One of my favorites restaurants to visit and enjoy eating an amazing assortment of quality foods at ones disposal is the Golden Coral. Not to mention their very dedicated staff who prepare the delicious food, service the customers by bringing them coffee or by refilling their cups with coffee and glasses with soft drinks, and by removing their empty plates to make room for some others with more freshly made food. But no matter how good and popular a restaurant may be, if it loses focus of the little things that make a big difference, it will not survive, and this is why requesting feedback is good, and following through on the feedback received is even better. I used to faithfully enjoy my weekend breakfasts at this establishment until one day when I was in a hurry to be somewhere at a certain time, I arrived early in the morning with the idea of having a freshly made omelet and after standing at the omelet station for a while with no luck, and asking who I thought was the manager for help locating the omelet cook, received a lukewarm answer. I gave up and went to get some scrambled eggs and bacon instead and found the eggs to be cold and the bacon to be soggy and not crunchy. And to top it off my server dumped the remaining amount of coffee of a coffee pot in a cup and brought this lukewarm coffee over to me. I was so disappointed that at the end of the day when I got home and had some time, I visited the feedback website listed on their receipt slip, and truthfully gave an account of what had happened and how disappointed I was. So much so, that I stopped going. For months I didn't return. Then today, in the middle of the Holiday Season, I decided to return, and once again try it out to see if some change had taken place. And what I saw was amazing. They had a new manager, dressed in uniform with a name tag on, walking around the front area of the restaurant, and making herself available for customers. I greeted her and ask for the omelet cook because I wanted to have an omelet made. She told me he was at the desert station helping them out and would come as soon as he notices that he was needed. I walk that way and as soon as he saw I needed him to make me an omelet, he immediately came my way and started preparing my omelet. It came out so perfect, that as he was walking away, I called him back and told him I had a holiday bonus I wanted to give him for his excellent service throughout the year. At that moment, you could tell by his watery eyes that he appreciated the gesture enmensely. And that he clearly understood the meaning of constructive criticism through example, and was graceful for it. Afterwards, I went to get some bacon to have with my omelet; and it was once again, crispy and hot, like bacon is supposed to be. I try not to rate chain restaurants but this one is needed. First of all, if you don't like your wife being hit on by male servers, I wouldn't go here. It's the same douche that does it to multiple women. Temu Rico suave is a creep. Now, on to the food, it's a chain so yea I get it, frozen food heated up by any means necessary. The steak use to be half way decent with some A-1 and a prayer but now it's bland shoe leather. No flaver to anything. Look, I'm from New Orleans, I get it, not many people up here like seasoning. But damn, the tap water is the most flavorful thing. You'll leave with a headache, diarrhea and the sudden urge to have a bar room brawl with disrespectful waiters. read more

I particularly love this restaurant as and management as its primary objective is to please each individual that walks through its doors. The food is prepared superbly--seasoned well, and delicious. The restaurant provides a comfortable atmosphere with regular attention given to cleanliness. There is always a tendency to overeat at this buffet! However, there is a need for more than one Golden Corral in the Roanoke Valley to alleviate the crowded condition at times. read more

The choice in food variety is low in comparison to other Golden Corrals. It was just not the same. The mashed potatoes were so thick and dry looking. The salad selection was scarce as well. The chicken had red in it. read more

We usually go to Golden Corral on the weekends as a treat to myself and my boyfriend. I look forward to the hug I get from the front cashier, Tayausha, she is so sweet and kind. I had an issue with the app 1 time and she explained it to me and resolved my issue. Usually the first person you see or meet in a restaurant sets the tone for the experience and whenever I see her beautiful smile it makes my day. We refer to her as our GC daughter. You need to hire more smiling faces like hers she gives excellent customer service and is 1 of the reasons we come back. read more

We haven't visited this location in a few years. I hadn't expected to return. It looks like management has made an effort to improve things since covid. The restaurant is located in a strip mall near many stores. The food items were varied. Hubby liked the meat station. I appreciated that the cooking staff didn't put ham in every single dish. There are enough meat choices that they don't need ham in vegetable dishes. The salad bar had lots of toppings. The dessert area included cakes, ice cream and fruit. Cotton candy was also available. Customer service, feeling welcome, great food & variety! We were on a church bus trip from Nashville TN to Boston & stopped off at Golden Corral for Dinner in Roanoke VA. There were 45 of us and we were met at the door by Venus! She went above & beyond to make us feel welcome! She made the trip worth coming!!! She is a perfect example of what customer service and hospitality is all about! The complete staff was very helpful and accommodating, but Venus was so happy and appreciative of us coming. We were there recently with a large group of middle schoolers. The staff was amazing!! They were very attentive to our group even though it was during the very busy lunchtime. They went out of their way to make sure our students had a good experience and we had everything we needed. They were so fun and engaging with our group!! They were the best!!! read more

Surprisingly good food for a decent price. I highly suggest the broccoli (haha weird thing to get at a buffet but make sure you eat your vegetables) and steak! The coleslaw and chicken salad are pretty good as well. Unfortunately, a lot of the customers do not wear their masks properly or at all. Mask wearing is not enforced and I don't believe they're social distancing tables either. There are no gloves for you to use while using the tongs to get food, so that was a bit alarming, but there is sanitizer. Just a word of warning for if you do go, make sure you are practicing safety even if others are not. Another weird thing was that we got looks from the other customers. I'm not sure if it's because of our ethnicity or something else, but that was uncomfortable. Overall 4 stars for food but 1 star for lack of enforcement/health safety during covid. read more

We stopped here with 45 middle schoolers (yes, middle schoolers) and I was bracing for impact...as soon as we walked in the doors we were WELCOMED with open arms and enthusiasm. Despite the horror stories over the years, I'd always been interested in trying Golden Corral, I'm glad we got to do this. ++ Ample parking. Plenty of tables. A handful of things that made me go back for more (bourbon chicken, fried chicken, seafood salad, fish). Decent salad bar. - - Chocolate fountain - looks good, but awful chocolate! The whole dessert section that, again, looked interesting but lacked any depth or flavour. Why's it so hard to find the buffet prices anywhere? I'm the end, it turns out to be $9.29 (M-F). We stopped here on a tour bus and I'll admit I was not too excited about it. When we entered everyone was very friendly and the food area was very clean. Venus, the hospitality manager made our evening. She is extremely friendly and has a great personality. I carried a group from Alabama - Goodyear Retirees, traveling via Diamond Tours on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 to Golden Corral, as we were traveling to Cape Cod. We were treated like family. This was not a group that the restaurant was expecting, we were already in the parking lot. We found it online and called to see if the restaurant would be able to accommodate a group of 34 as we were arriving. They immediately said "yes". It was an awesome time. Wow, we were treated like celebrities. Venus Harris met us and she was awesome. Not only was Venus awesome, but the food was fantastic. We have never had an experience such as this to be welcomed by a restaurant at the last minute with kindness and great hospitality. We were given a gift box of Chocolate chip cookies and cotton candy for our next couple days of traveling. That made us feel really special and welcomed to Golden Corral and Roanoke, VA. Went here for my Thanksgiving meal alone. Managers and people did a good job controlling the crowd and they were on top of refills and taking away plates. Turkey and ham were delicious, very moist. Yeast rolls very fresh and also delicious. Mashed potatoes, gravy, Mac and cheese, corn on the cob, stuffing - everything was great. What wasn't great was immediately getting home I began to have a tummy ache and was gassy. Then I sleep, waking up 5 times to throw up or use the restroom. I know it was Golden Corral because yesterday I only ate once - there. So thanks for the food poisoning. Plate was $18.xx for food and drink. Wish I could get my money back. When I informed the manager that several people were going up to the buffet without a mask and one man even stuck his head BELOW the glass right against the food! I don't know if there is much to say about Golden Corral except that it brings out the inner most gluttonous self out of me. Any location will do but I do like this Roanoke location. I've been to shady locations but the Roanoke one is typically clean and the service cordial. it's perhaps nothing best in class but the variety is good. All the southern favorites from collards to pulled pork plus the fried chicken here is pretty darn good. The steak is decent but they tend to cook it more thoroughly so I go medium rare here. They also have a saute seafood station which is nice. Couple this with fresh greens and I'm good to go. I normally tend to skip the dessert bar but lots of sweets if that's what you're into. My mom loves the fresh baked buns here. Our server this last outing, Alex, was such a treat. He brings such an enthusiasm that made eating here enjoyable. For a $10 meal with so much variety, Golden Corral is gluttonous fun. read more

Absolutely disgusting, how can people eat this garbage? Who cares about the quality of the food, as long as you get the most out of it! I went to this place (reluctantly, only because of a family outing), and not to my surprise, the food was abysmal. The steak tasted like the bottom of my shoe, the mashed potatoes had a peculiar odor to them, the vegetables were soggy, etc etc. As a whole, I do not recommend this place at all. While they take their fifth unnecessary trip to the fried chicken and taco bar. Blatantly skipping over the salad, even with the fattening dressing options. Awful restaurant. The food is positively disgusting. I can remember going here as a child and thinking it was great, but anyone with any sort of mature palette should stay away. It is general and bland, warmed over and shipped in. All you can smell is the body odor of the people you are pressed up against while you try to find a halfway clean spot on your table to put your forearm or hands.
