Considering that this is the second day operating I will give the place 3 . Parking is an issue because its on a major boulevard, I like the fact that you can walk in and feel that there is space to enjoy your meal not like in the neighboring Pio Pio which is a shoe box. Ok so a ceviche mixto a half a chicken a small jalea an avocado salad french fries and chorros ala chalaca( mussels topped off with a corn relish). The ceviche was good, the chicken needed salt but it was juicy, the jalea was good because it was not greasy, fries are fries, chorros I've had better.. Ricoto hot sauce was nicer than your fake peruvian hot sauces that alot of people attempt to claim fame on. Considering they are at grand opening status I'm sure that they will be doing well very soon once they find their rhythm I've eaten at a lot of peruvian places many good and bad have faith people... read more

Service was stupendous, the food was just Okay. The prices were fair for the area but not necessarily for the food. We love Peruvian food and have dined at many places. With that being said, we know what to expect, more or less. We ordered the Chicken Combo and substituted the regular rice with the Chaufa rice. The Chicken was a bit dry, which was a shame since that's what we looked forward to the most! The Shrimp Chaufa was really good, so good that we ordered a second Chaufa, ate half there and took the rest to-go. We also had their Sangria, which I highly recommend! Other than that, the Tostones (Green plantains) and Salchipapas were slightly smaller in portion than expected, but tasted good. At the end, we tried to use the Free Dessert offer vía Yelp. But unfortunately they said the Desserts that they would "honor" were all sold out and refused to give us any other dessert in its place. That's one thing that really turned us off. I was willing to pay for the price difference, if any, but the manager said No when the waiter tried asking him. I ended up ordering a Flan for us and paying for it full price myself. The Lomo Salgado here is so delicious I've finished the whole plate the two times I've been here!! The tenderness of the steak is perfect and even the fries with the green "hot" sauce is amazing. My husband is Peruvian so we always try and eat at the Peruvian restaurants when we travel and this time we were in NYC we made another trip to Queens just to eat here! We loved every bite. Unfortunately MACA did not hit the spot for my partner and my peruvian craving. We wanted a nice juicy pollo a la brasa with all the sides. We ordered MACA 4 ($34 whole chicken, tostones, avacado salad, salchipapa, and chaufa). We substituted maduros for tostones since we prefer maduros. The green sauce with fried corn is the first thing that came out. Green sauce (aji verde) is one of our favorite parts of eating peruvian. Unfortunately MACA's aji verde tasted like it had an entire packet of top ramen seasoning poured into it. On to the food that we actually ordered. The Maduros were not maduros, they were somewhere in between maduros and tostones. They had the taste and texture of what would happen if you try to prepare tostones (green plantains) as you would maduros. Not good. The chicken was small and lacked that succulent flavor that is so iconic with pollo a la brasa. The Avocado salad was ok, but the dressing was not to our tastes. The salchipapa came in a wrapped paper cone (like a hipster restaurant), unfortunately this had the side effect of making the fries soggy. Finally, the chaufa was the WORST part of the meal. It tasted like frozen vegetables stir fried with boxed (or instant) rice with soy sauce seasoning. I would not recommend MACA. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service. Small problem that after waiting more than 30 minutes they served all of the appetizers at the same time as the main courses. After telling the server and owner that this was bad and then seeing that it was very upsetting as we could not enjoy all the items, they offered nothing to apologize except a "I'm sorry". Not a easy hey a drink or dessert is on us, or anything of substance. Not to mention they even charged extra for the little chacitas that were always given for free. They did remove it from the bill after that little issue was pointed out. It's unfortunate as their food is good but this is not the first time the service was less than acceptable. I understand mistakes are made but you should do the right thing to show that you are truly sorry. A simple $6 ice cream on them would have gone a long way. So my wife & I live just blocks from MACA, but have never been. Our friends have been bugging us forever to go..telling us it's not to be missed. Let me state...the food ( or what we were served)...a solid 8/9...but the experience......no more than a 5. So when we walked in..we were greeted cordially..seated right away...were given menus...etc...everything was fine. Within a few minutes, the waitress came back for our order...2 sangrias....empanadas and cerviche for appetizers, and chicken and maduras for main course. The sangria was delicious...heavy on the alcohol..and we all ready decided, we'd have a second, as soon as we tasted how good it was. Then the empanadas came..one beef. one cheese. the beef one was honestly one of the finest empanadas I had ever had, and the smokey sauce that accompanied....just divine. Then came the cerviche. YUMMY. Incredibly fresh fish....some wonderful citrus...and some yummy corn at the bottom. This was turning into an amazing dinner. But then it all STOPPED....... No one came immediately to clean our plates off the table.... no one came by to see if we wanted to refill our empty sangria glasses ( and we wanted more)..and no one seemed to be in any hurry to check on our chicken and maduras. After 5, 10 minutes...possibly longer...I was getting annoyed, and the waitress caught on. She came over to see what was wrong. Long story short..our madiras had been sitting on the counter for over 10 min..and the chicken was never ever ordered. At this point..we looked at the waitress...told her we had no interest in the chicken anymore...but perhaps we'd finish with 2 more sangrias. Well guess what happened.....nothing. Like I said...they were done serving us for the night. No sangria came...so 5 min later..we asked for a check. The waitress THEN decided to ask us...." are you sure you dont want the chicken ? " But never asked us about the second sangria, that she never served. Not sure I will ever go back...and not sure I can even reccommend this placeto others...but it's a real shame...cause it was one of the most promising starts to a meal that I have had in a long time...I just don't think I have the patience to be ignored again read more

Great place. The flavors are amazing, I love getting the steak here with both the cheese sauce and the green sauce but I'm leaning more toward the green sauce. They give you a lot of noodles with the steak so the entire meal is very filling, I usually split it so I can eat their tasty empanadas. The ceviche is pretty good but they give you a sizable amount. I write this with a very heavy heart...... I went to MACA this past week by myself. Everything came out perfect as requested and the food was actually very good, which is why I'm so saddened to write this review..... When it was time to clear the table, the waiter cleared the empty dishes and placed them in the trolley under the window where the food comes out. This is where things get DISGUSTING.......... The ramekin of the green sauce that is automatically placed on the table with the corn (they place this upon seating) was placed on the COUNTER TO BE REUSED FOR ANOTHER TABLE!!!!!!!!!! Now, originally this may not appear to be a BIG DEAL, however because I was dining alone, i used the spoon that comes with the sauce and placed it in my MOUTH!! I called the waiter over and TOLD him that I had that spoon in my mouth. He told me 'oh don't worry, we throw that away....' When he proceeded to discard all the sauces on the counter, the other gentleman behind the counter said something to him in Spanish, where the waiter responded and THEY BOTH LOOKED AT ME. I don't wish to get anyone fired or in trouble. I didn't cause a scene. I paid my bill and left, however this has been bothering me all weekend.... and I simply CAN NOT let this be ignored. We are living in a world of diseases... Infectious mononucleosis aka MONO, HEPATITIS B, INFLUENZA, VIRAL MENINGITIS are amongst a few that are spread by SALIVA.......
