If you know me, you know I am completely obsessed with duck shit tea. And for the millionth time: no, there is no duck or manure in it! It's actually a premium Phoenix Dancong oolong known for its ridiculously sweet, floral aroma. Legend has it the original tea farmer made up the name so rivals wouldn't steal his secret crop. My previous go to spot for this tea closed down, but Pawfect Drinks, a small husband and wife run shop in San Gabriel, has officially taken its place. They use fresh fruit, never skimp on ingredients, and have plenty of seating if you want to hang out, study, or play board games. It's open daily from noon to 10 PM, and it isn't just approved by me, my very strict, hard to please Asian mom gives it two thumbs up, too. Here's my go-tos: Duck Shit Lemon Tea: They hand muddle fresh lemon right into the brewed oolong. While they don't use perfume lemons, this is still easily one of the best duck shit lemon teas in the area. Durian Smoothie: If you love durian, do not skip this. You can get standard durian or durian avocado. They use real Thai durian and are extremely generous with the portion. It's thick, creamy, and packed with actual fruit on top of fruit. Strawberry Chinese Yogurt Shake: Move over, Erewhon! This easily rivals the Hailey Bieber smoothie at a fraction of the cost. The Chinese yogurt adds a delicious, tangy creaminess, and you can swap in coconut milk if you're dairy free. It's loaded with probiotics and works wonders for digestion. They also offer mango, banana, dragon fruit, and hawthorn options. Lychee Sparkling Soda: Super refreshing, light, and packed with lychee jelly and chia seeds. Perfect for a hot afternoon. With so many massive boba chains dominating the SGV, I love supporting a local mom and pop spot doing things right. read more

Never came here when it was CiTea but finally tried them as Pawfect Drinks. First, they are a bit off the beaten path which I actually like. Parking in back and on residential street. They open late (10 pm) and have a very inviting interior that encourages people to sit down and lounge. For the durian lovers out there (not me)... they have durian offerings for you between durian or durian/avocado. I tried the Banana Yogurt Shake. I've had the purple rice yogurt shake before from other yogurt drink yogurt shakes offered and since I like bananas, I had to try it. And, WOW, this was really good!!! Both were really yummy but we both liked the mango more bc of the flavor and it was thicker, more yogurt like. Peach one I find a little too sweet and artificial. #116 in my Teaholic Diaries. I first tried Pawfect Drinks through postmates, and I liked it so much that I made it a point to stop by. Out of the few drinks I've tried so far, the magnolia oolong milk tea was my favorite. The magnolia flavor was prominent without being overpowering, and it meshed well with the oolong tea base. I also enjoyed the sparkling grape, which tasted like grape candy. Both drinks were delicious, but I should have adjusted the sweetness on the sparkling grape - it's SUPER sweet as is. I'll definitely be noting that for next time. Most recently I tried their duck oolong milk tea (aka Dan cong oolong aka phoenix oolong), which is my favorite type of oolong tea. The version here was solid, though I still prefer the versions at Tatys and Ryu. Having work near this Citea location is a bit dangerous for me. I often order off either Hungry Panda or Fantuan. This place was the gateway for the app for me honestly. I love they have many drinks that I have never heard of and it was interesting and worth trying. Walking in, you can see a fridge on the left of the entrance and they are filled with a selection of a few drinks that you can pick up for $3!! If you do a social media post about this place, you are given a little teapot that has been going on social media recently. The workers are always attentive here and always greeting you. Personally, I love the lychee oolong drink here as well as the duck poop tea. I thought it was pretty good but not my "cup of tea" It was more of a limeade I would say. We came here after lunch to get the special cup that they supposedly have based on the other reviews, where there is a little teapot that spits out "smoke." Spoiler alert: They did not have it :( Otherwise, it seems their claim to fame might be CBD-infused drinks which we did not try. We ended up getting a few drinks including duck sh*t milk oolong milk tea with boba. We did end up getting 1 level less sweet and less ice. I think the level sweetness we ended up getting was perfect for us. I thought this milk tea tasted like a standard black milk tea but I can definitely appreciate that it is oolong. I also ended up getting a fruit tea that had pieces of peach in there. The tea was very refreshing and fragrant. I added sakura agar boba and it added an extra nice chewy texture. I got this drink also 1 level less sweet, but I would get it full sweetness next time so that when the ice melts it a bit, the fruit flavor would be more prominent. Of note, the ice had a weird taste to it when it melted into my drink. Other things I noticed...if you want to order CBD infusion to your drink, I believe you have to order the "chill" in your drink. They offer interesting options like durian, as well. As far as the ambiance... -The shop has a cute turtle tank at the front with two turtles. -The shop is also very spacious, with plenty of seating. However, it was (somewhat) surprisingly empty inside. There was 1 food delivery person who did come through when we were there. -Fair amount of parking outside on the side, not really a dedicated parking lot One of my family members had a little spill and they went back into the shop to get napkins. Every drink is pretty solid and a good value! On this occasion, the owners(?) saw our Pomeranian and were visibly excited. I've been working hard to tone down my boba habit due to the usual sugar and syrups in the drinks. The one exception for me, where I do not feel guilty afterward, is Citea. They use fresh fruit in their drinks - including exotic choices like ube and durian. You can also order low sugar or no sugar. I've been to the other branch on Valley Blvd. and ordered the coconut drink, which is awesome. At this branch I ordered the passion fruit drink which has chopped and sliced fruits. I added the barley popping boba which provides texture and a nutty flavor. Just delicious. The parking is easier at this branch and the tablet pre-order makes it fast and easy.
