I cannot fault Lopez Auto Service for offering such a niche need - a brake and lamp (or light) inspection. I am going through the salvage title process and one of the most frustrating parts is finding a place that can actually do the DMV approved light inspection. However, if I had known that even if all the lights on my car were functioning as required but the body damage to my car would cause it to not pass the inspection - I would have saved myself the $350 + tax and the 4.5 hours I spent waiting for the news today. While I will most likely be coming back here once the damage to the car is repaired, I will be disappointed to know I am now $700 in the hole. I truly think they could have done a kindness and looked at the car without running any tests and have said "You will not pass with that body damage" rather than to take more than the estimated amount of time to charge me $350 and tell me my car failed because of visible damage to the car. read more

I've brought so many cars here over the years and had so much work done that I've lost count. The one thing that has remained completely true throughout all the time has been honest reliable service and great pricing. The owner David is a great guy and definitely knows cars as do his mechanics, and if they ever make a mistake they are more than happy to fix it and they have great relationships around Napa where it comes to sourcing parts. They don't try to oversell you. And they provide a warranty and very clear printed receipts and invoices for every bit of work done, even oil changes. I've been coming to them for about 8 years and have never been let down... Probably the most reputable, honest mechanics have ever dealt with in my life. Allright, lets get a few things straight. I'm a dude and dudes want to go fast so i went and blew 7500 bux on a kenne bell blower and 6300 for a failed install of said blower. it lasted about 150 miles and punched 2 holes in the block. I could not find anyone who would even touch my beauty and that dont sit well with me. Queue David Lopez once again. Went down there and talked to David and he looked me dead in the eye and said, bring it down. I did so and oh my goodness. I dont want to cut this short but so many variables were involved in this and David called me this morning and said, its ready to go and he was right. My baby has a strong heart beat. David kept her on life support until we got a new heart and now she is flourshing. Here is the bottom line folks. If Dave and the team can make my baby come back to life, there is no stopping them. My husband went in to this shop last week so they can fix his AC from his truck because it wasn't blowing cold air. He was charged over 300 for the repair. As soon as he got the truck back and drove it home he noticed the AC was still blowing hot. He went back the next day to show the owner the issue wasn't resolved and all the owner said was sorry we did the work and dont know why its not blowing cold. My husband asked for a refund and he said nope! Since they repaired it. But he said cant you see it doesnt blow cold? He said yes but we can't refund you! Dont go here they dont stand behind their work! We are now short over 300 dollars and dont have cold AC. read more

Well, ignorance is bliss until you find out you were charged double for a job. My son took his car in to have the ignition coil replaced today. You'd think they would replace all 6 with spark plugs but when I got home and saw the repair order, they just replaced the 1 coil that was faulty. All of that for $400+. I'm not even going to argue. We were in a hurry and didn't ask all the right questions and got what we deserved when you trust a mechanic. Thought we had a gem in Napa but got screwed in the end. Very disappointed. read more

Ignore my original post. Had a transmission issue and Lopez rebuilt it. Still didn't work properly. Took it back twice and no satisfaction. Transmission finally failed completely on cross country trip. Had it repaired in Utah (works great now!) Lopez refused to compensate me for the costs incurred. Would not recommend Lopez for any auto service. read more

I'm in the auto business and have been bringing my cars to Lopez for years. David knows what he's doing and has never suggested that I fix things that aren't broken. Most of my cars need a smog so it's good to know Lopez is STAR certified in case my cars need repairs in order to pass. read more

Luckily, someone was nice enough to take a look and quickly gave my car the fix it needed in about 5 minutes - they saved my day! If I could give more stars I would. I had an issue with my car, something having to do with the tire rods. I took my car to the dealership to get it repaired, they told me what the problem was and that they needed to order the parts. Totally fine. After waiting for months they still were not able to get the parts, took my car to Lopez auto and they got the parts in 2 days and had my car running like new by the third day. Thief. My mother came to this place to have him replace a tire. When she came to pick the truck up, he told her she had a bunch of issues and went ahead and "fixed" them. He charged her $500 to "fix" things she didn't ask to get fixed. And he didn't even change the tire! She has other friends that have similar story's from this same place. David has been my "go to" mechanic for more than 3 years now. I find him friendly, fair and most importantly very knowledgeable in all things regarding cars. His prices are almost half what you would pay at the dealer. I currently take 3 vehicles to David Lopez for service and repair. A 1975 motor-home, a 2005 VW Golf Diesel, and a 1996 Toyota pick up truck. He has been really great with all of them. If you are looking for a mechanic in the Napa Valley, he is your man. read more

Overpriced at 100 hour and over books the hours. 40 minutes to change 4 plugs in a Honda civic and 40 minutes for fuel filter which is easily accessible in engine compartment. Stay away. read more

Very honest, reliable and affordable auto repair. I have run across quite a few auto repair shops in Napa and Sonoma that have charged me a lot and not done a very good job. One of them even said to fix things on my car that were not actually broken and after I got a second opinion-I found that out. Totally rude and unprofessional behavior at front desk. they cut corners at every turn and try to con you into buying the cars which they sell ILL repaired, for a quick buck they charged me 5 grand to work on the cylinder block of a V6 ford mustang (yes i know i should have gone with a V8 Charger or a ricer of a Honda but its what was given to me). they tried to sell me one of the illy repaired cars i said i know it was ill repaired because i saw duct tape holding most of the engine and had markings that looked like they pulled everything from a pick N pull. it took them 2 months to finally decide to give the car "repaired by their standards and not even 3 days later it blew out again. i took it to the dealership and they fixed it in 2 days. they said that they didnt fix it, they just re-built it from the same parts. (they charged me for new parts!) the dealership gave me some paperwork and i got a lawsuit in on them and they lost thankfully i got my 5 grand back but i don't trust this shop. i advise you to stay away. read more

For those of you who need proof that this business is legit please continue to read this post. Today I was driving to an appointment when the fuel pump on my truck went out in Napa. As I pulled into LAS at around 4pm, the owner's son offered to run a diagnostic and thought it was just the fuel filter. Once that was repaired we noticed that the fuel pump was the real problem. So here I am, an hour away from my home and it's now past 5pm. CLOSING TIME!!! But the owner and another worker decided to stay and finish the job CORRECTLY and after almost 4 hours of labor I drove away so completely satisfied that I am compelled to tell everyone to trust this place of business and judge for yourselves.
