This is one of the best places involving mac products that I have ever been to. If you have Mac products I highly recommend you come here first. My hard drive crashed on my Macbook Pro, which is infuriating since it's only 1 year old. My biggest mistake was not backing up my info. I took it to the so called genius bar and they said well it's toast we need to replace it, but they don't do data recovery; so they sent me to Melrose Mac, which is THE worse place I've been to. Melrose Mac said they couldn't do anything, and I had to pay $50 and wait a day and half for them to tell me that, yes they charge you to just look at it. Their suggestion was to send it somewhere else and it would cost me about $450 including a $100 non-refundable diagnostic at the other place and would take about 2 weeks. Needless to say I wasn't very happy, so I searched around the net and through Yelp I found Pro-LA I liked the reviews and called Ray. He told me he would look at it and tell me, I asked how much to run a diagnostic, he said no charge to take a look at it, he doesn't do that. Wow what a difference! I took the computer in and within half an hour he was able to tell me if he was going to be able to help me or not. He did recovered all my files and everything was done right away. As far as I am concerned I'm calling Ray for all my Mac needs from now on. Highly recommend you do the same. This place is definitely worth driving to! Since a trusted friend recommended Mac Pro LA to me I have purchased three Macs from them and have another extensively refurbished. Based off another's recommendation a couple of years ago I drove nearly 70 miles to purchase an iMac from them. Last year when my wife wanted to make the switch from Windows 8 to Mac we went back to purchase a MacBook Pro 15. When I was given a MacBook Pro 13 that someone had taken to the Apple Store to be repaired and was told it was not worth fixing I took it to Ray and got it fixed up and working great for a very reasonable charge. Yesterday I went back to purchase an iMac for my church to use for graphic design. Every single one of these computers has worked flawlessly and have exceeded our expectations both in price and performance. My Mac Pro dual core 2.66z would not boot up one day. Just a scary white screen and weird neon purple lines, I suspected I was having a video card issue. Having my machine not boot up on the first day of a fairly big freelance project with a brand new client was not how I wanted to begin the morning. I entered into panic mode, calling all my IT buddies and going thorough all the weird key command functions performed during startup. Nothing could revive the beast .... and then I spotted a flyer that I had found on my door literally a week before from MacProLA. Normally I through unsolicited flyers right into the near by recycling pail. But spending allot of time around computers I kept this one. I rang the number and spoke to Ray, he said to bring it down during business hours for a free diagnostic testing. I really can't believer how knowledgeable, down to earth and genuine Ray was with me. The problem was confirmed, I just needed a new video card, and nothing else. Ray suggested a few models and mentioned that I could probably go ahead and install it on my own; which I later did. I finished the project, client was happy and MacProLA charged me nothing for their time. They also and did not try to sell me on anything else, even offering me a loner machine. The whole experience was so positive that I felt bad not paying him. I looked all over the store for something to buy... there was nothing I really needed. Oh yeah, and they are getting more and more items in stock! Like a good mechanic, a computer repair technician is hard to find. Lucky for me I have a great mechanic in the Valley and a great computer repair guy here in Hollywood. The internal speakers and the mousepad on my very old MacBookPro (2012) gave up within days of one another; I suffered through with headphones and an external mouse (blech!) because I LOVE that this laptop has built in cd/dvd. We had a buggy Mac and due to budgetary concerns, deadlines and remote location of our production studio I called ahead to check on the availability on one of the Mac Pro they had online. When I inquired about its specifications I was left on hold and was never gotten back to after 5 minutes I hung up. I called a couple hours later and left a voicemail during their normal business hours. No call back. The following day I called again and asked about the Mac Pro and when they closed. I was told it was no longer available and they closed at 6pm. I wouldn't make it in time but I drove the 4 hours from Central California anyway and got lodging. Having limited options in farm country for computers Let alone an Apple you do what you have to do. MACPRO-LA appear to have deals online that are cheaper than eBay and local retailers in the Los Angeles area. I arrived shortly after opening and asked if they had other 12 core 2012 models. Of course at $600+! But they have a really nice cheap Mac Pro bin too! $2000+ than I had planned on spending or was in their online models. So... Lets look at the level up priced Mac Pro. I was looking at a 12 core online. Apples for apples - I thought - Late 2012 model 12 core but the clock speed it was running at is sketchy and he has OS Sierra on it. He hooks it up and I try to do an apple hardware test. Powered up, Pressed "D" at start = Nothing. Restarted command+D=nothing. Short of sacrificing a live chicken and sprinkling blood on the firewire ports nothing worked. He tried. I tried. Nothing. There was no way for me to check the system. He said it was the desirable original late 2012, 12 core. It was not. The CPU was running at a "non-apple" manufactured clock speed. The computer was so frankensteined it wouldn't perform a self test. Hungry and needing food we left. By the way there was no prices, no labels, no stickers, post-it notes on anything I looked at and the price seemed arbitrary when asked. Rational: Guy drives 220 miles to "see" a computer must have $$$. Well not really, we did have $, and we went elsewhere and found better deal after some searching less than a mile away from this shop. Everybody has a bad day in customer service and this was theirs. However the sales "strategy" was not appreciated by myself at all. I haven't fished in 20 years but I still know what bait smells like. read more

Ray and his team are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to all Mac products. I brought my late 2014 27' iMac in for repair because it was shutting off randomly. Ray was very helpful in explaining that the power supply needed to be replaced and even offered to replace my fusion drive with an SSD. I was contemplating switching the drive out anyway, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to do so. I brought in both parts, and he was more than willing to accommodate me and my computer. Ray is an incredibly enjoyable, funny human being. One of those tech guys you don't have to be a tech guy to appreciate. Didn't even charge me to run the diagnostic of the laptop he was fixing. He could have very easily fixed it and made himself $500, but instead he advised me to let the thing go. He also offered substantial discounts for multiple services done at once. MacPro is great. They checked out my MacBook Pro for free and told me it was a moderately inexpensive fix. I asked if I could take it and get a second opinion and they were very nice about it, with Ray even warning me that other shops might tell me it's a much more expensive problem. He was right. I called Mac 911 in Santa Monica and was quoted a cheaper price on the repair, so I drove (in traffic) out to take my computer in.... And it was $90 for them to even look at the computer. I eventually told the guy what MacPro said the problem was and he humphed and hawed, said that couldn't possibly be the problem, and listed a few much more expensive possibilities. I took my computer back to MacPro. They repaired my computer and were about $500 cheaper than if the Apple Store had made the same repair. Thanks guys! read more

If I could give them ten stars I would! I was having trouble with my MacBook Pro and I did what any novice idiot would do, took it to the Apple store. After three trips and confusing home work and AppleCare calls, they told me it was not salvageable and that I would need do you purchase a new computer. I dropped my computer off right before Macpro LA closed last night and I was able to pick in my fully functioning device that works like it's brand new this afternoon. All of these reviews are spot on. I called asking about a possible new laptop battery and upgrading my processor and Ray told me to come in and that it would be a 48 hour turnaround to do a free diagnostic check. When I stopped by, Ray was friendly, professional and booted my computer up on the spot just to see what he could see. He remarked that it seemed like it was in great shape and that he'd call me after he ran the diagnostics. He called me less than 24 hours later to say the battery tested fine and not to waste money on a new one. He told me the HD was in great shape and that the only thing he could really recommend was upgrading my RAM (I didn't know you cannot upgrade a MacBook Pro processor). He told me the two options and actually talked me OUT of the more expensive option. He said I didn't need it. He told me I didn't really need the smaller RAM upgrade either, but that it would make the computer operate a little faster. I asked him to install that and he told me it would be ready when they opened the next morning. I went by, paid and took it home. It's been working like a charm ever since. My MacBook Pro was not charging and I was pricing at other shops and MacPro-LA didn't charge me for a diagnostic on my computer. Took it there and they are extremely professional and quick. Absolutely amazing. My somewhat ancient Imac tabletop was acting up. I took it to my usual repair people who said they couldn't work on it because the machine was too old. Wow. I took my MacbookPro in to have some new RAM installed, as well as a new hard drive. He switched everything out for me, and then when we discovered that the new hard drive was defective, I ordered a new one. During the few days I left it, there was a battery mix-up and mine went missing. Ray replaced it with a brand new Apple battery, and then didn't even charge me for any of the memory installation! He literally lost money on our transaction, for the sake of service and good business. Right??? Yeah. We also discovered that I had a defective graphics card on a different MacbookPro(mid 2010) that Apple covers out of warranty within 3 years. Ray called to follow up and ask how everything went.
