I was craving Mexican food and the menu sounded great. The menu IS great, and the dip trio is very good. But the service... We sat in the bar area on a Saturday. Arrived shortly before 5pm, so it was hopping but not busy by any means. We waited at the front to be seated for about 7 minutes. We were then taken to our table in the bar area where there were several open tables. We were seated at one that hadn't been cleaned off yet from the previous occupants. Staff came and cleaned it off while we stood there awkwardly. Our server was not good. Like the kind of not good where you wonder why food service is the gig he chose in life. My husband had the sangria and I had water, and the server had to come back to our table twice to see what the order was again. After a long while, he returned with the sangria and handed it to me (it wasn't mine) but no water. We had to ask a few times. When we needed a refill we asked for them but we didn't get either beverage until after we were both done with our meals. The food was good. The view is good. It was a rainy day, so it was quiet which was cool and made for a pleasant atmosphere. We had an excellent dinner and service here last night. We sat on the patio just before sunset and although an umbrella to block some sun would have been nice, it was eventually out of view. I had the skirt steak and although I've had better Chimichurri, this was not bad. It just didn't look fresh at all. I asked for a med rare steak which arrived perfectly cooked and tender. The margaritas were really good too. They had some upbeat music playing throughout the meal that we couldn't help but dance along to. read more

We enjoyed our salsa and chips at the bar along with a couple of nice sized build your own Margaritas. Margaritas are always nice sized and the bartenders don't skimp on the alcohol but make it taste delicious. Definitely make your own Margarita, it's so worth it! We did enjoy a light meal of street tacos: BIRRIA TACOS WITH CONSOMÉ- house specialty and very savory and delicious. Also enjoyed the ENSALADA DE LA CASA, light and not heavy after a beach day or hard day at work. Staff is busy but attentive. I have been a fan of the Mad Beach Cantina since they have opened a few years back and I have been actively coining the phrase; Madeira Beaches Infamous - "The Madeira Riviera!" The open-aire Margarita Bar is my favorite place to sit overlooking the Madeira Bay Marina and all the beautiful yachts looking to my left while looking to my right reveals views of the open Gulf waters between the Condo's with a refreshing balmy breeze on most days. The ambience both speaking volumes in waterfront Florida had a festive "Fiesta" feel with the colors and artwork. Our mixologist Adrian was friendly and welcoming and made some fantastic Bloody Marys for us after seating. He was talkative and friendly giving us that "welcome" feel! I always get a custom "Build Your Own Margarita" as that is the house specialty and just love the "Spicy, Skinny w/Salt" and my tequila choice at the time. Something to be said about the balmy/breezy views sipping a Margarita! We have always enjoyed their food usually putting just a slight twist on typical Mexican fare that's somewhere in between authentic and Tex-Mex... Their lates Birria offerings brought us in this day for Birria Quesadillas with Refried Beans, Mexican Rice & Consommé for dipping. After a Queso & Chorizo w/Chips appetizer was a very delicious meal and will be back for other Birria offerings! The second floor elevated perch coupled with great food and cold drinks makes for a stop worthy of both locals and tourists! Nestled between both Madeira Bay Resorts 1&2 - the Mad Beach Cantina is in my opinion "THE MADEIRA RIVIERA" in Madeira Beach. Freshest poke bowl around and the Nicest people in the world. In 6 days we must have gone there 8 times. Lunch and dinner. It was that good. Our youngest (8) is a picky eater and he loved their salmon teriyaki bowl. Kept asking to go back. They also have boba drinks and milk tea. This was absolutely the worst Spanish food I have ever had in my life. I ordered the ranchero shrimp And it barely came with any rice and it was not even spicy. The food had no flavor., When I felt the food wasn't filling enough, I decided to order the Birria tacos which ended up being even worse, dripping with oil and had absolutely no taste. My waiter was more interested in talking to his other coworker about females. I only dealt with my waiter once and someone else ended up bringing me my food out twice. It's sad that this is a Spanish restaurant, but no Spanish people in it at all. Just goes to show you white people cannot make Spanish food. Definitely weigh out your options and go somewhere else. We had a great dinner at Mad Beach Cantina! You do have to climb some steps to get up there, although I do believe there was an elevator available. Our server was friendly and prompt, we had chips and salsa and shared the fajitas. Also the Bogo margaritas they advertise are smaller but honestly a great deal for $10. Food: B, Margaritas were ok, Chips and Salsa were definitely not homemade , the Fajitas were good, the problem was that the waiter didn't tell us that if we choose the black beans there would be a $2 up charge and when you substitute rice for black beans there would be a additional $2 up charge on top of the up charge. Service: B, Host greeted us and was polite and courteous. Waiter was polite but disappeared for awhile and I had to ask for our drinks also he should have informed us about up charges. The hostess took her time cleaning a table for us and used a dirty rag. Our appetizer was ok but my fajitas came out totally burnt. The peppers and onions were so burnt they were stuck to the pan. The waitress had to talk to her manager and he gave us a 25% discount on the fajitas. the waitress explained to us that we were just "one and done tourist" and would probably never come back so who cares. We've been here before and liked it. This time was disappointing, however. We ordered 3 tacos (very small... like street tacos from a food truck?), and it came with chips and salsa. There were maybe 12 chips and a tiny plastic cup of salsa (maybe 1/4 cup?). The shredded pork tacos I ordered were fairly bland. To add rice and beans was another $3, and we both ordered that to our meal. We didn't order drinks, and our bill was $42. Then when adding a tip choice of 20%, 23%, or 28% tip... whoa. That's a pretty pricy lunch. The restaurant is on the second floor, and there's a pretty view of the water. read more

First thing when I walked in was the patron tree. The waiter saw it caught my eye and right away told me all about it. We had to get it at this point. We did come at happy hour as well, and I wish she did mention that as it would have been cheaper to do happy hour than the tree. The tree comes out to be about 11 a drink with patron as the tequila. For appetizers we got the dip trio and ceviche. All the dips were good and the ceviche was just what you would expect a ceviche to be. They did say other seafood would be included in the ceviche but all I saw was shrimp. We got a variety of tacos and each of them were part of the clean plate club. We devoured the tacos they were so good. They are known for their birria tacos and they are not wrong. Very flavorful especially dipping it in the consome. Wish there was more of it though! My husband and I could have shared the quesadillas! They were really good. I also had a Margarita that was really good! I would not recommend this place at all. We like everyone else were enticed by the BOGO margs that they advertise everywhere. While the margaritas were good, and the food was half decent the main thing we had a problem with was our server who chose to belittle us and speak down to us like we were 10 years old because their advertising is unclear on the BOGO margaritas. Atmosphere is subpar at best, the host was extremely nice and we started off with a great impression, until our server came and left a bad taste in our mouths. I would find better mexican food/cantinas elsewhere who probably have better margaritas at better prices AND friendly employees. read more

This was pretty bad. After a long day of traveling and minimal food, we were so happy to sit at the bar and order some drinks and food. It was slow in the restaurant and bar, however, the bartender ignored us. Worked around us stocking glasses, napkins straws and ignored us. Finally, we asked if we could order. The margaritas were pretty good (we got the skinny) but the food was embarrassingly bad. Jarred salsa, canned queso dip, and fajitas were i edible. After talking to folks later in our stay they all said the same thing and apparently it is well known this is a place to avoid. I guess for a quick drink it might be okay if you can get someone to wait on you. I'd skip the food. read more
