Rebecca the manager was totally amazing tonight. We had ordered many sets of China and glassware online and when it came it was the wrong style. Eight boxes full! It barely all fit in my Prius! After I walked in with one box and told them about the situation they contacted Rebecca and she had me repark right out front, they helped me load the boxes onto a dolly and did the whole return on the first floor. I was out in record time and they made it so painless. I can always count on both the main and men's stores to appease my shopping urges. They have great dress and lingerie departments, which carry bra sizes that are hard to find elsewhere. But I think they are lacking in the shoe department (compared to Valley Fair). I went with my dad and with Cal to get their suits at men's store, and both times the customer service was stellar. Five star for the men's store, three for the main...so it averages four. read more

I miss the old juniors department - they even had hip business clothes. Now you can either shop at the skank-tastic "This Is It" juniors area downstairs, the middle aged women's area upstairs, or the ugly designer clothes that cost more than you make a week area, also downstairs. Really nice macys to shop at. It has 3 floors and alot to select from. I went there to but sunglasses from the sunglass hut boutique and got a great pair of blue polarized Lauren glasses. I found out you can use your macy's coupons with the full priced items! Hardly anything full priced works with coupons and I was so happy! =] So great trip! =] read more

I work close to the Stanford Shopping Mall so I stop by during lunch hour or after work if I needed somethings. This Macy's has more selection of dresses than other locations. As for the sales event - normally you'll find good stuff with inexpensive price. They always have special promotions so I never have to pay for normal price. We bought 3 men's suits and paid for alterations. One had been altered incorrectly. We were told that was because they were sent to Southern California (?). They said that their regular tailor was better, but when I call to make an appointment with her, nobody answers the phone anywhere in the Men's Department. Before my trauma with Macy's, this was one of my favorite places to go clothes shopping. The selection is good for a men's store: there's stuff for men of all ages and creeds of life. Good pants are abundant, and the shoe selection is very good. Sometimes it's a bit expensive, but definitely worth one's while. read more

Shitty customer service. I was looking for help purchasing a gift during Christmas and was willing to pay good money for it. I looked around and waited while at the Chanel counter in Macy's but nobody could be found. I did happen to go to another counter and asked a person if there was someone who could help me and ring me up for a gift and the person helped me but only after I asked as she was watching me waiting. She was not that helpful and acted if I was keeping her from something more important than making a sale....isn't that the business she is in...SALES?! I got it because it was an important gift and the Macy's at Valley Fair had worse service. I will not shop there again. At least have someone there to help you, who cares! read more

Not a fan of this Macy's. It has a great location but they have a very limited selection in my opinion.

This store needs to upgrade its staff. The shoe department drives me crazy. They're not helpful at all and you can stand around holding three pairs of shoes and they will still walk right on by. The general organization of that department is messy, especially if they're having a shoe sale. I've even seen trash left in the chairs and had to move in order to try on a pair of shoes. On another occasion, I witnessed the supervisor in the petites section talk down to and demean her salesperson right in front of us as she was ringing me up. I wanted to step in because I felt so bad for the woman. All in all, I hate that this is the Macy's closest to my home. It's very frustrating. If they don't shape up soon, I'm going to start driving to SF or SJ. read more

This is for the kitchen department. I went to ask the desk for help. I stood there as 2 girls behind the desk carried out a conversation. Instead of waiting for them to be polite and acknowledge me I interrupted them. I asked them where I could find this buffet item om sale. They lazily pointed to the appliances and said if they had it, it would be there. I told them I looked already. They looked to see if they had one on their computer. They said they had one left and went to go look for it. She came back and said she couldn't find it. My sister who used to work for macys let me know that if macys doesn't have something they will order it for you and waive the shipping over $50. I waited for the associate to let me know and to offer. She just stared at me with a stupid expression. So my sister informed her and she said yea we do, okay. As she was ordering my item I was looking at the payment pad and bought to her attention that the price should be $10 more. I showed her correct price on my phone using the macys website. She couldn't care less. I made sure the item code was the same and let them know I should be charged more. I did my part so forget that. and If you are working at macys, dress a little more professional, and overall don't look so bored and clueless. Also, dont act like you are hanging out with your friend in a gym or cafeteria line at school. Acknowledge people and ask what they need assistance with. read more

My brother and I went to macy's to purchase some stuff for me on HIS macys card. My brother asked the sales associate if I can use his macys card to purchase my stuff. The reason he asked this question because I had a coupon that day. the associate agreed and he asked my brother and I to enter our information on the pad, and we simply did, we thought he is going to issue me like an authorization or temp card. what happened is that we received two NEW macys cards (joint accounts) after ten days by mail. We did NOT know that we just applied for a new macys card that day!! and no body mentioned it to us in anyway. my brother in law called the store and complained but as usual, no body cares, they offered us a $25 gift card !!! (look how cheap) but we refused, because non of us wanted a hard inquiry on our credit, we requested to close that account and we shred our cards. That was our bad experience at that branch, associates mess with customer's credit to get a credit or bonus (whatever). read more

Try to avoid the Men's Macys store. Horrible service, snooty attendants and curt employees. They will only attend to you if you are dressed like you are going to the opera. The shoe department is worse. You have to wait forever for someone to help you with the sizes. Once helped, you have to wait again for someone else to ring you up. Makes you feel like crap on top of paying heavy prices for the items you intend to buy. Spare yourself some grief and go to Sunnyvale or valley fair. read more

Is there is a new policy in Macy's Women Shoes Dept at Stanford? A Middle age Sales Associate with long black hair refused to help ring up the purchase when I said I was helped by another young associate. I was in the area looking for shoes for 20 minutes and she never offered help. She said that they worked on commissions and asked me to find the gentleman. I was asking around for the gentleman who was at the back helping other customers to look for shoes. It took me a while to ask for help. The store was not very busy and I didn't find much help until the young associate came out from the back to help the purchase. It's advisable that Macy's should improve customer service. read more

On a unplanned last minute thanks giving shopping, we stopped by Macy's. They had excellent door buster deals. I ended up buying cookware which was totally unexpected but even till date that's the best deal I could get wooohhoooo....., several tops, footwear gosh I ended up applying for a credit card the same evening. The rep. who was helping us was so helpful. Overall a great shopping experience. My husband even got himself some clothes and perfumes. Personally, Macy's is my favorite department store and I have been in more Macy's (Macy'ses? Macy'ss?) than I care to admit. This one has a GREAT junior's department in terms of selection -- there are always a ton of sales and the dressing room never has a line BUT some of the salespeople I've encountered are downright incompetent. The shoe department has a pretty poor selection, and the service is passable. The cosmetics people aren't too pushy, which I really appreciate. And just in general, it's on the more expensive side (there's an "Impulse" section and there are definitely more designer items in the Jewelry and Accessories departments). I had the worse experience at Macy's. I used to shop at Macy's all the time and it seems to be declining I. Customer service. I went to go look for a watch as a gift. It took a long time for me to get help. Three Macy's employees walked by me and completely ignored me. I thought because this Macy's was in Palo Alto the quality of Customer service would be better. If anything it's the worst I experienced. I asked to look at watches and was told that I wouldn't be interested because they are too expensive. This was incredibly rude. I was wearing nice dark jeans, a black turtle neck, my hair was styled and was wearing making so its not like I looked unprofessional. I came during my lunch. I decided on watch and the employees are not careful with their jewelry. They slam it and when I purchase the watch the employee packing it for me dropped it twice. I rushed back to work and that's when I noticed the scratches on the watch from when the employee dropped it. I went back to return it. Again I was ignored. I got there first and the employee ignored me and went straight to the white Customers. I feel that they are treating me this way because of my ethnicity. I finally got someone to help me and I returned the watch. Never again am I buying anything from Macy's. read more

What can I say about Macy's that hasn't already been said? It's a great place, not as pricey as nordstrom's but their stuff is just as good. As always, I'm drawn to the MAC counter...ladies and their makeup, eh? That can get expensive when you're dropping 15 to 20 dollars for one color of eyeshadow. I've more or less given up on Macy's but I had some coupons here so I came into browse and ended up having a great experience. Long story short, the 2 staff members who helped me were both really accommodating and kind. They honored my coupons which had expired the day prior and they convinced me to apply for a macys card! This review is for the wedding registry service. My fiance and I signed up for a Macy's registry. The top floor had plenty of bedding, bathroom, and kitchen stuff to keep us busy for a few hours. We got a cool scanner gun to scan items around the store and can edit our list online. So, no complaints here! read more
