The slices of onion were substancial, and the fry actually stayed on the outside so you could experience the concoction as intended. I had multiple options as a vegetarian, but selected their 'Mac Daddy' Mac and cheese. It was full of clearly real cheese, not a stack of velveeta. I appreciated the hefty cheese pull that came with each bite. My family ordered the coconut crusted mahi mahi and it was a topic of the trip hereafter. Sweet, fresh, and fully covered in the salsa as well - the dense fish was so deliciously signed sealed and delivered. The side coconut rice was not quite a suitable partner as it was quite dry - but the fries were recomendable. While driving on Gulf Blvd looking for something to eat near the beach, we stumbled upon The Reef. It looked appealing and it is dog friendly so it was a go. My wife had a rum punch which very strong so the bartenders are heavy handed lol. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of onion rings. And my wife had a Mahi Mahi BLT, with tater tots. My food was delicious and the onion rings were really good but a little salty. And the fish was (3) three pieces of fish (cod). My wife's food was plentiful and she couldn't finish it but what she did eat she said it was delicious. She stated that she would definitely get it again. The picture of my Lobsta Fries looks way better than they were. Unfortunately these were a huge disappointment. They are fries toss in garlic parsley butter and allegedly topped with lobster, lemon garlic aioli, and old bay. Very greasy and quickly became soggy. Unfortunately my recent experience here will be my one and only experience. I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon with my SO and although we were seated immediately, we weren't shown any attention for about 15 minutes and actually had to ask if we were getting a waitress. The place wasn't busy by any means and my SO even saw a couple servers just standing around. We ordered our food and drinks altogether since we weren't sure how long all of it would take. They offered brunch until 4pm which is a slight positive but didn't make up for the lack of hospitality. Between us we ordered 2 different styles of eggs Benedict and they were very subpar. Did take out tonight here and the food came out in less than 15 mins, we really enjoyed our meal! The setting was very relaxed, I waited and the bar and felt such peace. We ordered chicken wings in the garlic parm sauce, the reef burger, the house salad and the fried corn on the cob. The food was great, that reef burger is definitely worth it and that CORN, yum! I thought the fries were really yummy too, they weren't the traditional bar food fries. My only complaint was the sauce for the wings, I wish the garlic parm was a little more flavorful but next time we will snag the regular buffalo sauce because the wings were nice and crispy, no complaints! We're driving around, everyone immediately says no to The Waffle House (inconceivable) I see the reef is open and there are tables on the sidewalk? I pull in and park the car. Mind you, this is a beach bar. People stay here late drinking buckets of beers and singing songs. Can they make breakfast? We all ordered coffee. It's early May, the sun isn't too strong. Didn't come by enough, didn't talk about happy hour specials or anything. We were looking for a place without too much of a wait on Mother's Day and we decided since The Reef had parking spaces open, to try it. Not a great sign but we were hungry. Our server was an older guy who was fine but just didn't seem like a server. Kinda reminded me of a Cheech & Chong kinda guy. We ordered drinks and my son wanted to spicy margarita on the posted sign we walked by in the parking lot. The server seemed to not understand and said, "How about a watermelon Margarita?" My son agreed because it seemed not worth the trouble to explain the sign. He thought the taste was very artificial and couldn't taste hardly any alcohol. We ordered the Lobster fries as an appetizer. They came out with the food which wasn't a big deal. Pretty good except they sat in pool of drawn butter. So the top fries were good, the bottom just soggy buttery soaked fries. The She Crab soup was VERY good and definitely the highlight. I tried to order the asiago shrimp and grits but the server waved me off and said someone just complained about it. I don't know how to feel about that.
