    N1. Pad Thai with Shrimp
    Nelson Y.

A small Thai restaurant located on Metropolitan Ave, with a few tables and chairs. Came by for early dinner after running errands in the neighborhood. The staff was attentive and kept filling our glass of water. My sister and I ordered the Fried pork belly, Chicken Coconut Soup Tom Kha Kai, Papaya Salad, and a Shrimp Pad Thai. The staff knew we couldn't take the spice for the Papaya salad so she offered a sweeter sauce for the pork belly. The customer service was exceptional. The food has a lot of flavor but the portion was a bit small and the prices were on the higher end. Also, there's no public restrooms for diners. 3 stars for Service and food quality. Minus 2 stars because of the Price and food portion.

Amazing tofu scallion soup for a perfect cold day with some chines sautéed broccoli ... I will be back sooner than later ... tiny place but big flavors.

I haven't really explored many of my local restaurants but today I found a gem. I was starving and wasn't sure what to have for lunch. Casually decided to stop at Ma Kin. I was immediately greeted by the owner Ms. Fon, who was absolutely delightful; welcoming and sweet. Let's get to the gyst, the food rocks. EVERYTHING we ate was delicious. EVERYTHING. I even tried the Thai iced tea and it was super good. I will definitely be a regular. We had appetizers(shrimp roll and Thai crackers) but devoured them before thinking of taking pics.

Ma Kin is a very authentic Thai place. The owner is from Northern Thailand and as a result, the menu features many dishes you will not find at our typical Thai place that serves Central Thai food. I recommend trying some dishes off their "Signature Menu" to experience them, such as the Larb Muang (minced pork salad) or Goong Ob Woonsen (Glass noodles with shrimp). The portion sizes were very generous here too. The only reason this place is not more popular is because they are in an out of the way location in Queens.

Petite restaurant with big dreams on Metropolitan Ave. Pad Kua Gai noodles were very good with broad rice noodles along with sliced chicken breast and squid. The noodles were fresh and the squid was very tender. While this was one of the best dishes in my order, the spice level in the dish was muted and not what I would generally expect. The Soft Shell Crab was also good. Two good sized soft shell crabs came in one order over a bed of semi steamed vegetables. Layering the fried soft shell crab over a bed of vegetables was a good idea to allow for any residual oil to drain off. This dish was fried well, but on its own, the crab lacked any hint of Thai seasoning that I've come to expect and was rather bland. I do have to say in retrospect there was a container of sauce which may have been for this dish or another. There wasn't anything on the container saying so. The BBQ Chicken was a half chicken grilled in a Thai soy sauce based marinade. The cut up chicken by itself, with the soy marinade was over salted for my taste. What also didn't help matters was the fact that it was overdone and dry. This was the least favorite of the dishes tried. Ma Kin is nestled in tightly in a row of merchants on a major thoroughfare, good food worthy of another try with a definitive request to amp up the spice level next time.

When I ordered this through seamless, the site did not give me any warnings that it was too far away and even Yelp said from my location it was 1.7 miles away... When our delivery guy showed up he was a bit miffed that he had to ride his manual bicycle for almost 3 miles to deliver. First off dude, you're delivering in Queens, who doesn't have a scooter or car these days to deliver?! Regardless, our food came hot and well packaged. I appreciated that the store owner called and let us know that one of the items we had placed an order for was not available because they sold out for the day, yay, so he suggested a few items that we could switch it out for. I totally appreciate it the customer service! Because of the COVID-19 quarantine, delivery was our only option :/ still the portions were huge and the price comparable to what I received. Curry puffs, chicken pad Thai, beef red curry, beef pad see ew, and the cheese and crab wontons all hit the right spot for this hungry crew. We will visit you in person soon!

My fiancé & I were searching Google for a place to eat & stumbled across this restaurant. The restaurant was clean & so cute! We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the weather. Our server was very friendly & kind (wish I got their name.) Everything we ordered was FANTASTIC! They also have a grade A. Appetizers (5/5 ): We started off with the Crispy Creme (crab meat & cream cheese in a crispy wanton) & the Fresh Rolls (veggie rolls with peanut sauce.) Both appetizers were phenomenal! DRINKS (5/5): I had the Butterfly Blue Tea for the first time ever & it was pretty refreshing! The colors are beautiful, in the light you can see rings on blue & purple. Looks like magic! I added a little bit of sugar for preference. Overall still amazing! My fiancé had the Thai Iced Tea & it's cool to see the swirls when you mix the layers of the drink together! Also very good flavor. Loved both beverages. Entrees (5/5 ): I had the Spicy Basil with beef at a level 2 spice (Spice level 1-5) with a side of Jasmine rice. It was honestly the perfect amount of spice for me. The flavors were great! My fiancé had the Pineapple Fried Rice with Crispy Pork (THE PORK IS AMAZING!) DESSERT (4/5): We had the Coconut pudding, flavor was good, texture was chewy but still really good! Overall 5/5: If it was out of 10 I would rate it an 11! Would definitely recommend coming here & trying some of their amazing food! Will definitely be coming back again. Thank you!

Pad Krapow (Spicy Thai Basil w/ ground chicken and a fried egg). Extra spice on the side.

Price-wise was excellent with most dishes around the $10-30 range. Portions were large and meant to be shared. As for the food itself, I honestly expected better. If it was ranking in the same leagues as Fish Cheeks, Pranakhon, and Bangkok Supper Club on Beli, I thought the taste would be phenomenal but it truly just tasted like any decent thai spot I could find in SoCal. The only difference is that in SoCal there would be little to no wait. I must clarify that my qualms is not with the restaurant but with NYC having an issue of overinflating certain places and establishing high expectations of otherwise normal restaurants just doing its thing. The pad see ew was my favorite, and I liked how wide and long the noodles were. Otherwise, their Michelin Yum Duk Pla Fu was just another mango salad to me, and I had wished that the catfish tasted more like fish than breadcrumbing. The green curry was decent, nothing special. Good price for what you get though. If the wait wasn't unnecessarily long, I would consider this a nice spot for cheap, yummy Thai.

They definitely didn't tell me that lunch specials were available before I ordered my soup. Other than that, everyone is pleasant. The kitchen here doesn't shy away from traditional flavors--the food is unapologetically spicy and savory, avoiding the "overly sweet" profile that many Thai spots fall into. Here's the breakdown of what we tried: Tom Yum Goong: This was the star of the show. It had a sharp, clean heat and a perfect citrus punch without that syrupy finish you often find elsewhere. Crispy Pork Belly: Exactly what you want it to be. The skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat remained tender, seasoned perfectly to highlight the savory pork flavor. Fried Fish: Deep-fried to perfection with a light, crispy exterior. The sauce paired chili and fish sauce with fresh mango. Crab Fried Rice: Generous with the crab meat and wonderfully "wok-hei" (charred) and salty. It wasn't bogged down by sweet soy sauce, allowing the delicate crab to shine. The only real sweetness of the night came from the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect, cooling end to a very spicy meal. The mango was ripe and the coconut milk was rich, providing the only sugary reprieve of the evening. Service was so nice. The hostess and sever were so nice and friendly. The severer felt like a Thai uncle, he made jokes, gave us napkins, joked with my child. It felt so familial.
