It's hard to find a Filipino restaurant that cooks like home made. I randomly was in Cerritos and craved Filipino food. I walked in I can smell Sinagang, it smelled like comfort. I tried the sinagang, Adobong Pinaprito sa Oyster Sauce and and Afritada. Yes it was better than my mom and mother in laws cooking. The price was reasonable for 2 item and given lots of meat. Meet tender, not dry, just perfect !

Kind of an odd experience. Mom and I got here just before 10AM and they were out of a lot of items we were interested in. I guess they open at 7AM and ran out of tocino and garlic fried rice. They only had tapa available which we passed on. We decided to give these guys a shot since we were already parked in the very front. We just got 1 item plates with steamed rice totalling about $16 including a mango drink. Mom got a fried fish and rice which was acceptable. My plate was the mung beans and veggies which I poured over my rice. OK dish and could have been better. Although we were eating the food in the dining area, the counterperson packed most of it as to-go and had the fish on a paper plate. The person we got at the counter was OK, not rude nor friendly. It sounds like we did not get the owner that other yelpers have encountered. This place appears to be very small biz (although other yelpers say they have some connection to Goldilocks on the other side of the plaza?) They have a bunch of styrofoam items stored on top of one of the tables. They have some Filipino artwork on the wall. There are lots of Filipino food options in the area so, this may be a pass on a second visit.

Delicious Filipino food at affordable prices.

Food is always fresh and not too salty. Service is like your mom and Papa restaurant very friendly. And every table and chair are comfortable. I go there every week.

Portions are getting smaller and prices are getting higher. Not good. You are driving people to look some place else.

We have held a baby shower party for our daughter here and she and her husband were happy with the turnout and the outcome then. With such wonderful experience here, we decided to celebrate my wife's milestone birthday with a buffet lunch here last Saturday, July 25. I really appreciate the great collaboration through easy communication and coordination with Jenny, their manager here. She helped me ensure all went well from preparation to execution of the celebration. Almost all our guests raved about how good and delicious the foods were, even their lemongrass iced tea, which a lot of them loved. The costs were fair and reasonable as well as some special accommodations and a couple of complimentary food items by the owner for us for hosting our party here at their Mekeni Restaurant. Thank You and Kudos to the staff for their friendly, consistent, reliable and great overall service their crew and staff rendered to us that day. The team was headed by Jenny, Vanessa and Robert! Aside from the fact that they could have had more electric fans there that day to regulate the uncomfortable warm temperature inside the restaurant that day, everything else went very well and wonderful. We highly recommend Mekeni Pinoy's Pride for dining in, picking up and also having parties to celebrate special events. Let us all continue supporting this Filipino restaurant which makes truly very good quality and delicious Filipino dishes at reasonable prices! Let's Come on down to Mekeni's!

TLDR: It's an overpriced buffet for $25 given the options. If they'd drop the price to..... $20,…read morebut more realistically $23, it MIGHT be worth it. I also feel that the place would be better if they included all the staple Filipino breakfast items (Pandesal, Corned beef, Filipino hotdog, bangus). The taste is arguably 4 stars, but the price point drops the overall feeling to 3-3.5 stars. Food Tocino - It's fine. It tasted kind of store bought, but I think it's good enough to get a few times. Longganisa - It's just.... bad. They were trying to go for the sweet style longganisa, but it missed the spot completely. Beef Tapa - Probably the best option from the viands made available. It's the right blend of saltiness and sourness. The beef also had a good texture. Garlic Rice - I'm glad they didn't mess up one of the cornerstones of Filipino breakfast. It could've been better, but the general quality of the food here was already low enough that it made this one of the better items. Pancit Guisado - Dry, filled with starch filled lobster balls, and could generally use some more stuff in it. I regret getting this and should've eaten more garlic rice Fried Shrimp - I'm glad it's easy to peel, but the shrimp itself is generally flavorless. Egg - I was scared that these mass produced eggs may not have had a runny yolk, but I'm glad to see enough liquid to praise it Tokwa't baboy - The bronze medalist of the meal. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pork belly is on the drier end, but it's small enough that it's not hard to eat. Nilaga - Good. Probably my favorite bite. It's seasoned well, the beef is soft, and there's a good amount of vegetables. Champorado - Decent. Shame that I didn't see the milk when I was getting it. Maybe they ran out, maybe they were refilling it as I was getting. Buko Pandan - Very good. Is it store bought? Maybe. It doesn't matter, still good. Service: You pay first before you're assigned a table. There are a lot of staff who are there to keep the tables clean and to mix the food every now and then to prevent the tray from drying out. Ambiance: Bright, spacious, and inviting. A very good place to have Sunday breakfast / brunch.

Parking and wait times on the weekends can get tricky so plan accordingly. Now for the food, Bicol Express: I do like my Bicol express pretty spicy but there was an unusual amount of chilis on this dish as you can see from the photo lol. Overall taste was still great. Adobo flakes: I LOVE dry adobo so this is a must have. Perfectly crispy, flaky, and garlicky. It's listed on the menu as an appetizer but I could eat this on its own with just white rice and be perfectly fine with not ordering anything else. Pork skewers: Slightly sweet and smoky pork bbq. Can't go wrong. Lumpiang shanghai: Another classic. Crunchy mini Filipino egg rolls pairs great with sweet and sour sauce. Sisig: Chopped pork on top of a hot and sizzling skillet. So good

We were lured by the photos of the yummy dishes displayed outside the restaurant on the metal stands. My girlfriend and I made a dinner plan a week later for after our dance class. We came on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. There were larger groups celebrating birthdays occupying jointed tables and chairs. We ordered the following dishes: *Lechon Kawali, crispy pork belly, my girlfriend loves it! Well seasoned and the crispy pork belly skin leaves a pleasant sensation upon chewing; *Bangus Sisig, milkfish sautéed; *Pancit palabok, rice noodles mixed with gravy; *Tortang Talong, eggplant omelet. All the dishes are tasty; however, I could not indulge after a few bites, they are too rich for me. Perhaps I should have eaten them with some plain white rice.

Each order had crispy skin and came with a side of sauce that was sweet and slightly sour. My favorite was definitely the Cebuchon. Such tender, savory meat! After driving +40 minutes, the skin still had a nice exterior. I do like how minimal their menu is - you can tell they are pork-oriented. I can definitely see myself visiting again or even ordering a catering tray for the holidays.

Weeknights are usually busy but last call for kitchen is 740 pm. The restaurant closes at 8 pm but Wednesday night they took diners even at 730 , as long as the orders were before cutoff time. Charged the panic miki bihon- egg noodles mixed with thin rice noodles, good amount of vegetables plus shrimp and half a boiled egg. It was served still hot and was satisfying. We got a seafood platter with grilled pork and chicken skewers (4each), grilled giant squid and mussels, plus a whole Bangus or milkfish stuffed with tomato and onion, wrapped in banana leaf and grilled. Spacious, able to accommodate larger groups. The entrance has bamboo furniture that everyone who grew up in Philippines would recognize. A mural depicting a small village has many iconic elements: sari sari store that carries pretty much everything you need,(before the age of convenience stores) and a pair dancing Tinikling. Very courteous waiter and waitress , both were attentive to all the patrons. We shared a halo halo - loved the crunchy pounded rice or pinipig, shaved ice, sweetened milk and various beans plus Leche flan. Would come back to try other combinations , not necessarily platters since they are quite a lot of food. We ended up taking home half of everything.

He took our order pretty quick, the food came out fresh & didn't take long, he checked on us a good amount of times, & we never felt rushed. * Food: we got lumpia, garlic rice, pork sisig, & adobo.
