I'll preface by saying I'm no expert in Filipino food, but I've had pretty tasty tocino, adobo, pancit and other specialties, and the lunch plate I tried here was sadly average. The food here is laid out in Chinese take-out style, so it may be fresh or may be cooked several hours in advance depending on your luck. I had a lunch plate which consists of two selections of Filipino items and two scoops of rice for around $8. I had the adobo and some basic vegetables. The adobo was just average, scooped in a Styrofoam cup and lacking a bit in flavor. The veggies were in a weird sauce similar to oyster sauce that left a weird aftertaste. I used to love eating breakfast here because the breakfast was delicious, but the customer service is the worst. One day I bought food to go and as I was eating it I noticed towards the bottom of my food was a FLY. I returned to the store and waited until all the customers left to tell the worker as a common courtesy. After telling the worker, she asked me if I wanted another serving and I responded with I just wanted my money back. She rudely grabbed the cash from the register to return to me and grabbed the food I had and went straight to the back. We've been regular customers since they were located in the previous area along Norwalk Blvd. the next building beside Seafood city supermarket. Mabuhay Kitchenette is a typical Fast Food restaurant like "point over here and point over there" which is good for dine in and TO GO orders. The quality of cooking is like Home made which gives you a perfect taste of what you are really looking for when it comes to Filipino Cuisine. It would truly satisfy your cravings. It's affordable and practical for those people who don't have much time to cook because of busy schedules. On our first visit I ordered Kare-Kare ( Pork Ox tail and stripes with vegetables in peanut sauce) , Beef Kaldereta (Beef in Tomato sauce) and Sinampalukang Manok (Chicken in tamarind soup based ) for take out orders all 3 medium size for only around $20 . Plenty amount of foods which we even have excess for the next day meal. On our second visit we ordered Bopis , Puso ng Saging ( Banana Blossom/ Heart) and Chicken Adobo. It's all tasty and delicious. When it comes to cleanliness they are "Grade A" inspected and graded by the Health department . The place is better than the old location because the area is wide . Plenty of parking space in front and at the back . Conducive for dine in as well. They have TV inside with Pinoy channel. I love this Filipino to go restaurant.Their Filipino menudo,dinuguan,Lechon kawali,pinatisang pork (similar to adobo) aside from their breakfast food of tapa,tocino,longanisa is delicious.Their food is fresh,not salty a lot of variety and this little restaurant has a lot of repeat customers.There's always people leaving with bags of takeout.Mabuhay and then Sawali Grill simply has delicious Filipino food that's similar to the takeout restaurants in the Philippines.They close early around 6 pm.So come early..around 5 theirs hardly any food left. read more

The lady that was there last friday sept. 4@1pm was so rude. First of all they don't have a sign that they close at 1pm. I stopped by and wants to get food to take to my trip. So im a health worker that usually works 7a-7p. I went to take some to go cause my gf requested it for breakfast after work. So while i was ordering 3 combos, on my 2nd combo i made a mistake on telling the staff of my order knowing she is the owner and suddenly she raised her voice on me saying "then what was your order?!" I just stood there quietly and apologetic telling her my orders. I have been a customer there since 2009 and ever since they changed management its been different and prices went up. Even simple styro container that one usually gets from to go stores, they dont hAve. Although same food still taste the same cause cook there never change. I always go here for food but today January 31 at 10am, the lady became so rude after I told her that she got the wrong order from me. She started slamming the cups in the sink and trash. We drove up the day after Christmas and they were closed! So hubby went a few days later for breakfast because he loves Filipino food. So this is solely based on hubby's review (he doesn't have a yelp). He said the beef tapa was super soggy (not crispy like it's supposed to be) and he said it all just tasted old and at 7:30am this shouldn't be the case. I have been in many Filipino restaurants the most thing that i always observed is the ratings from the Public Health Inspections, i recently noticed a Filipino restaurant in Artesia, i have never been there, in my curiosity i checked the Public Health Rating and its an "A", i went and tried to dine in and i noticed its so clean, the food presentation is clean, no flies, no food spills on the floor and on the food tray lines. Staff are very welcoming. There are varity of foods to choose but the most important for me is the food presentations, cleanli ness and food textures and palatable! I hate to give negative comments however, my 2nd time getting some soup here because it would be quick picking up dinner coming straight from work. 1st time I got Sinigang and didn't like it at all. You can taste the fish sauce they use called Petis(?). I thought maybe it's just this one. My 2nd time yesterday I picked up some Tinola and same thing...All you can taste is that fish sauce again.
