I spent a couple weeks gathering all the components I've been eyeing and made the pilgrimage down to Micro Center (in Tustin) to take advantage of a great MOBO/Proc/RAM bundle. The last time I built a PC was in 2008 and at this point in my life, I just wanted an expert to help me get everything running and optimized. Gar was that expert. This guy knows his stuff and I couldn't be happier with my (first) experience at Helix. He runs the shop by himself and is clearly a lifelong PC enthusiast. It was really cool to see all his customers more 'aesthetic' builds that were in progress. I'm old so I wanted something with as little RGB as possible (haha). He even has a mini museum of PC components from decades past on display which really sent me down a VERY nerdy memory lane. He put together a 9800X3D / 5080 air cooled monster and everything runs perfectly. He optimized Win11 and walked me through everything he did when I picked up the machine. I would consider his shop a unicorn in 2026. Physical location. Passionate business owner who is offering top quality service in a niche industry. Fair prices.

I've generally been a fan of this brand over the years when the only other competitor was Circuit City, but now places such as online behemoth Amazon.com and national brands Costco, Target, and Walmart vied for the public's electronic entertainment money. This was my last place for research after I first checked online and then visited several brick-and-mortars. Whether I was exhausted, the selection seemed better, the service was helpful, and the prices were competitive (all of these were true), I ultimately landed here to fork over my money. From start to finish, was this the best buy I hoped for!? PURCHASE(S) Samsung 55" Class M8OH Series Mini LED 4K UHD Samsung Vision AI Smart Tizen TV 2026 ($599.99): A beautiful TV with nice black screen color, very good sound before the soundbar, and I loved Samsung products which I can also sync with my mobile phone. I only wished I bought the 65"; I mismeasured - oops! Rocketfish Tilting TV Wall Mount For Most 32"-90" TVs Black ($89.99): This was the least expensive standard option and seemed to be the right choice since the TV was going to be stationary. TV Basic Mounting 55" Or Smaller ($179.99): Honestly, I felt paying for this installation at about 30% of the TV cost was outrageous, but as I observed the two technicians, I don't think a friend and I could've done as good of a job or within the time it took them to do it - c'est la vie. Samsung B-Series HW-B650F 3.1 Ch DTS Virtual X Soundbar Black ($249.99): This provided a nice cinematic surround sound listening experience with a wireless subwoofer for more bass. I was skeptical about the extra expense, but I felt it has made a difference in sound quality. Insignia Rear/Bottom Soundbar Mount For Wall Mounted TVs Black ($24.99): A simple enough piece of hardware that cradled the soundbar underneath the TV for more volume. Soundbar Setup ($99.99): Might as well have a "professional" handle this, but it seemed easy enough when I watched it being installed. Home Delivery (COMP): Normally $99.99, I couldn't recall if it was waived as a holiday promotion, or because I spent a certain amount. Whatever the reason, I gladly accepted it! Best Buy Foundation Donation ($5.00): For the benefit of youths in underserved communities, I believed in supporting their educational and career goals. Electronic Waste Recycling Fee ($6.00): Who exactly got this money!? SERVICE I was approached by a male salesperson who calmly took the time to explain the differences between a few TVs I looked at, helped recommend the additional hardware (he sold me on the soundbar), and talked me through everything. On delivery/installation day, two friendly Geek Squad technicians arrived timely enough within the delivery window (the text updates were acting wonky), they courteously wore covers on their shoes as they rather easily and quickly unpackaged, installed, and tested everything, One offered a quick tutorial on the remotes of the TV and soundbar. They were done in about 45 minutes - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Located within the large outdoor Burbank Empire Center, there were plenty of spots shared among several other businesses - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A big-box high ceiling warehouse style layout with one level. There was plenty of merchandise throughout the sectioned floorplan and within many aisles while ample space was given for carts and customers. Promotional posters and such were throughout as you would imagine. Minimal natural lighting came through the front glass windows and doors while a ton of electric soul-sucking fluorescent ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were plenty of TVs (only for display purposes) while Top-40 music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL At the very least, Burbank's Best Buy location contained what I was looking for on this trip, so I was happy and would consider another visit if needed. The store itself was bustling with customers for holiday deals and an approachable sales staff. They basically carried all the major name brands in appliances and electronics, so do your research and find what you want. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $1,326.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And like I said once I called to check up on my laptop they tried to charge $67 for a "service charge", handed me my laptop with No box- hadn't it been shipped back in hp manufacturer box? And they kept my hp manufactures charger. I definitely am beyond disappointed and I will advise anyone whom is smart enough to not throw away money in this economy. MacMyDay is the only place anyone should take their Apple product if something is wrong with it! Tommy is very upfront and honest (which is difficult to find these days!) as well as being just a really great guy. I had a 2009 MacBook which had what we thought was a simple cable problem, but even after that was replaced, it continued to have the same problem just not as often. When I first met Tommy he told me that the writing was on the wall for my computer. I knew that Apple no longer made my computer and at some point would have to upgrade my system just to even be compatible with current websites or pages. Being unemployed, I told him there was no way I could even afford a good used Mac or even these repairs, but had to have my computer in working condition. Anyway, long story short, Tommy worked with me. To put it simply, in order to function my hard drive had to be put in a new compatible body with working parts. Tommy did that for me and even gave me a slight upgrade. It's still an outdated computer that I will eventually still have to upgrade, but it's working! Right now, that's good enough for me so I can find a job and function in today's world! I am also so very grateful to him for the incredible rate he charged me. It was unexpected, but extremely generous. He's even trying to help me find a job! When I am able, I will definitely have Tommy upgrade my computer. Tommy is perhaps the best kept secret in the LA County Mac World! My hesitancy in writing this review is merely spreading the word on this guy and creating a demand that I may have to compete with in the future when I need his help again. Simply stated, the guy is honest, ethical, dedicated, and a real professional--even though he often meets his customers in a local Burbank postal service office. Don't let that fool you, the low overhead allows him to give you an amazingly low rate on your Mac repair! I'm a writer/producer and I rely on my laptop 24/7; Tommy fixed two Mac Book Pros at the same time for me superquick and the total bill was less than I would have paid for one repair at many other Mac repair services. Add that the guy is easy to talk to, instinctively knows your concerns, and answers his texts, emails, and phone calls with remarkable promptness given his workload and popularity. The fact is, I can go to any repair service but I'll take Tommy over any other Mac repair shop in Southern California any day! Tommy is the real deal and he doesn't gouge you in the end just because you're desperate for help. Has your Mac world suddenly come crashing down? Calm down and give Tommy a call. I don't write many reviews but every once in a while, a customer service experience is too amazing to pass up the opportunity. This, is one of those situations. Months back my Macbook Pro decided it no longer had internet hardware installed. One by one ports, software, and other hardware stopped working till it was nothing more than an expensive paper weight. The Apple Store called it "a massive cascade failure" and told me it would be around $600 to ship to Texas for a few weeks and no guarantees once it arrives. Having a backup Macbook Pro, I shelved it and forgot about it for a few months until I could stand it no more. I went to Yelp and found MacMyDay, which was near my work and has a lot of positive reviews. I left my computer with Tommy, who was very personable and an obvious expert in his field. In less than a week my computer was back running and like new, with a $250 invoice attached. The whole experience is bar none, the best, easiest, and cheapest computer ordeal I've ever encountered. I can't say I'm looking forward to the next Mac snafu but when it happens I'll be giving Tommy at MacMyDay a call. Bonus note: I get to be that guy in the tribe who has a "Mac guru" in my corner. MacMyDay is the real deal! Being the idiot that I am, I decided that I was going to try and open up my perfectly functioning 27" iMac to clean out the dust. Big mistake! I wound up ripping some stuff right off the logic board. After a desperate internet search I realized that it was far beyond anything I could repair, and apparently beyond what any Apple Store or typical computer repair shop could fix. Feeling like I had nothing to lose, I did a google search for local Mac repair shops and found this place. I gave them a call, left a message, and got a call back from Tommy within a half hour. I explained my idiocy, and Tommy assured me that MacMyDay could fix it. After a reasonable estimate I gave my broken computer to Tommy, and about a week later I had my iMac back, good as new. I am not easy on my Macs. I maintain multiple careers as a graphic artist, Art Therapist, and independent publisher. My laptop was jam-packed full of data when it suddenly stopped working. Tommy at MacMyDay has kept my Macs up and running for the past 15 years, protected with complete backup. They're the best! I've had MAC computers for 12 years & Todd Frank has serviced them all. He's knowledgeable, honest & can zero in on the problem immediately. Sometimes he can give you instructions over the phone that are easy to follow & the problem is resolved in minutes. When he can't give help over the phone, he's at my house within the day & has the problem fixed. But.........he not only fixes the problem, he goes over the entire computer making sure everything else is working as it should be. Mac My Day goes above & beyond every single time! I randomly called Mac my Day to get my late 2015 iMac 5k an updated SSD, I called and got Tommy on the phone. We ended up talking for 45 minutes because he was so cool. I had the service done and my Mac was 5x faster than it had ever been. I then had an issue with my iMac randomly rebooting so Tommy helped guide through some trouble shooting, it ended up being bad ram and unrelated to the service he provided but he was kind enough to help me, no charge. Not only did I walk away with a greatly affordably upgraded iMac I walked away with a friend, Tommy! We will now have a celebratory drink once Covid is done as I owe him big! Absolutely as good as it gets! I have never met a MAC IT specialist as brilliant (and human) as Tommy. Not only did he take an after-hours call at 7:30 pm, he squeezed me into his already packed schedule the next day to help me fix some major problems I was having. He knows MACS like nobody's business. I've never had this kind of customer service at an Apple Store. And his prices are incredibly reasonable. Remember the good old days when you got one the phone with someone for support and the call wasn't routed to some other country? Heck, MacMyDay is isn't just in this country, it's in this county! Imagine that? Also, you can speak with a real person or leave a message and they promptly call back. Seems simple yet most companies fail the test. Not only does MMD repair Macs, they offer good food for thought. Even the jokes by the service reps are great, well some of the time. Great company - Todd came right over and got my computer back to work and my back up system working. ( why didnt I do it sooner?) Then when that dreaded external harddrive failed - Todd returned to try to save it - when it didn't there was no charge for the visit...( again thank you) Now with a new laptop and needing to transfer only the stuff I want - I dont want to go to the Apple store or do it myself - Todd will arrive again on a weekend ( which is my only days off) and attack the machines and help me keep my data safe and working like it should be... recommended by another customer and now I'm his biggest fan. My very first Yelp review! I'm a busy voice actor, and my audio computer - a 2009 iMac - wouldn't boot. A friend in the business recommended Tommy and MacMyDay so I called him. He responded immediately. At the end of an already swamped day for him, he checked out my machine, discovered the hard disk was shot, replaced it, and backed up all my data from my Time Capsule - all in a little over 2 hours! I was up and running again in my studio soon thereafter that night, and everything worked flawlessly at the start of my busy morning the next day. Ok, what can I say about McMyDay? Well, I'm an artist, my fingers are dirty, I also work on VWs constantly, so my keyboard looks like a homeless person uses it as a pillow. My old Mac started giving me fits. What to do what to do. I took it to Tommy and in a short turnaround (literally one day) he not only had my Mac running faster than it had ever operated before, but he even cleaned my "Homeless" keyboard (not without a fair deal of ribbing, and now the inherent on-going joke). I have been working with Tommy for close to 5 years and recently moved 2.5 hours away from L.A. about a year and a half ago. It's a testament that I didn't need any IT work for that long... why? because Tommy set up my computer and back up system so wellI didn't need it. Needed to install RAM in my macbook pro to handle some large photoshop files. It's a bit older model, so the RAM wasn't in stock and yet MacMyDay (Tommy) was able to order it, have it shipped immediately, and the RAM was installed by lunch time the following day. Tommy did the work at my job in North Hollywood. In addition to installing he did some maintenance (like clearing cache files, etc) that had everything running smoothly. I have read the one star reviews (which are very few compared to his glowing reviews, btw) and I think some people just have a sense of entitlement to how they think customer service or presentation should be in places where they don't set the rules. They are probably written by the same people that question seating policies in restaurants that have been in business since before they were born. Bottom line is, Jeffrey knows his stuff and he is a character. When you are an expert in something, why waste time explaining your decades of knowledge to someone when you can just cut the fat? (He does explain, btw, but I think most people can't keep up with his knowledge) He asks direct questions because he is trying to quickly and concisely determine what is NOT the issue so he can better diagnose the solution. I wish more people talked like he does. And to anyone that criticized his office, you have probably never been in a workshop before. No frills, no BS, no reason to fluff it up just to make you feel something. It's engineering. I looked at other places nearby with flashy photographs of celebrities next to them and awards on the walls and the prices they charged... Most likely you would be charged like a celebrity and put on a wait list and asked to return later in the week, if at all. I'd much rather go to the genius in his workshop who isn't concerned with such meaningless aesthetics any day. Thank you , Jeffrey - you saved the day and I can get back to work with my files and I saved thousands on what I thought I'd have to spend to get a new computer. The guys at Burbank Computers rock. They've saved everything a few times. My PC died, I never backed up the million photos of my baby girl...They handed them to me on a disc 24 hours later. the laptop I bought after the PC had a few viruses...They saved it, told me how to protect it...I could keep typing but...you get the point...
