We originally came here for an Ube boba craving and were disappointed to find out after the fact that they were all out of the Ube/purple yam and most of the boba/jelly toppings. They didn't have many ingredients or were out of flavors and weren't informed until after we ordered and paid. I ordered the mango coconut with 50% sugar which was weirdly milky and tasted sour. It had a weird synthetic milk taste with more than half of the cup filled with some type of weird tasting foam or milky froth. Less than half of the drink had what I'm assuming was the yellow mango liquid and because they also ran out of the toppings, I ended up with lychee and milk pudding. My sister ordered the peach drink with 100% sugar and even her's tasted more like a strong green tea and matcha than peach. The place has limited seating and a little corner with flowers for pic ops. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and ordered at the kiosk. I had an ube brown sugar boba and taro milk and my friend had the purple yam cheese smoothie. There were a few customers ahead of us and the drinks took about 10 minutes to come out. There are 7 tables in this shop and they had a backdrop to take pics which was cute. While the drinks had a vibrant purple color, the taste was very mild. There was only a very faint taro taste in my drink and the bobas were slightly hard. I thought the drink was pretty good. It was smooth and the tea was nice. Honeydew Milk Tea, $4.50 prior to tax- My husband ordered this drink to be made with 50% sweetener and no ice like me. He liked his drink (I didn't try any). -------------------------------- (Total= $10.20 after tax) We were the only ones inside when we ordered and when we left. It took a little less than 10 minutes for both our drinks to be made. While we waited, I used the restroom. The single restroom was clean and also I liked the color of the walls painted inside. Went to a festival they catered at and tried their Matcha Latte and Passion Fruit Green Tea. The matcha was basically just milk with how pale it was, tasted like it, too. My friend recommended Moo Tea for our post-dinner hangout. On a Friday around 7pm, it was pretty empty. They have a weekday special (M-F) where you can buy one get one 50% off if you pay with cash! I never carry any cash, but luckily my friend did. Our 2 drinks came out to $8.83 total - what a deal! My friend got a yakult drink and I think he liked it because he finished it all. I tried their #1 purple potato milk and thought it was very underwhelming. The cup make it look like they don't skimp on the purple potato, but what they really do is just shmear it on the sides, but the content is mostly milk. I only drank about 20% of it and couldn't really finish it. At 50% sweet, it was still a bit too sweet and even with regular ice, the milk gets warm very quickly. San Gabriel Valley is home to tons of boba places and the competition is fierce! We stopped by Moo Tea during our trip and was pleasantly surprised by how this mom and pop shop fared against competition. Let's get to it. FOOD We ordered two drinks: their specialty the Purple Yam Milk, and then the Peach Tea with Yakult Foam. The Purple Yam Milk is their #1 drink and for good reason. It's very refreshing for the soon to be summer heat and they don't skimp on the purple yam. Just be careful if your stomach is sensitive to dairy, because this is a lot of milk. The Peach Tea with Yakult Foam is also very refreshing and perfect for a hot day. Between these two, I actually would prefer the Peach Tea since it fits my palette better, but it's all up to you! SERVICE There were two people working when we were there. You can either place your order at the counter or you can use the kiosk at the entrance. Menu is located above the counter and they also have screens on the side that show their top drinks. When your drink is ready, they will call your number and leave your drink on the counter. COST By far, the best part of Moo Tea is the price! The purple yam milk is only $5 for a tall drink! There is no other place that can match these prices. Get pre-2020 prices here before they raise their prices to match the area! They also have weekday specials. Can't remember what it was, but I think it was buy one, get a second one 50% off. Great for high schoolers in the area. SETTING Based on what I've seen, it looks like the owners are revamping the place. There's a nice art wall for you to take photos by. Each table also has a cool Moo Tea acrylic piece to help your photos (it's what I did). Lots of lighting here and about 4-5 tables to relax while you drink your tea. It's a pretty lowkey boba shop hidden behind a towering CVS, and although I've been to SGV countless times for boba, this place never caught my attention until now.
