The Bahn Mi are amazing and super reasonable (read under 4 bucks for a good sized sandwich!!) Also try the bubble tea and the garden rolls!!

The #12 pho with rare beef and tendon is one of the best I've had. They are generous with amount of tendon. Service is fast and friendly.

We order take-out on a somewhat regular basis and are generally pleased, which is why the three stars and not one star rating. However, last night I ordered Tom Ka and it was the WORST I've ever tasted in my life. It was watered down, bland coconut milk with mushrooms and tofu---lacked flavor, none of the tasty subtle flavors. No basil, lemon grass, etc. It was gross. My husband ordered the M Saigon Rice (#38), there was ONE shrimp. Now we don't need 20 shrimp or anything, but maybe a couple, geez! We will try it one more time but if it is just watered down coconut milk we will make the longer drive to Winooski. read more

Excellent noodle soups. Much better in the restaurant than as take-home. My teen-aged boys love the M Saigon special (mostly protein). I've had better deep-fried rolls elsewhere. Wear long johns because the door lets in the cold. They have recently done some remodeling and it's much nicer. Service is very quick. I felt compelled to write a review simply because the previous review was so negative! I'm a HUGE foodie, and have to say I LOVE M Saigon. It's true that certain dishes are not my favorite, but I find that once you find your "go-to" dish... you'll be addicted. For an appetizer, I recommend the Tiger Rolls (over the crab rangoon), and the M-saigon Salad. #22 (Lemongrass Beef Bun) kicks butt (I like to add some sriracha to it),and the Pad Thai is pretty great too (for not being a Thai restaurant). I don't tend to like the "platters", but the traditional Vietnamese dishes (Bun, Pho, and the sandwiches) are killer! read more

I have had several good experiences here. The green curry is very tasty with good spice. A little light on the meat but overall very good and a large portion size. Their Pad-Thai is some of the best I have had. I love the authentic style tamarind sauce they use. Fresh ingredients prepared quickly. A little pricy, but the portions are large. read more

Very disappointed to find that they have done away with BYOB at dinner. Big benefit of this and other Vietnamese restaurants in Burlington has been to keep cost of eating out reasonable while still enjoying wine with the meal. Will be going to Pho Hong on the future read more

When my companion and I first dined at M-Saigon, we were blown away. I had the House Fried Rice, she had the Seafood Noodle Soup. It was the best fried rice I've ever had (and I really don't think it'll ever be topped). The shrimp and rice were cooked perfectly. The pork was amazing. I ordered it on my second trip and was just as pleased. My third order of this dish, however, found it somewhat salty and greasy. And the fourth--and sadly, last--was just awful: terribly salty. The pork was completely different and super salty, as well. I ate a quarter of the plate and had to stop. (If I wasn't so starved, I would have abandoned it after the first few bites.) My companion had a similarly unsavory experience. She ordered the Pad Thai, for the first time, and declared the shrimp wholly unpalatable. It tasted as if it had been discovered in the grass-catcher of a riding mower. I, myself, took a bite and had to discard the half-chewed remains into my napkin. To offset the disappointment, I joked that it was probably just "grass-fed shrimp," wrangled by cowboys and girls on seahorses. Neither of us remarked to our server on the quality of the Pad Thai, but I did report, when asked, that the rice was unusually salty and that the pork was very different, as well. Our server simply said he would let the kitchen know. Thereafter, he seemed to avoid us and glumly bid us a good night, when the check was delivered. I was deeply disappointed with our experience, that night, as it meant we might never go back. The fried rice was, as I said, the best I've ever had, on that first and second visit. It's disheartening to think that I'll never have it again. But I don't know. It could be they've changed chefs, or that they have, on occasion, someone in the kitchen who is unfamiliar with the way things are done. Save for the Pad Thai incident, my companion had always previously ordered some variety of Pho and was always especially pleased with it. The only time I ordered Pho--the Four Seasons one, I believe it's called--I was let down by the burnt egg floating on top (though the rest of the soup was fine). We've also tried the Iced Coffee twice and the Bubble Tea on several occasions and were very happy the first time with the former and each time with the latter. My hope is that M-Saigon is merely inconsistent in the production of their offerings, and not, as I feared, actually losing their edge. Should any member of the staff be reading this, please don't take my criticisms the wrong way: When your food is good it's, frankly, damned amazing. (More than once, we've thanked whatever deities there may be--and neither of us is particularly religious--for giving us M-Saigon.) When it's bad, however, it's just plain depressing. Please restore our faith. We sincerely want to believe. We NEED to believe. read more

It's been a while since I've been able to find really good fresh pho. In my curry dish I was pleasantly surprised to find better vegetables such as broccoli and sweet potatoes over plain potatoes that fell apart and sloppier cheaper veggies before. Service, service, Customer service - for "Take Out" at that. I have been a routine patron here for 6 years and this evening's experience prompted me to write this review...and even sign up for YELP). Overall: The food is good - not my style for the Asian-American dishes - but the Pho, Banh Mi and essentially most Vietnamese items are what I gravitate towards. Plus the 2-minute bike ride means quick grub!!! "Picture it: Burlington, Aug 2015" (thank you Sophia Petrillo) We had just returned from vacation and ordered food: Banh Mi, Pho, and other soup. Upon returning home not having checked the order, my better-half alerted me that it was the incorrect Pho and short the Banh Mi. I called to verify I had the correct take-out order, where the hostess and I concluded it was a mix-up in ordering all around - I do take responsibility for not checking the order or even receipt in full at time of purchase. The hostess was extremely nice, professional and apologetic about the confusion on the order. Upon returning - I received the correct Pho and the Banh Mi with ZERO HASSLE or Disrespect. I would have preferred to pay for the Banh Mi, as it was honestly just missed, but they wouldn't allow it. I have limited experience in matters of this kind BUT feel this scenario would have played out MUCH differently at many other establishments on a Saturday evening - for Take Out. Again the hostess (and host) were extremely professional and customer-orientated in the whole situation - which in all honesty I am at least "half-to-blame". OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! M Saigon, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... #36 Vietnamese Crispy Crepe, #19 Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, #2 BBQ Pork Banh Mi, #C1 Red Curry, #C2 Green Curry... oh, and the pure delight of your Mango and Sticky Rice dessert, covered in coconut cream and big enough to share! I haven't even explored M Saigon's menu fully yet, but I have found some real treasures at this delightful little restaurant! I first tried them because I had heard about their Banh Mi's, the Vietnamese sandwich that they make with bread they bake fresh everyday. Incredible! The bread is simply...just wonderful, like the breads I had in Hungary, and have been craving and unable to find ever since! Lovely, crispy, crackly, impossibly thin and solid crust, and inside the bread is lovely and soft and just beautiful, very, very light! The Banh Mi's can't be beat, especially with amazing bread like that (and they toast every sandwich as they are making it, so the bread has a perfect crust and comes to you slightly warm - YUMMM!)! M Saigon's perfection goes beyond the Banh Mi, however. I would almost die for their red curry on the Asian Specials menu. It comes in a soup bowl and it looks like a soup because it has so much coconut milk in it! You will never experience a lack of sauce with this dish, it is so completely beautiful and right, it's just amazing! It's spicy and sweet at the same time. The green curry, one item down on the menu, is also excellent, with of course, a green curry flavor but prepared and served in the same way with lots of coconut milk! My other favorite eating-in entree here is #36, the Crispy Crepe. It's a very large crepe made with coconut rice flour and a bit of turmeric (according to the menu), and stuffed with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, mung beans, and onions, and it comes with a lovely sauce to pour over if you want (it's a very light sauce and I find it works very well with it), and lettuce leaves. AMAZING!!! It sounds kind of weird but it works perfectly! The coconut flavor and the crispy edges are just beautiful, and then it is creamy and lovely toward the middle (it's kind of like an omelet), and all of the flavors...ok, now I'm really getting hungry!! I have to say that this is my favorite restaurant right now, and also say that I have not made an exhaustive study of their menu - yet! This is what I find is what makes M Saigon different from the other Vietnamese places in the area. People tend to go to other places because they are known for doing one thing very well - like Pho Dang does pho very well, and that's why people go there. I've found that M Saigon is different, however. People don't come here for one item that they specialize in. They have a very diverse menu, with things I've never seen at other Vietnamese places, and here's the thing... they're all GOOD!!! No matter what I've tried at this place, I haven't had a bad meal! My problem is that I have found a couple of dishes that I love and CRAVE sooo much that I keep ordering them again and again, and I have to force myself to try different things on their menu! Every time I have done that, I find something new and very good! So, give M Saigon a shot, especially if you are looking for Vietnamese food other than pho (soup). They do have pho, and it is very good, but they have SO MANY OTHER, incredibly good and unique things, it is a shame that people don't know about this hidden gem! read more

Tonight was deserving of one star, only because there is no half-star option. Where do we start? They don't serve complimentary tea anymore - a month ago we were served hot tea as we were seated. Tonight the tea came with our meal, and we were charged two dollars. On day three of being employed, our waitress was still completely unfamiliar with the menu. She asked what size we would like our spring rolls and crispy wonton soup, which are standard sizes from the Appetizer list. When I inquired about the soup of the day she simply said I don't know. When the spring rolls arrived she brought them without the plum dipping sauce. When she returned with the sauce it didn't have peanuts with it. She took the dipping sauce away and forgot to bring it back. When the wonton soup came it was a different wonton soup with assorted vegetables. The soup was good enough, but not what I ordered. One entree arrived and our waitress said enjoy even though we were still waiting for a Saigon Salad. From there on out the waitress didn't check in with us, let alone even look our way to inquire about the missing salad. We had to get up and go to the counter to ask for the salad that never made it on the order. The salad finally arrived yet we were disturbed to find a long hair at near the end of the plate. When the waitress finally came back, only to ask us if we wanted our check, I told her to hold off. At this point I went up to the counter to ask another waitress who was in charge. The manager/owner/chef came out from the kitchen and I shared that I had been here before and this was by far the worst service yet and I would appreciate the meal on the house or at least a significant discount. I suppose he was nice enough to take the hairy salad off the bill. I accepted this gesture and further shared our disappointment by leaving a $0.00 tip. And for the grand finale, as we were on our way out we see the table next to us finding not one, but two hairs in their noodles! Enjoy! read more

My third time and it is consistently very good. Plenty of water with fruit slices and a pot of genuine jasmin tea. Very large portions and one member of my party was ecstatic about her spicy duck dish. Very good service and quiet atmosphere. We are happy and very full as well. read more

I have eaten in and had takeout a number of times here. It is a small, family run business. The food and value is unbeatable (Banh Mi and vermicelli bun are always solid). Although the decor in the main restaurant is somewhat dated and sober, the new addition to the restaurant next door has a more inviting and contemporary look. Second time I've had an MSG reaction after eating pho ga here. I've had this from beef broth pho before at other restaurants, but not from chicken except here. The ban mi are good, although a little inconsistent. I'd like to rate higher, but heavy MSG use is a deal killer for me...and Pho Hong is all around better. read more

I'm an avid foodie who's had Vietnamese food from California, New York and Montreal. In my opinion the sandwiches and pho here were decent, but the "seafood noodles", not so much. I definitely would not recommend getting them; they consist of a small portion of overcooked udon, fake crab meat, a bit of haddock, and two pieces of shrimp. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was lacking; the tables were oily and the restrooms were unkempt. Service could have been better as well. Love M-Saigon for lunch. Their sandwiches are an amazing value and if you haven't had a Vietnamese Sandwich before, they are a nice surprise. You can't beat the value at only $3.95, $4.95 with a beverage from the cooler. Paid and forgot mine today. I tried the soup of the day, and although it was good, I wouldn't say that it was anything special. It was a Chicken Wonton, which is a available in a small portion on a regular basis. It would have been nice to see something truly special or something from their full portion menu at a lunch price. I'll be back. If you go, do yourself a favor and try a Banh Mi. read more

I love love love the Vietnamese BBQ Pork Banh Mi (sandwich). It was fantastic. I also enjoyed the massaman curry, although it did not have the "right" vegetables. It was advertised with potatoes and carrots, which I believe is traditional, but had some random green peppers, sweet potatoes, etc. which I do not eat. At least the sauce and peanuts were right. I'd probably get something different for dinner next time, but for lunch, I'd absolutely go for the banh mi again. Decent atmosphere and service. read more

Please skip this horrid dive as there are many better options. I ate here 3 times out of desperation and each time was worse than the last. The last time was by far the worst as I had food poisoning as a result. Since I had skipped lunch there was no doubt M Saigon was the cause. I can't even think of it or write this review without feeling sick. Food poisoning aside, I can't imagine why anyone would give it more than a star. All 7 dishes I ordered were among the worst vietnamese I had ever had, particularly the ban xio or crepe, which is usually a fav of mine. I got an account just to review this place. Horrible food. I had the calamari appetizer, which was so over cooked I couldn't bite through it. Then I had the peanut noodles with chicken. Chicken was way over cooked and the veggies were just about raw. The peanut sauce tasted like Lipton French Onion Soup mix cooked with a spoonful of peanut butter. I also had a pepsi....which had no carbonation to it...so i washed abysmal food down with soda syrup for $22. read more
