It was a cute lowkey donut shop, like other people say "hidden gem." I get so excited seeing donut shops especially since I'm from Long Island, New York and all we have is basically Dunkin' Donuts. It was a great donut and even better price. They have a great selection and plenty to grab a box of. I wish my family was in town to buy a dozen, but I was by myself and I got a cinnamon glazed donut-bun and it was very good! I didn't even need to dunk it in my coffee is was just perfect and fresh. Stopped by MJ Donuts this morning to pick up some rewards for the engineering team at work. No issues getting in, and service was quick and reasonably pleasant. I purchased a dozen donuts and one apple fritter, and they threw in several donut holes (~12) for free - all for around $15.50! Got back to the office and tried a cake donut. It was moist and cakey, quite nice. The donut holes and the apple fritter were also fresh and tasty, but the oil they used left a bad taste in the mouth. Not sure if it was just me or the day or whatever, but I decided I preferred Dunkin Donuts to the donuts at MJ. Great value for the money though - really want to say more positive things as the experience was good, but the donuts were just not the best. read more

I went here as a child and am so happy it's still around. This may seem blasphemous to some, but I think their donuts are delicious and significantly better than Krispy Kreme and any of the trendy donut places that have popped up around town. The donuts are delicious, reliably fresh, and no frills. I always love the surprise donut holes they put in the bag too! Our family loves MJ's. When Covid first started they were quick to add a safety barrier and we were so thrilled with the ingenuity. I've been to every "donut famous" place in the US. This place is the real deal. I'm so tired of gourmet donut stores that want to charge almost $4 for a single donut. For some reason, people in Cali know how to make a great, amazing fried donut. Not our here! The donuts here are awful! Most places in Charlotte seem to bake them. The hours are limited and there is a 5 dollar minimum for card purchases, but dang these are good donuts. There is something for everyone, but they are known for their apple fritters. They.are.huge. There are a lot of great donut options here in Charlotte, but most of them rely on unique topping and fillings to be successful. MJ's is a great, classic style donut. They don't need to go fancy since they have mastered their traditional style. They always have a great variety to choose from, including multiple "cake style" flavors. And as an added bonus, if you buy a dozen (and honestly who doesn't need a dozen for a weekend) they throw in a small bag of complimentary donut holes! why is this the only "good" doughnut place around town?! even the grocery stores are lacking in fresh doughnuts. i don't get it. i know there are dd, but they don't really count unless that is all you know. like everyone has mentioned, this place is major mom-n-pop. it's almost easy to miss. they only are open 'til noon. they give you free doughnut holes with every purchase. they're a pregnant girl's dream (or at least mine within this past year). and the owners are super nice and korean (?). asians represent!!! while it's not the best doughnut place i have ever been to (i consider myself an expert), it fits the bill. i've tried all they yeast-y doughnuts, because i don't care for cake ones--so forgive me if i have no opinion on those. the yeast-y ones are outstanding. i just wish they didn't run out of doughnuts so quick on the weekends. saturdays get really chintzy, because there are ball games and other events at the park nearby. so everyone within doughnut-eating range cleans them out. so don't expect to get all your faves, if you get here too late. read more

Stopped here because of the great reviews on yelp. The raspberry jelly donuts are absolutely delicious. The donut is super soft and fresh and they don't skimp on the raspberry filling. It's so sad when you get a donut and have to hunt for the filling and that is not the case here. I went to MJ's with high expectations only to to be disappointed. Where to begin? The donuts lack fluffiness, sweetness, and just about every other positive attribute expected from a flavorful treat.
