ever had at a restaurant. It's so thick I can barely get it in my mouth. The meat and bacon is perfect. My husband & I hadn't been to Old Town Spring in many years & went this past weekend. We absolutely LOVED Ellen's! We had the Akaushi Burger & it was delicious! When you narrow it down, it's a basic burger: bun, meat, lettuce tomato & mayo. But this one is heaven because of the type of bun & the meat! The meat was juicy & tasted wonderful. The bun was soft & buttery. What was good too is the amount of mayo they put on it. Some places put way too much & that's all you taste. Not here. They put just a small amount so you can taste everything. Our waiter was very nice & attentive. I don't remember his name unfortunately. The whole staff was friendly & welcoming. Nice little place. I had the Santa Fe burger that had Hatch chili's and a fried egg as well as cheese and avocado. It was very good. My wife had a Reuben, also good. I don't normally write reviews but when you have a terrible experience on your day off... well the public should know so no one else wastes their time here. We visited Lynn's on a Sunday Afternoon with high hopes. Upon entering we waited as staff passed us by but did not seat us for about twenty minutes. We are a family of 5 with toddlers for reference. We are then seated at a four person table with a seat added at the end forcing us into the aisle. I had two choices, my kids sit there or my big burly dad and neither was good. When asked if we could sit at a larger table? Well no because we were only 5. Mind you , four gorgeous ladies were seated at a nine person table just fine after us. So we order, astronomical prices for a sandwich and pasta salad. I get a big price tag when cooking is involved but for a sandwich? I will pay for good food but a lunch sandwich is basic, how can one charge so much? Nearly $20 for a chili dog for my dad.... For a hot dog and chili? If you are going to charge four times the cost of something, please provide your customers with 4x the experience. Please do not cramp them into a table when there are better options. Please do not place a sign for customers to 'wait to be seated', then not delegate anyone to do the seating. And if your going to charge so much, give your customers excellent quality food and service. I only saw one staff smiling and happy to be there. The rest seemed stressed, manic even which was not well suited for a half full house. My advice: pay the price at Wunsche Bros for a quality burger and fries you could also check out Puffabellys and enjoy a train view read more

We were too late for breakfast :o( but lunch was Great! Hubby and I ordered bacon-spinach quiche and a burger. The quiche was excellent, tasted homemade: The mixture had a creamy/cheesy taste and the slice included plenty of filling. The burger and brioche bun were excellent. We ordered blackberry cobbler (with ice cream) to go. After returning home, we tried it: OMG! first, the cobbler was nice and thick (not runny), blackberries were awesome, as was the crust--all had just the right amount of sweetness. Now, for the ice cream - a 2nd OMG--homemade vanilla! What more could you ask for in a dessert?? We can't wait to return for breakfast, lunch and dinner! P.S. Since COVID restaurants have been stacking extra chairs against the walls . This looks very tacky, and takes away from the ambiance of the dining experience..
