Came to M Tea Shop to try the Matcha Tornado -- I'd heard it was comparable to Izumi's famous Crème Brûlée Matcha, so I had high hopes. The drink was definitely good -- the matcha flavor was very very light, but refreshing overall. Texture-wise, it reminded me a lot of a green tea Frappuccino from Starbucks, just a bit more refined. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. While the Matcha Tornado is a solid drink, it doesn't come close to the richness and decadence of Izumi's crème brûlée matcha. The shop itself is cute and service was quick, so no complaints there. Just know that if you're chasing that crème brûlée matcha magic, this might not quite scratch the itch. Verdict: Worth a try, but I'll be sticking with Izumi's when I'm craving that next-level matcha fix. This review was just for one matcha drink, since I didn't get to try anything else. read more

This place took me by surprise, always passed by while driving but never thought to stop in until today. Inside has a few tables and seats, more of a grab and go, self-order on a tablet kind of place with minimal interaction with staff. I was excited to see they had a matcha brûlée drink (matcha tornado) on the menu and was curious to compare it with the one at Izumi. I love checking out new shops that pop out in town but there are also reasons why I stuck to going to the staples. You would think that nowadays shops who start any kind of business would do some sort of research as to why shops fail or what things make customer happy. I guess not for this shop. I saw that they made hot matcha lattes so I asked if they are able to make it hot for their brown sugar latte. The answer was no. So clearly not very flexible. So I Instead ordered matcha latte with less ice. Since they won't make it hot. Take note they also charge 25 cents more if you ask for no ice. When the drink came out; the whole drink was overflowing with ice like to the brim. I asked them if they could remove some of that ice and put more drink. Instead what they did is remove like half of the ice and they then serve me this. As you can tell even after removing some ice it still has quite a lot. If I just wanted to play games I would've gone to an arcade. These people really have the audacity to charge almost $7 for a drink and turn around and slap you with garbage service and product. In short instead of saving a first time customer; even after showing the manager; they apologized but clearly not willing to make it right. Well they lost money on this because I refunded it and lost a first time customer as well. I stay away from places that don't have common sense in customer service and don't value people's hard earned money. Go somewhere else! read more

This place is in the small plaza across the street from Target. I came on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and the place was empty. The interior is very clean and bright and white, so it was very inviting. There are some tables and chairs inside if you want to stay. Ordering was easy off the screen. I ordered the milk tea with cheese topping, and was able to order it without sugar. The drink came out fast and the tea tasted super fresh! read more

The décor here is beautiful, with a sleek and modern design, though the space is on the smaller side. When I arrived, I realized it's both a tea shop and a wax/facial office. I do hope they have separate staff for each service, because I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable if someone went from finishing a waxing appointment to making drinks. The shop itself looks clean, but the chairs felt a bit sticky. The drinks I saw on Yelp looked gorgeous, which is what drew me in. I decided to try a basic drink to start. Nothing special, basic. Final Thoughts: 3.49/5 Looking at the pictures, I really wanted to like this place. Their drinks are made very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. We were there at about 6:30pm. Very quiet and not too much traffic at all for a Friday night. Perhaps it was the timing that we went, but the drinks that my friend and I got were just "okay". Perhaps this will change later, but at this time the rating hovers between a 3 and a 4 star. With the pictures of their other drinks that I see, I am intrigued by them and would probably consider returning if another opportunity arises. Drinks: Dongding Oolong Tea (25% Sweetness): 3.7/5 Seems like lots of places are providing this tea nowadays. I'm not complaining because I love oolong tea in general. The color of this tea is beautiful - very deep amber color. Even after mixing thoroughly, the flavor for this drink seems to be lacking in the distinct nutty and toasted notes to it. The flavor is present - it's just a fairly light taste overall. A few seconds after tasting it, I thought it was black tea and had to take another sip or two for confirmation. Perhaps it's the quality or time steeped. I can't imagine this being a factor as most if not all teas have a specific time range for steeping. Sweetness - Quite sweet for my choice of 25%. Subjective, but I've had my fair share. I tried my friend's drink too and they were almost identical in sweetness levels. Not ideal given the differences in sweetness level choice. Pure Black Milk Tea (50% Sweetness with Caramel Boba): 3.1/5 Tried my friends drink for review purposes, as well. The flavor of the tea is quite nice - Very smokey and earthy tones to it. Sweetness - Sweet for an item that's 50% sweetness. Again, this is one of those subjective factors though and everyone has their own thoughts about what 0 to 100% sweetness means. Boba hmm quite mushy even for me. By no means am I the queen of boba, but this was very overdone, even for me. Texture wise - There was no bite or firmness to it at all. It was essentially a ball of mochi. For the flavor, I was expecting that caramel flavor. It's a sweet nutty and buttery flavor. From the responses, it's state that they use brown sugar, however, I felt that the flavor didn't really come through. Brown sugar also has a very distinct flavor from the molasses, but perhaps it was masked by the sweetness of this drink in general. --------- Quality: Fair The flavor of teas are nice overall. My expectation is just that the flavor is stronger and comes through better. The strength of the black tea came out quite nicely, but the oolong was needed a little something more. Colors of the drinks look beautiful and the aroma of both drinks were quite fragrant, which leads me to believe that quality items are used. Another note is that they have an item on the menu that specifically states "Ceremonial Matcha Latte". Definitely the preferred kind of matcha and quality of ingredients that I always expect. Price: Average Quite the typical pricing for cafes, boba, and tea shops these days. They have quite a simple menu with some variety. The price ranges from $5.50 to $7.00, which again, very average these days. Ambiance: Quaint The interior is quite nice. Very cute and I could see myself studying here if I were still a student. They have a nice Christmas tree inside for the holidays. Color theme is very pastel and soft with a nice hunter green accent color. Matches very well with the wood. Nice background and props for my pictures here, which is a plus. Location/Parking: Suboptimal to fair This is another spot where I do not intend on going alone to at night. Given that I'm usually not the driver, I had no idea where this location was. Perhaps that's my fault though because this area has larger plazas around it with Target, Smart & Final, TJ Maxx, The Home Depot, etc. Parking is kind of interesting and I 100% would have missed the entrance to this. This location sits at the corner of a larger plaza and there is a divide between the parking lots. While the parking does look optimal and spots look big enough, the four cars that we encountered seemed to be struggling to park, reverse out, and leave. Within about 3 to 5 minutes of sitting in the car trying the drinks, they all came so close to hitting our car. read more

Sitting around a 3.5/5 right now but I don't think I can give them above a 3. Pure Black Milk Tea 50% sweet w/ Boba - 3/5 Still pretty sweet, I think this was due to the whatever concoction the boba sits in as my first sip was very overly sweet, almost syrupy in taste/texture. Boba itself was extremely overcooked (or probably sitting for longer than a few hours) as it was mushy. However, the tea was pretty decent enough that I would leave them around average Parking lot kinda seems sketchy at night even if the plaza itself is just across from Target, and generally speaking doesn't seem like the best spot for a boba place. With that said, kinda dead on a Friday Night 1.5 hours before close, which may play a role into the boba being not up to my standards. Ambiance itself fits most boba shops, being pretty student/work-friendly with good seating/tables. However, again location may be playing against them. Edit: Replaced "syrup" for more generalized words since I don't mean to state they're taking shortcuts, but... I think by definition caramel is a syrup regardless if you make it from scratch (with brown sugar as they state) or not. read more

When I came in, the shop was very slow, though there were a few orders in the queue. I couldn't find the avocado slush on the kiosk or iPad menu, so I asked the server (who appeared to be the only one working at the time). She seemed annoyed and told me the item was no longer available. I then looked at the wall menu to choose something else and went back to the iPad to place my order, only to find that the Dong Ding Oolong milk tea wasn't listed either. I waited and asked the server again after she reappeared from behind the curtain. She gave me a dismissive look and said they don't carry that item either. This is now the closest bubble tea shop to my house, so I've become a frequent customer because convenience is everything. It's next door to Little Caesar's, which my kids are constantly requesting for dinner anyway. I like the Mashed Taro Fresh Milk here. The taro paste is plentiful and flavorful, though perhaps just a bit too sweet. My kid loves it too. I also like the salted cheese topping here. This was on my list of places to try, since there aren't a lot of milk tea spots around the area. The plaza that it's located in has a lot of parking and a couple of places to eat as well. When I walked into the shop, there's a lot of space to sit and enjoy your drinks. And the walls around the shop are very picturesque, so you can take your time taking pictures with your drinks. There were 2 self kiosks for you to order your drinks, which is very convenient too. I got a Thai Tea but also was interested in their Green Milk Tea, which had their house milk tea, a bit of matcha, and jasmine green tea. I got both drinks with 100% sweetness and regular ice. I enjoyed the Green Milk tea and the amount of sweetness was just right, not too sweet either! I'm excited to come back next time to try their other matcha drinks! read more

Yay! A good milk tea shop in Cambrian!! My go to milk tea of choice is Jasmine with grass jelly. The closest option to that here was the Jasmine matcha milk tea. ( No plain jasmine offered) It was such a refreshing combo to my surprise and it worked well together! Jasmine flavor really stands out and matcha is subtle. I just wish they had grass jelly. Tasty new neighborhood boba place that just opened this weekend! Drinks are tasty, they put care into making the drinks just right. Great matcha flavor in the Matcha Tornado and a nice, strong Thai tea flavor in the Thai Milk Tea. Boba is chewy, sweet and on the softer side. I'd get both drinks again! You order from the tablet at the front, but staff is friendly and available if you have any questions. The full menu isn't available at the moment, but it's still their soft opening. Yay for a new tea place. Located in the little strip plaza next to Smart and Final and across from Target. Very bright interior, cute simple decor, and good amount of seating. The menu is pretty high so could be difficult to read but the ordering tablet explains each drink and has corresponding pics. Base drink prices seemed a little steeper than other places, toppings additional $.75 and milk substitutes for $1. Ceremonial matcha latte 50% sweet ($6.50) + tiramisu foam ($.75) - This tasted like a standard matcha latte, good tea flavor, smooth, no bitterness. 50% was perfect sweetness since I prefer stronger tea drinks. Tiramisu foam was yummy at first but had an extremely salty aftertaste. Chatramue Thai tea 50% sweet ($6.50) - The OG Thai milk tea! Definitely a strong and fragrant tea that typically leans very sweet. Even at 50% sweetness, it was still too sweet for me lol. Still yummy nonetheless. They're in soft opening so this could change, but for regular non-boba straws, they had paper straws that barely reach over the lid lol. But if you don't use straws, the sipping lid has a little attachment that you can snap back on to prevent spills! Overall, def give it a try! I'd been following this place in IG for a bit now. I wasn't able to make it to their soft and grand openings. But they were having a deal over Thanksgiving weekend so I decided to stop by while I was running errands. It's not super close to me unfortunately. But if it was unique and tasty, I could be convinced to make this part of my regular rotation. It's kinda in the same shopping center as Smart and Final. But the parking is separated a bit. And the adjacent shopping center has Target and Home Depot. I walked in to an empty, but very clean and sophisticated shop. The lady greeted me. But they had two ipads on the counter for me to put in my order. Since it was my first time, I took my time deciding. I first got the matcha strawberry latte - that's usually one of my go-tos at boba places. Since they were having a BOGO 50% off the second drink, I had a hard time picking the second drink. I wanted something with tea. The first two drinks that caught my eye were the mango cloud and the golden passion. Unfortunately, both of those had no caffeine and were more like juices. So I ended up with strawberry green tea. And I got that with caramel boba. You are able to customize the sweetness and ice levels, which I always appreciate. I think the lady I saw at the beginning was there by herself and she went in the back to make my drinks. They do make them to order bc it took a minute to get both drinks together. I hope they have more people working and can also crank out drinks quickly when it's busy. I had the strawberry tea first since I added boba. I didn't particularly taste the "caramel" in the boba. It was nice and chewy and sweet but no caramel flavor. The drink had a lot of strawberry bits blended in and I really enjoyed it. The tea flavor was not super strong and I don't know how much caffeine was in it, as I started getting tired less than 4 hours later. Overall it was an enjoyable drink. It actually reminded me of another boba drink I like and then I realized the logo of this place seems very similar to that other place too. The matcha strawberry latte was quite tasty also. Lots of strawberry bits that naturally sweeten the drink up. I would get this drink again. Each drink is about $7, which is kinda the standard now. A friend suggested this tea shop because it was at a halfway point. The inside is so cute! And while other reviews talk negatively about the tablet ordering system, I love it! I get to peruse the menu on my own time and no one is staring at me waiting for me make up my mind. It's also fun to go through the tablet menu with friends and strategize who will order what so you can maximize trying all the things! I have been here with my friend group plus my toddler and another time with just a good friend. The drinks are consistently so so good! I've gotten the matcha brown sugar drink and the matcha foam on green tea. The funny thing is that I'm not usually a matcha person but these drinks just looked so good! And they tasted even better!!!! The owner Chloe comes out every so often to serve the drinks and she even asked me how I liked one of my drinks because it was a new one she came up with. I love the laidback way the shop is run. That being said, both times I visited, there were some sticky spots from drinks on the beautiful white furniture, so it would be nice if the tables were wiped more often (or maybe I just had really bad timing). M TeaShop is located in what seems like a semi-busy plaza, they are a bit off to the side though. Parking is a bit awkward to navigate through, I just parked in the main area and walked over. No service - ordering is through one of the kiosks up front and the employee stays in the back end in the kitchen behind the curtains, except when bringing out your drink(s). I feel like as a new shop, a lot of customers will have questions & concerns about their menu items, so it was a bummer how difficult it is to get ahold of an employee, if you needed to. I ordered their Green Milk Tea with caramel boba. I had a few questions about both the drink and boba, but could not get ahold of someone because they were behind the curtains in the kitchen. When I was ordering, it states that the milk tea I ordered has a hint of matcha, which I could had done without, but again, no one to address this to or ask. Our drinks were incredible! My friend got the brown sugar fresh milk and the only feedback he had is that he'd like to be able to order it extra sweet (beyond 100%). I had the chatramue Thai tea and it was one of the best Thai teas I've ever had! I love when it has the subtle floral hint in the background, so many shops when they make Thai tea somehow lose that in their prep process.
