We had dinner at Mac's on Main over the weekend. The crab cakes, as an appetizer, were a hit. The wine and generous portions of salad were also enjoyable. While the flavor of the steak was good, it was disappointing that one of the steaks was not cooked to order. My friend ordered her steak medium, but it was well done. She did not mention it to our server, because she didn't want our whole party to have to wait while another steak was prepared. Our server was not friendly and did not come around very often. I visit here quite regularly (biweekly or more often). I have a slight obsession with the pecan crusted trout. I've never been disappointed - ever. Sometimes I'll over-go to restaurants when I find a dish I love. You know how you'll go the first time and it's glorious and then the next time it's mediocre? Well that is not this place or dish. I've tried other entrees and apps too that were great in their own rights, but if you aren't sure of what to get, start with the trout. Above all, this is my favorite restaurant because of the service - not just the food. Every server we have had was beyond exceptional and the experience is more personable than any you'll get at other restaurants. It's like you are being hosted by friends of the family. Josh is especially mentionable. Even when he is not serving my table, he comes over and speaks. Bottomline, I highly recommend Macs on Main! read more

The food was solid, but the service was a concern. A group of four of us went for lunch which started pleasant. The food did take a little longer than would be preferred for lunch to come out, but we were not in a rush so not a big deal. The concern came when my salmon salad was not brought out with the other three entrees. The waiter did not notice for a short while, and after checking back in noticed that my salad had not come out. I insisted on the rest of the table starting on their entrees which they politely paced themselves with. The salad came out 15 min later with blue cheese when I had asked for this to be left off. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Worth. There are many restaurants on yelp which receive great ratings for little reason, but few which receive mediocre ratings for the wrong reasons. Mac's is held to a higher standard than most restaurants and many Yelpers have failed to convey this in their reviews. Their fried chicken is, in my opinion, the best in the metroplex, and their steaks are consistently delicious. Their homemade salad dressing is to die for, and they offer some of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. I have spent my entire life enjoying the great restaurants that DFW has to offer. Restaurants with such consistent excellence are few and far between, give this place a shot. read more

Gone is a great fine dining atmosphere, and the great food that I was used too at the old location. Unfortunate because I was really looking forward to a spot that would be a little less of a pricing level than Dino's with good quality. Service was good until the very end (will explain that later). Calamari is the ring type with fried onions to fill space. Good batter, but tough ring style not good. The server was cool and let us try a couple of sips of wine, but we ended up sticking with our cab palette anyway. The prime rib was a 5 out of 10. Very average for a place that says it's their specialty. Turtle cheesecake made by the bartender was really good. So now the ending... Saw I was charged 30.95 for the prime rib and grilled shrimp (which tasted like a dirty grill) and saw "sub" asparagus. $4.00 up charge for asparagus should have been mentioned by server when he read off our vegetable options. Not all patrons read the menu . Anyway, when we challenged it (and we are very nice), he didn't even offer to take it off. Really? Anyway, too many other good choices around Grapevine in this category. I won't be back. read more

The new location on Main Street is amazing! My favorites are the prime rib and the filet for dinner and the burger for lunch. But the fish is always really good too as is the Sunday brunch. I really like everything on the menu. The atmosphere is casual but classy. The service is impeccable and the parking is convenient. This is our favorite go-to place and also where we take out of town visitors. When our kids are home, they always want to go to Macs too! read more

Horrible horrible horrible! My family and I were regulars at the Colleyville location. We were always happy with the service and food. My brother planned to have his wedding ceremony in Pittsburgh, but got married at the justice of the peace in Fort Worth. We chose this location to celebrate for dinner. We had made reservations for 6, but needed to increase them to 8 for additional family members that wanted to attend last minute. When we arrived we were told that we could be accommodated, but would need to wait. Not a big deal. We went to the bar and had drinks. After almost an hour, we were taken to 2-4 tops to be seated!! What?!? Why on earth would you think 2-4 tops would be acceptable?!? When we told the hostess that we were not happy, we were told we would need to wait even longer. Completely unacceptable! How about some open communication with the patrons?!? If they couldn't have accommodated us, that should have been made clear...not after waiting over 45 minutes and being taken to 2-4 tops. And the attitude from the hostess was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. The kicker was the large open tables that were available during our entire wait AND that the hostess FOLLOWED US OUT OF THE RESTAURANT with rude remarks. Absolutely pitiful! We ended up going to Wildwood in Southlake for amazing service and a private room for our party of 8. Thanks Mac's for pushing away regular customers with your horrible service and horrendous attitude of the hostess! read more

visited today (Sunday) for birthday lunch. searched menu online first, no where was it mentioned that only the brunch menu was served Sunday. ordered the vegetarian omelet, and requested no diary (no cheese and no milk in eggs). server verified it could be made as such. food arrived and my omelet had cheese, so it was sent back. server came back and stated all omelet eggs contained dairy as it was a premade mix. unfortunately, there were no other items on the menu I could eat. in the mean time, my husband who ordered chicken fried steak due to a SEVERE poultry allergy was served chicken fried Chicken. he put a piece in his mouth before realizing it was chicken. He spent the remainder of the day extremely ill. the server was very apologetic, and said he would send a manager over, yet a manager never came to our table. we allowed our children to eat their over priced Sysco food before asking for the bill. while my meal was removed, the chicken fried steak meal was not rectified. by this time, we were to frustrated with the lack of attention and Manager's inability to visit our table for major kitchen errors we paid our tab and left. given this was my birthday lunch and I didn't eat due to kitchen errors and kitchen errors resulted in a potentially life threatening situation, we will not be visiting again. if you have food allergies, this is not the place to visit. read more

The three stars rating is an average of a four for the food and a two for the service. This was our first visit to Mac's since they moved from Colleyville to Grapevine. The space is brighter and more open than the old Colleyville location. My dinner companion had the filet mignon and I had hanger steak. We both had loaded baked potatoes. The steaks were cooked as requested. No complaints about the food. Let's get to the other stuff. I made reservations on OpenTable at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. We wanted a 6:30 seating but there were no 6:00 or 6:30 times available. I booked a 7:00 reservation. That is not a problem, especially for a Saturday night. What is a problem was that when we arrived a little before 7:00, the restaurant was maybe ¼ full at most. There is no way that a restaurant that was full for 6 and 6:30 seatings emptied out that fast. Does Mac's hold back tables from OpenTable or do they have staffing problems? By the time we left a little after 8, the place was full. Now to the service. We were seated immediately but there was quite a delay before our server, Ethan, showed up. We ordered drinks and waited. Eventually, water was served. Another delay and our beverages were served. At that time our server asked if we were ready to order our entrees. No offer of appetizers. We were also told bread would be out soon. His definition of soon varies from ours. Eventually, the bread came. More waiting and our entrees were delivered by a different server. About halfway through the meal, Ethan showed up and we ordered another round of drinks. My drink was delivered, not quickly, but my companions wine was not. I asked Ethan where it was since I wasn't sure he got the order correct. The response was that "they are making it". Apparently, Mac's makes the wine right before they serve it. Just to top it off, when finished, I took the bill and placed it and my credit card on the table next to me. When Ethan returned with the credit card charge, he handed it to my companion. So the recap is, space nice, food very good, service sux. Maybe if we're in downtown at meal time we'll stop in again. It's not worth a trip, especially if you are in a hurry. Too bad. read more

Went to Mac's for years when they were off of Glade Road in Colleyville. This was my second time since they have been on Main. We didn't enjoy the experience the first time right after they opened but decided to give it a try again. We still LOVE the food but we still HATE the experience. Very loud, your dining so close to other tables that you cant help but overhear their conversations. No privacy at all. I MISS the old atmosphere. It was so nice before but now feels like a school cafeteria with the noise level and lack of privacy. read more

The food is outstanding and we have tried everything on the menu, nothing disappoints. We usually sit at the bar and enjoy the cocktails and friendly service. Their Cosmos are a must! Macs was a regular dining place for me and my husband at the Colleyville location, but actually thought it was out if business when the doors at that location closed. We were happy to find the new location and planned our anniversary dinner there. I was disappointed with the lack of ambiance; it felt cold and somewhat austere. As for the food, the bread and salad were as I remembered, but the Steak Pepperonata was very different. The filet was prepared and cooked well, but the sauce too strong and too much of it. It became overpowering and I could not finish it. My husband's NY strip was good. Dessert which was an apple pastry was mediocre. The scoop of vanilla/cinnamon ice cream was more like a tablespoon. We may try lunch there, but not the best for a romantic dinner. Sure do miss the old Mac's. read more

Delicious food! Great for kids as well. We love to come here for brunch which includes a fruit/salad bar which is a great appetizer! While breakfast is very affordable dinner is a bit more pricey but well worth it. Make reservations for Sunday brunch because everyone loves to come here as soon as church lets out. use to eat at Macs in Colleyville quite a few times. ur new place in Grapevine has a bunch of punk brats as waiters that are clueless about serving or greeting customers. the only thing on his mind is getting a tip and rushing you out the door. never asked if I wanted Desert, which I did, a Brandy Alexander which you probbly would have charged me $10. 1st you said you had it than after a 5 minute wait, you said you did,nt have any Ice Cream. Waiter put the bill on my table long before I was finnished eating. He lost all of his tip at that point. you people would,nt leave me alone, asking me every 5 minutes how my food tasted. thx for runeing my dinning experiance Saturday nite. $39 for a shitty prime rib and mushrooms. For starters I had the scallops served in homemade guacamole and blue corn tortillas. The scallop was delicately spiced and cooked to perfection, which is a culinary feat with scallops. The accompanied greens were drizzled with a delicious fig balsamic vinaigrette. I also had the trout with mushrooms, capers and pecans cooked in a wine butter sauce. The trout was perfectly cooked and delicious. I will return to Macs every time I visit Grapevine. read more

We had been going to the Mac's location in Colleyville since it opened, and were Sunday brunch regulars. We made our first visit to the new location, Mac's on Main and were very disappointed. The food was fine but did not make up for the other shortcomings. The former setting was warm, sophisticated and very private, while the new one is cold and pretty much devoid of character - more like a company cafeteria. They were inflexible about accommodating a request for one egg and english muffin for my daughter who recovering from an illness, and charged $1.50 for a side of hollandaise sauce. Disappointed is an understatement when talking about this place. My boyfriend and I made reservations to dine here on Valentine's day and had one of the worst/rude experiences ever! To start things off, we luckily found parking, walked inside and barely got a greeting from the lady at the door. When we were seated, it took almost 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our DRINK order. I sat there staring at the group of waitresses that huddled around the bar not servicing anyone, hoping they would get the hint. One lady looked me in my eyes and turned her head. I completely understand having to wait this long for a drink order if the restaurant was busy, but they weren't. There was probably more staff there that night than guests. Finally, a young man came over to take our order. By this time, my boyfriend and I were both fed up from the rude glares and poor service we received. We paid and tipped the waiter for the $3.50 salad he left us and left. We ended up ordering Texas Roadhouse to go. They had more menu options anyway. Seriously though, this place will not last very long if you don't treat your customers with respect. No one wants to spend their hard earned money for crappy service. Definitely won't be back and I'll be sure to advise others of it as well. read more

This morning I was very disappointed with the new Mac's. The old location was more elegant, had class and beauty. The bar was beautiful and the Wine Vault was vey very nice. And no hot Chocolate because Mac's is smaller (only a 3rd of the old place) and has no room for certain things. What else did you remove? What a poor excuse. Now it is just another bar/cafe to have a bite to eat and a drink. Absolutely No Elegance, No Class and No Beauty. The majority of customers were of a lower quality (dress and appearance). The food taste the same, but portions are smaller and prices have gone up. I understand the price increase, but leave the portions the same. What a waste of time and money for me the customer and you the business. Mac's used to be my favorite place to celebrate special occasions with my husband, family and friends. Not anymore. The place does not deserve the name Steak and Seafood. It is more like Mac's Café. read more
