Though I typically head towards Elmhurst for my spicy fix, it's nice to have a local option when I don't want to go far. From my recent visit, most of what they offer was quite good. I really liked the Fried Fish Cakes and Chive Cakes appetizers, but not a big fan of the Roti Massaman. For entrees, I enjoy their Hung Le, which was a delicious pork curry. Seafood Pad Cha was also quite flavorful. The Duck Sam Rod was tasty, but the duck was a bit dry. Only thing I am just okay with is the Larb Muang. To finish off, we got the Mango Sticky Rice, which was a great way to end the meal. read more

Got take-out from here so admittedly I'm reviewing this in that light (i.e. giving it a bit more grace than if I had eaten it in person). Tom yum soup: this was delightful. It was a small/appetizer size portion for about $9 each. The chicken it came with was fine, I ended up adding some more protein. I think the flavor could have been a BIT spicier but it was nice. Garlic sautéed: this was my least favorite of the 3 things I got. To be fair, I try not to order seafood as my protein in Thai dishes like this as I feel like it's a bit of a waste and doesn't add much to the dish. But despite this, I felt like the sauce was a bit boring and the garlic certainly was not evenly distributed. Spicy basil w/ chicken: I've always said spicy basil is an excellent dish on which to judge a Thai restaurant and this was a good option. Perfectly spicy, good amount of substance, and chicken was nice. Lived up to standards. Side note, I truly appreciated that everything was super wrapped in plastic wrap so it was an overall very clean takeout experience. read more

A small Thai restaurant located on Metropolitan Ave, with a few tables and chairs. Came by for early dinner after running errands in the neighborhood. The staff was attentive and kept filling our glass of water. My sister and I ordered the Fried pork belly, Chicken Coconut Soup Tom Kha Kai, Papaya Salad, and a Shrimp Pad Thai. The staff knew we couldn't take the spice for the Papaya salad so she offered a sweeter sauce for the pork belly. The customer service was exceptional. The food has a lot of flavor but the portion was a bit small and the prices were on the higher end. Also, there's no public restrooms for diners. 3 stars for Service and food quality. I was immediately greeted by the owner Ms. Fon, who was absolutely delightful; welcoming and sweet. Let's get to the gyst, the food rocks. EVERYTHING we ate was delicious. EVERYTHING. Ma Kin is a very authentic Thai place. The owner is from Northern Thailand and as a result, the menu features many dishes you will not find at our typical Thai place that serves Central Thai food. I recommend trying some dishes off their "Signature Menu" to experience them, such as the Larb Muang (minced pork salad) or Goong Ob Woonsen (Glass noodles with shrimp). The portion sizes were very generous here too. The only reason this place is not more popular is because they are in an out of the way location in Queens. read more

The restaurant was cute and cozy. My best friend and I loved the decor. We visited on Halloween evening and it was empty. The host was very friendly and accommodating. My friend and I found our chicken pad see ew too salty and she was gracious enough to send it back to the kitchen to adjust it. The food was mediocre overall. We ordered curry puffs, spring rolls, shrimp rolls, edamame, and vegetable gyoza dumplings. I wouldn't go back here for the food, but the service was definitely a plus. read more

I've ordered from them in the past, typically delivery. Tried to give it a chance a few times and was disappointed. Since then they have changed management and the food has been amazing! I finally went in with my fiance to enjoy some hot Thai food after seeing a movie nearby. It was rainy and cold so the thought of some spicy comfy soup lifted my soul. Nothing fancy while you dine in. It's quiet and small so couples are encouraged. Started with the Roti Massaman and it was delicious. The Tom Kha soup was hot, creamy and with a hint of spice, it hit the spot. Had a hard time deciding on the main dish but ended up with Chicken Pad See Ew. Also delicious but AGAIN, the noodles are the size of my face, they need to be cut up a little so it's easier to eat and the chicken was a bit dry. But overall edible and still tasty. The Thai Iced coffee is a must have for a drink, or even the iced tea. Other than that, recommend eating in than ordering in depending how far you are from them. read more

I think I'm having no luck with Thai restaurants lately. The food was ok, but they didn't get my order through one of the online ordering sites so I had to sit and wait for my meal. The longer I sat there the more grossed out I became. The place looks gross, I don't know what is in the lightbulbs but it looks like something met an untimely death and remained on the bulbs. Petite restaurant with big dreams on Metropolitan Ave. Pad Kua Gai noodles were very good with broad rice noodles along with sliced chicken breast and squid. The noodles were fresh and the squid was very tender. While this was one of the best dishes in my order, the spice level in the dish was muted and not what I would generally expect. The Soft Shell Crab was also good. Two good sized soft shell crabs came in one order over a bed of semi steamed vegetables. Layering the fried soft shell crab over a bed of vegetables was a good idea to allow for any residual oil to drain off. This dish was fried well, but on its own, the crab lacked any hint of Thai seasoning that I've come to expect and was rather bland. I do have to say in retrospect there was a container of sauce which may have been for this dish or another. There wasn't anything on the container saying so. The BBQ Chicken was a half chicken grilled in a Thai soy sauce based marinade. The cut up chicken by itself, with the soy marinade was over salted for my taste. What also didn't help matters was the fact that it was overdone and dry. This was the least favorite of the dishes tried. Ma Kin is nestled in tightly in a row of merchants on a major thoroughfare, good food worthy of another try with a definitive request to amp up the spice level next time. read more

When I ordered this through seamless, the site did not give me any warnings that it was too far away and even Yelp said from my location it was 1.7 miles away... When our delivery guy showed up he was a bit miffed that he had to ride his manual bicycle for almost 3 miles to deliver. First off dude, you're delivering in Queens, who doesn't have a scooter or car these days to deliver?! Regardless, our food came hot and well packaged. I appreciated that the store owner called and let us know that one of the items we had placed an order for was not available because they sold out for the day, yay, so he suggested a few items that we could switch it out for. I totally appreciate it the customer service! Because of the COVID-19 quarantine, delivery was our only option :/ still the portions were huge and the price comparable to what I received. Appetizers (5/5 ): We started off with the Crispy Creme (crab meat & cream cheese in a crispy wanton) & the Fresh Rolls (veggie rolls with peanut sauce.) Both appetizers were phenomenal! DRINKS (5/5): I had the Butterfly Blue Tea for the first time ever & it was pretty refreshing! The colors are beautiful, in the light you can see rings on blue & purple. Looks like magic! I added a little bit of sugar for preference. Overall still amazing! My fiancé had the Thai Iced Tea & it's cool to see the swirls when you mix the layers of the drink together! I had pointed it out to the cashier and all she did was called I believe the owner and told me they raised the prices but did not adjust on the menu. I am trying to support local business but this place has really gone downhill. The last order of food we got was NOT GOOD. My rice was dry and my dish was tasteless. Only two bites in and I find a LONG hair in the food. I understand things happen, but then another dish in the same order had some random object in it, possibly from a piece of clothing! The store did the right thing and refunded us, but that required a trip back to the store. It's really sad because we started going there when they first opened, but the meals have progressively gotten worse. We have so few stores left open on Metropolitan as it is, so I want them to succeed. read more

The chicken was actually extremely dry and overcooked which made the dish really disappointing. In addition, the noodles just didn't have a great flavor nor was there a lot of them. This place just opened a few weeks ago so I decided to try it out as I love thai food. The pad thai was delicious and not too spicy! It had very good peanut flavor and was a generous serving. The spicy basil was also very good and filling. The decor is very cute and aesthetically pleasing. There are only a few eat-in tables. I tried this restaurant on its yth day of opening. It's very small but cost. I got takeout since it was past 8pm and I was by myself. They still gave me a glass of water while I waited and were very friendly. I didnt take any pictures since I always think it's hard to for takeout. I ordered the curry puffs and the peanut Rama chicken. The curry puffs were perfectly flaky and delicious. I very much enjoyed them. The rams was also very good with a very rich peanut sauce with a small chili kick to it. Maybe a little more spice would've been welcomed with it. Seeing that this restaurant opened so recently, we decided to give delivery a try since it must be difficult for a new business right now. We got chive pancakes, makin chicken appetizer, panang curry with fish, crab fried rice, and beef pad see ew. Delivery was super fast. I like that they cut a hole in the lid of fried items to try to keep things from getting soggy. Portions are big and flavors are great! There is so much crab in the fried rice we were very impressed with it. Pad see ew did not have the wok flavor but I like that it was not too greasy, not too salty, or too sweet. Panang curry was delicious with big fresh chunks of fish. My only problem is that it was way too creamy and not spicy at all. Thai food should be spicy! Was driving around looking for a takeout place to order from. Many of the Chinese takeouts are actually closed because of the current situation. Fortunately, I drove across this place and saw it was open. The reviews on Yelp were encouraging so I decided to order take out. I got for my son his to go Pad See Ew with chicken protein, and for my wife and I, the Pad Woon Sen with chicken. Pad See Ew which is essentially sauteed wide noodles with black soy sauce, broccoli and chicken tasted awesome. The noodles are not clumped together and the flavor was spot on. The Pad Woon Sen is the glass noodle and even that, was delicious. I was a bit apprehensive on the portion and to my surprise, very hearty and abundant. It is worth what I paid for. I've ordered from Ma Kin a few times over the past few months but it has continued to go downhill with quality. I've always ordered the calamari appetizer but the last 2 times, they were always undercooked and chewy with the skin either burnt and falling off. Flavor of the skin is good but the chewy texture is not what calamari should be. The roti massaman is good and always has been good. I had the Thai fried rice with beef and it had very little flavor. The beef was overcooked and the dish literally had a quarter onion that was not cut or pulled apart and the center was uncooked. Wife had the pad thai with vegetables but it tasted like a "foot". Based on her description and the other dishes ordered this evening, i didn't bother to even try. The carrots in the dish were undercooked. Going to look for another thai restaurant as the quality appears to have declined over time. read more

I have ordered from time to time over the past few years, and the food has been so much better since a new group recently took over. We were passing in the area. And, placed an order the other night. It was incredibly disappointing! We ordered from here a few times before. The quality was not the same as before. Drunken noodle with beef: very tangy. Tasted more sweet and sour. Normally, it's more of the chili paste with a hint of sweetness. Chicken larb: Smaller portion with a lot of red onion garnishes and greens. Taste-wise, it was ok. Rad Na with chicken: gravy was all liquid soup consistency. This was specifically for our kids. Unfortunately, it was hard for them to eat. It appeared to be soup. It made the wide-noodles soggy since it was not made as a gravy base. Coconut Pudding: The mint leaves used as garnish overwhelm the dessert. It was not as enjoyable. We end up chucking the food out. It was just that bad. I contacted their management to give feedback. No one responded. It was not to get incentive or get comp for the meal. It's to let them know, they lost us as a customer. We never received food in that manner from this spot.
