I always get their golden leaf tea with cream cheese and coconut jelly + boba (it's on the top 10 on their sign). I love their cream cheese and the tea is very refreshing. A bit pricey though, my drink costs me $8+ As for the place, it is small and parking is difficult. Too bad they have it in pasadena i would go more if it's a bit more east with parking.

If you love mango drinks, this is your one stop tea shop. I came on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded. I noticed on one of the signs that they offer a 10% discount if you use an official sold MACU reusable cup and a 2% discount if you use any other reusable cup, or MACU's plastic cup from a previous visit. All of the workers were busy making drinks, so I ordered on the one kiosk they had. The shop is small and it didn't take long for them to make my drinks. My favorite drink was the Chi-Chi Mango Smoothie. It was sweet, smooth, and had mango chunks and green tea jelly. Their #1 drink - King of Mango Smoothie had grapefruit pulp, which was bitter. All of their drinks were pretty sweet. The Chi-Chi Jasmine Green Tea had a cheese foam top and tasted the least sweet of the three drinks I ordered to share.

Whenever we are in or near Old Town Pasadena, my husband and I just have to make a stop by Macu Tea before we leave the area. The drinks here are high quality and authentic. My favorite drink has to be the Sunshine Li-Li Fruit Tea. It has a vibrant and tangy citrus flavor. I love the pieces of fresh passion fruit pulp mixed into the tea. This has the perfect ratio of orange juice and green tea, where no single flavor feels overbearing. Another solid drink is the Matcha Tiramisu, which is actually called a drinking dessert. It has a strong matcha smoothie base infused with some crunchy cookie crumbs topped with a tasty tiramisu foam - very creamy and indulgent. This is the perfect hybrid of a dessert and a drink. For parking, I would recommend the School House Garage parking structure located right behind this bubble tea shop. This little shop is more of a to-go kind of place versus sitting in.

Delicious and refreshing tea! I tried the lemon jasmine green tea w/half sugar & less ice and loved it. The lemon flavor is not too tart in my opinion and had just the right amount of sweetness. Service is through a self order kiosk at the front. This is not one of those boba places for people to hang out, as it is quite small.

I was a little startled by the high prices of the drinks, but it is so valid for the fresh fruit and perfect sweetness of each drink. The king of mango smoothie is a lovely blend of texture with a crisp manila mango flavor. The strawberry tiramisu tastes of real strawberries with a nicely blended creaminess from the foam on top. The store is located in old town Pasadena, so you'll likely have to pay for parking. The store is small and better for a grab-and-go drink, but they prepare the drinks pretty quickly

I've visited Macu Tea in Taiwan before, so I was excited to finally try the Pasadena location. They're known for their fresh fruit teas, and this visit didn't disappoint. The menu took me a minute to figure out--Chi-Chi is cheese foam, Bo-Bo is agar, and Li-Li seems to mean fruit pieces. The drinks were refreshing and not overly sweet, with plenty of fresh fruit. The cheese foam was rich and creamy without being too salty, and I loved the chewy texture of the Bo-Bo. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors!

Macu Tea, a shop that's inside a small sector in Old Town Pasadena. Parking can be arranged in many structures nearby (paid). The shop is pretty small but they have 3 tables for seating. Interior has plenty of wall spots for pictures not only with your order but even yourself. Perfect for Yelpers ;) My wife and I had our eyes on two drinks, Matcha Tiramisu & Sunshine Li-Li Tea. Drinks came out pretty quickly and the staff offered a carrier that was pretty unique, similar to ones you only receive on international trips. 1. The Matcha Tiramisu caught me by surprise. I had my drink at 50% sugar and it felt just right. The matcha mixes really well with the tiramisu which made a really creamy feeling. I love the slight swirl on it as well. Perfect for a nice outing, highly recommend this drink for any matcha/tiramisu lovers. 2. My wife had the Sunshine Li-Li Tea and it was very refreshing. Very similar to fresh fruit teas, best part is that it's not too sweet either, perfect to drink on a warm day to cool down, perfect drink and highly recommend. Overall, Macu Tea has impressed me, although it would be nice if there were more seating arrangements, but with a smaller shop, it's great how it is already without extra seating. I absolutely love the interior & the plentiful of drink choices. Will be back often to try other options.

I tried the King of Mango Smoothie, and it was decent. I also ordered another of their top seller, the Strawberry Bobo, which I think is better than the mango. The strawberry one has more sweetness, which I prefer. The King of Mango Smoothie is refreshing but not very sweet. It's a good option for people who enjoy lighter, less sugary drinks. Personally, I like sweeter flavors, so I'd pass on this one next time. On the other hand, the Strawberry Bobo Smoothie had the perfect level of sweetness. The crunchy boba and green tea jelly paired really well with it. Overall, it was worth trying once, but I wouldn't come back.

Came on a Thursday evening and it was empty inside. There are a few tables for indoor seating. We ordered using the kiosk at the counter and it didn't take too long for the drinks to be ready. I tried the Golden Leaf Milk Tea ($6.75) with light sugar and light ice and it was pretty good. Not too creamy and could still taste the tea.

(+) Golden Leaf milk tea MACU tea is a Taiwanese boba/tea shop that specializes in teas and smoothies. They are known for their "King of mango" smoothie, which looks quite delicious and will try on another visit. This location is located on Colorado and the best place to park is at the Fair Oaks/Green St. parking lot. It is a quick 3-4 minute walk. I tried the golden leaf milk tea because I wanted something simple, and simple I got. I loved how you can customize ice and sweetness level. I went with the 30% sweetness, which was perfect for someone who doesn't like sweet drinks. Next time I will have to try the boba. I do wish I tasted more of the tea flavor in the drink. They use non-dairy creamer in their milk teas, so celebrate lactose intolerant people, like myself!! Service/ambiance: The service was great. You can order on a screen but the barista helped me out and took my order. She answered all of questions. They have a few tables to sit down at. The shop is clean and well lit. Overall, I would recommend MACU tea. I can't really say much because I only tried one drink, but my first impression was good enough for me to come back.

We ordered on the self kiosk and the service was fast since we were the only ones in the store to order. It was bright and had couple of spots to sit at. The drinks were tasty, refreshing, and delicious. I enjoyed all the drinks we ordered.

Local boba place in the heart of downtown Pasadena. It has a big variety of topping and flavors. The best part of it is that they give a strap for each cup! Soo carrying it will be soo much easier as you continue to shop in old town. I tried the boba milk tea and it was ok. But I say it is a pass. The brown sugar milk tea was great! This is definitely a win. The king of mango....def amazing! Have to try! All in all, it's a great little boba place that's good and prices are reasonable.

They continue to experiment with flavors (a new favorite is the Matcha Jasmine latte) Perennial favorites: Pandan Latte (they somehow make the best flavored one here, even though there are now several coffee shops in the area that make this drink. I believe they might be the OG). Matcha latte (they make theirs unsweetened, and for purists, this is perfect!) I need to talk about their Ube foam here. You can add it to any drink (I like topping my pandan lattes with it--it's a perfect flavor blend!) It is decadent, sweet, and creamy, and yes, makes your drink a dessert! While other shops also make Ube cream tops, Dash's Ube foam is the best one by a large margin when it comes to taste and texture. The shop space is cozy and clean, with indoor and outdoor seating. There is customer turnover, but sometimes it's not fast, so a few times, I've had to take my drinks to go even though I had planned to stay a while if seating allowed--obviously others enjoy the vibe here as well!

I ordered 4 chocolate croissants, 3 Monkey Breads, 2 Kouign Amanns, and a partridge....sorry. Wrong song. 1 chocolate bar and a cappuccino. So far I've had a Kouign Amann and the cappuccino. The cappuccino may be the best I've ever had. I don't know what kind of coffee they use, but it was very smooth. That alone is worth the trip. AND, my barista did a cute milk art on top. The Kouign Amann was AMAZING. Layered and flaky I confess I ate the whole thing! I can't wait until I can try the other 2 things I've purchased. After all, the chocolate croissant was the primary reason for going. Now for the negatives: Management should figure out a way for more than one person to take orders and box them up. Even Mom & Pop donut shops often have multiple people taking orders. And Porto's has it down to a science. It would go a long way toward clearing the line faster. My second issue was the price. Quality is expensive. I get it. And I'm fortunate enough to be able to splurge for a treat like this. But with a small tip added to my total I spent just shy of $100! Not something I can do every week. But I would encourage you to save your nickels and check them out!

The masses & self-proclaimed coffee enthusiasts want "strong/bold" coffee but they themselves don't even understand what that means! Youngsters want to drink their iced lattes all the while pretending to be grown ups and/or be part of some trendy shop. they take 100s of pictures of the same latte and finally post one to their intriguing Instagram story. Why? Because trendy, duh! Thank God for Sherry Gao and the undeniably talented team at Mandarin & Mandarin 2. THESE KIDS ARE BONAFIDE COFFEE PROFESSIONALS!!!! They have phenomenal coffee pedigree! If you are familiar with my senseless ramblings, or so-called "reviews", you will notice that this one lacks my customary per item ratings and elaboration. This is intentional. Considering the subject matter of coffee, I simply cannot and will not write about "how good this latte is", etc. With all due respect, I drink spro, and almost always only spros at shops that actually know what they are doing (with an occasional deviation of a spro & some milk or something else interesting to my palate at the moment). So yeah, if you must know, Mandarin 2 is THEE PLACE for coffee. And to all the iced latte experts, please do spare us your expert opinion on coffee.

This place is for someone who wants to try something new and interesting…read more I'm not Chinese or Asian so these flavors were new to me. I got the seasonal coconut latte and I liked the espresso it was smooth and creamy. My mother got their latte with the milk tea and I personally liked it but she wasn't very happy with it. The baristas weren't accommodating about substitutions or offering to make a new drink. Each business has a right to run it the way they want but be warned that you kind of have to commit to trying something you may not like. This place gives an either you like our drinks or just don't come back type of vibe. They don't really seem to care about appeasing you. Do with that information what you will.
