But the public deserves a warning to not waste their hard earned $$. The service from our server was so bad! (Yikes! Not wanting to be flinging that negative energy around, but it was so bad!) Service was impressively bad- party of 6. sat down at 7ish all was normal through the drink order. We waited a minimum of 35 minutes for drinks I know this because their was a count down on the tv for an nhl game that said 38 mins when we ordered and we got the drinks 2 minutes into the first period of the game alcoholic drinks that is- someone in my party ordered a sweet tea which didn't arrive until about 5 mins after the long wait. We had to get another server to get our server- I wish I had whomever this server was she seemed to be amazing at her job got through two full tables before we even got drinks, tables were sat 10 mins and 20 mins after we arrived. Honestly felt like our server hated us for existing. After we got our drinks we put in our food order which took ANOTHER 40 minutes. At one point the amazing server came over to apologize for our server. She ended up delivering our food to us. The wait between the first drink and the food was so long me and another member of our party had to get up and go to the bar to get any service and we were immediately served. I want to preface my party had multiple people including me who have worked as servers and at first we felt bad but by the end we felt disrespected. As the food arrived pretty much everyone's drinks were empty (besides me and the other who had to go to the bar), so another round. The 2nd round of drinks didn't arrive until the food was completely finished. The server proceeded to come up, blame the bartenders who had previously served me in under two minutes saying the ticket was put in 40 minutes ago and said we could cancel the drinks. we said yes please cancel them and they proceeded to say oh but they are coming out RIGHT NOW are you sure you want to cancel them and Acted like it was going to be a big hassle to take it off the checks. We were there for about 2 hours (conservatively) to get 2 rounds of drinks and an entree. as I've mentioned I've done the exact same job and get it but this service was so terrible I made a yelp account. Overall the server seemed like they couldn't have cared less about our table and just decided we should suffer. no manager anywhere in site the entire time. Also just want to mention my table was being EXTREMELY patient, we wanted to walkout multiple times. The worst part is the server didn't even give their name im assuming it was on the ticket and am kicking myself for not looking. If a manager is reading this, 5th of may 2026 table 3 in the corner when you walk in on the right by the garage doors at around 7 pm. server was around 5'10 had shoulder length hair a nose piercing and black nails. A great place for a late night meal or hanging with friends. It was clean and the waiter was attentive and allowed modifications to menu items. It didn't have as many kitschy items on display as other Macado's or Spanky's but there were some cool large figures of the Simpsons and the JMU Bulldog mascot, Duke. I always have such high hopes when I visit Macado's. I've visited the Harrisonburg and Winchester locations multiple time. Each and every time I am highly disappointed. The wait times are always outrageous. My husband, myself, and our son waited nearly 20 minutes after being seated before we saw our waiter, and another 20 before getting our drinks. Then another hour and a half for 3 very simple orders (salad, burger, wings) and we only received those when we pulled the bartender, who was also our waiter, away from the 2 patrons at the bar and reminded him we had placed and order. It still took an additional 15 minutes for him to bring our orders out. Over 3 hours in total from the time we walked in until we received our check (on a Tuesday evening in April) This type of service during Covid or during a dinner rush could be excused. But each time we have dined at Macado's their staff has been indifferent and the restaurant was practically empty. While the menu is expansive, they are regularly out of many items on their menu and the long wait times don't seem justified. We visited Macados in Harrisonburg VA for lunch today. Parking lot not that busy. Was seated within 10 minutes. Was told they were short on help, I understand most places are these days. The host and server were amazing! That's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars, otherwise it would be NO stars. Took 45-50 min to get meal. Ordered unsweetened tea, about halfway down the glass I noticed something dark in the bottom. I looked more closely and it was a fly. UGH! My lunch date ordered the Pastrami Reuben. There was a hint of 1000 Island dressing on the bread, there wasn't any sour kraut on it at all. we are so disappointed because we loved having meals at Macados. I hate that we can't find people to work that can take the stress off the ones that do. I'm sure if they weren't so rushed and overloaded things would be different. I do not recommend Macados! This was our second trip to this Macado's. Unfortunately think it will be our last. Both times service was poor. First trip I asked to see a manager and he gave me the excuse that thy were under staffed but I watched people come in and order food to go and get their food before we did. That trip it took an hour and a half to get our food. This trip the restaurant was basically empty we were seated 2 tables around us hadn't been cleared waitress came by and was very attentive until she got our order. Then we didn't see her again not to checknonnour drinks or anything. About 30 to 35 minutes later another waitress came by to tell us our food would be out in about 10 minutes but she didn't ask if we needed drink refills. Food came out about 20 minutes later and we finally got our drinks refilled. Food was good but we didn't see the waitress again until she brought our check then it took 10 minutes for her come back to get our payment. Oh in the almost 2 hours we were there the tables that were dirty when we came in were not cleared nor was any other tables that the people finished and left while we were there nor did they take any dirty dishes from our appetizer from our table, we had to pile them in the center of the table. read more

The Crazy Chris is a fancy, no-mess Buffalo wing wrap and a great twist on an old favorite. You can't go wrong with Buffalo and ranch. We also ordered Beer Battered Onion Rings, Chili Cheese Fries, Potato Salad and pickle spears. Everything was good, except the potato salad. It was a little sour and not what I was expecting. Signs are up to wear masks and I did not see hand sanitizer. The bar area had the windows open, for 'al fresco' dining. We sat in the air conditioned booth area under Bono's guitar and picture. We have been to the Blacksburg/Radford location before (years ago) but this was our first time here. I forgot how good it was! Jess, our bartender, was AWESOME! She was extremely attentive without being overbearing. My husband likes to try different beers/sours so he was asking Jess what they have on tap. She was very knowledgeable in their beers and gave my husband several beer samples, all of which he liked and ended up ordering. Their menu is overwhelmingly extensive so I asked Jess what she would recommend. She really likes The Titanic (basically a French dip) so I went with that. It was amazing. I really think the French bread made it so good - it was soft and fresh. The sandwich was huge and I could only eat half. My husband ordered the Boom Boom burger (jalapeño burger) and commented on how good it was and how fresh the bun was. We ended up hanging out for a while to watch sports and enjoy some drinks. We were excited to stop here for lunch on our long 9 hour drive; we've been a few times in the past and enjoyed it. This time was a disappointing experience. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and were beginning to think our order had been lost. Then when it did come out, one of our sandwiches was made incorrectly (on the wrong bread). We let the server know and asked her if it would take a long time to fix it, she said no. Thirty minutes later we still didn't have the other sandwich. The rest of us were finished with our food, and the waitress had not come back to even give us an update on the missing sandwich. When we finally went to find her and ask for the bill minus that sandwich, she said ok but then still hadn't brought the bill over 10 minutes later. We then asked a different waiter who made the situation worse because when we simply asked for the bill minus the sandwich (remember we are over an hour at this place and one person in our party hasn't eaten because she never got any food), he proceeded to say "she's not a bad waitress." I replied, that's fine but we didn't get food we ordered and she hasn't even come back over to update us. And his response was, "people make mistakes." Obviously, dude, people make mistakes, but it was an easy fix so just fix it! Stop making it worse by never bringing the food, never coming over to apologize, never checking on us, and then just trying to defend it when we are getting frustrated. The manager finally came over and while we appreciate that she offered a discount, we still never felt like they actually listened to us - we came in to order food, but someone in our party never got theirs and left hungry an hour and a half later. It's not often that I do this, but I'm leading with the service. They were slammed with about a 30-45 minute wait. Just like most places, they were understaffed by no fault of their own. Our server was phenomenal. She was very attentive and even though she had a ton of tables, we felt like we were her only one. We were a party of 9 with three kids. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a server's first choice. She was able to keep the drinks filled and communicated with us about the food. We were celebrating a birthday and brought a cake. Unfortunately we didn't bring a lighter or something to cut it with. McKenzie jumped right on it, brought a lighter and a very large knife to cut the cake. Everything we could have asked for in terms of service. Food wise, we got a range of things. I can only speak for myself. I ordered the Big Daddy and was very satisfied. It was a large portion (obviously, the name...duh) with steak and all of the toppings. Juicy and flavorful. The side order of fries were very good and plentiful. Our server came by after 10 minutes to get drink order and the 10 more minutes to bring waters. Appetizers were ordered. They came after about 35 minutes. I got the Carpetbagger which was a steak based sammy, with some macaroni salad and a pickle. It was pretty tasty stuff. It could've definitely had a little more steak, but what I had tasted good.
