I went here for lunch with my friend on Sunday and it was amazing! We had the Macoletta Spritz, meatballs for our appetizer, and the Diablo Pizza for our main course. The staff were very friendly and the ambiance was nice. It had a summery outdoorsy feel to it

I called a little after they opened to place an order to go on my way home for lunch. She told me it would take 15 minutes when I got there 15 minutes later he had not even started making the pizzas. The guy who was making the pizza seemed kind of stressed but I hung around and waited another 30 minutes until the pizzas were done. I got a small and a large margarita. The small one was completely burnt on the bottom and the large one was doughy and under cooked. Somebody bites literally tasted like raw dough. It wasn't cheap either. I think I spent around $60. Really disappointed with my experience and it's a shame because the ingredients definitely tasted fresh. I don't know. Maybe it was just a bad day for them?

First off, my kids (who are very picky eaters) were both very happy with the margherita pizza and the rigatoni bolognese. The pasta was my dinner and they ate a lot of it bc it was so good, however the portion size was small. I don't really eat veal and the waitress assured me that it was delicious and it certainly was! My husband got the broccoli rabe and sausage pizza and it was perfect. All the food was delicious and fresh. I do recommend making reservations if you want to sit inside or at the bar. The staff were all friendly and efficient. Andela was pretty busy but she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Thank you.

Want great little spot and get a New York experience... If taste buds could throw a party, mine would still be dancing from the Diablo Pizza experience. This pie is a fiery masterpiece with just the right amount of sass and sweetness. It's a flavor seesaw that never tips too far in either direction. Balance? Nailed it. Now, if you're a meat lover (or a lover of meats, as I like to say), this pizza is your soulmate. It's stacked like a carnivore's dream journal--every bite a savory celebration of smoky, juicy goodness. And the crust? Oh, the crust. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, It's the kind of crust that makes you pause mid-bite and whisper, "Perfect." And let's not forget the Caesar salad. It wasn't just a sidekick--it was a co-star. Cool, crunchy romaine, creamy dressing with a garlicky zing, and those little crouton nuggets of joy? Yes please. It brought a refreshing contrast to the pizza's boldness, like a chill breeze after a spicy salsa dance. In short: Diablo Pizza is a flavor thrill ride, and the Caesar salad is your stylish seatbelt. Loved it, we came here for pizza and salad...my first meal this trip! It didn't disappoint....I had a white pizza and caprese salad...it was wonderful....and they had ginger beer! Winning!!! Always nice to have all the elements to a great meal!

We stopped here just for a drinks & my espresso martini was very good They have indoor & outdoor seating. We sat outside & the breeze was great on a warm afternoon.

SO SO SO GOOD, angela was our server and she was amazing. food was amazing best gluten free pizza ive ever had, and they made sure to specify that they clean the table top before hand so everything is safe to eat. very cozy vibe and a good place to watch the world cup.

In addition to the dishes posted - we also shared a pizza. The burrata canvas was the highlight of the meal but everything was delicious. The restaurant is small and cute - we sat inside and even though they had a quick turnaround for a private event they let us relax. The server was very attentive. My companion had a drink that was well prepared - but I was satisfied with the tap water and a soda. I was glad they had Coke Zero which is my favorite soft drink. I look forward to returning in the future to try other pizzas and appetizers.

The mushroom truffle pizza had to be my favorite pizza for brunch. It was super tasty and you kind of crave it when you're done eating it. The Hugo spritz paired really well with the pizza. Will definitely be back to try more options on their menu.

I came here twice while I was staying for a week in Astoria since the menu just looked so good! On the first instance, I got the burrata canvas and a Shirley temple. The streak of good, balanced shirley temples continues! The burrata canvas has me a little conflicted though, I felt like the mini calzones tasted very similarly to each other. My favorites were the mushroom (surprising) and margherita (unsurprising). But the only real difference between them was that the mushroom one didn't have tomato. The diavolo one tasted almost exactly like the margherita one except for one spicy bite. My least favorite was the broccoli rabe and sausage one, I think I was just expecting a different taste maybe like a sweet sausage but it was more bitter from the broccoli rabe. The best part of the whole canvas was the dough though. It tasted like actual pizza dough, way better than a lot of the calzones I've had at typical pizzerias. On my second visit, I ordered a mocktail that was a spirit free version of the mango peño (I think) and it was so tasty!!! I absolutely LOVED the burrata salad, the arugula was quite perfectly dressed in something that added a saltiness that was honestly addictive and perfectly balanced the creamy burrata and peppery arugula. I ate the whole thing! And I also ate the whole personal margherita pizza. I REALLY love margherita pizza and this one was just so fresh and delicious. I almost came back a third time. I really want to come back for one of their pizza making classes too!

The food here is good. The problem is that Astoria is full of spots similar to Macoletta which are outstanding. Still, I find myself back here at least once per year since it's so close to the park. This time around we tried the rice ball special which was crispy, but a little bland. The Napolitano pizza with capers was one of the better pies I've had here, though I had to ask for the anchovies on the side since my partner is vegetarian. We ended up having leftovers, which they boxed along with the anchovies which means those are now my leftovers since the slices have been contaminated. Service is always friendly and swift, and the ambiance is modern but cozy. We sat in front of the pizza oven this time which was fun to watch. It actually rotates and times the pizza cook so that everything cooks evenly, which is actually kind of genius.

Came here early afternoon for a bite with a pal. Enjoyed myself a nice cocktail and got the spicy pizza. I forget the name, but it was with some spicy salami and honey on top. Although I didn't taste the honey my friend did. I likely should have requested them to change out the salami with pepperoni since it was a little meaty for me. The pasta was also delicious. It was a mushroom based Alfredo and I only recommend it to those that actually like mushrooms because the flavor isn't hidden, which is exactly what I wanted. The server was also super sweet, I asked him to make it spicy for me and he did. For dinner before on the ambience is beautiful. Some days they play jazz music.

Please forgive the long review: We placed our second delivery order with Macoletta tonight and what started off as a bad situation turned into a lesson in great customer service. We love their pizza (probably the best in Astoria). Our food was sent to the wrong address so i called to complain (this seems to happen a lot due to third party delivery) and i spoke to the owner. He assured us that he would deliver the correct order ASAP. Just after i spoke to him our initial order arrived cold. I called to ask that the owner please not bother with delivering a repeat order and that it was fine. Well he came anyway with a hot, fresh order and I have to say that I appreciate that level of customer service. Many restaurants would be content with knowing that we received our food so his level of care is appreciated and their food really is incredible. read more

Gave this restaurant two tries and unfortunately we will not be returning. First time we tried to go we had a reservation, we showed up and the entire restaurant was dark with chairs still stacked up. The hostess told us that no one and the chefs didn't show up that day so we would have to wait around until they did. Needless to say, we left. Second time- we went for dinner on a Friday evening. But the service was very slow and they seemed to be extremely backed up on the food. The owner ended up having to help in the kitchen to get orders out. All we ordered was two pizzas and it took over an hour for us to get our food. Though the pizza was decently good, we won't be returning. read more

This place was delicious! I was skeptical that it would be able to hang with the other brick oven pizza places in the neighborhood. It was even better - plus we didn't have to wait for a table, our table was not on top of other tables or the hot oven, and the wait staff were friendly and attentive! My husband and I split 2 pizzas (big enough to bring left overs home) the Bianka and the Diavola, as well as the Macoletta salad. The ambiance is cute too. We will be coming back soon! read more

This may be the single worst value restaurant of all time. Their $34 -- THIRTY-FOUR DOLLAR -- large Taleggio pizza was less food than a small pizza from Dominos. It's the worst price-to-quantity ratio of any place I've yet to find in this city. read more

Had a great time Saturday night! Went in a large group, 11 in total, with five kids and the staff was great. Food was great, loved the Diablo and Mushroom. Big Alice cans of beer and my wife liked the wine. Win all around. read more

Delicious pizza with fresh ingredients! Everyone that works there is also so so nice! During the week you can also easily walk in, order a pizza, they make it fresh, quickly right in front of you and you're able to walk out with a fresh pie in 5 minutes! Great local spot! So glad they came to our Astoria neighborhood! read more

Having noticed this new pizza restaurant in my own neighborhood I was excited to get to it and give it a try. While there are quite a few pizza restaurants in Astoria, not all of them are good or equal. This place is just starting to settle into the neighborhood and I really hope that it sticks around, as it will be one of my most frequently visited places to eat. Now, I am a big fan of pizza and have been fortunate to try pizza from many of the most popular places in New York and around. So when I try a place for the first time I like to keep it simple. The house Margarita pizza typically tells me what the sauce, dough and mozzarella are like. I can tell you firsthand that I was very pleased, two thumbs up . The pizza comes out of this huge, part-wood, part-gas oven so fast that it will make your head spin. Part of that spin comes from the internal turntable which keeps the pie moving and also elevates it, which gets the pie closer to the higher temperatures within the oven. Watching our pizzas go for a spin in this oven was like watching your kid on a carnival ride. The mozzarella is made fresh daily in house. One can clearly taste the difference in the quality of this cheese. If you're in the neighborhood, or plan to visit the neighborhood. Make it a point to stop by this little corner slice of heaven. The pies are the perfect size for individual pizzas and I can promise you that you won't be waiting long to bite into this Italian treat. Oh, if you manage to save some room, definitely try the Nutella pizza for dessert. Your taste buds will thank me. read more

Amazing pizza. My favorites are the four cheese- festa di formaggi. The rosemary and blue cheese perfectly balance one another. My wife loves the Algerino which has lamb sausage on it. Friendly service and fantastic romantic atmosphere with a mix of French, Italian, and jazz music. Perfect for a friendly dinner, to take your parents, or for a date. Lovely local spot! A great place to host a party! We hosted our sons first birthday there yesterday, and the team pulled out all the stops! The food, as always, was amazing. The diablo is a must try. MACOLETTA PIZZERIA is one of the best in Astoria !You have to visit this place! Whether you eat in or take out the service is spot on, very professional, polite and they get the order right every time. The crust is crunchy wood oven crispy and the top chewy delicious. Every pizza we have,have been so flavorful ! They also have the best desert,u must try Toblerone and Nutella pizza ! Amazing staff! Ok I thought it was a joke at first but it was real. I paid 12$ for an extra small pizza. So basically the equivalent to 2 slices of pizza. I won't order from here again. The pizza is soggy so I threw it in the oven. No difference ......Smh At least put a medium pizza for 12$. Personal pan pizza and charged me medium pizza price. I should have hopped in my car and went to my favorite spot instead of ordering this but hey. What's done is done. read more

Wow! This pizza is SO good!!! We've been back four times since they opened and can't get enough... The Margarita and Diablo are my favorite - apparently they're their most popular too. And the Macoletta salad is super delicious too. They just opened a couple months ago, so they're still adding things to the menu, but it's already perfect in my opinion! Just go.. you'll be in pizza heaven! Btw their oven is super cool - you can sit at the bar and get a view of all the action. read more

We checked out Macoletta last night. We started with the Bianka pizza and Arugula salad. Both were great. The Bianca/white pizza was cooked to perfection. We finished with a dessert nutella pizza/pita which was insanely good. The place looks beautiful and the brick oven is quite the centerpiece. I wish they had a prosciutto and arugula pizza or a build your own, which maybe they do, I didn't ask. Owner, Walid, chatted with us for a bit. He was a great host. Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. read more

Everything about Macoletta's was wonderful. I went in with my family for my birthday. Our server was super nice and personable the entire time. She was even patient and not pushy at all when it took a few minutes for my parents to arrive. We loved the almond salad that was recommended to us as one of their specials. But the highlight, of course, was the brick oven pizza. We got three personal pizzas; Margherita, Lemon Chicken, and Mushroom. All we great. But the mushroom pizza was the best I've ever had. I was blown away. The Cremini mushrooms were perfectly cooked and the sauce used was incredible. It was money well spent. I was just kind of sad that it was so empty on a early Sunday afternoon. More people need to know how amazing this place is so it stays in business forever. I will definitely be coming back again. Or ordering out. read more

Very excited for Marcoletta to join the neighborhood. We came by on a Friday during their first week of business and were able to sit at the pizza bar. What a fun seat! We saw our appetizer be prepared a few inches away from us and watched as the pizza team seamlessly work together making pies and getting them in and out of the oven perfectly. We asked about their bar situation and they said they expect to have their licensing worked out soon, so that will be a nice addition. Looking forward to coming back! read more

One word: AMAZING! Another word: DIVINE! Tired of the generic NYC slice? Care for some authentic Italian pizza? Macoletta is a gift to NYC! Meet the Business Owner: Walid I.

Walid Idriss talents developed during his career in finance. He also brings his experience during his time working in the food industry, from delis and bagel places, to high end restaurants. He's a "jack of all trades" in this sector, and has done pretty much every job you can do when it comes to commercial food: food prep and dishwashing, bussing, waiting tables, tending bar, and managing the front of the house.

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

The place was packed to the rafters the whole night making it hard to watch the games. Sight lines vary wildly depending on where you're sitting. We shared the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was good. The mango was very fresh and the sticky rice with coconut milk was sweet, but not overly. My friends ordered the Kopi De Trang, Spicy Maesai Plum, Rainfall in Loei, Thai ice tea lychee, pad see ew with chicken, pad kee mao beef (non spicy), and khao soi gai confit. I ordered a pad kee mao beef with a spice level of 2 to go. It is a great option to have a spicy and non spicy option for pad kee mao. Everyone enjoyed their food. Staff are very friendly and the food come out very quickly after ordering. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash and a 2.95% surcharge for credit cards. Kam Rai Thai serves authentic Thai food and I can't wait to come back. It is a great place for friends to catch up.

My friend ordered their pulled pork arepa, and I ordered one of their rice plates. The arepa was filled to the brim. It was full of beans, meat, and topped with cheese. My plate was absolutely delicious and its aroma filled the restaurant. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and saucy. The plantains were pan fried to perfection, tender and sweet. The beans were flavorful. I could have just that with rice all day. Writing this review is making my mouth water. Maybe I should return there soon!

Nous commençons par un apéro au vin rouge français avec un plateau de charcuterie et de fromage très bien sélectionné par le maître des lieux. Vraiment l impression d être en France et en Italie tellement les fromages et la charcuterie sont goûteux... ( vraiment un must à tester de toute urgence!!!) Nous avons ensuite choisi 3 pizzas à partager : la Margharita, Diabolo et la Nancy ( aux figues). Je ne saurais vous dire laquelle est la meilleure tant les 3 furent excellentes. La qualité des produits et la pâte les rendent vraiment délicieuses! Nous avions accompagné le tout par un verre de vin rosé français cette fois, excellent lui aussi. Soulignons également que le propriétaire des lieux fût vraiment très avenant et à l écoute. Il nous a d ailleurs préciser qu il allait dans les prochains jours diversifier encore ses plats avec notamment au menu des pâtes et de nouveaux desserts. Horrible staff and service! I come for my kids birthday the only woman working there with blonde hair and a nasty attitude says there is no table for 6 (when there was a visible 6 tables and all of inside open) because I didn't have reservations. I been 4 times with no reservation. Then a guy said yes. Then tells me outside is for a hour and I have to leave by the hour. I have 4 kids, you didn't take my order but are stressing that! But not inside, ok then inside. Inside I'm seated with a attitude asked for a menu got one after 20 mins see the guy again and tells me now it's a hour for inside. Wait another 20 mins or longer to say 2 large pizza, I ask if 2 large pizza is enough he walks away and said I need my order to be done I'll be back (very very rude). I'm like I'm ordering but I'm asking if that's enough or not to my friend eating. Comes back later mind you a hour went by with no service. Asked for water for my kids 5 times! Takes my order and if I didn't have hungry kids and A child that wanted to eat there with a friend I would of left! Horrible rude staff.! Also when leaving we knew a family at one of the tables that was empty, that sat there that said they did not have reservations! Nasty people here. This review is based on two experiences with Macoletta. I'm new to the area & have had a hard time finding good pizza. I've been to so many places with good reviews on yelp- the pizza either had great sauce & not so great crust, or vice versa. Macoletta knows how to make pizza! First time I tried them was a few weeks ago- we placed an order through yelp- we ordered the small (12") Bianka Pizza with sausage. It was very good! The 12" is perfect for 2 people. We ordered two espressos with mini choc covered cannolis. Delish! Delivery came sooner than expected on a Friday night (25 min). Last night we went in to grab dinner- cute, chill atmosphere with a rustic decor. We were seated within minutes of arriving. We ordered the Margarita 12" (even better than the Bianka). It was a busy night & it took a while for the pizza to come, but it was worth the wait. For dessert we ordered macchiato & the apple crumb to share- it was not edible. It tasted like margarine with bread crumbs and apples & it was cold. The manager came over to apo & brought us alternatives- gelato and cannolis on the house- so good! I can't wait to go back. I was craving Italian food and decided to check out Macoletta Brick Oven Pizzeria since it has great reviews. The photos of the burrata canvas caught my eye and it looked amazing so I came in excited to try it. The burrata canvas was definitely different from what I expected, but in a good way. Each corner of the meal had a different flavor and it was creative and delicious. However, the Linguine Alle Vongole was disappointing as it was way too salty for my taste and hard to enjoy. Overall, I wouldn't say the food was great, but more just okay. On the bright side, the service was excellent, which I really appreciated. Just a heads up: if you don't pay with cash, they charge you a credit card fee, which wasn't mentioned upfront. Not sure if I'd rush back, but it was an alright experience overall. read more

Stepping into this NYC pizzeria was one of the best "stumbles" I've ever made. The rave reviews online were spot on--this place absolutely lives up to the hype! I walked in right as they opened on a sweltering New York day, and the service was incredible from the start. My drink was on the table in under two minutes, and my pizza was ready in less than 15. It was a treat to watch them make it right in front of me, too! The food itself was fantastic. The pizza was perfectly delicious without feeling too heavy. The staff was also excellent--my server was so friendly and helpful. Plus, the atmosphere was a perfect blend of cozy and vibrant.
