Traveling with a kid means searching for Mac and cheese once in a while. Our hotel told us about this spot and it was a winner after a very long day. Small spot with lots of Mac and cheese options. The basic is just yummy and cheesy Mac and cheese. But you can use it to make wild creations. I opted for the crabby Mac. It was tasty but wish I was limp crab on it instead of shredded crab. The storefront itself was small and bright with a few seats along the window. Overall, good find with yummy and hearty Mac and cheese

I've been randomly following Mac Mart on Instagram for 10 years now so was delighted to learn that it was around the corner from our hotel during our most recent visit to Philly. After a long day, we stopped in and shared an order of their classic mac and cheese to hold us over before dinner. The cheese sauce was insanely rich and thick. It was really delicious. For me, this mac and cheese is more of a side, not a meal because of how decadent it is. My husband and I shared about 3/4 of the container before deciding that was enough. The inside is fast casual style and there are a couple of seat. The service was prompt and friendly.

I've been coming here since they opened. I'm from NYC but every time I'm in Philly I make sure to stop by them. I have brought students, professors, colleagues, family, and friends here. No one has ever been disappointed. It's a family business and they are amazing people. The Mac n cheese is great. I've tried a few different ones over the years and I've liked them all. Creamy, crunchy, and saucy. I also pre-order their fried Mac n cheese. I dream about it. You have to give it a try.

You'd really think this would be a Philly staple but AFAIK I've never heard any hoopla about Mac Mart. I'd passed it so many times that I decided I needed to try it. I'd certainly have tried a few more things on the menu and didn't give it a fair shake all of this time. It seems like the owner himself may have been working and he was friendly -- felt nice to support a small business in the hustle of such a hectic part of the city. One entree was more than enough for two to share!

This has been a favorite of mine for years now! I try and stop here a lot when I am in the city and it is good every single time! The have so many fun Mac options but the Truffle Shuffle is by far my favorite! The space is small but really fun! Your food is ready pretty quickly. I usually get mine to go but they also have a small counter to eat at! Make sure to stop here next time you are in the mood for Mac & Cheese, you will not regret it! I have not tried it but I saw yesterday that you can order trays for the holidays, which is such a fun idea for something to bring to a party or if you are hosting!

Got the jalapeno popper Mac and cheese and it had the strongest flavor of processed cheese which was definitely not the most appetizing. Every single Mac and cheese is made with the same base and then topped with different add ons to change up the flavor profile but I gotta say there was definitely next to no jalapeño flavors coming through. They churn out the food fast though so if you're in a hurry this is the spot to come to because I ordered, turned my back for ten seconds and then my food was ready. The man who gave me my order was helpful in telling me that the container it was in was microwaveable. Unfortunately the Mac and cheese reheated was pretty bad, probably because the crumbs atop got soggy and mixed into the Mac made it all super lumpy. Was definitely disappointed because I loved the sound of alot of the menu items for all their creativity but the execution was lacking.

I really enjoy ordering from this place! Staff is always friendly. I have sat in the restaurant and ate a couple times but there's very limited seating so I prefer to just eat it at home. Convenient location to eat in if you need a quick place to stop in Rittenhouse! My go to is usually the Chicken Bacon Ranch Mac but decided to try the Honey Siracha Chicken Mac and it did not disappoint!

I ordered the truffle Mac and cheese. Very tasty. Must have when you are downtown. The containers are microwave friendly if you don't finish your meal- the menu has creative Mac and cheese options. Owner Garrett is friendly and helpful when it comes to the menu. Seating is available, where you can people watch as you eat. Must try when you are in downtown Philly.

I really hate to leave a negative review on a small, local business, but I just don't think the food tastes good. Everything else is great - packaging, service, ambiance - but the cheese/roux has a very artificial, "goopy" quality to it. Unfortunately, I would not recommend.

I ordered this food through delivery to work and it came pretty quick and still warm with a hefty serving, but the quality of the food was with mixed results. The jalapeno popper mac and cheese didn't taste great, it wasn't bad per say, I did finish it because I paid for it, but it tasted off and the texture was mushy. The buffalo mac and cheese reheated well the next day and tasted better. The mac itself still had a sort of sticky-mushy texture to it, but the buffalo sauce was good and the chicken was fine as well.

The flight packaging is terrible and has been for months. The sad part is the owner knows and says it but hasn't attempted to fix it. She sits on social media attacking those who tell them privately they need to change it. Instead of spending time trying different packaging. The packaging doesn't label clearly what one is what, is in foil so not microwave safe. A lot of product sticks to the cupcake foil. The product is good but the owners attitude is terrible and efforts to fix issues are non existent while she tries to trash people on social media. I told her privately about the problem, she spends extensive time on social media but not respecting her customers or fixing problems! Lazy and arrogant! Lost a loyal customer! One that gave them an excellent review viewed by hundreds.

I saw on Philly.com that a new Mac and Cheese place was opening near my office so I had to try it out. The place is clean and cute but did not have much of a seating area so we had to take it to go. The layout is backwards. The line was out the door instead of streaming it thru the restaurant so I held the door for a few people (no choice) and I was the 4th person in line. Perhaps they can use one of those line leader things where it helps people stand in line in the store? The mac and cheese was GOOD/TASTY but it was warm. I'm not sure if it was because it was I had not choice but to take it to go or because it was just not hot enough. I'm thinking the latter. I have to say that adding the topping made the meal much tastier. The price was a bit much but the portion was enough for 2 meals... $11 for a bowl of mac and cheese. It's tasty but not an everyday lunch place especially since the $11 excluded a drink and a place to eat my meal. read more

The long awaited Mac Mart store front has finally arrived!! I've been waiting forever for this!! I'm the biggest fan of the Mac Mart truck, rated 5 stars by me every time. I would love to give this new store 5 stars also, but I'm docking a star for 2 reasons: 1) I paid $0.50 extra to add diced tomatoes in my Mac, but when I got back to my office and opened the container, there was no tomatoes inside. Bummer, I'm not going to walk back to the store after I've already returned to office from lunch break. 2) The prices are definitely higher than the truck, but I guess that's a given since a storefront has to pay more overhead costs. Just a bummer paying $10-$12 for lunch when there's a lot of cheaper options around all the office buildings. But, what is amazing about Mac Mart still holds true: some of the cheesiest, most tasty Mac in Philly! The taste remains the same, amazing! The options on the menu are SOOO much more than the food truck. They have everything from BBQ, to Pesto, to basil/tomato, and of course the classic Ranch. They even added a new favorite of mine: creamy CRAB DIP with OLD BAY Panko crunchies! Going back to my roots.. I friggin love Old Bay! Genious addition! I think the new store just needs to work out kinks of making sure they deliver the items printed on the tickets. Because unlike the truck where you can see your order immediately in an open-faced paper bowl, this is different in a Tupperware container with a closed lid. Would also be nice if they offered a "half" size portion for a cheaper price. But maybe that can be a new addition later ;) Overall, I friggin love Mac Mart! Glad to see the storefront has finally arrived :) read more

Plastic found in delivery -was too late to do anything since I ate it the next day. I got regular and did try - it's good but pleasure was sucked out of the experience since I kept thinking the shine of the melted cheese might be more plastic. Thumbs down. read more

I was in town on a work trip but needed to work through lunch in my hotel room before heading out to a meeting. I didn't have time going to a sit down restaurant so I found this place 1 block down the street from my hotel that seemed to be quick, easy, and with good reviews. Boy am I glad I tried. I got the Crabby Mac to go. Mac noodles were cooked el dente. It was cheesy goodness with a balanced crab flavor not overpowering. The potato chip panko crunch added that interesting crunchy texture to the dish. I was a happy camper after lunch going into my meeting. Great spot for a quick and casual grab-and-go delicious food. read more

I've been so excited to try Mac Mart and yesterday was finally the day! Both me and my friend got "Crabby Mac" and it is definitely a place worth trying. We came on a Monday night about 8:15pm, late considering they close at 9. The spot is fairly small with counter seating for about 8 people. The menu is displayed largely on the wall with many various options of mac; however, the base of each being the same. The Crabby Mac came with a crab mix on top with panko crumbs. I have to say it was good, but not great. The mac and cheese wasn't hot, only warm and I felt like the dish was missing something. I added some hot sauce to mine for a little kick. Overall, I definitely would try again. They have so many different options and you can make your own bowl, so the possibilities are endless. Xo read more

Very cute space and a really nice touch with the to-go containers and bags. Employees were also exceptionally nice and service was fast. That said, I was underwhelmed by the mac and cheese itself - I found the garlic panko topping to over power the entire dish. I tried to remove as much as I could but still couldn't get past that flavor. I was really hoping since this place was mac and cheese only, it would be THEE spot for it. I continue to prefer Parc and Dandelion for mac and cheese - both filling and priced well. read more

Coworker wanted to go here and I said I was done. Was hoping they would have buff chick Mac and cheese and they did! It was good not amazing. The buff chick was good, the sauces really worked, it wasn't too cheesy. I didn't like the breadcrumbs on top though. I don't know if that bowl of Mac cheese was worth the 10 bucks. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here or recommend it to anyone but nothing stood out as negative. Staff was nice. read more

Bought classic mac and cheese for my son. I'm not a big fan of mac and cheese. But he looks like enjoying his mac. So it supposed to be good. They have a lot of variations on the menus. But to buy mac and cheese for $ 8 actually is top much for me. However as long as my boy is happy! The place itself looks new and clean. read more

Was in town and wanted something to eat for dinner but not a big meal. Also it was Lent so was looking for something that would work. Found the perfect comfort food solution, MacMart. There are quite a few options to choose from but I just went for the basic mac & cheese. It was delicious. Reminded me of the crockpot version that I make at home. Very creamy and a good size portion. Just enough to fill you up, yet just shy of putting you in a food coma. The location was a super convenient two blocks from my Sonesta Hotel. Employees were very welcoming and nice. Will definitely be back when I need something quick. Not a ton of seating but enough counter seats and a few outside tables which people were enjoying. The only complaint and this is just personal preference is that they have Pepsi instead of Coke products. read more

I stumbled upon this place while wondering Philly. Who wouldn't want to build ur own Mac and cheese!!! The employee working was so kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is tetra and modern I love it! The prices are very reasonable .I decked out a macand cheese with Buffalo chicken fried onion and hot honey drizzle. My mouth is watering this is so good! Overall 10/10 experience I will be coming again on my next Philly visit! read more

I should have continued to walk past the bright neon lights. My girl friend was crazy enough to order 3 different kinds, after a day of bar crawl drinking. I, much more hesitant. The interior, and the staff are just as cold and bland as the mac itself. Tupperware is a no, especially at such a steep price. I don't care about taking containers home or that they're dishwasher safe. The noodles weren't cooked thoroughly, and an overall disappointment. Love this place. Went to school in philly and make a special trip back here every time I'm in town. Love there rotating menu items and their multitude of topping options. But best part about this place is there base Mac and cheese recipe. Anything you try here will be delicious! read more

Surprisingly good! From my experiences restaurant Mac n' Cheese, is usually meh. However this place brought great flavor and texture for what I ordered (In the Buff). Fresh ingredients for a counter service a restaurant. Not crowded even during dinner time. Will return next time in Philly and I definitely recommend trying if your in town. read more

The concept of the restaurant is awesome: Mac n cheese bowls on the go. but paying 15 something for one size mac and cheese is a rip off in my book. I ordered the Heart Stopper - flavor was great and the texture of the macaroni stayed intact during my 20 min walk home. its kind of amazing that the pasta was still firm after its sauced up, but that's probably the best part of this take out. my biggest beef is that i ordered a side of chopped steak and it came out in the same container (fine) but there was a very insignificant amount of meat that was added. for 5.25 additional to the 10 i ate the meal feeling jilted. I understand the price of beef went up during covid but this was just really pathetic. ill stick to making mac and cheese at home. read more

I've been dying to try this place for quite some time, but always managed to go when it was closed. FINALLY, my bf and I (traveling from NYC) was able to catch it open. He ordered the The Wit Mac (philly cheesesteak mac & cheese) and I ordered the Rittenhouse. Wow. From the panko potato chip topping to everything about both Macs were AMAZING. It was absolutely filling and the service was quite friendly. It was so good that we were craving it all weekend and tried to get some before our trip back, but unfortunately, the place is closed on Sunday's. Regardless, we can't wait to return on our next trip! read more

2/17/18 mac n hash is back for wknd Got all 3 options the plain, in the buff and the bacon ranch. Been wanting to try this for few years and maybe I overhyped it in my mind cos while the Mac was good as always the hash was just ok tho when I got it wasn't piping hot but still something worth trying and I know would make for a great drunk night snack. I love Mac and cheese and this Mac centric spot is definitely worth a visit any day of the week to carb up! read more

Second time trying Mac Mart and was disappointed again. For $10 macaroni and cheese this really is not worth going out to get. The noodles are always stuck to each other and the cheese almost tastes like plastic -- really lacking flavor. I tried the The Rittenhouse option all you could taste was the panko bread crumbs. read more

If you even remotely like macaroni covered in ooey gooey cheese and toppings, you have to go to Mac Mart. It is the manifestation of all of your mac and cheese dreams! They have so many different variations of this childhood classic. My personal favorite is In The Buff (their classic mac with buffalo chicken chunks, potato chip panko, and ranch). read more

Outdoor seating only currently. We ordered the In the buff Mac and cheese. It was very flavorful and tasty. It hit the spot and we wanted to try the other flavors once we were done. Too bad we were too full. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It does not take long to order at all. Would definitely recommend! read more

I have been walking past this place for months. Admittedly I had been avoiding it because I am a massive Mac and cheese fan and knew it sounded like a bad idea finding a new spot to feed my addiction. I was right. I never should have tried it. It was utterly amazing. I got the jalapeño Mac and cheese on the Texas toast and my word it almost knocked me out cold. Amazing. The macaroni noodles were perfect and their cheese blend is exceptional. I ordered the rittenhouse dish as well for later but who knows how long I'll hold off eating it, it was that good. Seriously such a mistake I made eating here because I'll be back far too much. Next time definitely trying their CBD infusions. Friendly staff to boot and I love their efforts at reducing waste with their Tupperware to go containers. I'd give more than five stars if I could. Epic. Thanks so much! read more

Am I the only person who dislikes this place? I went here a few times when I worked in the area because it's Mac and cheese! And i was sort of in disbelief that it would be bad. But, unfortunately, it's quite bad. The pasta is over cooked and the sauce is way overly heavy, even for Mac and cheese. It's basically like, pasta salad with overly sweet, poor quality toppings. And the whole vibe of the place is creepy to me -- it's like a lululemon is selling Mac and cheese. They also have a weird stigmatizing name for one of the dishes "heart attack Mac" -- it's not funny to be disrespectful to you customers, who would want to order a dish named that? Hard pass on this one. read more

I had been dreaming of going to Mac Mart for a little over a year and when I found out I was going to Philly I knew this had to be one of my stops. Mac n cheese is one of my all time favorite foods and I love kinds with variety and toppings. Mac mart did not disappoint all of my hopes and expectations. My friend and i each got one flavor and shared half of each so that we could try more than one option. We got the in the buff (buffalo chicken) and the cowgirl cup? I believe which was a bbq chicken with cornbread crumbs. I loved both of them but i think the bbq one was my favorite. I wish I could have spent all day there trying the whole menu. Not only were the toppings delicious, the base Mac n cheese was flavorful, creamy and cheesy. I will be back the next time I'm in philly to try more! read more

FYI: the Tupperware they serve the mac and cheese in is microwave and dishwasher safe!! TAKE IT HOME!!! WHAT WE GOT: crabby mac & chicken bacon ranch PROS: aight first of all, I gotta give a shout out to their Tupperware. Cute, tight seal, microwave, and dishwasher safe. That they let you take home!!! FREE TUPPERWARE Y'ALL. So the food is also a big win. Nicely seasoned, beautiful texture to the noodles and the crunchy toppings are a nice addition in flavor. The crabby mac's crab topping was delicious. It tasted pretty legit and didn't make the mac and cheese heavy at all. The chicken bacon ranch on the other hand was pretty hefty. Creamy and fatty and everything that comfort food is suppose to be. The portion size is just right in my opinion. I didn't feel super bloated after eating everything but it did sit a bit more after a while. CONS: I would say it's just a bit overpriced. Would I pay 7-9$ for mac and cheese every now and again? Sure. But it's definitely one of those "treat yoself" things. FIANCÉ'S CORNER: Even though the portion sizes are well sized, they only look small. They are filling though so you should be satisfied. My one gripe with the place is that a for a place that serves comfort food, the interior design has too much of a clean and cold feel to it. read more

I've seen their booth at the convention center a few times and decided to try their physical location. Was in the mood for Mac and cheese and tried the BBQ Bacon Bowl. As usual, it hits the spot. I'm glad I don't live close by, for the sake of my waistline. It's a little pricey for what you are getting, but the food is well worth it. It's fast casual style and they also offer delivery. read more

I really really wanted to love this place. It was highly recommended by a buddy who's also a total foodie. We ordered 8 items. Two people enjoyed enough to finish but the other 6 didn't even finish. I'll try it again someday just to see if we got them on an off day. read more

$12 for mac and cheese is pretty steep, especially considering that the serving size is maybe less than a pound. I had the "In the Buff," which is apparently the number one customer favorite here. The serving temperature was good, macaroni was a solid al dente texture, but the toppings were underwhelming. Additionally, for a 7 cheese mac, the flavor just is not there. The service is cold and unenthused. Layout is clean and no issues with seating. read more

What a fabulous idea for a restaurant! My family was traveling from VA to MA and back and specifically decided to visit Phila for this restaurant. It was so worth it! My daughter and I both ordered the Mac Flight (a sample of 6 mac & cheese variations). The samples/scoops were really large! There were 15+ options to choose from. All started with the base mac & cheese and the ingredient variations were all freshly and individually added. Absolutely delicious! My favorite...Heart Attack. read more

Let's start off by saying that I love, LOVE, Mac and cheese. Saying that, I have to say that the Mac and cheese here is so externally good, I got "The buff" and it was so creamy and cheesy that I was literally just hit with all the flavors on this. The price/quantity is very good. I think the most expensive one is about $12 and the amount is more than enough to share with someone else ( But what crazy person would ever share Mac and cheese? ) The store is very cute and although small with the outdoor seating is just so cute. The staff is super friendly and they're Sheryl temple is the best. And just the fact that they are environmentally conscious just gives them the extra point they didn't need at this point, you are actually able to take the container that they give you to re-use read more

I do love this place! This is THE spot for some hearty, delicious Mac and Cheese in the city. The variety is fun! They have endless options, so you are sure to find something you like. I've always only gotten the buffalo chicken and don't think I'll ever change. The serving may seem small at first, but trust me it is so rich you will not be able to finish...which is okay because it is just as good a little later as leftovers. The location on 18th is definitely small with no good seating options, so I recommend ordering out...they deliver :-) read more

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try the chicken at Bud and Marilyn's, but better late than never! They serve a LARGE 1/2 chicken. I started with the thigh. I was smitten by the first bite. I was told the chicken is soaked in a buttermilk brine for 24-48 hours - dipped in a buttermilk dredge - covered with their 'secret recipe' seasoned flour - and fried in a 'pressure fryer' that cooks the chicken in 12 minutes. It was perfectly fried - so crispy - the texture and seasoning of the exterior coating was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy - the thigh was the juiciest - I didn't get to try the drumstick as I was too full! I had the thigh and 1/2 the breast. The breast is my favorite and I savored each large delicious piece I broke apart. It's important to pick up the chicken and eat it by hand - I did cut mine in half for a picture - but didn't use a fork to eat it - you lose the 'panache'of the meal. I didn't use the hot sauce served with the chicken - I brought my own bottle of honey and poured it over the chicken and biscuits. It was heavenly! Which brings me to the Biscuits! The dish comes with 2 large fluffy buttermilk biscuits - they were golden brown on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside! They had such a rich, buttery flavor. I took several pieces of chicken and layered them on pieces of biscuit, drizzled with honey! It was truly a 5 star fried chicken and biscuit dinner!

I'm a new resident of Philadelphia and randomly stopped in just to see what the concept was. Two young, extremely friendly workers greeted me and educated me on the concept and most popular items. I went to their signature Mac n cheese with truffle oil. Simple but outstanding. Will definitely be back, but I most likely would not eat in the restaurant as it is a pretty stark environment. But the food and the staff make it worth going back. I hope this concept succeeds. read more

I miss going to food truck events and the night markets all over the city and they were there.
