Yeah wish I could experience the friendly customer service that I've seen for other reviews. Everytime I have visited this location - the staff are rude. I'll ask questions and they act like I'm bothering them. Very snarky attitudes. It's hard to find my wife's favorite lipstick since it's popular in China but not in the US. I checked all over LA County, even the Santa Monica store, but MAC at The Shops at Santa Anita is the only place that carries #925 Marrakesh Mere. They always have it in stock! Hazel helped me last week. I was impressed with how personable, helpful and professional she was. She was so patient, and helped me swatch various shades of lipstick. She took feedback well, and with each swatch, got closer and closer to the flattering shades I was hoping for. She helped me pick the perfect shades for me: Brave, No Photos, and Left on Red. I came back the next day, and she helped me pick out a gorgeous dark pink lipstick: Popstar Pink. (Violet Vapor was also beautiful and striking.) The store did not have it in stock, so she ordered it to ship to my house at no extra shipping cost. It was a quick, easy process. This is the stand alone Mac store in the Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia. I was very disappointed because the customer service was awful. The lady that helped my daughter applied eye shadow on one eye. Then she said you have to pay if want a makeover you can pay. She gave us the eye shadows and said you can do the other eye. She gave us the brushes. That was ok but it was rude when she started cleaning around us . The mist to the disinfectant was sprayed too close to me. She made me uncomfortable. I inhaled the disinfectant it made my nose and throat feel weird. Then I can hear her numbing to her coworkers. This was Saturday around 7:50 pm May 16, 2026. I never had this awful experience. I felt bad for my teenage daughter because I wanted her to have a good time and to get her a fun colorful eyeshadow palette. I wished my daughter had a better experience. The lady was rude. There was no way. At the end I told her you are rude. Then I I told the rude worker I will be writing a review about you. Then she said you can put my name is Janel. The other coworker did not intervene to help out. He just looked and continued talking to her and continue cleaning. My daughter said wow mom that lady was rude. I told my two teenager sorry you guys went through that bad experience. I told my daughters that has never happened to me. I guess she was upset we did not buy a make up service. i didn't end up buying anything but the guy working while i was there was super kind and attentive! he gave me a lot of recommendations regarding application when i asked about their matte lipsticks since my lips tend to dry out while using them, and i was only interested in their 'caviar' shades which strictly only come in matte. i also saw that while i was browsing he was very patient and energetic with other customers as well :) great customer service! read more

MAC Cosmetics has always been my favorite makeup line. I have been loyal since I was in high school. I initially fell in love with MAC because of the variety of colors they offer. From foundations, powders, lipsticks to shadows. Another reason, their recycling program! 6 empty containers for either lipstick, lipglass or single shadow. I usually have a go to person at the MAC store but there has been changes and people move around. I always had nice people helping me with products and ringing me up. I will usually know what I want or need when I go into the store. It's always nice to go in person to see what's new. read more

Great place to get your make up from. There are several ladies that can assist you with your right foundation coloring as well as beautiful shades of Eyeshadow. I really love their lipsticks. So many shades to choose from. These ladies can teach you with new make up techniques as well as give you a mini makeover based on your skin tone. They do have alcohol spray in which you can spray on lipsticks before you try them on so you don't get other people's germs. Always be safe! She only used Yelp to look at reviews, but never knew how amazing it is to be in the know of the latest reviews, events, and community stuff. She was so amazed about how much stuff she was missing out on! Onto the make-up part and the reason I went into the MAC Cosmetics counter inside Nordstrom :) Since the theme of the event was 1920's, Lynda gave great suggestions on how to achieve that look. Went with a smokey eye and a bold lip. I was totally hesitant to go with the bold lip because I hate emphasizing my full lips, but the red lipstick was totally the way to go for the party. I'm super thankful that Lynda was able to squeeze me in because I didn't have an appointment. All of the ladies who work here are super friendly and were pretty cool about teaching customers tricks for applying make up. I saw one make-up artist who used a paper eye diagram and eyeshadow to show one lady how to achieve the eyeshadow look she wanted. Save your plastic make-up containers because when you bring back 6 of them, you get a free lipstick. If you've never had your make-up done by MAC, you should give them a try. She was so friendly, helpful, and spent a lot of time assisting me. Not for a second did I feel rushed or pressured to getting something. I recommend speaking with Maria for your cosmetic needs. It's not that big of a store but it has pretty much all the products online and lots of testers. You'll get greeted right away. They'll hold items for you while you browse. It had been a bad day for me, so when the make-up artist asked if I wanted to try on the eye shadow I was looking at, I was like SURE!! I needed some kind of lift and thought maybe a mini-make over would do the trick. It did. I had amazing service - such a huge contrast to the other counters in the Nordstrom. MAC put 'em all to shame and showed 'em how it was done. The girl that was helping me was really friendly, patient, and well informed about the product. She not only tried lots of combinations of colors, but explained everything step by step so that I could learn how to create the same effect. My eyes looked awesome... and as I just did my eyes again right now - they still look awesome. MAC products are really good quality. Nice colors. Fun time at the counter. I'll be back because on my budget, I can only get like two things a month :P read more

This review is for the new Mac store. Came here last Saturday with my friends, we were looking around and this nice woman went up to us to see if we needed help. We had such great customer service that my friend had called the store right away for the woman's name. (Yes, we forgot to ask before we left the store). Hopefully it's right but were told her name was MAi. Mai helped me pick out my first eyebrow pencil and concealer. She also helped my friend out with eyebrow pencil. Mai was awesome, she was willing to help us out and she seemed to know what she's doing. She also seemed to enjoy her job. I love Mac, I swear by them and have never had any issues whenever I booked to get my makeup done by an artist but this experience was not that. The girl was sweet and professional; asked me what I was wearing for this event and asked for the type of look I was going for. Perfect I thought. (She was new...newer...found out once my make up was done) I was not happy with my makeup at the end. Very amateur looking. Eyeshadow was not blended well, lipliner was everywhere, eyebrows were just filled, and winged liner look like Amy Winehouse did it. Maybe this artist just needs some more practice but I wish I would've have known her length of experience before I hand. I thought MAC hired experienced artists, or at least I thought since every time I've had my make up done it's come out perfect. Sorry I didn't take pictures because I didn't have time. I had to rush home, wiped off my face, do my makeup and drive to my bfs house all in 1.5 hours This was the most expensive mascara and eyelashes I've ever purchased....saying this because I paid for uninterrupted service and still had to redo my make up. I don't come here often but when I have I have not had the best experiences. The past 2 or 3 times now, all within about a month, I have come here looking for a specific product. The first time I came in, I asked for a particular blush. The girl looked at me and said in a nasty sort of stuck up tone, "I don't even know what you're talking about." Well, that didn't go well. The second time that I came I was looking for 2 different blush colors, one of them being the same one that I'd asked about in the previous visit. Again, the person who helped me, who was not the same person from the 1st visit, said that they've never heard of the name of that product and just told me that they probably didn't have it. Ummm, can't you check? Apparently she didn't want to. She looked for the other color that I'd asked about but I have a feeling that she did so only because she knew exactly which blush color I was referring to. On my 3rd visit I was lucky enough to talk to one of the managers. Well, if she wasn't a manager, at least she had the keys on her wrist that told me that she wasn't just a day-to-day part timer. Anyway, I asked her about the availability of a certain blush, the same one that I'd asked about my other few visits. She told me that she wasn't familiar with that particular color but that she'd look it up for me. HOLY CRAP! That's the most help that I received in all those visits. At least she wasn't lazy! I was fine with the fact that she didn't know or wasn't familiar with the shade. That's more than OK! And because she wasn't, she looked it up on her computer. She wasn't able to find it anywhere. That's OK too. At least she took her time and gave me the time of day. Thank you, finally! Anyway, one star for the ONLY person who helped me at all. I hope to update this review in the future and give a much better rating. . . but for now, I guess I'll continue my search at another MAC store where I know they will give me much better service and a much better attitude. read more

Just because I walk in looking like a total bum with a gigantic bag of McDonald's in my right hand does not mean I'm not a paying customer. I wandered around the MAC counter tonight with every intention to stock up on my eyeliner here (and by stocking up I mean several tubes at a time even though the prices have shot up to $19/tube), but I wasn't offered any assistance until I stood at the counter for 5 minutes. I already knew what I had wanted in mind, so all I wanted was someone to locate the damn eyeliners and ring me up; I wasn't there to have my foundation match or to find a nice shade of lipstick/eyeshadow as was every other women who was shopping around. I walked by PLENTY of employees on a Saturday night -- they looked at me and didn't bother smiling or saying a simple hello before they went on their way doing their own thing. It wasn't busy. When a rep finally approached me, she was less than helpful. Not only were the out of my favorite eyeliner, she couldn't tell me when they were getting more nor which Nordstrom/MAC would have them...she told me to try online because she "guesses" they were backordered. I walked away fuming. A friendly gesture goes a long way when it comes to customer service, especially when there's plenty of other makeup counters nearby. read more

This is may favorite MAC counter anywhere! All the girls are so lovely & sweet! Most of the time I know exactly what I want but whenever a special occasion comes up I always have one of the MAC ladies doll me up! Even though there is a minimum purchase to have your make-up done it's totally worth it not only do you gets tips and ideas you can use at home but they are really good about making you look as natural or as dramatic as you want. Also, I've never had a problem with any of the girls being rude or ignoring me. If it's really busy I may have to wait my turn but other than that I always get greeted and helped as soon as I walk up. read more

This review is for the MAC Counter inside the Nordstrom. I recently visited the MAC Counter after making an appointment to have my makeup done for an event I was attending. The appointment could not have gone better! My makeup artist was Vanessa Balarezo and she was AMAZING, AWESOME, PATIENT, EDUCATIONAL, ENGAGING and just all around FANTASTIC. I have never seen my makeup look that beautiful. She listened to me when I told her the look I was going for and didn't push me to try something I wasn't comfortable with. She was patient with me especially when it came to my eye makeup. She even showed me how to do some basic things at home. I left feeling beautiful and there is no price on that. Vanessa did a great job and provided exceptional customer service. She truly provided an amazing experience from start to finish. I highly recommend this counter - they are by far better than any other MAC counter I have visited. I drove all the way from Upland after receiving terrible customer service at the MAC counter at the Macy's in Rancho Cucamonga. One of my favorite places to shop...Every time I shop at this MAC counter the service is exceptional which keeps me coming back. I am always greeted right away, and even if they are busy, one of the ladies will make it a point to say "I'll be right with you" if they are helping other customers- leaving me time to play around and swatch different products. Even at peak times ( Saturdays & Sundays), I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for help. Anyways, all of the MAC girls here know their makeup and it shows. And while you can't go wrong with any of them, my favorite is Vanessa. She's awesome and always makes great recommendations. Monica is great too and has helped me quite a few times as well! I came in on a busy afternoon. although they were busy, THEY STILL MANAGED TO MEET + GREET ME! which is a high plus! I was assisted by a young college female, rockerish look! she was VERY genuinely nice! and down to earth! THE GIRLS HERE ARE GORGEOUS, & UNLIKE THE OTHER MAC STORES (Torrance @ nordstrom south bay galleria) they don't sneak behind someone's back and talk smack! then go up to you and say HI. than go to their fellow employee, giggle then look over. They actually want to help you. Whereas the other location listed above! I had to stare at some girls just for them to stop their 1 on 1 conversation about the night before and look at me, than continue on chit chatting!!! Rude! I've been here many times, in and out and on with my life. Generally the MAC booth in Nordstrom is pretty busy, but I'm generally served pretty quickly. This time I had to go and match my skin tone and get a new compact. After a few minutes, an open rep came up and asked me if I needed help. I told her what I had come for and she set to work matching my skin tone, showing me different options and having me try them in the mirror so I could see the differences. In five minutes, she helped me pick out a new color and had rung me out. Still in and out and on with my life. Pretty happy. read more

This is a MAC counter inside a Nordstroms. It is always crowded but the staff always tries to help each customer. It takes awhile for someone to help you, but it is defenitely worth the wait. The makeup artists are very good at what they do, as they helped me mix eyeshadows and showed me how to maximize my look. I love their eyeshadows and eyeliner...and I love how you can make your own eyeshadow palette. I am willingly to splurge here although many think the prices are too expensive. The makeup is very good quality and can stay on for a long time. I've gone to sleep with their eyeliner on before, and it stays the same way when I wake up in the morning. It doesn't smear very easily either....definitely worth my money. read more

Came here for the first time ever looking for a certain color of nail Polish. Wasn't greeted the moment I walked in (maybe cause I wasn't dressed up with makeup or look rich??) Walked around for a good long 5 mins searching for the Polish myself first and the whole time the employees ignore me even though most of them aren't busy and I actually now need help! They see me but they ignore me! I ended up having to ask help from a lady who was watching another customer try on makeup and she only answered that Mac doesn't carry Polish anymore and quickly turned her attention back to the other customer (even though they don't need her) I said 'thank you' and she only said 'mmhm' without looking at me. I'm not a full MAC convert yet, but I am obsessed with their lipsticks. The other day I came to this counter at Nordstroms. It was my first time at this location. I think I spent about 5 minutes alone looking at the lipsticks until I someone finally noticed me and asked if I needed help. What bothered me was that it wasn't a really busy day either, but it was pretty late in the day so maybe they were tired or something. I bought this beautiful lip color that I was raving about until I got home...played with it a little, and realized I already have the color! FAIL ON MY PART, yes. I felt like such a ditz. I went back today with my receipt and one of the ladies was so friendly and even suggested this color that I should exchange it for that would go well with my skin tone. I was very satisfied, and I was going to buy more but I held back. College budget, I told myself. So in conclusion, I guess the customer service is a hit or miss- judging by the other reviews too.
