Everyone put me at ease and made me feel welcome rather than awkward, which I often do getting my nails done at it is an occassional treat for me and not a regular activity. I am not always sure what is expected of me. I went to this salon on Friday, Aug 26 for a pedicure before a wedding that day. I was staying at a hotel up the street and didn't have a car, so I already knew it was going to cost around $18-20 in Ubers back and forth just to get there. Everything went well when I was there, nothing out of the ordinary -- but the next day, I noticed that one of my toes on my left foot had already lost polish. After paying $52 with tip and an additional $20 for my Ubers! I wore open-toed shoes for the wedding, so it wasn't even rubbing against anything. By Monday, after getting home to FLORIDA, I noticed that 2 more toes had lost polish. I called the store & spoke with the owner. I asked for an email address to send photos and my info for a refund and she told me she absolutely never gives out refunds but would fix it for me...I said, "but I live in Florida!" I asked if I could send an email with photos and she said she doesn't want to give out the email address to customers. It was such a bizarre conversation. The only outcome was that she said I could come back in the future for a pedicure but I won't be back in Boston until January, and I won't be anywhere near Newton. No, I'm not going completely out of my way (our family is on the north shore) just to maybe get a free redo pedi in 5 months. Absolutely horrible customer service. read more

I received a lovely gel pedicure here for my birthday. I appreciated how the tech tested the nail polish on her own nail first, to show me the color. I ended up choosing another shade that was a bit darker. The pedicure lasted me months, and there was no chipping at all. I kept the nail polish on until the nails grew out. I called ahead to make and appointment, and I was seen right away. I especially appreciated how the price I was quoted on the phone matched the price at checkout. After trying out what felt like every salon in the Waltham area, I found M&T Nails and have never looked back! The salon is clean and bright, always playing an excellent selection of music. I get my nails dipped around every three weeks and they are the longest and healthiest that I have experienced in my life- the dip is thin and strong, never thick or chunky like many other salons. Be, Anna, and Len always do an amazing job and are meticulous with the filing, shaping, and dipping process, not to mention the kindest people I have ever met! I have referred several friends to M&T and they have all raved about their experiences. The staff members gossip and complain about the customers in Vietnamese because they do not know some people can understand. Very rude to complain about customers in front of their faces. I came here because I had some time to kill in Newton and didn't have time to make it to my normal salon. Huge risk as I was having a full acrylic set put on but I had to trust my fellow yelpers! Y'all are right! My acrylics look amazing!! For the size of this salon they have a good color selection and they offer a wide variety of services. The owner is SUPER nice and the gentleman who did my acrylics was meticulous! I think the part that was best was how incredibly sanitary this salon is. They use a medical grade sterilizer (an ultraclave) and all of their pedicure files are disposable. The sweetest women work here and the quality of their work is above par to boot! I came here once a few weeks ago and loved the quality of their work for something as simple as a polish change. Today, I have a wedding to attend so I called last minute and B initially offered to schedule me in by 12.. Being the last minute procrastinator that I am, I had to tell her that I would call back because I wasn't quite sure about my plans. Within minutes of hanging up, I received a call back from her explaining she wanted to help and would try to find a way to accommodate. When I finally made it, she told me that in order to prevent me from clashing with other appointments, she would have two people working on me at the same time for a gel manicure and pedicure. Although it didn't go exactly as she planned, I had Yan's undivided attention and she still provided quality work even though I was such a huge pain in the butt with my last minute call. I went to this nail salon for years. I went to B, then when Sonny started there I started going to him. He is very talented with nail art and he was faster. I'm a hairstylist down the street. I sent a few of my customers to this nail salon. They were happy for a bit but they all stopped going and had disappointing experiences. They take walk-ins, and then the customer that has an appointment walks in, and THEY have to wait around 20 min. It's not right, I've seen it happen so many times. There's been a lot of unprofessional experiences for me at this nail salon over the years. One day the owner told me they weren't accepting credit anymore. No warnings, no signs. Then I said I was going to have Sonny make a design and spend a lot more but if I have to pay cash I can't do that today. She said ok I'll take your card this time. You need to tell people about changes like that BEFORE they get there!!! I'll skip to the last straw with me. I had a appointment with Sonny. I have his number and text him, I said " I have an appointment at 5:30 will you be ready I have a reservation after I have to be out on time." I never do that, but this time I needed to. He said yes. I got there, he was brushing acrylic on someone's nails. That means he's at least a half hour late, unless they're doing a design then it could be longer. I didn't want to make the customer uncomfortable so I walked over to the owner who was sitting in a pedicure chair, relaxing. I said to her that he told me he'd be ready at 5:30, it's past that now, I didn't want to make the customer uncomfortable so could she tell me how long he'd be. She chuckled at me and said he is right there ask him. I said again I didn't want to make the customer uncomfortable but ok. She yelled across the nail salon at him to ask him what's going on...seriously?!?! I left. It was obnoxious. They're busier then they were years ago, and I've watched the owner turn very greedy and ungrateful. The minute you stop appreciating your customers and stop being grateful, you have a problem. They don't have to come see you. I was spending at least 35-50$ every 2 weeks, and sending in customers. It took a while for me to decide on writing this, but I'd never take my customers for granted. Sonny is extremely talented, but unfortunately I don't have anymore energy for this nail salon and they aren't getting my business anymore. read more

She was so pleasant, fast and meticulous. Seriously, nobody has ever come close to doing as nice a job as she did. The shape was perfect, cuticles were very clean and the polish was applied evenly, no bumps, not too thick aaaannnndddd most importantly super close and precise to the nail bed. One of the cleanest nail salons I've been in! Great atmosphere, comfy chairs, and great service. Anna did my nails 3 weeks ago and I highly recommend asking for her (pictures are my nails 3 weeks in). I got dip powder polish with nail extensions and they have not chipped at all or shown any signs of breaking in the near future. Anna is very precise with shaping and smoothing the extensions as well as doing the dip powder, I was really impressed. I'm from CT but my college is near the salon, and I've always been iffy about going to a salon that's not my regular home one, but this will be my new go-to when I'm on campus. read more

First off, I will say this salon is incredibly clean and gives the absolute best manicures and pedicures. Staff is very friendly and super helpful (one exception - I accidentally used the wrong wheel for a gel mani and my nail tech was extremely annoyed about this! So weird especially considering it was my first time there, had no idea which of the five wheels I should have used, and picked out the correct color on the correct wheel in about 30 seconds and even apologized!). I sadly had to stop going to this place due to the scheduling.The salon advertises "walk-ins accepted" but the first time I walked in I was told there was no one to help me. However, it was early morning so I didn't think anything of it and that I should probably call the next time. Next time - I called and ended up waiting 25 minutes. Got my gel mani and it was the BEST manicure I've ever received in the Boston area - it lasted for 3 weeks!!! So I went consistently for a while & was happy. A month or so later I called, made an appt, went in and was asked to come back in 45 minutes (after moving my schedule for the time they asked me to come in). I was sad to switch to another salon since the services are so great here, but unfortunately scheduling is a deal breaker for me. read more

After recognizing a review by a friend, I felt confident going. I found some time on my hands, but the nail salon where I was reeked of acetone, so I called M&T, and they reserved a spot for me for 20 minutes later. The place is small but plenty of chairs. The staff is very kind, personable and considerate. Plus it is clean and no typical acetone odor. A few small perks like hot stone massage as part of the normal pedicure, but not a lot of callus removal. All my nails look great, and it's reasonably priced. To avoid a 3% card fee, bring cash. Lynn paid a lot of attention to details, she cleaned up my nail beds and cuticles really well and did a good buff shine. Extras: The ladies were wonderful conversationalists. We chatted away the entire time, but they were fairly quiet until I initiated conversation, so if you are looking to relax, they won't talk your ear off. The sanitizing machine was clearly visible so you know the tools are clean. Decor: There's not much you can do with a rented space, but the carpet made me a little wary at first. It's not the prettiest, but the service made up for it. Other Details: Bring cash, there is a $1 surcharge for using a card. I have been here twice before, and unfortunately it's a bit too expensive and far away with traffic for me to continue coming back now that I've used up the gift certificate. The women here are very nice and sociable. I checked out the previous reviews/website and requested Be, the owner, for the gel mani / regular pedi. The salon itself looks very plain with minimal decorations and the standard nail polish rack with nail swatches on a ring. First time I arrived on time assuming I would be the first person since that's when the place opens according to their published hours. However similar to many other nail salons I still had to wait about 10-15 minutes. She said she'd be with me momentarily and asked me to pick out nail colors. That is nice that she made an exception for one of her loyal clients to do an earlier appointment, but unfortunate for me. I sat down at one of the three pedicure stations with scalding water until Be finally finished. We exchanged friendly banter which I was not accustomed to from other places I visited. I am unsure whether this place has the fake flip flops if you forget yours since I did not see any other women encounter this issue. They may have ran out of the toe separators so she used tissues the first time for everyone. It was my first time doing a gel manicure so I wasn't expecting this process to take so long. Overall the mani and pedi looked great! I should have asked to use the student discount the first time but I forgot. Anyway the second time I came back I had a new nail tech (Sylvia) who was not listed on the website and I arrived for their last appointment of the day so it was understandable that I had to wait again after my appointment time. I brought my own polish to use and she did not clean the polish residue off the bottle after use unfortunately. She did a good job with the pedicure, aside from the complaining she did the entire time about her aching back. I wasn't sure what she wanted me to say in response since it's not unexpected if she's hunched over the pedicure station all day... I tried to use the student discount they have advertised of 10% with the gift card, and was refused by Be because she said I could not use 2 promotions at the same time. Sonny does excellent work and seems to be really up-to-date on the cutting edge trends. This place is getting a makeover this week, but they should be back in biz by the weekend.
