Cheese board with no knife for slicing cheese or getting smaller pieces
    Mary F.

Awful Christmas dinner- definitely avoid if you can! Bizarre as soon as you walk in. The hostess is wearing ripped jeans for a holiday meal? Totally classless and that should have been our first red flag. We were seated at one of the bare tables with no decoration, silverware, plates, etc. We waited for about 10 minutes before someone finally greeted us to give us the drink menus. We never got any explanation for if we were clear to go to the buffet, so we flagged down a woman who seemed flustered and told us we could go. The food was average at best. The ribs were probably the most disappointing- I had a bite that I had to spit out because it was just an entire bite of fat- so so gross. My favorite dish was probably the salad with Brussels sprouts but when I mentioned that to my uncle he said that his portion was super bitter. There were a few tables cluttered with bins of utensils and napkins just out next to the coffee station. It seems like no effort was put into cleaning up or having a nice atmosphere. There was garbage on the carpets too. The only staff member who was upbeat or friendly or didn't seem totally out of it was the gentleman at the carving station. At the dessert station, the cheese board had little tongs but no knives to cut pieces off of the blocks of cheese. The dessert selection was limited, hadn't been refilled, and most of the dishes didn't have serving utensils, so people had to grab portions with their hands. Gross!! It's clear to see why you never hear about this place. I've lived ten minutes away for 30 years and never hear about anyone going here- now I know why.

View in the patio- ??! This is for my fancy party and we have to look at this -yikes

Hosted a private dinner here for 20 doctors and they never notified me that they were in the middle of renovations. It was so embarrassing for all of my guests. We had to tell them to stop drilling so we could hear ourselves. I suggested they offer a $25 gift certificate to each guest but was refused. The entire experience was awful and totally avoidable if they had AT ANY POINT contacted us to let us know of the inconvenience. Poor management! We opted for the patio and didn't realize we'd have a crappy view of the staff transportation food was about as good the management.

I had driven by this restaurant so many times and recently decided to give it a try with my partner. Our dishes were served really quickly as we were one of three tables. The server was attentive enough without being overbearing. The portion for the fettuccine was large and they were generous with the prawn. The cheesecake was slightly gritty so I would not recommend it. This restaurant has been operating for over 20 years so I would definitely recommend giving it a try for yourself.

On our way to the Stanford football game and we stopped here to eat. Waitress was super nice and professional and attentive. Why do restaurants serve "instant" potatoes with their meals. That's gross and unnecessary. Chicken was delicious and the Cobb salad had lots of protein and fresh crispy bacon.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

We tried to get here before the end of happy hour which is kinda early, at 5:30pm. Drinks are interesting and different, everything on the menu from the bites to drinks have a little Japanese fusion or influence going on. We pretty much tried every small plate on the menu. Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.

Just overall, the people who work here are not very nice. Right at the start, the host/manager ignores you as you are awkwardly waiting to tell them you have a reservation. We were seated in the bar area at some tables. The bar is impressive. It's filled to the ceiling with different bottles. We felt like we had to try a cocktail to start. Our bartender was great and even went off menu for some of our drinks. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Once we were seated we got some appetizers to get us started. We ordered chickpea panisse, French onion soup, goat cheese mousse, and the apple salad. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the chickpea panisse. It looked like fried tofu, but it was so delicately soft in the center. The aioli that came with it was great too. My second favorite was the goat cheese mousse. It was beautifully presented and a good balance of flavors. For main dishes, we got a variety of things. We got salmon, hanger steak, flat iron steak, and poulet roti. Everything was delicious. I think the flat iron steak was preferred over the hanger, but both were good. I thought the chicken was delicious. It seemed braised with a lot of flavor. It was a generous portion with a large salad. It was very well done. We also got a couple of sides of macaroni and cheese. Those didn't disappoint. They came in hot iron skillets and were hearty and delicious. For dessert we got the mousse au chocolat. The mousse with ice cream was a great combination. The dessert was well balanced. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was fun.

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse.
