This Macy's seriously lacks in quality customer service. The whole time I was shopping with my friend, they kept following us around like we were going to steal something. Mind you, all we had were our phones and tiny bags so I'm hoping those assholes didn't think we were going to steal something some other magical way. They were gossiping, sitting on counters, and texting on their phones. They also looked us up and down like we were homeless people walking in a "Nordstrom-like haven". If only they had such a standard... They need to increase their quality because it was already pretty empty when I was in there and it's fucking summer. They really have the worst customer service. I waited at the jewelry (watch) counter for over 90 minutes with no help. I walked around and even asked for help and was told someone would be right with me. After so long of waiting I decided to leave and drive to another Macy's, which I was helped quickly at. They either need to hire more employees, or train their current employees on customer service. read more

We ordered two couches last February and they just came available this week. They were to be delivered today and we told them we could not be there til 1. The sales person told us he called and had it switched for us, this morning my husband gets a call at 9:30 they were on our way. We were an hour away and would not make it and he told us he will see what he can do. My husband said it was switched to a later delivery. The dispatch called us her name was Jennifer and was the rudest person ever and said they will not be coming back since we were to be there this morning. We can't believe how rude she was and are so disappointed after waiting this long for these sofas after they have been delayed and delayed. I have tried to talk to Macy's but you can never get anyone to help. I will be spreading this type of service to everyone we know, and on top of that they said they can't deliver now until August 3!! I live right down the street from this Macy's but will travel to the Scottsdale Fashion Square for better service and clothing choices. The service at the Gilbert location is terrible. As I was waiting at the cashier, an elderly woman with a cane was in front of me being helped by the cashier, the elderly woman had grabbed the wrong size and the cashier told her to go and get the right size, then she proceeded to talk to the other patron and cashiers, one cashier was not helping anyone. I could see if there were only one cashier and a line but there were 3 and no one offered to get the right size for this poor lady who obviously needed help. I truly want to support stores in the town I live in, but this was the last straw. Will not be back. read more

Everyone is so friendly, in particular, Myra in the Impulse department. She's always friendly and has a good eye for fashion. She has no problem telling me what looks good on me and what doesn't. She's never pressured me into buying anything and for that I keep going back - been over 2 years. I love this location. It's always so clean and the layout is easy on the eyes. I don't get overwhelmed when I walk in. I agree with others when the selections are as big as other locations but their level of customer service by far stand out. Having a Starbuck's at this location and a handful of coupons is always a good day. read more

The store is clean and nicely laid out, and it's easy to find the department you're looking for. They have all the necessities, but not nearly enough variety. Of course, I'm just slightly biased coming from San Francisco where the women's Macy's store is 7 floors, and the men's and children's store is across the street. The location in the San Tan mall is where I normally go since it's closest to where I live, but I do make the drive to the Chandler mall if I need more of a selection. read more

I bought a Michael Kors coat for my 11 yr old son at the Macys Fashion Square. They sent me to this store to exchange the medium coat for a small. The guy was a complete asshole doing the exchange!!! After paying $180 he Tells us we can't wear the jacket out of the store or security will tackle us. That is the rudest thing to say! Worst Macy's I've ever been to. Store is a damn mess, got misdirected 3 times to men's cologne, cosmetics sales people are nowhere to be found, perfume section is in a state of complete disarray, trashed sample cards everywhere, zero clean sample cards to be found, no salesperson in sight even as I am walking around clearly looking for help for 15+ mi...I was so pissed that I asked to speak to a manager rather than writing a bad review but she was fucking rude and didn't even apologize. She says, "It's just that it's the holidays." No shit lady, but the other Macy's seemed to know Christmas was coming same time as it does every year. I have never had such a bad experience at Macy's. I walked out not having bought the $100 cologne I was trying to purchase and now I have to go out of my way to find another store. Waste of my fucking time. I actually like this Macy's although I haven't been there in awhile. It's not as large as some and can't offer as many selections, but they always seem to have what I want. A very pleasant woman named Janice checked me out. She was quick and efficient and even smiled. Since I was here before they have moved the checkout stations to the exits. The only reason this Macy's gets 2 stars at all is because it's actually a very nice, clean store, and 90% of the racks you see are organized, those are the reasons for the 2 stars. The reason I can't give more is the sloooooooowwwwwww registers. I've been here three times in the past two months and every single time I'm waiting at the very least 20 minutes to check out, literally I'm the second person in line all three times I've been here and it takes 20 minutes. I've worked retail I know that patience is a virtue, but seriously it's not like it was busy it was me and the one checking out. I was really disappointed when I went to Macy's last week. I went prom dress shopping with my sister and we found 2 dresses that she loved. We decided to buy both of them so that we could take them both home to get my parents' opinions. I went to return one of the dresses, with the original receipt, and they told me that I could only get partial store credit and partial cash. Apparently because my sister had used her Visa giftcard to pay for the dress, they wouldn't give me cash for that portion of the return and would only give me store credit. The only reason they are even getting 2 stars is because I was able to find a few decently priced things after I shopped just about every rack in the store. The return policy on the receipt says that a return for cash can be made if you have the original receipt. Apparently there is some "fine print" that they didn't bother actually printing. read more

I came into Macy's for a suit. It was later in the day, so I was rushing to get what I needed before the store closed. I didn't quite make it though, as I just ran out of time. The women who were helping me said not to worry about it, and continued to assist me until I had absolutely everything I needed. They were so courteous and helpful, especially Lucy & Lucille. I've shopped here many times, but I was apalled at the way I was recently treated while Christmas shopping. I was in the store shopping for my husband and nephew. In one hand I had bags from purchases made at other stores, and in my other arm I was juggling my purse, a fountain drink, and a shirt I was planning to purchase in-store. I didn't have a free hand to shop, so I approached a young sales rep at a register in the men's department and politely asked her if I could have a paper shopping bag (the one with handles) so I could merge my stuff into one bag and free up a hand to shop. She hesitated while looking me up and down and then informed me that I would have to make a purchase before I could have a bag. I was irritated that Macy's couldn't spare a .20 cent bag to ease my Christmas shopping experience but I was even more incensed at the way the sales rep looked at me, as though I was going to try to stuff something in the bag I hadn't paid for. Obviously, with a Dillards bag and a Disney store bag in hand I was making purchases that day. I put the shirt back on the rack that I was planning to buy and left the store and finished my shopping for the boys at Dillards and Dicks. I am a business professional and I work in sales. The entire sales team in our company just finished reading "The Customer Rules" by Lee Cockerell. I recommend Macy's invest in a similar plan for their sales team. They need to learn how to create a welcome environment for their customers and go above & beyond to provide exemplary service. I am a frequent customer at this Macy's location and usually the customer service is satisfactory. Today, however, I was very disappointed in my shopping experience. I had my children with me, and none of the sales associates greeted me or asked if I needed any assistance. When I was ready to check out, nobody was there to help. I waited for a while and then I heard a sales associate yelling at my son and speaking rudely to my daughters, who were sitting on a couch waiting for me. This one is smaller than most Macy's and is only one level but I really love the layout and the selection here. Every time i go I am able to find a bunch of things I want AND a lot of them end up being on sale so that's nice. Other than that though it's very typical in the ways of Macy's - friendly staff, clean quiet store, good sales, nice stuff, etc etc. I recommend checking out this location though. :D read more

I am surprised to see so many low ratings. I have always found that macys is very customer service oriented. I usually shop biltmore or scottsdale and they treat me like i am a VIP. The girls in shoes at biltmore are friendly and more than helpful. I have never had any major issues an i have probably shopped there a few hundred times and that is over a 15 year timespan. I am always able to hold items for 24 hrs if i cant pay or decide that very day which is helpful. I love their extended hours during sales and great promo codes to get even more deals than reduced prices marked BTW whoever bought the boots and complained ur story sounds ridiculous if you dont have the merchandise why on earth would u expect to get refund yes its annoying to have to travel with unnecessary items but come on , If they believed every sob story like that then they would be out of business and scammers would be laughing to no end. macys got my vote DILLARDS on the other hand your customer service is by far the worst your sales people are miserable unhappy rude people , macys xoxo read more
