Great Peruvian food! I love the green sauce it's full of layers of flavor, and just the right amount of spice. The chicken is super savory on the outside with that delicious thin skin. It goes perfectly with the green sauce. 9/10 Ceviche mixto is a lot of fish along with some shrimp and other seafood, vegetables for a filling dish. 8/10 Parihuela is a packed seafood soup served HOT with a light spicy broth and tons of flavor. We've come here over the years, and this time it did feel as if the quality of food improved. Starting with the canchita (deep fried corn kernels) you get before you order, the texture of the food does seem noticeably better than before. They were super crispy, whereas in the past a few of the kernels were break-your-teeth hard. We ordered the triple appetizer of ceviche, jalea (fried seafood) and papa a la huancaina (potatoes with boiled egg in a creamy yellow sauce). Flavors and textures were great, and my only complaint was that fish in the ceviche was quite chewy. I had the Desayuno Peruano (Peruvian breakfast) which turned out to be a lot bigger than it looked on the laminated card of specials. It was the size of 3 meals, so the $35 price was about right. It was lomo saltado, fresh pickled onions, a Peruvian tamale (choice of pork or chicken), chicharones and roasted sweet potato slices, all on a huge dish with multiple compartments. Portion sizes are generous so keep this in mind when ordering because you can easily end up with too much food and a larger than necessary bill. Be sure to start with a Peruvian beer like the Pilser Callao or a refreshing non alcoholic beverage like the Chicha Morada, which although chilled is great for a warm or cold day. We had the Chaufa de Pollo (Peruvian chicken fried rice) and the Caldo de Gallina (Peruvian chicken soup) and it's an understatement to say that the restaurant has made these two staples their own with the way the dishes fill you up both physically and mentally. This stuff is seriously good for the soul. Growing up in an Ecuadorian family, we always had a hearty bowl of chicken soup ready at a moment's notice in case relatives or friends stopped by. This restaurant's version takes me back to big family dinners and loudly slurping the broth as a kid until my mom told me to stop. Long story short - it really hit the spot. Earlier in the week I had made reservations for 8 people to have a birthday dinner at 6:00pm this past Sunday. After a few additional people were added, early in the afternoon on Sunday I called to change the reservation for 11 people. Making the reservation both times was way more complicated than it had to be. Things that went wrong was getting the time correct, getting the number of people correct, and getting my name correct... Off to a potentially bad start but in all honesty I was still hopeful. We arrived at 6:00pm on the dot. I told them about the reservation and they didn't have the table set-up. Then I explained to them several times that we have 11 people. We stand there and wait for 15 minutes as they kick out a family of 4 from their table then put together two tables for us. Honestly this should have been done earlier, wtf is the point of a reservation? When we were finally seated, we had to re-confirm that we had 11 people about 7 more times. It was so ridiculous I just wanted to scream in broken Spanish "Once Personas"!!!!! Legit this was all in all about a 45 minute ordeal... Then the place settings oh lord, some people got forks, some people got knives and there were a lucky few who got both a fork and knife... We have to ask several times for utensils. Asked several times for water... But on the bright side the sangria is pretty strong. FYI if you get the pitchers of sangria with no ice, they give you more sangria, but charge $4 more. Very reasonable, but probably should be communicated. The first pitchers of sangria, we had to pass along our own glasses to fill them. We also had to pass along our own glasses for water too. Yes nothing on the table was set. We ordered a crap ton of food and 4 pitchers of sangria. Food came out sporadically. Most of it was delicious except the salchipapas which was the worse I have ever had. Why you ask? Well the hot dogs were chicken and not deep fried, more like stir fried. Also the calamari was terrible, lots of breading and terrible sauce. All the meat was cooked perfectly, the chicken, the steak, so magnificently cooked to the right temp. And if you can make a flank steak mid-rare and tender man that is some skill. All in all the food is pretty good, but the service. Holy hell, there was legit no service. SO SO SO SO terrible. Well actually we mostly did everything ourselves... Other points that annoyed me, we had to keep asking for the food orders, wondering where they were. Our last chicken came out pretty much when we were ready to cut the cake. And they were so cheap with the green sauce wth. We had almost $400 worth of food, including 3 chickens and 11 people! How the hell are you going to bring me 2 little tiny sauce dishes of green sauce when I ask for more green sauce? Then when we had the cake, they did bring us one of the sparkler candles which was nice. But guess what? We got no plates, no knives, no forks for the cake. Ridiculous right? It's like these people don't know this is a restaurant and not their house. Oh and guess what? Yes I had to go walk up to the server to ask for the bill. What takes the cake is they tacked on a 20% service charge. I wanted to take the bill back and tell them I would pay 18% cause that's pretty standard, but in all honesty they deserved 0-10% tip. I'm so torn because most of the food is actually pretty good here, especially the chicken which is legit one of the most tender chicken I have had. Thought I would have found a local neighborhood place, this was very disappointing. The service was slow not too friendly but we had lots of friends (roaches) that kept us company. Overall the food was salty and beef was over cooked. We had finished our salty appetizers and was still waiting for water. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria but another table got there's first and they came in probably 20mins after us. They also tacked on 20% gratuity to our party of 5, glad I checked the receipt otherwise we would have double tipped for a bad experience. Loved it here!! The food was amazing! I stopped here with my sister for a "snack." And we ended up ordering a ton of food and loved everything! We ordered the veal appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Maca- it included chicken, salad and plantains (I ordered these instead of fries). And my sister ordered the ceviche which was delicious. We used to eat here once a month as a treat to ourselves since we live so close. Lately their food has been wayyyyy too salty. The last few times we ordered their lunch special delivered and it was too salty, we ordered dinner from uber eats (chaufa and tallarin) and again too salty. A friend raved about this restaurant for so long I had to check it out. I went with my boss for dinner around 6 PM on a Tuesday. It wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away. The decor was bright and lively and decorated with signs as it's soccer season. Our orders were taken relatively quick. We chatted as we waited for our food. The soccer game was on and at different points the news. Not too loud so we were able to have a conversation. I ordered the green spaghetti with steak and my boss the steak with rice, beans, plantains and French fries. All of the food was hot. The steak serving I received seemed on the smaller size and it was a little tough. The green sauce was great. We both pretty much finished our meals. We were asked if we wanted coffee and waited for about 15 minutes for it. Eventually we gave up on getting it and asked for the check. The service could have been more attentive by the waitress. Given that the restaurant wasn't crowded at all there was no reason for her not to be present more at our table. I would go back and give them another try. Not happy with the service. First off we ordered our food and the server decided to not write it down on paper... but memorize the entire order by memory alone. At first impressive that she could memorize an entire table of 8, we DID end up getting some of our order wrong from what we originally had ordered. We ordered well-done steak and got it wrong, what was given was too rare. It was taken back and it still was not cooked right the second time. It was then given to someone else in the table. The 2nd problem was that we ordered the chicha morada and what was given was sangria. A $20 dollars difference that we did NOT order, but it was already poured into our cups when we realized. We did not want to bother more so we had to order another chicha morada and we said just leave the cups we already had poured since it was already there. The issue was that because it was a mistake from the server, they should have given a discounted price or at least given the extra chicha as complimentary because we wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. We felt like the service was not good. And paid the bill unsatisfied, and top of that - they charge 20% gratuity, which I felt was not deserved. We have frequented this restaurant quite a bit. Food is delicious. However, yesterday we had an unfortunate situation. After being seated we were greeted with a roach. We quietly pointed it out and gave it to the server. No one acknowledged it or us which was odd. Once the bill came we noticed a discount... something no one asked for. I think it's important to acknowledge the customer and offer some sort of "I'm sorry" ...it goes a long way rather than a discount without having the balls to face the customer . Absolutely disgusting. If I could give this place a 0 rating I would. I ordered for delivery and it was my first time ever ordering from here. I spent over $100 and couldn't even enjoy it. I was picking the cabbage out from my salad so I can get into the lettuce. As I moved my salad onto my fork I noticed a baby roach at the bottom of my lettuce. I have never been more disgusted. I called maca to inform them and complain. The woman that answered the phone told me there was no manager available for the next 2 days so I wouldn't be able to speak to a manager until then. She also had no idea what a cockroach was. She asked me if I could explain.... She also couldn't give me a refund, she wanted me to order something else. As if I ever want to eat from them again. I called door dash to complain as well where they were able to refund me a lot faster than the restaurant. I waited for a manager to call me two days later and I never got a call. I had to call them to ask for an apology. When I called, the receptionist picked up and told me there was no manager in and that there was no need for them to call me anyways because door dash already refunded me. That was besides the point. I told her I found a roach in my food from their restaurant. The least that the restaurant could have done out of concern was give me a call to apologize. As soon as I mentioned that I could post pictures all over the internet is when I started getting an apology which was just complete bullshit.
