Do I want quality baked goods from the source? Um, yes, please! I've been spending more time in the southend since I'm not working downtown anymore. One of the downtown businesses I had been missing is Macrina Bakery. I recently found out they have one in Kent. Yay! Their cafe is right at their manufacturing and distribution center. The hours are a little different from the downtown locations but it makes sense because there aren't many people driving through W Valley Hwy on the weekends. It's hidden from the main road and it's in a business park. A lot of local workers know it's here though because there was a steady flow of customers coming in. They have seating inside but I opted to eat outside since it was nice out. They do have outdoor seating but they don't have umbrellas to shade you from the sun. Since it was around lunch time I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. Beecher's is one of the best local cheese companies around and I'm so glad it's paired with Macrina's sour white. I also ordered the blueberry cheesecake and the barista placed it in a pink box. The pink box is such an iconic container. I learned about it in a documentary on Hulu called The Donut King. You just know if you see someone carrying a pink box there's something sweet and delicious inside. Kent has a lot of land so free parking is such a perk especially when you've been accustomed to the ridiculous fees that Seattle charges. Also, they have such a good selection of baked goods. They don't have a problem with running out of anything since they're right at the facility. read more

Only opened Monday to Friday space is really nice but parking can be tricky and if you go later in the day alot of their options are limited. Can door dash order for pick up if you have to go later in the day but want to secure your pasties. Space is nice and love the morning roll, bialy sandwich, and their cornetta. Some of my wishes to improve the location served better coffee currently Umbria but would love to see different beans, open on weekends, bialy by itself and not just the sandwich option. A little expensive for the area pastries worth it coffee not so much. read more

Genuinely the essence of a hidden gem ! Me and my friends were looking for a new place to meet, catch up and enjoy each other's company. This cafe gave us the feeling of comfort and class that we loved to feel while we were together. It's a perfect place to grab a great pasty, a good coffee and catch up with people ! Staff is so kind and patient, definitely enjoyed the feeling that came from then & the cafe design. Very simple, subtle, yet comforting. Loved the baguette with butter and jam, made me feel like I was eating a tiny tiny version of a regular baguette, but in its whole baguette essence. OMG BEWARE!!!!! I'm SO DISAPPOINTED! Not only did they give me the WRONG quiche, but it was burnt so badly it was inedible. I was really looking forward to trying this place. Also, you're in an industrial area - no utensils? If people are ordering out, they're probably in an office. They didn't have one item I ordered - why not just cancel the entire order instead of give me the wrong sub-par item? If you order from here, go in - not only to ensure you get the correct item, but that it's not burnt so badly you waste your money. Do better. read more

I forgot about this location because I I was introduced to Macrina in belltown and that's where I used to work. I was ahead of schedule in my day so I decided to grab lunch because I didn't make it to the grocery store people that chicken pot pie is to die for tasty season chunks of chicken potatoes and vegetables and all baked into a thick bread crust and it's not a big pot pie like your traditional pot pies it may fit into the palm of my hand but it's very Hardy full of flavor and is just enough to keep you full until your next meal. It's Valentine's season so the bakery had a few tasty raspberry treats I purchased a raspberry mousse cake, and yes I ate the whole thing by myself don't judge but it fits in the palm of my hand, crispy feuilletine(a crispy confection made from thin sweetened crepes) popped with Ethereal light as air layers of raspberry mousse and Bavarian cream coated in a raspberry mirror glaze.I purchased a morning glory muffin and apple turnover for later but my dad ate that so I can't give you a review on that but based upon my naked eye and the fact that I'm a baker myself it looked good, their daily soups and they also sell a pint of soup for 1350 their soups are good as well and all I went in for a short Americano I came out 75 bucks later but I'm not complaining as I said before I didn't make it to the grocery store last I grabbed a salad to go and that salad had a blend of spinach arugula olives creamy balsamic vinegar and some the slices of cheese I'm not sure what kind of cheese I just know it was white, and then of course one of their shortbread big valentine heart cookies that I shared with the ladies at the office yes it's an $8 cookie but it is very well worth it and it's big enough for you guys to share with each other so please do that. Another nice seating area outside in front of their little cafe perfect to have lunch with friends or family when the weather gets a little better here in the Seattle area. Signature jellies, cookbooks, aprons, totes, and mugs for sale along with many loaves of bread, their daily soup that changes obviously daily, packages of shortbread cookies, and sometimes they have packages of mini scones I'm not sure if they change amount seasonal but I purchased a pack of four blueberry scones and they were amazing. And it's always nice I say like having a cherry on top of your Sunday when the staff provides good service and with a smile!! And sorry pet lovers no animals allowed, and you can order online for pickup must be placed by noon in 2 days in advance. read more

This outfit in Kent (many other outlets in Seattle) is my go-to for top quality baked goods, light lunch items, espresso, and a favorite for "employee appreciation treats" i do for my coworkers. Its easy to miss the bread selection behind the counters bc the baked goodies are so attractive -- but they have a savory collection back there. Coffee is made fresh, individual batches and feature Umbria brand. The baking operation partially viewable from the store indicates how big the production is -- A must try read more

My family loves Macrina! Great ambiance and delicious food. My daughter ordered a hot chocolate and a brioche egg sandwich. I had green tea and a warm morning bun. The staff is friendly and personable. I witnessed a staff members swiftly came from around the counter to one of the tables to help an elderly customer bus her plate. I also noticed that my daughter dropped her fork and napkins when she was bussing her dish and a staff member quickly came to help her. Marina continues to be a favorite bakery. I've had it three times in the few weeks. I had a wonderful apple turnover. It was flaky with an apple filling that was sweet, but not too much. Although I do enjoy sweets. My birthday cake is a lovely chocolate cake from them. Such a good sandwich! I happened to be around the area killing time due to my friend arriving late at the airport. Checking Yelp for help, came across this bakery that I have wanted to go for a while that I never knew they had a location near the airport. The shop was surrounded by warehouse type buildings, i had a hard time finding... The nice lady explained about lunch option and some baked goods in the showcase. I decided on full size chicken sandwich and the cup of soup, and a cup of Americano which was about $20. The sandwich was big, I should've ordered a half size.. the taste was sooo good with full of flavors!! The bread, focaccia?, was crispy out and moist in and aioli and butter? I can say Micho in pike place and this shop compete pretty close to be my number one sandwich. read more

I used to go to Macrina's in Belltown weekly and the location in Kent is just as good! THey deliver through DoorDash now which is wonderful. Sometimes I feel the items that are delivered are not as fresh as what you get when you walk in but it's still good. Everything I've tried is so good. Quality ingredients make the difference. I'm in love with their whisper cake. ( it freezes great to-I freeze individual portions for use within a few weeks). Service at the store is friendly, and helpful. Lines can be long. I usually order ahead. The ahead ordering can be confusing because you have to place the order two days in advance. Accounting for their days closed. The online ordering service is easy. It's all worth it. read more

This was such a cute little bakery. The staff was so nice and sweet. I tried the lemon blueberry cheesecake (which is a bold change up for me) and it was absolutely amazing. The cheesecake was so light and creamy and the blueberries were perfectly plump and sweet. Really spacious area to do work with outdoor seating as well. I would totally return to grab some treats and do some work throughout the day. read more

Great place! Hidden gem in a primarily industrial/office space area. Love places like these. This Macrina Bakery & Coffee seems to be the hub where all the baked goods are made and distributed from. Fun to look into the baking zone from the cafe window! Sister had the blueberry scone (she said it was good), and I had the morning glory muffin. I really enjoyed the crispy muffin top, and the walnuts and carrots mixed into the batter. We each had an almond milk latte, and the barista did a fabulous job making our drinks creamy and smooth. We added the vanilla sugar, and it made our drink even more exquisite. Happy to come back soon! As a souvenir, I picked up one of their mugs. Sturdy and pretty at the same time. read more

I am not the biggest fan of the pan de muertos bread. But take my review with a grain of salt since I am not the biggest dried fruit (raisins, cranberries,) fan with cinnamon. Other than the sugar crust and the soft texture, the bread's flavor falls flat for me. I really do think it's a personal preference though. The orange flavor is not that strong, and I think I was expecting a more strong orange zesty flavor. But nothing wrong with the bread entirely--just merely personal preference. read more

Can't believe it took so long to discover this cafe!! I've been here a few times to get some breakfast pastries to go and it has yet to disappoint. The ham and cheese brioche is amazing! Also tried their orange hazelnut roll and the buttermilk biscuit with a cherry like filling. So good and fresh! Great selection of breakfast items and friendly service. First off when you look through the window of the production bakery they have posted the company values for everyone to see that's powerful you won there alone. The festive decor the clean bakery was a great! Friendly staff nothing but smiles and patience as we tried to decide what to order. We had the most delicious buttery savory sausage biscuit sandwich just wow! Flavorful to the last bite. The brioche egg sandwich was good but after the biscuit was hard to be like wowed but that ham was sweet and savory great flavor. Lastly we had the raspberry croissant this stole my heart with that delicious jam. If your nearby you gotta try this bakery. read more

Go early. By 12:15 nearly everything was gone - half of which while we were waiting in line. I got the last half of a grilled cheese. It was okay - good taste but it was cooked a little unevenly. Did not try any of the baked goods. Which brings me to service....the people working were hustling and very apologetic at the wait and the diminishing menu. It sounded like *maybe* they were inundated with Door Dash orders or something. But because they were overwhelmed, food was sort of being thrown together - not sure it was the quality they really wanted it to be. I felt bad for them. read more

This is a fun new place. If you live up in Seattle you may have had their breads and baked goods at other locations. This is their large baking facility for those locations. They also opened a small little deli/lunch counter type of shop. Their food is really good, the menu changes weekly and everything is fresh! Friendly staff that greet you and make you feel welcome. The food is excellent but they are a bit pricy for some of the items, especially their cakes and other deserts! If you are looking for another fun spot for lunch, I would certainly recommend this place! read more

I came in today to pick up some coffee for me and my girlfriend. A little food. I've been here a few times but normally we get food from the SODO storefront. I ordered two coffees, which were fine, and two hot sandwiches. Some cookies as well. I get my stuff and leave. I get home about fifteen minutes later only to find that they didn't actually put my food in the bag, just the snickerdoodle cookies. I give them a call and they can either refund my money or I could come back in and they can remake my food. I opt to come back in. 15 minutes later I'm there and he is pulling my food off the counter. I ask him if he just reheat them and he reassures me "No, they're fresh" I open the bag of the ham and swiss brioche and it was black. Burnt to a crisp and stuck to the paper. Clearly it was recooked. I tell the employee this was unacceptable and would like a new one. He looks unhappy but obliges. Then when I get home, I untape the sausage biscuit and the meat was dry as a bone, the biscuit was way over cooked and falling apart and the egg barely looked like egg. I made it through half before tossing it. Again, recooked but It would've been hard to unravel everything then and there. This is the second time in as many trips they have messed up an order and will not be coming back. I expect this from a McDonalds but not from a slightly more upscale bakery. 2 stars because the coffee was slightly better than average and the cookies were at least edible if not a little old and stale tasting. read more

This gem is tucked away and offers a calm and relaxing environment, not a common reality for many cafes in Seattle! Knowledgeable and friendly staff with the most delicious baked goods and drinks.
