Not a single regret! This is now one of my favorite Italian restaurants on Long Island. I researched nice restaurants in the Commack area and I came across this. My mom and I visited just as they started to open!! We sat down and I took a look at the place, it's small but really nice! I love the pictures hanging around the room. It was pretty quiet since we were the first customers of the day. And the service is great! Love the friendly staff! Now onto the food!! First there was bread and it was so addicting, but enough of that! We shared the Eggplant Rollatini... DELICIOUS! New favorite! The sauce tastes fresh like it's homemade! I also love how it's plated. Onto the entree! I ordered Penne Alla Vodka and I love it! Flavors are spot on! The Parmesan cheese made it even better!! My mom ordered the Greek salad! I am really impressed by how that's plated! I got a taste of the chicken, it's really good! We each got a side of our meals, I had the Italian style potatoes while she got sautéed broccoli! Both are great! But the potatoes are my favorite along with the Rollatini!! It reminds me of hash browns but even better! They're golden and seasoned really good! The dessert is probably the best part of the whole experience! The cheesecake looks amazing and I love how beautiful it's plated! Also the raspberries are HUGE!!! I thought they were strawberries for a second! Fresh and yummy!! After we paid, tipped and left, my mom asked if we can come back soon. It's now officially our "secret spot" whenever we have our special outing in the Commack area! I wish we can come back soon too!! Staff was so on top of timing and service. Food was delicious app was mussels in white wine-sooo great. The shri.p w veg was light and delish. The veal marsala was perfect withplenty of mushrooms. Attended a dinner party for 10. Calamari, Caesar salad very good. I had the chicken franchise which was very good. Around me folks had various foods like seafood platter, spaghetti etc not one of 10 had a bad meal! Just be aware it's very noisy!! read more

Dined in with 4 friends for an early(ish) dinner on Sunday. This is where my friend wanted to go for her birthday, so it's where we went. The bread that was served was...blah. Nothing special and very basic. It wasn't even warm. The bread is served with butter and seasoned olive oil to dip in. Nothing special. We started off with fried calamari and a reverse wedge salad to share. The fried calamari was tender and seasoned well. The reverse wedge salad was "reversed" because it had all the ingredients of a wedge salad, but instead of a wedge, it was chopped. Both appetizers were plentiful and enough for 5 people to share. For my entree I went with mussels marinara and a side of sautéed spinach. The mussels marinara was off the appetizer section of the menu, but definitely big enough for an entree. The marinara sauce was super flavorful as were the mussels. The sautéed spinach was good, but a little too salty. Other entrees that were ordered at the table included chicken Marsala, chicken francese, and the house special of the night, short ribs. My friend said that the Marsala was bland. The chicken francese was good and so were the short ribs. We got cannolis for dessert. Tasty, but tasted like every other cannoli I've ever had. Nothing made it stand out. Long Island is full of Italian restaurants, but MaBella is a cut above. Their food is consistently excellent. Since the pandemic, they've provided catering dinners for my family several times, all wonderful. Great baked clams, really good pastas. They have a way with chicken, too. My favorite dish is the Bella's Scarparella, chicken sauteed with sausage, potatoes and spicy vinegar peppers in a white wine sauce. Amazing. read more

My partner & I decided to try MaBella on a recent rainy night. The inside reminded me of an authentic, old fashioned Italian restaurant, cozy and with cloth tablecloths and napkins. Great first impression. Outstanding wait staff. They were attentive, but not overly so. Warm bread was brought to the table. Too many restaurants have stopped offering this, but MaBella still does. At one point, a woman came to our table to ask if we were enjoying our meal. Not sure if she was the owner. We assured her that we were. The food was delicious. My partner said the red sauce in the mussels appetizer was the best sauce he'd ever tasted. Our entrees were also wonderful. If you're looking for Italian comfort food in a nice atmosphere with great service at reasonable prices, you'll find it here. We will definitely return. read more

The thing crust pizza was my favorite. I would like to try something else from their menu but without a doubt i'll be ordering their pizza again and possibly their delicious salad. I just had my daughters bridal shower at MaBella. The food was delicious. We had the party package #3. The hot hors doerves were cooked perfectly and very generous. The main dishes were enjoyed by everyone. The occasion cake was from Copenhagen bakery so you know that was going to be good. Maria and Frank took great care of us. A very nice Italian restaurant hidden in the corner of a strip mall just before Jericho Tpke. Had read the reviews and decided to invite friends to meet us there to try their food. We had a rezzy for 8pm and our table was waiting for us on arrival. They have a nice bar as you enter which would be great for casual drinks and bar food. The very nice lady that greeted us turned us over to another sweet lady that was our server. We ordered drinks; Chopin Martini shaken up, The Mule, and 2 Chardonnays...all looked great and tasted better! For Appys we ordered Calamari with the Arriabiata sauce on the side...sauce was super with spicy green peppers. Our mains were 2 Chicken Scarps, Chicken Parm and an order of steamed mussels....Chicken parm was excellent with speghetti. Chicken Scarp was a tad dry with very small pieces of chicken on the bone served with great potatoes and onions and peppers. Overall a nice experience in a very comfortable venue that we would repeat in the future. read more

Had dinner with a friend Friday night and so glad we chose MaBella! It was the location of the old Mannino's and then another spot since then but I was happy to discover that an Italian joint took it's place and was eager to check it out. We arrived around 6 and the bar was full although the tables weren't. That sure did change-by the time we got our dinner there was a wait and when we left around 8 there were still 2 tables waiting to be seated. That should speak to the place's popularity. We were greeted warmly by who I assumed is the female owner (from previous reviews) and told we could sit wherever we wanted. The service was on point the entire time! Glasses of water were never empty and we never sat waiting for anything from beginning to end. We split the fried calamari and had two pasta dishes for entrees: rigatoni bolognese and risotto fungi* which they were very kind to recreate for me by replacing the risotto with penne and leaving out the pancetta. It was delicious! For dessert we split the chocolate lava cake which was to die for. Beautiful dining experience from beginning to end. We left full and happy with our leftovers. An absolute gem hidden in Commack. This restaurant gets its DNA from J&J's which used to be the best Italian restaurant in Huntington Station where my family would take me as a kid. Frank and Maria run a tight ship. I've never had a bad experience with the food, everything is very good, and the service is always top notch. The bartender Sean is amazing, he was a popular bartender in Huntington Village (still is, I'd imagine.) Don't listen to the Karen's who said the food was "ok" and they "wouldn't go back". They have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. read more

Chicken francese - was mediocre at best along with chicken parm - the only good thing was I didn't have to make it myself - clams oreganata just ok they were kind of cold by time they arrived at the table . Caesar salad dry , not juicy as I was expecting . We went bc Emilio's seems to have been disappointing as of late , but I'd rather stick with the devil we know . Price point was fair - cappuccino was good s albeit luke warm - along with tartufo - was good. Located in the old Manninos's and the recently closed Cafe Mendoza, the thought of another Italian restaurant in the already saturated Commack area was not enticing. Was pleasantly surprised and glad that Mabella is open for business. Atmosphere is inviting and warm. Tin ceiling tiles, retro lighting and open seating make for a pleasant dining experience. The rice ball appetizer was a bit bland and could have used more sauce but the entrees made up for the the initial disappointment. Spaghetti with white clam sauce- always a good way to judge an Italian restaurant- was very good. The chicken Milanese was also delicious. To end the evening, definitely make sure to order the Tiramisu! It's made by the owner, Maria, and it was fabulous! The service was excellent too! read more

MaBella is an absolute GEM. I called to place a last minute catering order and they could not have been any nicer and accommodating. Frank took my order and customized anything I wanted. Maria called me back to confirm all the details and was so sweet. I gave them a very generous tip which she kept refusing because she said the delivery address was so close, but I insisted because they truly got me out of a bind for which I am so grateful. Disappointed. I ordered chicken milanese on Sunday and took it out. It was thin and so overcooked and dry. I could barely cut it with a knife. Also, I ordered meatballs. They were terrible. I think we finally found a local Italian Restaurant to get excited about. We went with a group of 6 and everyone thought the food and the service was exceptional. Everything was fresh and was cooked with love. Their entrees are pretty huge. Come hungry. They start you off with some fresh hot bread. For an appetizer, we ordered the baked clams. We were very happy to have actual clams with the right amount of bread crumbs. It was very tasty. This was a good sign of things to come. I ordered the monkfish entree. It was well balanced and cooked perfectly. The Zuppa di Pesce was an awesome dish. Lots of fresh fish in a great tasting pasta sauce. My wife loved her fusilli rabet dish. The kids enjoyed a pizza and mac n cheese. The staff was friendly and attentive. We never had to turn our heads to look for our waitress. We've eaten in most of the Italian restaurants in the area. None of them really stood out. Just safe, average Italian food. MaBella has been open less than a year and they already have blown past their competitors. read more
