Just got home from South coast plaza, the lovely lady was helping other customers, but she acknowledged us and led us to the back for a return. I had ordered lipstick online, and for some reason, couldn't get a return label. Which forced me to look for a MAC store. Southcoast plaza popped up and so there I went. The lady in front, made sure, that I didn't wait too long. She ran to the back to find someone to help me. A nice guy came out and at first, I got the impression, that I was probably not going to be able to return the online purchase without an order number. I wanted to share my great experience I had with Kylie at this location. I walked in late to my lash and line appointment on 05/19 - but she still helped me. She was alone - but she did my eye makeup and managed all the customers in the store smoothly. My makeup looked amazing. She was so patient and talented. Who doesnt love makeup? And goooooood makeup. Somethings you can buy at a drug strore but some things are best bought good. My favorites are the primer, studio fix, eye shadows, the glosses and the setting spray. This is a pro shop so they sell a lot of travel sized items to try out before buying the costly sizes. They also have a lot of create your own pallettes, lip sets, ect right now for the holidays. Service is hit or miss here. There are always people willing to help you, but they get busy and cant always hold your hand through the whole make up experience and give you individual service for long periods of time. If your somewhat makeup savy they will set you up in front of the mirror and let you play on your own. However, a few artists here are super friendly and really pitch suggestions your way. Located at South Coast plaza down stairs. I park by Sacks 5th Ave and walk through the mall and its on the left just past the bakery. I was the only one in there, then other people came in that needed help, but she was the only one available to assist everyone. Even though she was the only one, she did a great job helping them and myself. She has mastered "multi-tasking". She even recommended the new tech foundation that just came out, which I love. Its super lightweight and has a natural finish which is what I was used to since I use to use Matchmaster and was told it got discontinued. I ended up walking out of that store with a $200 purchase. I hate to admit this, but honestly feel discriminated against at MAC everytime I go in. Just because I am not layered in makeup, I have a tough time flagging someone down to help me out. I am technically the ideal customer because I have a blank canvas and they can brainwash me into buying everything! It's too bad, because I only use MAC concealer and I have been meaning to buy more of their makeup. But the way the stores make me feel, I get in, buy my concealer, and get out in 5 minutes. Even if I catch someone to help me, I feel that I get talked to in a condescending way. Sadly, I have the same review for MAC at Fashion Valley, San Diego. I was visting from Canada and went in to try the new foundation. Oliva was very patient and tried on several shades and found me the perfect match. Also found me some brushes i needed and lipstick, gloss and lip primer! I was very impressed with her professionally, she really knew her stuff, and the great selections she made for me. It's a small (as in SQ FT small) Pro store and they are always super, super busy. This occurred at 1:15 pm at the South Coast Plaza MAC Store One star due to lack of professionalism, poor Customer Service - actually NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL - not even a greeting, and racial profiling. When I first walked in, two workers close to the front entrance gave me the "up & down" stare then continued with their conversation. Worst part was the store was empty! I smiled and proceeded to the blush colors. I was then approached by a Sales Rep who proceeded to ask if I needed to help - with a tone and a look as if I was about to rob the place - & before I could finish my sentence she cut me off and said "OH THE STORE MANAGER HANDLES THAT!" and walked away! So I walked up to the front counter receipt and product in hand wanting to exchange & to get someone's opinion on a blush. She explained that it had been more than 30 days and that there was "nothing she could do for me." I understood, so I took the item back & when I went to repeat "can someone help me find a blush" she said "absolutley nothing I can do for you" She did not even bother offering to have someone look at the blush for me!?! So on my way out I turned back and said "oh and thank you for helping me find a blush color" she looked at me like she had absolutley no idea what I was talking about!?! I love this brand, but sometimes the "artist" are beezies I have been coming to this store for years for my MAC needs. There have been times when NO ONE has helped me ( and I have walked out of the store) and then there have been times when EVERYONE and their mom wants to help me. I think it all depends on the time of day and the number of "artist" that are available to help. I recently went to the launch party for the new ShopMAC collection, and the ladies & gentlemen in the store were super helpful. They tested products out on me and even offered to even further advice on how to wear each of the products. read more

Julia is the best. I've had my make-up done by her a few times and I'm signed up to take a class from her this weekend. She listens to what I'm wearing and where I'm going and then I give her free reign. She's the professional, so I trust her judgement with making me look good. I tried to explain to the manager my incident but she did not care one bit instead she opted with a sarcastic response and the corporate 1800 # to solve my incident. Never in my life have I been to a high end makeup store with a staff of at least 10 with about 4 customers in the store straight up ignore me as I'm standing there for 15 minutes. MAC is great, their makeup but the customer service at this store was ridiculous. Pathetic. No one greeted me andALL employees treated me as it I were invisible. I walked out after I wasn't helped for at least 15 minutes. They all were chatting with one another, mean faces, and acted as if they were all too busy to help. I came here to get me some fix+ and I was greeted at the door by a worker and told there was a deal on sets. I didn't encounter bad costumer service, but I felt like they kind of just greet you and then forget about you. The reason they're getting a 1 star is because this store is RIDICULOUSLY dirty! There is a lot of dust everywhere and it feels musty in there. I didn't want to touch anything because everything has dust on top of it. It was gross and my allergies started acting up. Today around 1:30 pm I had walked in with my friend and we had been looking around the store trying to purchase a few items. I had put my brand new Chanel purse on the counter for a few seconds just to put my coat on, when Shelly, a worker at MAC had hit my purse so hard it fell on the ground leaving marks on the locket. I was in shock, almost shaking. She had tried to give me my purse when she said "maybe you shouldn't leave your purse on the counter." I had never felt so disrespected. Especially by an elder woman. If I could give a Zero rating I would. I can only warn people away from this counter. My daughters Sr Prom was last Saturday. We contacted Mac and made arrangements to buy $50 in products and they would do her make-up. She arrived on time and was told they were running behind and would be with her in 45 mins. She returned in 35 minutes checked in and then waited at the counter for 45 mins more. Finally worrying about the time frame she went checked back. She was informed they were too busy to do her makeup. The employee she spoke with very rudely said she missed her appointment. When my daughter explained she had been there all along she said they hadn't communicated among themselves and she was out of luck. The kind lady behind my daughter in line stepped up, seeing my daughters distress and asked for a manager. The manager explained they had made an error and they couldn't fix it. There are several highlights of childhood. Prom is a big one. I understand that mistakes happen, no attempt was made to fix it. More importantly she was treated rudely and without compassion. My daughter left the counter in tears an hour and a half after she arrived with no makeup. Mac you've lost not only me and my 3 teenage daughters. You've lost my 3 sisters, my mom, stepmom, mother in law, and hopefully anyone else who reads this. A little kindness goes along way. Thank goodness for a friend who sells MaryKay and made my daughter feel beutiful. read more

I love this MAC! The girls are always quick to say hello and ask if I need anything, and are so patient with cleaning off sample colors for me to try out! They also work really hard at helping customers to find just the right shade of eyeshadow or lipstick. They really aim to please and are so sweet! I love this location so much that I will drive out of my way (the MAC location at the Cerritos mall is actually closer to me, but those employers are KNOWN to be the absolute WORST in customer service) to come here. I really like this MAC store. I only go here when I return my Back To MAC containers. The employees here are friendly and helpful even though I don't technically buy anything. Other than that I usually go to Westminster Mall Macy's to buy MAC because it is closer. Only at the Pro Stores, like this one, will let you pick out a lipstick, or lip gloss, or eyeshadow of your choice for free when you return six empty MAC Cosmetics containers. If you go to a MAC counter at any department store, they only let you pick a lipstick. More variety is what I like and this Pro Store is great for that. read more

I had purchased a lipgloss from the Mac Cosmetics counter at Macy's in South Coast Plaza recently and it was causing an irritation or allergic reaction on my upper lip. Leslie at the Mac Counter was really helpful, friendly and courteous to my needs. Even though I didn't have the receipt, I was still able to exchange it for another product I had used before, that didn't cause any irritation for me. It was great, she was so pleasant and nice. I have been a Mac Pro card holder for 2 years and I will not be renewing due to the horrible customer service at this pro store. I asked for my normal color of studio fix powder (NC20). I also bought two new lipsticks. I got home, threw away my bag and receipt assuming the employee understood English. A couple Days later I went to open my new powder, and it was NC25. I took a special trip to the mall to exchange it (since it was at the fault of the store) and I was RUDELY scolded, and told how "even us as employees have to have a receipt" "we employees" "employees..." Not once did she mention customers or show any sign of caring. Not only that, but I was cut off in the middle of my sentences, argued with, and had a finger in my face as she clearly expressed her anger with her employer. Long story short. THIS MAC PRO IS HORRIBLE. read more
