I was tempted to check Manila Grille Anaheim via Uber Eats at one point but it was too late to order. So, I tried them real early this time and I wasn't disappointed-- The Longsilog was On-Point! I also tried the Pancit Malabon and the Menudo-- Yummy! Annnd the customer service was awesome too! Highly recommended Filipino food joint.

The music gave that sense of Filipino pride featuring various Filipino artists, like Bruno Mars, and even songs that we would typically sing karaoke to. The Milo Cold Brew was childhood with coffee that brought me back to my time in the Philippines when I would drink Milo on a daily basis. The Ube Tres Leches French Toast was the star of the table. Maybe my taste buds are off that day. So, I brought it home and recooked it with garlic. The last time I was there, I was disappointed with their pinakbet because they use bagoong alamang. Serving staff were a hit or miss, some were friendly and proactive, others were..... meh........Food itself was tasty, but for the price point (super expensive), I expected more protein. They were generous with the rice though. We ordered the crispy pata which seem to be the popular item for this place. It was super crispy with a light and crunchy skin which is a very hard process. It smelled delicious and can easily be cut into which is again, a difficult thing to do if done right. My only thing was that it looked big, but once it was cut it actually didn't have a lot of substance. The kare kare came in a big pot and the sauce was bountiful, but the protein (tendon, green beans, tripe) weren't a lot. Great presentation not a lot of substance. I want to support the place, but a bit disappointed.

The inside of the restaurant looks like it may have been recently updated ~ it's nicely arranged with a good amount of seating. Orders are placed at the counter and your food is brought to your table when it's ready. Since it was our first visit, the lady at the front was happy to answer our questions and make suggestions. Everything is freshly made to order, so be prepared for a short wait. Plates come with a cup of egg drop soup (which came up piping hot and was very flavorful) that is served to be enjoyed while you wait for your main dish. My foodie friend ordered a fish dish with the Java rice. I chose the beef rib plate and also went with the Java rice. Siopao was a new featured item and apparently they're known for their bibingka, so I added those as well because at this point, why not right? While my friend enjoyed her fish, she said it could have used more seasoning and she wished that she didn't have to pick out the bones. My beef ribs were SOOOO good!! And the Java rice had a really nice flavor that went perfectly with the ribs. Since we had so much food, we split the siopao (a steamed pork bun), and I can't even begin to describe the bibingka ~ it was rich and delicious, with a slightly sweet & creamy filling. I'd have to have another one to better describe its flavor more accurately. I'm so glad to have discovered Tony's! I can't wait to go back!!!

We have held a baby shower party for our daughter here and she and her husband were happy with the turnout and the outcome then. With such wonderful experience here, we decided to celebrate my wife's milestone birthday with a buffet lunch here last Saturday, July 25. I really appreciate the great collaboration through easy communication and coordination with Jenny, their manager here. She helped me ensure all went well from preparation to execution of the celebration. Almost all our guests raved about how good and delicious the foods were, even their lemongrass iced tea, which a lot of them loved. The costs were fair and reasonable as well as some special accommodations and a couple of complimentary food items by the owner for us for hosting our party here at their Mekeni Restaurant. Thank You and Kudos to the staff for their friendly, consistent, reliable and great overall service their crew and staff rendered to us that day. The team was headed by Jenny, Vanessa and Robert! Aside from the fact that they could have had more electric fans there that day to regulate the uncomfortable warm temperature inside the restaurant that day, everything else went very well and wonderful. We highly recommend Mekeni Pinoy's Pride for dining in, picking up and also having parties to celebrate special events. Let us all continue supporting this Filipino restaurant which makes truly very good quality and delicious Filipino dishes at reasonable prices! Let's Come on down to Mekeni's!

TLDR: It's an overpriced buffet for $25 given the options. If they'd drop the price to..... $20,…read morebut more realistically $23, it MIGHT be worth it. I also feel that the place would be better if they included all the staple Filipino breakfast items (Pandesal, Corned beef, Filipino hotdog, bangus). The taste is arguably 4 stars, but the price point drops the overall feeling to 3-3.5 stars. Food Tocino - It's fine. It tasted kind of store bought, but I think it's good enough to get a few times. Longganisa - It's just.... bad. They were trying to go for the sweet style longganisa, but it missed the spot completely. Beef Tapa - Probably the best option from the viands made available. It's the right blend of saltiness and sourness. The beef also had a good texture. Garlic Rice - I'm glad they didn't mess up one of the cornerstones of Filipino breakfast. It could've been better, but the general quality of the food here was already low enough that it made this one of the better items. Pancit Guisado - Dry, filled with starch filled lobster balls, and could generally use some more stuff in it. I regret getting this and should've eaten more garlic rice Fried Shrimp - I'm glad it's easy to peel, but the shrimp itself is generally flavorless. Egg - I was scared that these mass produced eggs may not have had a runny yolk, but I'm glad to see enough liquid to praise it Tokwa't baboy - The bronze medalist of the meal. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pork belly is on the drier end, but it's small enough that it's not hard to eat. Nilaga - Good. Probably my favorite bite. It's seasoned well, the beef is soft, and there's a good amount of vegetables. Champorado - Decent. Shame that I didn't see the milk when I was getting it. Maybe they ran out, maybe they were refilling it as I was getting. Buko Pandan - Very good. Is it store bought? Maybe. It doesn't matter, still good. Service: You pay first before you're assigned a table. There are a lot of staff who are there to keep the tables clean and to mix the food every now and then to prevent the tray from drying out. Ambiance: Bright, spacious, and inviting. A very good place to have Sunday breakfast / brunch.

It had a fairly simple set up of a few tables with the food warmed up and ready to be served at the front. You walk up to the counter and just let them know what you want cafeteria style. They don't really have a menu listing everything they serve, nor did they have labels on the glass so you know what to ask for. You just point and they put it in a container. You also seat yourself, but there were only a couple people there aside from me so there was no issue finding a seat. Their water can be found sitting in the front that you serve yourself through an open pot into a small cup. A little questionable as it's not covered or dispensed through a machine, it's just sitting there in an open area. But I'm still alive and healthy while writing this review so no issues there. After ordering the 40 lumpias to go, the lady at the front repeated it with wide-eyed emphasis and told me I'd have to wait. Of course I'd wait, lola! I'd wait all day for lumpia! This is also one of the reasons I ended up ordering for dine-in as well. In addition to the lumpia, I ordered pancit and what I believe to be ginataang baboy. Pancit consists of glass noodles with a mixture of veggies and chicken. It was a bit greasier than I expected, but tasted good. Ginataang baboy is pork stew that is cooked with coconut milk. The cream was rich and incredibly heavy, I would describe as one of the foods you can probably only have once in a while. They also served my dishes with a side of sinigang, and sinigang has always been good to me regardless of the restaurant. While it doesn't quite take the #1 spot on my list of Filipino restaurants, it's a place that I see myself coming back to consistently just to experience my childhood again through a bite, a munch, a slurp, or a sip.
