One year ago I experienced the most incredible Mac 'n Cheese from a truck, the Mac Truck to be exact. I couldn't wait to taste it again. Seen it at the end of the day but they were out of almost everything. Went to the food truck festival in Bayonne and since I love mac and cheese, this had to be the first thing I try. I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. When they gave me the container, it was heavier than I anticipated. I knew it was going to be good. For $6, I got the small classic & unlimited toppings from bread crumbs, parmesan, sriracha, chipotle, and various sauces. The first time I was there, I ordered the large not realizing that there's a LOT of mac and cheese and couldn't even finish it! Note the price difference for small and large is only a $1. I forgot how I found out about the Mac Truck because the 1st time I went two weeks ago, the mac truck owner said he sold out, and the 2nd time I visited, he was not in the area. Today I finally got to visit the truck parked on 47th St between Park Ave and Madison Ave and there was no line. Lucky for me since it was 2:30 and the lunch hour is already over. The owner is really friendly and polite. He asked if I wanted breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and something else I can't remember on the mac & cheese and I took the parmesan cheese. I ordered a ginger ale soda can and he mentioned it was his last one, but gave it to me on the house. I don't know if that was a marketing ploy to get a new customer to come back, but it worked, because I would come back. However, I don't expect a free soda again, and I shouldn't. The mac and cheese is delicious. I tasted the cheese a lot. I thought ordering the large instead of small would be enough, but I was wrong. The large filled me up and a bit more. I probably will do a small next time. I will try the other flavors the next time I go such as buffalo chicken and pulled pork on my mac & cheese. I am not CRAZY about food trucks but when I saw this one I knew I had to try it. I got the plain (nothing plain about it) large with Toasted Crumbs and Spicy Mayo. Large was $8, small $6. All the additions are FREE. I have had ALOT of Mac n Cheese and this one was definitely up there for my favs. Its creamy and buttery-everything a mac n cheese should be.
