Had two major repairs done. Scheduled weeks in advance. Had to reschedule first repair as parts weren't in. No big deal. It happens, I guess. Appt for second repair they had to call and reschedule due to holiday. Oversight. First repair when picking up took an extremely long time to check out. Plus chk'ing in I had asked to look into an issue, which they ignored and did not address. Second appt I called 30 minutes prior to pickup so paperwork would be done. My request was not honored. And again the issue I had requested be addressed the first time was again not addressed, but bring it in and they would do it some other time. Not happening. 30 minutes to ck out is certainly not taking the customer's time into account, and ignoring my notification I was picking up to speed up ck out AND ignoring my instructions to address the same issue twice in addition to what I was scheduled for clearly states their customer service policy. I tried to get some routine work! I called told them all info on my car, just wanted an estimate for oil change, transmission, brake flush and fluid replace..my car has low mileage but...its 12 years old..fluid need replacing.. They claimed they need to see car themselves, and there 175, to give estimate if I decide fee is too high to get work done there. Unbelievable Took my car to Honda instead..they did great work and I knew what I would be paying in advance off going in for basic car maintenance! Honestly I was disgusted..I know what the owner Manuel says on maintenance intervals. they claim they cant give estimates till they see it.. Basic maintenance! read more

Having an older 2002 Honda CRV, I am bound to have some maintenance things come up at this point. I have grown weary of going in to a mechanic describing what is wrong, picking up the car with a huge bill and only to find that the problem (and sometime another one shortly) is still there. It is so refreshing to have recently found Mac Vitie's Auto. Recently, my car overheated on Friday at 4:45 PM while being Covid tested at the fairgrounds. I took my chances and drove the three minutes to the shop. Dave came out, assessed things and said they would get to it first thing on Monday. Luckily, it was just a disintegrated hose that was easily fixed. And as others have said, Jonathan who had recently joined the family business and is manning the front desk is just wonderful. Extremely disappointed in going here- waste of time and money. This place screams SCAM to me. Called in to make an appointment for an AC Recharge- they said okay and to bring it in. They said these key words, "If you need a recharge you more than likely have an AC Leak, so we need to test your system with dye." They did that and I got a call saying that they had to discharge my AC because they found a leak. They said I'd need a new AC Compressor which was totaled for $990 and was told, "If I brought it in to get the AC fixed they'll give me a discount." Yet they still charged me $170 for an AC Discharge due to it being the 'law'. What an absolute scam this was.... I took it to two different repair shops to get second opinions/test and my AC worked fine. I will never come back here and will always suggest people to do the same. Went to get my car and what seemed to be the owner/manager, came out from the back room with his pants & belt un-buckled- and shirt out/untucked. As if he just off the toilet but no decency to clean yourself up before talking to customers. I was recommended this place by friends- due to it because a family owned shop and being reliable locals. I reside in South Orange County (Mission Viejo, CA). My wife and daughter incurred a mechanical breakdown while en route to my daughters apartment proximal to the school in which she attends. The car was towed to McVittie auto repair facility. The proprietor, Jonathan, came on his day off, when the shop was closed and helped assess the situation. The car was fixed and ready by Tuesday and Jonathan went ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty by arranging for the car to be taken to a tire dealer as the RT. rear tire needed replacing. The tire was repaired and brought back to McVittie's. As a dad who is always concerned about our sons and daughters well-being, ESPECIALLY, when they're an 8-hour drive away, it's an understatement when I say I have peace of mind in knowing that my daughter is blessed with a mechanic who does first-rate mechanical repair, is honest, committed to excellence and ethical. I do not recommend this place for anything more than minor issues. They supposedly replaced my transmission but the same symptoms were happening afterwards and they didn't seem to believe me. Now less than two years later, another place in town (that I know is good), is telling me the transmission is failing!! I've hardly even driven it since these dudes supposedly replaced it. I think I was blindly following them because it's run by a father and son and my instinct is to believe they're honest. I don't like to question anyone's integrity but my experience was not good. The car never worked well and only because of Covid did I probably avoid an accident on the highway. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Literally ANYWHERE ELSE is going to be better than this scam of a mechanic. It's already hard to find a reliable mechanic that has good value for their work and this is not the place. My check engine light came on so I went to true value and had them read my engine code which was for an intake manifold (eek i know). So I decide to take it to a mechanic to have them do a more in depth diagnostic so I could understand what was going on in my car. I would have taken my car to Auto City but they're closed so unfortunately I made the mistake of calling Mac Vitie. I asked if they could do a diagnostic on my car and they said yes it'll be just a couple hours without my car. This seemed reasonable so I drop my car off and Uber home to wait for their call. This was 2:00PM. At 6:30 I'm like alright I need to go to work, but wait! I don't have my car and never got a call from them. So I try to call and be like hey I have to go to work where is my car and they're CLOSED. Yeah, they just closed up shop like they didn't have somebody's whole car there that I'm waiting on. I leave a voicemail to be like hey! Where is my car? And the next day I get a call back saying they mixed my number up and couldn't find it. So they lost my number, didn't bother putting in the effort to look at their recent call history, and just said f-it I'm going home even though they literally said just two hours. So I Uber back to the shop and when I get there bro really charges me almost $200 for a diagnostic that told me NOTHING. It's like they just YouTube how to work on cars.. embarrassing. This place is a joke and the employees are not normal. Go somewhere else. read more

My family and I had been going to Williams for at least 10 years once the business was sold the quality changed drastically. We were referred to Mac Vitie Auto Repair and within 3 hours we knew we had found our new go to place. I was hearing a funny noise in my car and had two other mechanics test drive it and they could not hear the noise within 20 min Mac Vitie's had taken it for a test drive and had the car up on the stand figuring out what the problem was. Turns out I wasn't crazy and within and hour or so they had figured out my wheel barring and axle needed to be replaced along with brakes and rotars. My car was in the shop for a couple of hours before discovering we had more issues than expected. They called multiple times to let me know what was going on and what needed to be fixed. The price was not outrageous and the work is honest and great quality. You can't find very many mechanics these days who check all the boxes! This place does! read more

Last year, they replaced my air conditioner on my 2005 Prius that stopped working due to a rock that kicked up and punctured it. It has worked excellent since. I had gone to other dealers for quotes, and Mac Vitie was the most reasonable. Also, Jonathan at the front desk is so professional. Last week, I got my spark plugs and water pump replaced. Toyota had been telling me I needed that replaced for over 10 years. My car was finally making a noise on start up, so I did some research online (I am no mechanic) and felt confident to bring it to Mac Vitie. Next to the price that Toyota charges, I got a great deal and my car sounds great now. I also like how the mechanic showed me the old parts that were replaced with new parts. They also sent a follow up text the next weekday to see how the service went. Thanks to the people at this shop, my car is driving much better. They are not only saving me money, but saving the environment, by keeping my hybrid on the road (instead of me having to buy a new car). I really am grateful to them. Since my great experience last year, I have referred friends and family and they thank me after they, too, have had good experiences with Mac Vitie. Finding a mechanic shop you can trust to do a good job at a reasonable price is near impossible in my opinion but I believe I have found it here. I'm used to doing everything myself and I know hard (for me) it would be to change a timing belt, water pump on a 6 cylinder Toyota. We have been taking our cars to MacVitie's for years. Dave is an extremely competent mechanic. He is also very honest. I recently brought in my son's car. The dealer where he had been taking his car had told him he needed new front brakes, various fluid changes, etc., estimated cost $1000. Dave did a full evaluation of the vehicle. The brakes were fine and none of the fluids needed replacement. All it needed was routine servicing. Recently Dave's son Jonathan has been running the front desk. He has been doing a great job setting up the service appointments, calling when our car is ready, etc. You can expect great customer service. read more

I was having car trouble today 1/11/2020. I wish I caught the young mans name but I forgot, when I first called to inquire about getting my car looked at today to assess the problem the young man was very nice and able to get me in. He checked everything out and resolved my problems quickly to get me back on the road and back home. Having an new infant and not prepared to stay out of town overnight since I'm not from the area I was hoping to get things figured out and fixed within the day and they did exactly that. The young man I spoke to was always nice each time I called to make sure my car made it there by tow truck. I highly recommend this auto repair shop! Very nice customer service and great prices! I will be moving out of state soon but if I ever come back to this side of California again I will definitely make the drive to come to this auto repair shop to get my vehicle serviced. Had a check engine light and brought it in. Luckily they found it was only a gas cap. They found the trouble quickly and with no fuss.

Disappointing. Under new ownership, the exceptional service that kept my business is no longer there. I recommended a friend to take his car there and I was shocked to hear they damaged an engine cover and denied causing it. Fortunately, my friend was wise enough to take photos of his engine compartment before they start to work on his car. They eventually corrected the problem but it took almost 4 weeks to make things right. read more

I had a bit of an emergency the other day and Mac Vitie Auto Repair came through in a big way. I woke up to find that my minor radiator leak had turned into a much bigger problem. I commute daily into Napa so this was a bit of a serious matter since I can't just sit on the car for a couple days.... I should point out that I noticed the severity of the problem on New Years Eve. So here I am calling all the repair shops I am familiar with (most didn't answer their phones) and I even tried the Toyota dealership (knowing that a fix by them would be pricey, but at this point I couldn't be picky) and they were booked solid and not open on the 1st. A manager at my office recommended Mac Vitie so I called them on the spot... THEY WERE OPEN... AND ANSWERING THE PHONE! So thrilled. Drove down there, had my car diagnosed (yep need a new radiator) and they said, depending if they could get the part today, the car could be done the same day! (Thank goodness otherwise I'd be taking a cab home). I dropped the car off around 9:30am, picked the car up around 2:30pm. Price was very reasonable especially considering they could have been closed like all the other shops in town. I will be taking my future business to them! read more
