She greeted us with such a warm smile and positive energy that immediately made us feel welcome. 8/21/26 We come here once a month for our high end meat fix. I noted they added the Wagyu burger to the digital ordering platform which is way better than how it was before. I barely ever saw the burgers come out since people camp out for it and take the entire tray. At least with it being brought out by your server, you can actually enjoy one if you'd like. We had a male server to start when soon he went on break. A lovely lady named Annie took over our table service. We were over crowding our grill with beef belly and even at the lowest heat, it was on . Annie quickly came to our rescue and cooked the meat properly without burning. She was so sweet and didn't want my kids to get burned. As she helped us cook the meat to perfect temp, she was providing education on the proper way to cook it, and when to remove it for the perfect texture and temp. She truly appreciated her knowledge and great service. She checked on us frequently throughout the meal and even told us the promo they were having to upgrade our membership. We passed on it since we don't dine often but as I am driving to chubby mart now, I have deep regrets we didn't upgrade lol I knew from how she presented herself she was just not an ordinary server. The special menu items are still very good and made with high-quality ingredients. However, the quality of the other meats has gone down significantly compared to what I have consistently experienced at several of their locations. Short rib is supposed to be a premium and tender cut of meat. I have ordered it at many restaurants, including this one, but this time it was extremely tough and almost impossible to chew. A huge shoutout to our server, Ryant, who provided truly top-tier service. Ryant noticed, proactively checked in to make sure we ordered correctly, and when some of us wanted to switch, he gladly swapped two of them out for other choices without any fuss. I usually frequent the flagship Rowland Heights location but this one is more conveniently close to home. I think I actually prefer this location now since it's more low key, but the quality and service is still on point. There are some changes to the menu that I don't remember from before: pre-fried chicken cartilage, durian and cheese sweet potato(!) dessert, and a new garnish, chopped serrano peppers. They were all equally delicious. The cartilage was great to snack on in between waiting for meats to finish grilling. I really like that the menu is still evolving and changing because it keeps things fresh. Our server Kevin was amazing. I feel like at most ayce bbqs I'm fighting to get grill changes or to correct missing items from my order, but Kevin was extremely proactive and made sure all our needs were met throughout the meal. I can't believe it's almost been a year since their soft opening! The quality of the food and the service remains impeccable as ever. The wait wasn't long at all when we went Tuesday dinner. We joined the waitlist when we were within range and our table was ready a lot sooner than we expected. Chae was our server this time and she was so friendly, attentive, and answered our questions. Because of her bright energy, it definitely improved our dining experience as well! We didn't have to wait too long for our orders to come out and all of it tasted so good. My go tos are the salmon carpaccio, beef tongue, and short plate. If I feel like I have room for it, the truffle fries are surprisingly bomb too! If I have any complaint it was that the seat/bench didn't feel stable and moved around, and the spacing was a little awkward because so many people had to walk by our table and the next one to get to the self-serve bar. Also one of the shrimps we ordered was not really fresh and mushy even before cooking. Other than that, its unfortunate their health inspection score from 8.13.2026 went down to a C for even basic safety protocol so I hope they have since remedied the issues and tightened up training standards for the staff. read more

This was our second time coming in two months Had Thomas as our server both times. We got two memberships last visit and went today for my friend's birthday. She somehow didn't see her birthday reward on her app and Thomas and his manager were able to get the free birthday meal still for her, plus the points from last visit in June. We really appreciated that! As always, meats were top tier. We got the Gold status again. Since we had two memberships, we got $13 off each person. Servers are fast and take the empty trays promptly. Kevin was our server, and the service was fine but fairly standard. There were several times when empty trays remained on our table for quite a while. The grill heat was also lowered without anyone telling us, which made cooking the meat more challenging. I'm perfectly fine if the staff thinks the temperature needs to be adjusted, but a quick heads-up would have been appreciated. Our favorite server is still Rainier, who took care of us during our first visit and set the bar very high. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always seemed to anticipate what we needed. So food stays fresh. I liked the Wagyu meats with marbling for a nice blend of protein and fats. Hand rolls were generously packed with yellowtail and salmon. I got so full. Lots of drinks options too, sodas, fruit juices, iced milk tea, hot tea. Got the hot tea twice, it's just lukewarm. For an extra fee you can get other drinks like ones with boba or alcohol. For desserts I got egg tarts you can grab them from the warmer. Plenty of quality fruit options which were really fresh sweet and juicy. Couple things felt off for me like the seating process and seat I was in. First on the waitlist, I checked in and was told it would be a longer wait and to keep checking the yelp app. As we walked back to our car, we immediately got a text that our table was ready. That part seemed a bit disorganized and could have been handled more smoothly. When Chubby Cattle Cerritos opened last year, they didn't initially have a waitlist and the wait was always hours long so it kind of fell off our radar for a while. They now have a Yelp waitlist, so some friends and I decided to finally try it out. Even after getting on the waitlist on the way to the restaurant, there was still about a 20 minute wait once we arrived. There are three tiers on the menu, silver ($58 regular, $50 member), gold ($78 regular, $65 member), and diamond ($88 regular, $75 member). The gold tier lets you choose two single servings from the special items menu. The diamond tier adds one extra special item and lets you order four single servings. We decided to go with the gold tier. One friend is a Chubby Club member, so two of us received the $13 discount. All ordering is done on a touch screen at the table, and then a server brings your selections to the table. Special items on the menu are cooked by your server, and you cook all other items yourself. After figuring out the ordering system and putting in our initial order, we headed to the self-serve area. The aisle next to our table was a little narrow. Many of the items in the self-serve area were empty or near empty, and honestly, nothing stood out as something I had to have. The drink station has soft drinks, two slushie flavors, two milk teas, and three different lemonades. Boba drinks and lattes are available for ordering on the touch screen at your table for an additional cost. I just had water. Some desserts are also available in the self-serve area. Things started out pretty well as our orders were initially coming out pretty quick. Many of the special items had a nice presentation in gold trays, and your server cooks those for you to perfection. The grill never got smoky which was nice. Some of the items we had included A5 Miyazaki Waygu short rib, A5 Miyazaki ribeye, A5 Wagyu Otoro thick cut, A5 brisket, A5 lean meat, Wagyu uni caviar nigiri, lobster roll, beef tongue, prime angus skirt steak, Margra lamb, black pepper Wagyu cubes, salmon & yellowtail carpaccio, shrimp tempura, and fried calamari. There is a 90 minute dining limit, and unfortunately we didn't receive any of our orders for the last 30 minutes. Our server checked with the kitchen a few times, but no further food was ever brought out. The special and regular menu items we had were all very good. However, the self serve station didn't impress, and no food for the last 30 minutes was a total buzz kill. At this price point, I expected a better experience. Chubby has great ratings, so I'm assuming we just came on an off night. Despite a disappointing first experience, I would try them again, or maybe visit another location. read more

This review is for the Cerritos location specifically. We'd already been to Rowland Heights, and honestly this one felt a little underwhelming by comparison. Two concrete gaps. The dipping sauce in the sauce bar here is limited to soy sauce, sriracha, and sesame oil, which felt bare after Rowland Heights. And there's no self-serve ice cream machine at this location. If that's part of why you go, know that going in. A note on the tiers, because the pricing isn't as straightforward as it looks. Gold and Diamond list a lot more options, but you only get to pick one (Gold) or two (Diamond) of them per guest. So it's not truly unlimited on those items the way the price suggests. We went with Silver at $60 per person and it was the right call -- you still get a solid meat selection, sashimi, nigiri, handrolls, and full access to the self-serve bar. My biggest tip: order your meat with no sauce. The marinated versions are very salty. The meat quality itself is great and doesn't need it. There's no limit on how many rounds you can order. The self-serve bar is well stocked otherwise -- rice, vegetables, fruit, drinks, desserts. It's just laid out in an awkward narrow alley that's tough to navigate. Service has been great at every Chubby Cattle we've been to, and this was no exception. Our server was quick, friendly, and attentive. I also really like ordering from the tablet instead of flagging someone down every round. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. The rice dispenser is the coolest thing I have ever seen. So many options of sides to choose from and desserts. We were completely in awe and overwhelmed in the best way! SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Maybe this is totally my fault, but I had NO IDEA the AYCE did NOT pertain to EVERYTHING you purchased in the tier you selected. We selected the GOLD (middle of the road) and when shown how to use the ordering system, realized the AYCE meats only pertained to the super thin cuts! YOU CAN ONLY GET ONE ROUND of the thick cut A5 Wagyu type. The drink selections seemed impressive at first, but it's really nothing more than "serve yourself" fountain drinks, which includes 2 types of milk tea. No big deal. The cold section is really disappointing. A few vegetables & fruits, Kim chi, which you can barely see due to the dry ice smoke that covers this section. Nothing to brag about. Sizzler does a better job! The dessert area is mixed with a curry & stew pots and an auto dispenser rice machine that plops a serving of rice in your bowl. There are also mini hamburgers, mashed sweet potato and corn cheese (there was absolutely NO CHEESE) in aluminum tins next to the Hokkaido cream cheese tarts & Portuguese Egg tarts in the warmer. We arrived at 4:45 pm on a Wednesday evening. NOT CROWDED AT ALL, but after we checked in,we were told it would be a 15-20 min wait (?).... The restaurant was literally empty! (see photo). We waited 15, then asked what the problem was. She told me they were waiting to change servers to the night shift crew, which should be seamless to the customer, shouldn't it? ... but the least you should do is tell us as it looks strange that we are made to wait when the restaurant is literally EMPTY! There is also a 90 min time limit and your server will remind you numerous times, WHICH MADE ME FEEL RUSHED. There were 4 of us, so the bill including tip WHICH WAS ADDED ON FOR US... came out to over $100 per person.
