Macy's is the one clothing store that I like shopping at. My husband and I came here and immediately went to the Backstage area of the store. I love looking through the selection to see what bargains I can find. I ended up leaving with much more than I expected. I found great deals on shoes, socks, underwear, and holiday items. This is a great place to shop for Christmas gifts. The only negative was that the fitting room in the area was roped off. I highly recommend Macy's, especially the Backstage area, for great bargains!

    Macys Gurnee, Illinois store!

The Gurnee Macys store is absolutely disgusting . Not sure what happened but this use to be a favorite spot to shop for trendy, classy clothes for plus size women and others. It has now turned into a T-shirt and jeans casual variety. You have to hunt through all the other departments to try and find nice plus size dresses or trendy casual outfits by INC, Calvin Klein, Vince Camino, Anne Klein, etc. now all I see are old lady sweatshirts, jeans, and t-shirts ... seriously Macys this is the best you can do? The gurnee store is particularly filthy! (See pics below). I was disgusted to see this quality of a store in Gurnee. We would be better off shopping at Target, TJ Maxx or Marshall's, at least the stores would be cleaner and neater. The Macys Brand at this store is subpar and management needs to do better!

But since they were not very busy, we were helped by the formal wear manager, Dave. He was very friendly, easy going and fun to work with. I would recommend him to anyone looking to get fitted. He gave us suggestions and what styles would work with what. We went with the Vera Wang Tux for the wedding. The slim fit fitted well on my Fiance. Since my bridesmaids color is Tiffany Blue, the Gray went perfectly with the color (for the groomsmen). Depending on the designer and add ons, ours came out to be about $200ish for 1 tux rental. The whole process took about 30mins since i already have a few tux styles picked out for him to try. Before you leave, they require a $40 deposit (groom only) to secure the date and rentals with everyone. Each groomsmen will have to pay a $20 deposit. I will update this again once the wedding is over!

We have worked with the older gentleman before, and he has always been fantastic and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he was working with another customer and was not able to assist us. We got a young man that finally came over to help. His attitude was demeaning, and he acted like he was being inconvenienced by our presents. We were told by the older gentleman when he walked by to get the other customer something that if we needed suits to be altered before three weeks' time that they could not do it and that we would need to take them to a tailor in the mall or over to the Vernon Hills location for alterations. After working with the younger man and feeling demeaned by him we had our suits and ties, but not the other needed items. We waited at the checkout counter for a good amount of time to purchase our items, but no one came up to check us out. We finally left the merchandise on the counter and left feeling demeaned and very mad/upset about the whole experience and wanted to not get what the needed. We went to the Vernon Hills location and had a wonderful experience working with a gentleman named Ken, he got us everything we needed, and our suits will be ready on time. It renewed our faith in customer service and the time and care needed to help men that might be coming in out of their comfort zone of having someone evaluating their fit and sizing as they get fitted for an expensive purchase. In the end, Gurnee you need to do better. Vernon Hills nicely done!

H&M - Clothing for both ladies & gents!

And like many there are things to improve. But when looking at the bigger picture, it is affordable and it offers things you usually pay double on other stores.

H&M is a great addition to Gurnee Mills. This Swiss clothing discounter is akin to the IKEA of…read moreretailing: quality is good but styling is superb. H&M really has their finger on the pulse of fashion trends and they bring them at an amazingly low price point. From socks ($17.95 for 10 pairs) to sunglasses ($10 a pair), I rely on H&M to deliver the goods. I had my sunglasses on a few weekends ago and my friend asked, "Where'd you get those fancy designer shades?" How cool is that? I've gotten a stylish navy blue trench coat there and found shorts on sale for amazing prices. Yesterday I found a great pair of lounging shorts for $5! I spotted a very cool cowl neck cotton pullover for my partner which was just in as well. At $29, it looked just like the one that sells for $195 at Allsaints Spitalfields or James Perse. From time to time, they will partner with high-end designers to bring a special capsule collection to the store. Right now, they're featuring French designer Isabel Marant. In the past, they've had collections by Viktor & Rolf, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garçons, Matthew Williamson and Sonia Rykiel. Of course, if you want to feel like sports royalty, you can find the underwear collection by David Beckham there as well. People have mentioned that lines can be long here, which is true. It's the trade off you pay for getting this merchandise. As for help on the floor, the people who work here are helpful if you can find one available. I don't mind about this so much. These aren't deal breakers for me. I've also gone here to pick up gifts for friends around their birthdays and the holidays. I always find really fun gifts from purses to hats to jewelry. It's hip and inexpensive. I love H&M.

They are a favorite place to stop on First Fridays, when I can hardly get in the door! And the stream of new and fun fashions and accessories is non-stop. Service is friendly and personal, too. Still one of my favorite stops. This is like shopping in a dear friend's great closet. Although the store is tiny, the variety always surprises me, and the service can't be beat. I find interesting items I find nowhere else, and while their prices are consistent with other stores, their sale items make them more affordable. There is even a comfortable place to sit! I have purchased tops, purses, outerwear, scarves, jewelry, and other items. Easy to miss since it is north of Casa Bonita and before the train tracks, up a couple of stairs. But with such a uniquely-vintage location and terrific items and service, it is worth the extra steps. Easy parking right in front, or in the copious parking lots around the corner on Lake Street. No I do not work for them - I am just a huge fan and want to be sure they stay in town!
