Owning a BMW is a dual edged sword. Elegance, Power, Design... black hole, money pit, maintenance monster... It's frustrating. Because of its great engineering, they are powerful machines... but because of it's great engineering, they take so much time, effort, and money to maintain. And god forbid you're a middle class guy who has a future classic E46 M3, and the dealerships want my left leg and first born as payment. I have an E46 M3 that was exhibiting power decreases, and loud rumblings inside. SJ said he could take on the project. Long story short, it took 3 weeks of diagnostics, swapping parts, finding new issues, and trying new things to finally get this thing to run properly. SJ communicated all his work and thought processes VIA text/phone as I live in Southern California. He was honest, and let me know exactly what he wanted to do, what he did, and why he couldn't do certain things. He went ABOVE and BEYOND what a normal mechanic should do, and that is why I will continue to bring my BMW (and this is probably the last BMW I will ever want to purchase sans an E30) to him as long as he's there. I don't usually leave reviews but I felt compelled to this time due to how absolutely surprised I was by the quality of service I received here. I called M Auto after the BMW dealership quoted me a ridiculous amount for fixing a fuel pump. From the moment I called SJ took the time to understand what was happening with my car. I could tell right away he was an expert in BMWs. He not only went above and beyond to figure out exactly what was wrong with my car (as the dealership also misdiagnosed it) but even went as far as shopping around for parts and finding used parts when I told him the cost was a big deal for me especially as I was looking to sell the car since I'm moving out of the country. Any other auto shop would have taken advantage of the situation and overcharged me since this was a one time customer. Instead SJ was fair, polite and even came and picked me up from home so I wouldn't have to pay for an Uber and so I could also test drive the car and see the fix myself. I wish I would have discovered this place the few years I lived in Concord, I would have taken it here every time. I highly highly recommend this place and SJ if you have a BMW. This guy is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!! I'm from a different state here for some work and my car broke. The car broke down on a Friday evening and I had to be at work Sunday very early. Not only did he stay in contact way after hours to help me get a tow to his shop he was trying to help figure out what was wrong based on my descriptions (I fix cars too) but he also the next day diagnosed it and fixed it perfectly and the car runs great. We all know the old adage about mechanics...well, Mike is the outlier, the exception to the rule, making all other mechanics look bad. His vast knowledge of the automobile is encyclopedic. I've seen an extensive array of different vehicles at his shop, every time I have an appointment. From American to German to Asian, from classic cars to practically brand new, he can fix pretty much anything. I'm tempted to take my laptop to him, because odds are he'll do a better job than the computer repair guy I found on Craigslist (I know, I know). I first took my car to him when it did not pass a smog test, he looked at the smog report and told me that the smog people did it wrong. He then drove my car to another smog place (Pacheco smog) and they agreed with Mike and my car passed without any problems. He could have easily charged me for work that did not need to be done, but he did not, he spent over an hour with me, including making 2 phone calls to the orginal smog place and arguing with them on my behalf. My friend referred me to M-Auto Services when I was looking for a mechanic. I met SJ and he was very professional and knowledgeable about BMW engines, and he fixed the following on my 2012 BMW 740i: 1. Leaked power steering expansion hose 2. Leaked turbo gasket 3. Replaced torn rear subframe mount 4. Replaced front arm bushings 5. Replaced ignition coil 6. Replaced headlights bulb and module And I also have him replaced front and rear brakes as it was previosly done poorly by other mechanic. SJ did a great job fixing all of those, and I'm very happy with the results. It feels like I'm driving a brand new car. Mike is great. It is run by one guy who honestly wants to make your car run better. I took one of my cars there, and now Mike is the only place we take our cars. He does an oil change for about $30, cheaper than Jiffy Lube who is awful. It is nice to support an independent, but truly talented mechanic who is not in it to screw you over and steal your cash.
