So far so good! The fresh garlic and perfected flavor on that shrimp and garlic slice were to die for. If they made that as a regular pie with some red sauce id like to try it. So much potential there. Have T had their regular slice yet though. The meatballs were actually very good and better than the last four places ball I've tried.... . Some were more traditional (ziti slice, bbq chicken), but there were more creative ones (drunken grandma: a grandma slice with vodka sauce; MVP: marinara, vodka sauce, pesto). My siblings and I ordered 2 slices each and we were all pleased with our choices. The sauces were tasty, the mozzarella was plentiful, and the crust was crisp without being too crunchy). Tried this place 5-6 on different occasions the pizza is never consistent and I am speaking about a simple cheese pie. How can you get a basic cheese pie wrong? Some days it has been burnt and some days flat out chewy. There are much better places around that deserve local business and recognition. Cheese pizza was a 3 or 4 star. The combo pizza was pretty nasty. Canned mushrooms and they just threw every single ingredient they could find on it. Not very tasteful. We are new to the area and we were looking for a place that made delicious chicken parmigiana and penne Ala Vodka. We had been going to Calda for years but moved. Our plan was to try a place and if not great move on.. My daughter had said Mema's had good pizza so we figured we would start there. Well after placing our order over phone and having the Penne Ala Vodka as our pasta side in place of the regular pasta side, I believe our search is over. The Chicken Parmigiana was outstanding and the sauce was just as good. Next time we will order the Penne as a regular dish as the portion we got as a side was a little small. I've had the Mac & cheese which is like a meal in itself, the buffalo chicken, and today the General Taos. Everything is fresh and delicious! Some of the worst pizza I've had. We tried regular, sicilan and grandma. All the slices were bland; the dough, the sauce, and the cheese -- it's almost like there was no salt in any of it. I'm not looking for salty pizza, but the sauce just tasted like unseasoned tomatoes. The Sicilian slice had a ton of sauce on it too, and the cheese fell right off. Mema's Italian Kitchen is a pizzeria located on a strip mall with other small restaurants and shops. The pizza is NY style slices with a huge variety. I recommend the Margherita slice! Just the right amount of sauce and basil with a sprinkle of Parmesan, and large slices of mozzarella. My order came out in ten minutes and was fresh from the oven. The dining room is open to all guests that dine in casually. If you order an entire pie, I suggest calling in advance. They have a soda machine that has over 15 flavors. This is genius for people who have mistakenly not taken their mas with them for the day! Food: Plain Cheese Pie - LOVE! I always order a large pie, well done, light sauce. The sauce is slightly sweet but you can tell that they didn't add any sugar to it. Simplicity is key! Saw this pizza joint in my travels, and went to check it out on a later date. Though I haven't sampled much of their fare, what I have had is enough to bring me back for more of the same, and then some! Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots Sizes range from between small to medium sized pieces. Dough is light, not heavy like some knots out there. Sadly, they are light on flavor and do not have nearly enough of the garlic bite one might be looking for . . . Stuffed Spinach Roll While the dough was fine, the spinach stuffed within was not plentiful enough . . . but even more unfortunately it didn't have the garlic bite you crave in a sauteed spinach situation. Where is all the garlic being used, if not some for the garlic knots and the sauteed spinach?! Grilled Chicken and Broccoli with Wheat Crust Slice Decent and satisfying bite, though admittedly there could have been a bit more chicken and broccoli atop the thin, crispy whole wheat crust. Penne a la Vodka Slice Substantial slice, a meal unto itself! Unlike many pizza places, the penne a la vodka slice was good . . and while I have had vodka sauce that was better, this was good enough for me to order it again in either slice or dinner format on a subsequent visit! Cajun Chicken Slice This slice has a thick crust, and the toppings are piled equally as high. The toppings are in turn topped with ranch and cajun sauce. A LOT of it. Too much of it . . . Chicken pieces are large and plentiful, but I didn't get any hint of cajun spice flavor from them. Not bad overall, and very substantial, but inexplicably the taste doesn't live up to the name . . . Mac & Cheese Slice This slice alone was worth five stars! The rich, creamy, and most importantly TASTY and PRONOUNCED cheesy bite took me to a place of culinary bliss, from whence I did not want to return! This is exactly what you want in a GREAT mac & cheese, whether it be on a slab of thin, crisp and light pizza dough or not! On a subsequent visit I complimented them on their mac & cheese alone, dough or no, and the very nice girl behind the counter told me they do get a lot of kudos on it . . . of this I have no doubts! Mac & Cheese Dinner The same amazing mac & cheese as above, except without the crust, and with a sprinkling of bread crumbs on top! The takeout tin was full to capacity, and there is so much cheese going on here that you could add a little of your own pasta to it to spread out the deliciousness of this dish . . . or maybe add a bit of chicken . . . or beef . . . I wanted to love Mema's I really did, but I just like it. I loved the service, very friendly, happy smiling employees. I loved that they had a local beer on tap, Spider Bite, but I didn't love the atmosphere or the food. As for the atmosphere, I heard they just remodeled, maybe they're not finished??????
