Food was not good. Do not recommend the wings or fries because they were both mushy and soggy. Although, the pretzel was about the only good thing. The service was decent. Nice waiter. The restaurant is not clean at ALL. Seems a bit outdated also. Things need to turn around soon or this restaurant will be in the sewer. I've always had mixed reviews about this place. The food is cheap and delicious but something always seems to go wrong every time I go. I've been several times because there's so many options and everything I've eaten was great, but there has been times when it's taken our waiter 20 minutes to greet my party at the table, there was a time it took almost 40 minutes because somehow our waitress didnt know we were seated there, and the food takes entirely too long to come out for a couple deli sandwiches. On a positive note, their Sunday $.39 boneless wings is an amazing deal and the wings are just as amazing. We decided to go here for a late lunch, or would that be an early dinner, and I knew what I wanted before I walked in the door! They are well known for their vast menu with many different sandwiches, but I decided to order the Bacon Burger Quesadilla. Our waitress, who was overseeing the bar, was very attentive and friendly. Came here with a group for their Sunday wing deal (pre-COVID). We got wings and milkshakes, and everything tasted as good as we expected (tasty but didn't blow us away). The food took a little while to come out, but that could've been because there were so many of us there. They have a large menu, and tons of flavor options for even just the wings. The price points are fair, but I think they have the best deals for the daily special, so be sure to check what that is. The atmosphere is casual and fun. He had the Mona Lisa sandwich, and felt off the next morning before he fell very ill that afternoon and through the next day (feverish, vomiting, bad stomach pain). He is still feeling horrible. One step into Macado's and you feel like you're in a different universe! Their unique decor definitely is different, but it's a good different! The restaurant itself is really big, so I don't think you'd have a hard time finding space for large parties. The food itself is average. They have SO MANY ITEMS on their menu. I've been here multiple times and have sampled different plates/entrees. My safe go-to appetizer would be the potato skins. They're really good for sharing and easing your hungry stomach! The wings are okay; I wish they had more sauces available. On my last visit, I had the KC Chicken Mac and Cheese. The chicken was pretty good, but the Mac and Cheese had a really watered down texture. It was a little too watered down for my tasting. My roommate and I came here when we were really hungry, so our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We ordered 10-piece traditional wings with bang bang and honey bbq sauce to share. (We also had the nicest waitress who patiently answered all of our questions and let us try the bang bang sauce before ordering.) My roommate ordered the Big Daddy with potato salad and a side of mac and cheese, and I ordered the Honeymooner with pasta salad. The wings came first, and they were HUGE--literally the biggest wings I had ever seen; I had not expected them to be so big. The honey bbq was a solid choice, but the bang bang wings with ranch were the BEST! We could not stop thinking about them several days after our meal. But since the wings were so big, I was actually completely full by the time I finished my 4th wing; I don't know what made them so filling, but I could not even touch my actual entree! My roommate couldn't either, so we unfortunately had to pack both of our sandwiches to go. She told me that the Big Daddy was absolutely delicious even hours after. We were with friends and we were splitting appetizers , but had I been alone , would have sent it back ( or thrown it in the garbage). That was a bad reuben. The corned beef was charred, there was no Thousand Island dressing, and they were very stingy with the sauerkraut. Also, I don't think my diet coke was actually a diet coke. From the wait times just to get drinks, service, and food- they should be ashamed. There was multiple families that was complaining around us, as we thought it could of been busy. What an excellent place !! My family and I were in Virginia dropping off our son at Virginia Tech and decided to have lunch at this wonderful restaurant. The chicken wings were big juicy and had a wonderful coating on them, breaded pickle spears were absolutely perfect, my daughters chicken quesadilla was large and full of chicken and delicious. My wife's fish tacos were exquisitely made and overflowing with goodness. Service was pleasant and quick -and I cannot express enough our satisfaction and shock that every single thing was perfectly made for this meal. Please go and enjoy! read more

1st off, I would love to give Macado's a higher review but I cant. The Good: I've been here multiple times. It's a great bar to watch a game or for a crowd. The two level restaurant has a lot of atmosphere with a car put on the 2nd level, Godzilla looking creature, and various other things to look at. The sandwich list can be intimidating but it's nice to have so many options plus you can make your own. My favorite is the Jackie Gleason (roast beef, bacon on everything bagel). Also, I went here one morning and mimosas are only 3 bucks. I think their bloody marys were $2.50. Check out the menu online because they have great daily deals! Also, their drinks are reasonable and who wanted want a beer served in the schooner glass?! The Bad: Last weekend, I came and had the chili. I had it before and it came with some chips, cheese and was served nice and piping hot. I didn't have the same experience this past time. It was just chili and was at best lukewarm. I should have asked for it to be reheated. The Ugly: The service one time was unbelievably bad. Not sure what the problem was but it was slow. So slow, that we somehow got our food before we got our drinks and it took a long time for our order to be taken. I love Macados! Their menu is so robust and you can have anything you want from the bar appetizers, pasta, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, etc! I love their burgers - they are huge and so worth it. I ALWAYS recommend getting a sandwich though. The cooks are incredible and always make sure the sandwiches are cooked to perfection and loaded up with ingredients. Make sure you get the homemade chips with a sandwich - they are the perfect addition. The bar staff is always so friendly and fun, able to recommend any drink you want. One of my staples from my college days, and a go-to place for lunch or a light dinner whenever I come back into town. I love the atmosphere, with all the random memorabilia scattered around- from old pictures to cars and costumes, sports gear and everything else they could somehow fit in. The service has always been good, and most importantly they offer sweet tea, which I struggle to get up here in DC. As for the food, I have never had a bad sandwich here. To Chris and the manager in charge of him on Oct 5, I know that you are a new server and I did my best to have patience with you. I recognized that you were running your tail off and you were trying, I will not make light of that, however, I was super frustrated with several things and hope that this will help you be a better server. 1. You said you would check to see if you had root beer, but wanted to take our drink order before you found out. Next time, say, let me check and then come right back. Then took the drink order, then realized it was only bottled. You came to our table 5 times to get the drink order right. Of which none were ever refilled. 2. We asked for 3 cups of nacho cheese, and fries, and then you brought 3 beer cheese. Honest mistake, it happened last time we were there too, which is why I was very clear we wanted nacho cheese, but when I let you know of the mistake, you brought ONE nacho cheese and all of them were listed on the check. Then, when I explained the mistake, yall put all 3 nacho cheeses on my check....we only got one, and the 3 nasty beer cheeses we never wanted in the first place. Also, never tell a customer, "YOU SAID" even if you think you know what they said. You fix it, talk crap to your coworkers in the back and move on. I know what I said and it was, NACHO... Not beer. 3. 7 people, 3 forks??? 4. We ordered a cheeseburger plain. You repeated it back, then came back to the table a while later to double check we wanted meat, cheese and bun... Yup, plain. It came out with mayo... Or I hope it was. Your explaination.... "I put plain, but sometimes ingredients just come on it." Like what....? 5. Every time we needed something it was at least 5 minutes. 6. When we got our final check we noticed 15% gratuity had been added. Sucks for you we usually tip 20% or more. Because we felt like you or your manager did it because we were "being difficult." We stopped a server to ask the policy for gratuity. She said we will add it to parties of 8 or more. There were 7 of us. You or your manager went against policy? I was pretty upset with how it all went down. In the end I was the "shitty customer" because you were ineffective at your job. I was the "bad customer" because I expected you to be trained properly. The manager on duty or trainer should have been monitoring you and your tables to ensure you were providing adequate service. When you came to them to get something taken off the check, the manager should have come to the table automatically to check in. Chris, management has failed us both. I love the variety of menu options and JUST learned about Bomb nights! They are on Thursdays at certain times (I believe it ends at 8pm). The Irish car bombs and Cherry bombs are delicious. I've only ever ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad and Oriental Chicken wrap (both times I was craving something sweet and teryaki-flavored). I've heard their sandwiches are delicious. I ordered a "supreme" lasagna for takeout. And there was noting supreme about it. The portion was so small, as shown in the image with fork for comparison. It literally had 2 slices of lasagna pasta. And at a whopping 10$, definitely not what I expected, especially with it being called "supreme". They're usually great for sandwiches, but never ordering takeout again if this the kind of effort that is going to be expected on any other items. Yup, it's a chain, but a super friendly one. There are dinosaurs and king kongs and all the funny stuff you see at the usual chain store. The waitress was really cool. She told us that the nachos were half price after a certain time. We got the nachos with everything on it. Literally, everything was on it! I also got a rare roast beef sandwhich was bacon on it... seriously, rare roast beef + bacon?!?!?! My dreams have finally come to fruition. The rare roast beef was the stand out star. Fun place! I always enjoy going to Macados because of the atmosphere, there are so many weird things in the restaurant to look at, as well as huge televisions. All of the booths are super private as well. Macados is always good for game day weekends as well because it is so big the wait isn't too bad and if there is there is always the options of going to the bar. However, the food is just alright. There are sooo many sandwich options, which is awesome and extremely overwhelming for an indecisive person like myself. But the sandwiches are mediocre. I usually get the "Crazy Chris Wrap," which is pretty good. Today, I tried the fried pickles which were a good deal and the batter was delicious(I pretty much will like any fried pickles I eat though). I also got the chili, which was not hot at all when I got it. It was the first time I almost sent my food back because I like my soups real hot when I eat them, but I was hungry. Long wait times and terrible service. It took 15 minutes to be seated and after being seated, our party waited at least an hour to get appetizers. And when the entrees did arrive, over an hour and a half since being seated, they were not correct. We spoke to the manager on duty and they acted like they didn't care. We asked to speak to the regional manager and were given their phone number. They did not respond to our phone message either. Will not return to this restaurant. read more
