We came here to browse the Levi's section. Valley Fair does have a dedicated Levi's brand store but the Macy's actually has a way bigger men's jeans collection in a more organized fashion and also...for a better price! I'm not sure why anyone would pick the Levi's store over Macy's. We spent well over an hour here picking out different styles, sizes, and colors. A few times the dressing room door locked itself and the staff were really great helping us unlock the doors multiple times to try on more clothing. read more

Macy's has gotten so bad. Not enough employees to keep up with the mess both in the stores and in the dressing rooms. You have to sometimes go downstairs to pay because you cannot find a cashier upstairs. I think Walmart is, even more, organized than this place and the stuff is no better than Walmart's but with a high price markup. read more

2 stars for having a clean store, otherwise the service is awful. Strike one: Went here to return some things bought online, and we couldn't find where to return stuff, asked someone and he just shook his head and said he didn't know.. Strike two: Waited at a checkout line (because that's where I've returned stuff in the past) with a Macy's bag clearly from the online store, and clearly looking to return stuff. Got up to the cashier and she said to go downstairs. Thanks for making me wait in line to tell me.. Strike three: The guy that processed the return was wearing a red GAP hoodie. Like, seriously? Macy's has no dress code? Maybe "don't wear competitor's clothing" should be one? He also had his left ear filled up with an airpod. I'm sure he was super attentitive. Strike four (the game's over already..): Many of the cashiers were not wearing masks. The county highly recommends them, and there's a sign on the door that highly recommends them, but they cannot lead by example? Yes, we're in a free country, but don't tell us to wear masks if none of the associates have to. Not coming back here. What is going on here? This alterations women is out of control. I'm in line returning a suit and she comes up to the cashier and says "the Mexican guy is getting these two". I ask her, how do you know he's Mexican? He could be anything and you shouldn't describe people by their ethnic background, especially when you're in customer service. She then says well he speaks Mexican. Uh what!? I told her I was offended and that I wouldn't describe her as that asian lady in suits; it's rude. She then follows me yelling at me saying I don't know. I turned around and told her she needed sensitivity training and if she kept following me yelling, I would tell her manager what she said. She said that she didn't care. What she said was between her and her coworker. I didn't end up buying the other items I needed. I actually had to sit in a chair to calm down and get this off my chest before I could drive off. I'm disgusted by her actions. I have been a member with Macy's since I worked here when I was 18, I'm now 37. This was bad, really bad. I will never come back to this store. read more

Attention to men's department, the customer service in the men's department is extremely disgusting, the sales associates brought with them their bad manners, awful customer service and sometimes they are indirectly fighting with you if you have a return or even asking a question. I am confident that the store manager or men's department manager is unqualified enough to manage the store/Store. Horrible service. Just terrible. I looked around the entire women's floor for an available changing room, couldn't find one. Instead I found women trying things on in the bathroom and over their clothes in the middle of the floor. I decided I'd just buy the clothes I picked out then return what didn't work. Until I couldn't find anyone to ring me up! I walked around the entire store for 20 mins and couldn't find anyone. The counters that I did find employees at told me that THEY WERE CLOSING UP and that I should go find somebody else. This happened 3x until I pretty much forced this woman to take my money. Macy's needs to hire more people or pay their workers properly. How is it mid November and there are only 3 people working on the women's floor?! Macy's in Valleyfair is only one of the few Macy's stores left here in the Southbay, heard they were closing because of low sales...I know it is part of business, but there are so many selections of items there not only for women, but also for men. I am reviewing only on the Men's department because obviously I am a man, but I can tell that they are doing a great job on the women's side as well. It is nice how the clothes there are abundant, not to mention affordable. Great example-today, found an Alfani jacket in great condition for $50.00, looks like it can be purchased for $$$, I kid you not. Look at my picture of it and tell me it is not awesome! The place is quite big, so you're going to have to take your time navigating the place, but if you are patient enough, you will find something you will like without breaking your bank! Also, I am a man who likes simple accessories; I really believe that a man should only have these accessories, nothing more: a watch, pocket square, tie/bowtie, belt, tie clip, handkerchief, swiss army knife, and a ring (if you are married-none if you aren't). I swear if this lady didn't stop asking me if I was ready to pay and being pushy I was going to embarrass her ass in front of everyone! I went in with a dress to match to a tie for my bf. Two of the associates could barely speak English but that's fine as they were a big help trying to find one to match my dress. Hooshang and I didn't catch the females name were extremely sweet and helpful. Unfortunately I went over to the section across to see if there was anymore ties to match. I was approached quickly by a man who appeared to be one of the department managers in a grey suit. He was with a shorter lady and they started asking me a million questions about the tie and what my bf was wearing and blah blah. I felt they were trying to insert themselves and take over the sale very rudely and shutting out the people who were actually helping me. The help would've been appreciated but you could tell the tension in the team and what they were trying to do...I also mentioned after being approached I was being helped and I was just looking.. The associate asked me are you ready to pay for that? I said no I'll let you know when I'm ready. In the mean time I got on FaceTime with my bf and showed him the tie. I'm obviously on the phone and she comes up. Are you going to pay for that? UGH. No! After I got off the phone she dared asked me a 3rd time and I pointed out how rude she was and walked up to Hooshang, gave him my feedback which he laughed like it was a usual thing that people say she's rude. I made sure the cashier acknowledged he helped me and she had nothing to do with it. Someone get some training done for these employees. The talent lense is a must! Just had the most incredible customer service in housewares at this Macy's. Signage was misleading and the associate (I thought her name would be on receipt, but unfortunately that isn't the case) went above and beyond to help us with our purchase of Calphalon pans. Not only was she incredibly patient and understanding, she worked with management to make a frustrating situation so much better. I wish I knew her name; thank you, Macy's Associate. I really do love Macy's as a department store because of the good stuff they sell and their prices. But for this one, my experience was really meh. I ordered some boots online that were on sale for pickup here. The people at the customer service/return/pickup counter were really really awkward and didn't have great customer service skills. I only realized an hour later that the shoe box was correct, but what was inside was not. So, I returned to the booth and told them. They returned the item for me, but said that I had to go to the shoe department myself to get the boots I wanted. So I go to the shoe section, got the boots I wanted, and they wanted to charge me full price (not the discounted price that I bought online) for it. I showed them the receipt and told them the situation, and after a few minutes of arguing, the salesperson finally succumbed and told me that I should have returned the boots here, not the Macy's customer service/return/pickup booth. TBH that ticked me off. As a customer, I should be able to return anything to the Macy's official return booth. The mistake was on Macy's part (me getting the wrong boots) and I just wanted the correct item that I paid for. This wasn't a great experience. For Macy's, I might stick with shopping online for the most part. read more

Placing orders 2 weeks prior to Christmas should be plenty of time for any retailer to get shipments to the customer before Dec 25th. I'm a Platinum Member at Macy's and every order I've placed this Christmas has been delayed!! The day the order is due to arrive m, the shipping date changes out to another 7 to 10 days in the future. I never would have placed all my Christmas orders with Macy's if I had known this was going to happen. Over the years, Macy's was one of my go to Department Stores. I visited Macy's Oakridge, San Jose, CA today. There are signs in the bedding and towels department 40% off with an additional 15% off with a Macy's Credit Card. It's very sad that I had to tell the cashier about multiple discounts in their department. What in the world is going on with Macy's. I tried to use my Macy's Credit Card which was still valid through 2024, but because I hadn't used the card in a while, the Macy's Credit Card was declined. I never got a notice that the card was closed over a year ago. I have been reading that Macy's has and will close more stores throughout the country. When they evidently refuse to hire more Customer Associates people will shop elsewhere or Online. P.S. In the past I was looking for a Dress Suit and after asking for assistance, they sent over a gentlemen from the Shoe Department. There wasn't a soul from Macy's in the Suit Department. This Macy's has the laziest people working here and don't bother to listen to your needs. My mom asked for short length pants and the customer service lady print out a tag for the same exact pant mom didn't want. They have too many old people working who are just tired and lazy. The lady in the Petite section couldn't do the exchange but customer service did. Overall Macy's quality of customer service has gone down in the last 10 years or so. Must warn you that Macy's mattress department is like working with the Keystone Cops. One problem after the next. Give your order in the store and they can't take it due to computer problems. Come back in a few days, same prob. Try to order the f------- mattress over the phone? You can try but it's like pulling the teeth of an idiot. Give your order to the person on the phone. They transfer you to someone to complete the order. That "someone" has no record of your order (which took about 1/2 hour to give to the last person. OMG what a zoo. Now, the $200 mattress cover, which zipper broke in the ordinary course of sleeping on the mattress, broke. I was fooling myself when I thought I could call Macy's and get a replacement. Oh, no no no. First, they have no record of the sale of a mattress, frame and mattress cover. After giving my telephone, no. After giving my name, no. "Oh, wait a minute, let me put you on hold. 10 minutes later, up comes the info. I tell them the zipper broke on the mattress cover. "Uh, You need to call the warranty service." Called them, they sent a link. I complete the info for the claim. "Oh, sorry, you need to call the store because this issue is covered within the store warranty." I call the store. . The guy in the mattress department at 1:45 pm on 11/16/2020 could not even give the telephone number correctly. It was staggering. He said it was "800, oh 888, 2 ten teen sixteen 9." After not understanding after 2 minutes he said he would transfer me. The recording was for sales items either purchased and/or not delivered!!!! Googled the number and it was 800-289-6229. OMG should I just f------- forget about cover??? These problems were only the tip of the iceberg. Believe me, you don't want to do business with these idiots. This is for all the poorly informed macy's employees over on the home side. My dad went and tried to buy a cooking pot. He had a gift card, so he proceeds to purchase. He had a wow pass for 10% off selected home purchases. And it all went downhill from there: Employee #1 informed my dad he can get a better discount by applying for a macy's credit card. My dad signs up. The stupid part is when he tried to make the purchase with the gift card and the credit card the idiot employee says you can't use a gift card combined with the credit card. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE. My dad leaves empty handed with the stupid employee enjoying her whatever $2 bonus for tricking my dad into a credit card. He comes home explaining his time wasted over at Macy's. I on the other hand, pissed off at the nonsense. (She did apologize to my dad for the cc sign up) I haul our butts over there and try to verify the policy. Tried to call their lame customer service--some service, no one picked up. Anywho, I go up to employee #2 to clarify the nonsense and she agreed with the first. She even said "yea, I know it doesn't make sense. Gift cards are technically cash." Fine, given that I got a straight answer I accepted, but THAT MAKES NO SENSE. (I was thinking if I ever buy a gift card for a macy's lover friend who happens to have a cc, it would be pointless) We waltz around browsing at the sales. Still pissed off I asked employee #3 over in bedding. And she flat out says yes you can. I explain to her what I was told and she said "it was like that before, but they changed it 5 months ago. Yes it's possible to buy with a cc and gift cert." Stunned at the answer, still doubtful, yet relieved that Macy's still has a conscience. I go over employee #4 & 5(busily gossiping) and ask yet again. And they both agree with #3. They even said "there's a way around it. We subtract the gift card first and you pay the remaining amount with cc." After finally getting their damn policy clarified through 5 employees, I'm glad I rarely shop at Macy's. Yes your displays are neatly organized and pretty, but if your employees can't be well informed why would I bother coming here. Macy's service sucks,sucks, sucks!!!! Did you know if you can not find your size at your local store...you are on your own to find it at another store???? They will not call for you anymore! Yes, they will look it up, and give you a stock number...but beyond that.... NOTHING! It is like they are all independent?? I spent 25 minutes trying to talk to a sales clerk here.....because they had the dress I wanted in the size I needed. Eventually, I hooked up with a manager...and she hooked me up with the right department....UFFDA!!! Then to add insult to injury, they would not waive the shipping charge....I guess I really wanted this...huh?? I am no longer sure, after all that hassle. But it was not available online...so there 'ya go!! I guess I was not clear, I was on the phone. This review is for Valley Fair's Junior clothing department. There is a really shady and rude female cashier (young Asian with really long hair). I came here to do some shopping, and then I saw a bunch of jackets on sale for $29.99. There was a whole bunch of red SALE signs displaying the $29.99. I found a brown jacket that I really liked from the $29.99 rack, and I took it to the register. The female cashier rang it up and the price was $49.99. I was a bit confused, so I told her I took it off the $29.99 rack. She went to check it out and she saw a lot of the same jacket on the rack. I noticed she grabbed a brown and black one back to the register. It looked like she was beginning to remove the jackets from the rack, because of the price mistake. When she rang up the black jacket, it was $29.99! However, she told me the brown jacket is not on sale even though it was on the $29.99 rack. She mentioned if there were more than 6 jackets with the same style, then she would give me the $29.99 sale price. I thought there was more than 6 jackets with the same style on the rack, but I didn't want to argue and cause a scene..lol. I decided to buy it anyway for $49.99. After I paid for the jacket, I went back to the rack to check out other jackets. I thought it was really strange that the female cashier was removing all the brown & black jackets, which was the same style as my jacket. Then I realized she was lying to me, since she was holding more than 6 jackets! (She took one brown back the first time, I had my brown jacket, and she was holding 4 more brown jackets). She probably had to remove all the black jackets, since they were showing up as the right sale price..lol. I really wanted to get a black jacket, but she took them all! I think she took the jackets and hid them in the back, which is really bad and shady! Anyway, I think it is shady how the workers don't stick to the sale prices. If there are a lot of the same style on that rack, then the customer should pay for that price. I didn't like how the Macy's female cashier was a bit rude to me, since I was right about the price. Low reviews? Poor Macy's. I don't know. I love this place especially during the holiday season when all the cool stuff comes in. Yeah, some things are not exactly cheap especially in the art department. I'm a big statue dude and this place sure has some really overpriced pieces of art. That's just me though. However, service has always been great. Never had any sort of problem. They are very attentive and are willing to go over the deals they have. They do have two major sales during the year, so that's your best bet when you want to buy a lot. They do push for a Macy's card, but that's fine. I rarely use it, but sometimes it can be advantageous. It's in Valley Fair which is become more and more "posh" with each passing day. So if you don't want to deal with people with their noses in the air, then don't come here. read more

She did the return and she did not give us all the receipts so of course we go back and ask her for it. She throws it at us and tells us "you guys signed for it". Wtf. This is a general review of Macy's at Valley Fair shopping center in Santa Clara. I had not been to Valley Fair in many years, and yesterday joined my wife on her shopping trip throughout the mall. First the good, My wife seemed surprised at the selection of clothing Macy's now carries. Some newer, upscale brands. Unfortunately, there were a few negatives. The overall cleanliness of the store, from its stained and worn carpets to its lack of salespeople throughout the store didn't sit well. The upstairs restroom had multiple stalls out of order and a long line of guests waiting. Overall, I'll give this Macy's a three. We may have just been there at a bad time. Hard to say if this is now their new normal, since I haven't been there in years. read more

Other than the huge shoe selection and decent purse and cosmetics section, this Macy's isn't that great. The juniors section is always disorganized and messy. The sale racks have all the sizes mixed up with half of the clothes on the floor. Additionally, only about half of the dressing rooms are open and they usually have a bunch of clothes still hanging inside. If it weren't for all the coupons I have and all the sales they offer, I probably wouldn't choose to shop at this location. It's too dirty and messy. read more

This review is for the furniture department. We placed an order for 2 tables and a set of leather couches both of which were supposed to be delivered by December (order was placed in October!). After we haven't received any delay notices I called their operator, waited for 30 minutes just to be told that we won't be receiving tables till February!!! I don't know on which planet it's ok not to notify customers of such delays Covid or not. Now, leather couches were supposed to be delivered today between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm and I was waiting for the delivery. They never showed up!!!! And they didn't call us till after 9 pm. What's up with all the bad reviews? Yes, this place can be crowded at times, but I have been coming here since I was 17 yrs old. I have never had a problem with service and I've even befriended several sales people, including MJ and Kevin in the women's shoes dept., along with Cheryl upstairs in Personal Shopping which is in the same space as the Impulse Section. You can't beat this store for selection (Hello, have you seen all of the dresses they carry for special occasions??) and they DO practice price matching now. I can personally vouch for this when I was eyeing a pair of Michael Kors Espadrille Sandals last summer. I had my phone with me and showed one of the sales associates that Zappos had the shoes on sale for $40 less than what they were selling it for. Not only did he match the price, but he ALSO let me use my 20% coupon on top of it. SCORE. read more

I've gone to this Macy's several times in the past few years and here's the sum of my experiences: 1) Extremely rude service: I was browsing clothes when two Spanish ladies with their children started conversing with each other in Spanish. An extremely rude worker interrupted them to loudly ask, "CAN I HELP YOU?". Why would you do that? They clearly didn't want or need any help. I can understand Spanish so it was heartbreaking to hear one of the ladies say that maybe this isn't a store they belong in (after the worker walked away without hearing their reply) :( 2) Messy: the dressing rooms, clearance section, racks are usually in various states of disarray. 3) Poor quality: we bought a pair of men's jeans that fell apart a year later because the material was too thin. For a bit extra, we could go to another store and buy a pair of jeans that will last 5+ years. I stopped going back to this store and actively encourage others I know to shop elsewhere. read more

Their At Your Service can use a little improvement. The At Your Service at Macy's is where you can pick up your online orders, return/exchange, pay your pills, and purchase a gift card. It is located near the women's dresses. I am not sure they function during non-holiday seasons, but when I went today to pick up my online order, they can do a little better. You will find two lines - one for online pick up and one for returns/exchanges. There were about 3-4 people working at the front and apparently all of them were doing returns except one person. I am not sure if the other staff do not know how to do online pick up orders, but I only saw one person going back and retrieving people's orders. This, of course, made a lot of customers standing in front of me angry. When it was my turn to get helped, the lady informed that she had to go to a different department to pick up my orders. It would definitely make more sense for them to either have all the online orders in one place or just notify and direct customers in the e-mail where to go so it would be easier for both customer and staff. read more
